Zach Galifianakis Reveals Why He Quit Drinking | CONAN on TBS

I saw zach once and he knew that I knew and he just kept staring at me through out the store. From outside to inside and back again outside he honestly wouldn’t stop starting at me and then at the end we kinda got in our cars at the same time and he just gave me the most classic zach face and I was dying in laughter and he waved and I waved and it was absolutely perfect.
That sounds like you didn’t make it up, I really hope you didn’t cause that sounds hilariously awsome.
So you were the guy wearing a Who Farted? t-shirt then, huh?
@@RogueNoble He didn't go up and talk to Zach so obviously he was wearing a doctor's smock.
I rlly hope this is true
Why would he be staring at you the whole time? I call b.s in your dreams maybe.
Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.
Amen God bless people. Save your health save your mind. Life is better without heroin, cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes. And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health.
Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Australia. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them
Hey! Yes Dr.benfungi
100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

Man, Zach is probably every late night host dream guest. He's very funny and quick with the punchlines. Im sure some of it is rehearsed in his head on what he might talk about or even with Conan, but still one of the best.
m.ua-cam.com/video/Aaf7IOhusUw/v-deo.html
Zach is indeed great at late night shows, but robin williams was the best!
Most comedians will have material prepped (and occasionally the hosts will be in on the jokes to set them up properly), actors will also have previews of questions that get run past them and their teams for approval, and some even have the writers give them jokes to appear wittier. It’s all very performative, which is also why some of the most memorable interviews are the ones where the guest is completely off the cuff and throws everything out of loop
I really like this guy.
Everyone does
Yep, me too 🙂
"Did you have a moment that led you to stop drinking?" is an extremely personal question, not one that can pulled off easily on a talk show in front of millions of people. Speaks to the talent of Conan and Galifianakis that they held this conversation so smoothly.
I think there’s usually a pre-interview before a guest goes on air, so he likely would’ve known and approved of the question before Conan asked it
why does it feel like he's making up everything he says while saying it. Like the next word depends on the last two words 😂😂
That's just his style of humor when it comes to story telling.
Being careful what he says, probably changes certain details he doesn't want publicly known.

Good man 👊
In all seriousness, it's great he recognized the problem, good for him. I've always liked everything he does.
I can’t even imagine dealing with crowds of people noticing you everywhere you go. I saw Zach at a bar in Hollywood back in 2005 right before he got really big fandom with the hangover. Only me and one other friend even knew who he was from out cold, but we just let him be. He was literally at the bar drinking a beer by himself and not a single person came up to him the whole time we were there. I’ll bet Zach misses those days when he could be at a restaurant or bar and no one bothers him.
Do u actually feel bad for famous people being noticed? Actors musicians etc. they all asked for that lifestyle and are paid more than like 95% of the world to reciprocate for it.
You are a Saint sir.
Harrison Ford comes to my town all the time, he has a place out here and loves one of the local restaurants. Next thing you know, all the local Facebook pages and even the local news starts plastering him in a photo at this restaurant with a fan.
I have to put myself in his shoes. Sometimes. It's not the time or the place.
@@sourstateofmind5944 Most successful actors and musicians just want to be at the top of their craft, just so happens that when they reach that in their line of work fame generally follows. So yeah, I feel bad for those who are introverted and don't want the attention. Pretty much any other career, even ones where you become more rich than them don't have that side effect.
@@jackhamm7745 gtfo. They choose that career path knowing what comes with it.
@@nyikasplace9886 i bet some of them think they know what to expect but when it actually happens it can be overwhelming. many musicians love making music, they are not in it because they love to be famous (even though there are people who just want to be famous).

that's right Zac it ain't just one bad night, it is all the bad nights punctuated by one supremely bad night
He spoke facts and seemed like he wanted to be taken serious. As a person (myself) who uses jokes as a way to keep others happy, it was a serious issue in his life. People don’t pick up on that. When he spoke about his drinking,
I understood him. Sadly had to turn to being the same funny guy he is to take the light away from a serious issue at hand. Specially being on a talk show like he mentioned.
Wow that’s exactly what I do constantly make jokes. To keep them away. I’m getting tired of it it’s wearing me down.
@@jonkline709 sadly
If we do, then there’s a problem with us. We can’t stop being funny without being judged. So I continue to make others laugh while inside I hurt.
They don't want to. It's an uncomfortable truth. Alcohol is poison to your body and mind. It does nothing of value for your life. Legalised poison to numb the masses.

I've battled drinking from the age of 25 to 45 because I found myself living for the weekends and not happy with my choice of work carrier. I would drink through the week to cope with life and binge drink with friends on weekends when possible. At 45 I emotionally knew I was failing in life by my choices and actions from alcohol. At 47 I found my passion for the outdoors to be more true to myself, so I started a tube channel for fishing and camping. I am happy to say that I found myself before loosing everything I had embracing me like my wife and kids to the true friends that were not abusers. I can stay sober for weeks now and choose when and how much I want to drink if I choose to with friends. Life really begins when you understand!
I'm almost exactly where you were at 36 now. I'm 7 days sober for the first time in many years. Feels amazing. Glad you got it under control and found your purpose.
@@getstuk87 Don't give up. What I have found is watching others that were like me has showed me how bad my choices were almost like a reflection. I can reflect on a lot of consequences that created and use it as a tool in life. I also know my limit so my attitude stays under control and and not let myself get out of control.
I thought he was gonna say, "one day me and my boys went to Vegas for the weekend and...." Haha
He's naturally funny, and I don't know if he gets enough credit.
I imagine he can take out a bank loan without any problems
more likely he has worked really hard at it
This feels like a "Between two ferns" episode.
Notice how nobody clapped for him when he said he quit drinking. That’s how many people have a drinking problem.
Love this guy. He has brought so much laughter into my life 😂
m.ua-cam.com/video/Aaf7IOhusUw/v-deo.html
Me too 🤣
I always see him sparking up that joint on that talk show!!!!
He's one of those people who was simply just born to do comedy. It's so effortless seeming to him that I think it's just his actual, natural personality.
I got a pretty funny little story actually. I wasn't there but my neighbors were all hanging out, I live in a very touristy area and a lot of movies are filmed around here but it's not California/Hollywood, and at the time he was filming "The Campaign" with Will Ferrell. Anyway, my neighbor is very open to the tourists and passers-by and her front door is basically always unlocked if not outright open and there's almost always a party going down when she's in town.
Anyway, one night none other than Zach Galifianakis shows up, walks in and just wants to kind of see what is going on at this open house gathering. He's talking to my neighbor for like maybe 20-30 minutes or so, and finally he asks "Where is the best bar around here?" because in this same area there is basically nothing but bars and clubs and restaurants. She recommends one to him, he says thanks and goes on his merry way.
As he's leaving, my neighbor's daughter is like "Don't you even know who that was?" and she said "No, who is he?" and then her daughter tells her "Dude, that's Zach Galifianakis! He's a pretty famous comedian!" and my neighbor immediately shuffles outside and is like "ZACH! Zach, come back here for a second!" and he does.
She says "Are you famous?" and he says "Well, I thought I was"
😂
That is a really funny and inspiring story. I’m sitting here a bit hungover and having, as usual, said/done some silly stuff. I’m quitting too
Likewise, the stuff I do gets worse the more frequent I drink but I live in the middle of city full of bars and it’s hard when you’re single and don’t really know anyone, I end up saying to myself I’m going out for 2 and at the minimum it will end up being 6 pints
Nah just work on building character and self control. Don't neuter your life. If you can't achieve that and have to become a teetotaler at least don't join the cult. Seen a few people fall to that not pretty
Same. These hangovers get ugly once you clear 35. I mean REAL hangovers. It's pathetic
Update?
Timely, had a couple of benders recently after a long gap and feel awful again mainly because of doing silly things that don’t align with my sober standards. Had to speak to a friend after to say that won’t be doing it again - really want to try and stay clear of situations where it might happen (stag dos, reunions in town centres where there are lots of pubs) - think that’s the only way ❤. Hope alls good anyone who sees

My personal "quit drinking" story - Battle buddies convinced me that, after taking night medication for a cold, it would be a great idea to have a few drinks. This was under the guise of celebrating their return to Iraq the following week from Camp Shelby MS (which was where we were at the time - in Hattiesburg MS). I don't remember anything after that, other than waking up the following morning in University Hospital (Tulane) in New Orleans; chained to a hospital gurney, no pants, no underwear, no phone, half of a pair of shoes, and a few fractured bones. Apparently a cop car had shown up a few hours earlier and the two officers piloting this shuttle dropped me out on the curb in front of the hospital entrance before slowly driving away. There are more stories than this that constantly filter in through various recounted tales from nurses who fielded calls on your antics all night. Imagine having to explain everything you know, which is being told to you through second-hand accounts, to your wife who lives 8 hours away - while convincing her its a good idea to come and pick you up.
