  • The time has come!!!! Winter months here on the California Coast are typically the best time to catch big surfperch. I was finally able to line up the conditions to land a few slabs on the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow. Let me know what colors or what other lure I should try out next! Thanks for watching!

I just caught 2 small GT in Australia. About 14" fish in the Noosa River estuary. They fight about the same as surf perch of the same size. You are not far off.

I don't know whereabouts you are exactly, but in the Fort Ord area(you've had videos not far from there), the lucky craft performs well there for perch as well. However, while I've had some mild success with stripers using it(they inhale it), if you really want striper, nothing will bring you success like a purple hoochie in the monterey bay area. Also good for ling and rock cod.

    • @DieHardFishing

On my personal setup I use 20 lb braid yo a 2ft 15 or 20 lb mono leader. If you use all mono your 110 LC won't cast far. Mono line is to heavy. But braid line is lighter. If you go lighter than 15 lb you will start to run risk of breaking off during cast.

I always try to keep an eye on it. And I'm usually fishing less crowded beaches so that helps.

Here in California, there is no legal minimum for Barred Surfperch. Redtail is 10.5"

9 hooks needed to catch a 10"-12" fish? you're too good a fisherman for that...just get rid of the middle & swap out the other two for inline hooks of some sort for what you're hunting. Weigh the removed trebles then use singles of the same weight, You can get the lure to behave differently playing with different weight hooks, it's fun and actual fishing not harvesting. still love you're vids and, dude you are a great fisherman, usually, hehehe...
