@@kaimering Without rollback this is what happens. You see your opponent go in for an attack and move to dodge. The attack still hits you even though you know you dodged it because your ping was higher than your opponents and on his game you did not dodge in time. Rollback fixes this by "rewriting" actions in the proper order as if there had been no lag. So it detects that although your dodge didn't make it to the server in time to dodge it did do this on your game so it corrects the issue.

Writing this comment after the trailer dropped and what made BN so successful was the lack of information out there for everything. I’m so happy to see that so many people are passionate about this series. I've seen videos poping up on UA-cam lately that are matches of Battle Network, but I had no idea the scene was a large as it is! Im glad people are remembering this series and still playing it.
The game was so great it got me though age 12 and 13 alot was going on in my life emotionally and I was moving 6 or 7 times a year to other states and had no friends.. this game will forever be in my heart ❤
When I younger I loved the battle network games but never found anyone to play with or against. I never would have thought there's such a big fan base for this game. Great vid!
Battle Network 2 was a big part of my childhood and my all time favourite GBA game. I never knew that there was a competitive scene for the game though and that's pretty cool.
Now that battle network is getting all their games released, I hope that multi-player is brought back. Do you know how badass that would be? They could let you unlock battle themes to use while you fighting another person so you get yourself hyped up, change the fields art or megamans look! That would be so dope!
Capcom was trying to pioneer with weird innovations like that. They also made a game (with some minor references and a cameo in one of Battle Network games) called Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand that had a strip thing on the cartridge to absorb sunlight (like old calculators) to recharge your sun-gun weapon thing (the game was about a vampire hunter or something)
As a kid my mom bought me the OG MMBN, it was a bootleg game and couldn’t save I was a kid so I really was unaware of the cartridge being a bootleg. Years later I bought it, this time it was an original cartridge. Man we need more battle network! Today I learned a new thing!!
The competitive scene looks like something that could've kept this series alive had online play been readily available years ago. I've played every entry in the series save for DS remake, Network Transmission, 2, 4.5 and 6 Cybeast Gregar and I missed the series when it came to a sudden conclusion. The competition scene looks tantalizing, but it looks so deep and daunting that I'd probably take a spectator role, though the 10-year-old in me would likely rush into such a scene blindly. But with Megaman 11 no longer a running gag, it's possible that maybe Capcom could look into a new entry in the series or at least a remake of 3 and 6 (though personally, 5 was my favorite since the Liberation Missions were a lot of fun and the DS version had so much content and freedom).
I enjoyed playing Mega Man Battle Network but am certainly shocked to hear it has a competitive scene, and at that, one with such a long, twisty and fascinating tale to it. A great coverage of it here and the horror game origins was also quite the surprise.
Man, Battle Network has so many potential. It was ahead of its time.

Ohhh man! I had so much fun with this game...an absolute gem!
So did I. Hey man, love your content.
I can't wait for your MMBN animation.
First Catherine became a fighting game, then Shrek Superslam the meme, and now this out of nowhere. I'm amazed by the fact that you guys can find out about all of this. Great job & I'm waiting to be surprised by another obscure title esports.
Microsoft excel esports
My personal hope is to see a competitive scene for Digimon Cyber Sleuth
I wouldn’t even be surprised if they found a competitive scene for snake or bejeweled somehow.
I recently found out there is a Sonic Riders competitive scene. Now Battle network too.
Someone already made Diner Dash tournament here.
Most underrated game on the GBA for sure
It got 10 releases?
It's more of a "cult classic" status than underrated. Battle Network 4 is the third best selling Megaman game apparently.
@@GaaraFPS well actually 6 games and multiple versions
BCC and 4.5 exists. Also there's a platformer spin off but that's not on GBA.
@@cherryboywriter6299 The sales on BN4 really said alot on how popular the franchise was at that point. Which only made it more depressing when that same game was also the worse of the "Main" BN Games and this was coming out from BN3 which was one of objectively best BN Games in "Main" BN Games.
The confusion (and frustration) the devs had when capcom told them their horror game is becoming a card game lol.
Like Devil May Cry
@@pablotomasllodra4423 what happened with devil may cry?
Began also as a RE game until it ended up as a stylish action game. Also explains part of the aesthetics of the first game.
@@pablotomasllodra4423 Thanks for the info.
Oh wow. I suggested it a few times but I never thought you'd actually do it! You guys are insane.
Here in December 2022. Who woulda guessed they would revive this lol. I bet the fandom is going crazy
Writing this comment after the trailer dropped and what made BN so successful was the lack of information out there for everything. I started at BN3 and I was a kid but the only resource we had was game FAQs no YT or anything so the best combos and what not was discovered by your friends or yourself running into it. I loved and hated that but looking back on it grinding all 7 stars in BN3 by myself was such a damn achievement
BN3 was seriously amazing in how much you could do with all the chips in the game. Not everything was broken, but you could have fun with pretty much any of the battle chips.
The only Capcom IP with a big anniversary that hasn’t gotten any announcements yet
I have semi-good news for you:
When asked about Battle Network's recent anniversary, the devs have said many times that were it not for the Covid-19 virus, they would have an announcement for us by now.
@@B1rdzOfF1re I’ve heard. Still waiting for them to actually announce something. Hope they didn’t forget
It's so nice seeing how passionate a fanbase can be. I wonder if Capcom is aware of this. Imagine playing this game online on mobile. It would be pretty fun.
Given that the video says a tournament happened at a celebration event, it seems like they're well aware
This kind of game and mobile would be equal gacha. I'm almost willing bet my savings on it. And that won't be good for anyone involved trust me
Yea, if it goes mobile gacha, is gonna be another duel link, shadowverse, heartstone bs*.
But thank god capcom don't have that kind of mobile game bs* yet
@@det06f006 They do; that would be Rockman X Dive.
Time to start the Golden Sun pvp competitive scene
I was thinking the same thing especially with Golden sun's insanely customizable job system!
I'm hyped AF for the Legacy Collection, and the bump in the online community the official online support will bring
Sometimes when I think back, I'm fine with not having had much access to the internet as a kid. But seeing how things started like this is very awesome. I loved BN for such a long time and figured that not many people played because no one in school really did. Though I've been lucky to have someone point me to N1GP a few months ago. And today it is very awesome to hear about the history! Enjoyed th video! Have a nice day everyone.
I FREAKING LOVE MMBN! CAN'T BELIEVE YALL COVERING THIS! YALL LEGENDS FOR THIS ONE
Thank you for covering this. I loved playing this as a kid, and always wanted to play other ppl but never got the chance to. I never knew there was a scene for it, and I'm excited to check it out now!!!
I can dream again of a MMBN collection on Switch with this and when other seemingly dead franchises like Advance Wars are getting some love.
Yeah Advance Wars definitely needs some love
Done, Advance Wars this December
@@LuigiToby Oh yeah, I saw that and I'm soooo happy.
i didnt expect to get the news of advance wars reboot game from a megaman battle network video. thanks man.
what???? will that focus on Andy and co or will and co????
Throwback to wacking those 300 samurais to advance the story with Lan
i hate this part..that was one of the worst part of that game..its kinda crazy that you cannot proceed the gmae id fail this mini game
@@paanazmi8062 as a 10 year old, I was stuck there for a week
With the new Battle Network Legacy Collection adding online features including battling and trading, I am looking forward to all the videos coming in of people's matches.
Hey, for anyone who's more interested in long form, edited overviews of the BN games themselves, there's a tiny channel named 'KNI John' who has gone through 1-4 so far. Really nice channel, would recommend!
Wow. I remember trying to find a community like this in 2005 before giving up. So glad to see it flourish. Now we just need a new game to make our own navis
ive been hoping.for this video i still love the games and anime so its great.to see the esport getting love.
i hope this blows up with the legacy collection. i loved this game as a kid and would love to play multiplayer
I love this series! I didn't even know there was a multiplayer component! I might need to get involved with this community!
Thank you so much for covering the N1GP! The community is amazing and it's super easy to get right into the action, so come and check us out if you love mega man!
This game was so cool. My first actual pvp experience was when I played online mode on the ds version for the first time and my mind was blown.
WHAT!?! Competitive Battle Network was a thing? And no one told me? Take me back to when I was young! I could go pro!
i remember being stuck on a part of one of the games on vacation and couldnt look up what to do next till i got home
Came here after the announcement of online for the legacy game...hope I get to see some new faces there. Feel free to comment back to see who is still alive here
I remember Battle Network having a level of competition but damn not to this extent. This game had it all. Enticing, unique and creative gameplay, music and story.
I remember playing this one and thinking it was neat. It's wonderful that it has a competitive scene. Amazed how esports communities grow out of the most unexpected places
Still waiting for a battle network collection with online battles with rollback on 3 and 6
What on earth was the Capcom presentation btw.
@@supersmashdylan nothing that anyone cares about or even remotely wants.
I’m so happy to see that so many people are passionate about this series. I had friends in school who loved classic Megaman and just brushed off the battle network series cause they said it “ wasn’t real megaman” and it really hurt that they didn’t wanna give it a chance. So glad to see that people still love this series! EXE will always be my megaman and I’ll always love this game
In the end, the Battle Network fan gets the W. Let's goooooo
I miss this series so much, seeing the thumbnail reawakened a piece of my childhood 😭
Can’t wait to see your update once the pvp scene starts this Friday with the Legacy Collection release!!
This is one series I can’t wait to get into. It’s so unique and up my alley and I’m glad to know there’s a competitive scene. I heard there is rumored to be an online mode in the new collection coming up so that will be sweet!
This is so cool. I remember getting Megaman Battle Network 3 (WHITE) for the GBA waaaaay back in the day. Very fun game, strategically challenging, interesting plot, great music. I had no idea there was a competitive scene for it tho~ Thanks for making/sharing such an informative video :)
Omg thank youso much this is my childhood and I am so happy there is actually still a world out there still playing this game
Thanks for bringing light towards this.
If only this game existed during an online era, it might still be played today by the masses.
There's still a chance. A little chance.
We just need someone very popular to introduce this game.
@@ReigoVassal Or a Battle Network Collection, LETS GOOOOO.
Thank you for making this awesome video showing off our community! The N1GP has been the best gaming community I've ever been a part of with some of the funniest and kindest people I've ever met. I look forward to meeting all the incoming new netbattlers! :COBCHAMP:

This was a great find!! Just yesterday, I went to a gamers expo in my city, and found 2 different Starforce copies I didn’t have. This made me find my BN 4,5&6 copies for my gba, and currently playing it through
I've seen videos poping up on UA-cam lately that are matches of Battle Network, but I had no idea the scene was a large as it is! Im glad people are remembering this series and still playing it.
yeah.me too..this game is my favourite..and the game was kinda hard for mainline story too
The game was so great it got me though age 12 and 13 alot was going on in my life emotionally and I was moving 6 or 7 times a year to other states and had no friends.. this game will forever be in my heart ❤
I come from the future to say that Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection will be a thing in 2023! Dreams do come true!
This community is about to get a whole lot bigger come the release of the Legacy Collection!
Thank you for showcasing this
"Oh, This clown doesn't even have an anti-damage, this is gonna be easy!
And then you're dead." Delivery.
When a community is so rare and hard to thrive.. it's a *feature*
Just having to have someone explain what GameFaqs is makes me feel old :(
I honestly didn't expect MMBN to have an E-Sport scene
When I younger I loved the battle network games but never found anyone to play with or against. I never would have thought there's such a big fan base for this game. Great vid!
Battle Network 2 was a big part of my childhood and my all time favourite GBA game. I never knew that there was a competitive scene for the game though and that's pretty cool.
Now that battle network is getting all their games released, I hope that multi-player is brought back. Do you know how badass that would be? They could let you unlock battle themes to use while you fighting another person so you get yourself hyped up, change the fields art or megamans look! That would be so dope!
They won't. There's nothing in it for them to work on it. And even if they did it would be p2p and trash
Surprise! The latest trailer confirmed online multiplayer ✌🏻
"A heart beat monitor that would be connected to the player and affect the game itself"
Holy shit, WHAT?!
@@omegamanGXE Boktai was Konami
@@EphemeralPseudonym H2O, lean, same thing 🤷♂️
@@omegamanGXE No it's not. Capcom kicking ass pumping out great games, meanwhile Konami is nothing but a distant memory.
It's probably one of the best games.
I played Battle network 3 and would connect in game to a hotspring which had the hardest viruses to fight.
🔥
And now, we have a release next year of the complete series haha, as so many say…LET’S GOOOOOO!!!
There's also a fangame that is available now, with ongoing support for all features, including PvP!
Give Chrono-X a look! 😉
As a kid my mom bought me the OG MMBN, it was a bootleg game and couldn’t save I was a kid so I really was unaware of the cartridge being a bootleg. Years later I bought it, this time it was an original cartridge. Man we need more battle network!
Today I learned a new thing!!
This game is literally the best game in GBA and so ahead of it's time. The other being medabots. Jesus Christ we due to both series really
Man I forgot about medabots! I wish I had enough money to just pay for this shit to get remade
Didn’t know this game had a competitive scene.
This is amazing. One of my favorite games of all time! My favorite game series from my childhood. So glad it has found some long term success!
