- The time has come!!!! Winter months here on the California Coast are typically the best time to catch big surfperch. I was finally able to line up the conditions to land a few slabs on the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow. Let me know what colors or what other lure I should try out next! Thanks for watching!

I just caught 2 small GT in Australia. About 14" fish in the Noosa River estuary. They fight about the same as surf perch of the same size. You are not far off.
Nice!!! Thats one of my bucket list fish for sure!
Just subscribed recently. I enjoy your style and narration and the topics. And I like that you're not a toilet mouth, very refreshing and professional! Looking forward to more great videos.
Thanks for checking out the channel and subscribing!
Big ol surfperch!!
SLABBBB
nice slabs man! can you link me to the upgraded split rings and hooks on that 110sp? yours don't look stock.
I threw the links in the description. Looks like the hooks are out of stock on amazon but maybe you can find something similar, or find the same hooks on another site.
Hooks are back in stock now. Get them while you can!!!!!
That was a good breakdown of deep vs shallow waters.
Glad you enjoyed!
Perfect fishing weather
Yep!
crazy to think the surf perch is just heating up... it's been sooooo good. Went out thursday and caught a 2 lb 12 oz on a LC flash minnow. My medium action rod folded in half! thought I caught a stiper. Thank God the gopro got it at a good angle
Nice! I'll be looking for her twin sister next week!!!
Die Hard Fishing good luck brotha. Just found you on IG on the suggested tab (I see what you did, google). I’ll keep an eye out! Your vids are so sick.
I missed this video 10 months ago. Great stuff Adam.
Thanks for coming back!
Glad to see I'm not the only guy surf fishing in the cold Pacific without waders
Short and sandals for the win!
Nice fish! Congratulations, and way to go against the elements! Glad to watch! :)
Thanks for watching!
I don't know whereabouts you are exactly, but in the Fort Ord area(you've had videos not far from there), the lucky craft performs well there for perch as well. However, while I've had some mild success with stripers using it(they inhale it), if you really want striper, nothing will bring you success like a purple hoochie in the monterey bay area. Also good for ling and rock cod.
Never tried the purple hoochie for striper. How do you rig it for fishing the surf?
I personally like this type of fishing. Been fishing LCs here in LA area and they have produced alot of PB perch, halibut, and corbina. Looking for elusive socal surf striper one day.
I have yet to get a halibut. Hoping to cross that off the LC bucket list this year!
I'm gonna have to pick me up one of them LuckyCrafts..!! I'll be sure to use the link in your description..
Yeah give it a shot! I have fallen in love with it.
How could one watch this video and not want to take that little guy for a swim? I ordered one!
@@budrollin7557 Heyy Bud.. I ordered one as well with additional upgraded split rings and treble hooks.. Send pics of your first catch with the luckycraft.. I'm excited to throw this thing in the ocean..!!
Great vid, diehard! Really helpful to get the tutorial at the beggining. I like the rawness in the vid.
How come no waders? you are truly a diehard!
The fish can smell the waders and they will all swim away. Thanks for watching!
ADAM! YEAH MAN!! I know exactly where your at. I've caught some real quality fish there too. Your smallest fish was there biggest...😄 that's cuz your the man!
Thanks for watching!
That’s what’s up!
Thanks for watching!
Come to Hawaii, we got GTs, absolute awesome fight. Also, bonefish that absolutely spool your tiny pole. It's like a minimum to run 12ft heavy rods on convention reels.
I would love to come fish there. Hopefully some day!
Hi Adam, I am a big fan of your Channel. Quick question, where do you usually go catch surf perch around Bay Area? I took my son to Martin’s beach and few other places with little success. If you can point me to the general direction, I can figure it out. Thx!
Those are some big perch... guess season is here. Awesome job
Now is the time!!!
Nice breakdown of the beginning 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hope it was informative!
@@DieHardFishing yea man! I learned that Rice bags are the best to store your catch.... seriously! haha 👍
Rice bags?!? Why?!?
Robert Huizar at 8:51 in the video he puts the fish in the rice bag. I guess it’s strong. Maybe the same concept as burlap bags when you go on a charter
Dam that Three Ladies Jasmine rice bag tho 😂!! No worry Ive used that bag for fishing before, very durable when you have lots of fish to carry👌 8:55
Same!!!! I approve!!!
Fish with some veg and Three Ladies rice sounds like a really good meal right about now!
@DHF, nice vid! Do you find the swim action on the LC better on a M or MH rod action?
This is literally the only rod I have ever fished the LC with. Seems to work well with this one!
Dont think the rod is gonna make much a difference in the action of the Lucky Craft in the Surf.
Thanks for the vids very fun! If your up for the challenge I highly recommend fishing an ultralight, best rod I've found is a shakesphere micro light $17 at walmart 1500 size reel 5# flouroclear small swimbaits or 3" grubs on 1/4oz heads or 3/16
Nice, I actually did a few videos with an ultralight in the surf! I caught one of my biggest perch on this channel with an ultralight.
Nice! You wiped the whole family out, plus the uncle.
The great grandfather is still out there though!
Die Hard Fishing lol
Ive used that same lure, so many times at mult beaches in that area and have never hooked up. Damn! The only diff is the low lighting. That might be the call.
Yeah give early morning or late evening a shot, I have found those times to be best!
Those are some monster perch dude, good job. I can’t wait to be able to get back out there and grab some of my own.
Get them while its hot!!!!
Die Hard Fishing I would, but I probably won’t be able to walk for another couple months for a broken leg/knee/foot, so I have to live vicariously through you guys. 😅
Dang, sorry to hear about the injury. Wishing for a speedy recovery for you!
Die Hard Fishing Thanks dude, I look forward to the future uploads. 😎
Wow this video was so informative, Thanks Adam!
Thanks for watching!
Great video man! It seems like the bite has been pretty solid up and down the state these last couple weeks. 👍
Its definitely heating up!
Will that lure work off a jetty also?
If there are perch there, I don't see why not!
Any preference between the sp minnow and the lucky craft minnow? I have a few SPs and debating if I should buy the lucky craft minnow
I prefer the lucky craft when targeting surfperch and the SP when targeting striper. If you are looking for surfperch, I highly recommend it!
bro how can your toes survive the piercing sand and freezing water?!
Because I am Die Hard, do not try at home. haha
sometimes early morning, the water is warmer than the sand and air
Hook2Cook I can agree with that.😂
I just discovered your channel and really like you content. Great Video!!
Thanks for checking out the channel! Glad you are enjoying!
In hawaii where I am, we have something called a "hammer Bomb" that has equal buoyancy so it sinks very slowly but heavy enough to bomb your lure way out.
I am skeptical that it would mess up the action but it might be worth a shot! Thanks for the suggestion!
can you add a little weight on the line to get some more distance on the cast?
I have never done so but I'm sure it can be done!
Can't you use that clear bobble with half water for nul buoyancy to give you more distance?
Awesome show, this one!
Awesome video brother like always. And to those guys who keep asking what spot this is...... he will never give you the spot because he doesn't want to burn it out if you want to find out the best way to do it is to go out there yourself and look at the water
Thanks for watching!
Hi where do you store your pedal kayak? and how are you able to launch it by yourself?
I store it in my garage and launching by myself isn't too difficult. It weighs around 100 pounds so I am able to carry it if needed.
Nice vid, dude! If you're looking for long distance casting lures you gotta try the DUO; either the Tide Minnow or the Terrif. I get mine from an ebayer on the left coast. That should be close to you :) Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check those out!
Hey great video. Seems like whenever I wanna use a lure the conditions suck. What conditions are best for lures and what website or app do you have to check?
I usually check Surfline and look for a period where the swell is lower
Did you check the swell forecast before you went out and what was it if you did?
I don't remember the exact numbers but I generally look for periods where the swell is lower.
i'm just learning so much about how to read the surf
Instant professional
😊
Just wondering if barred perch carry a lot of mercury???
Not to my knowledge.
Hello Great fishing video I love fishing Trevally fish over where you are are completely different to ours . You need to come to Australia for great Trevally fishing
Definitely a bucket list fish for me!
Great video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips, and nice catches!
Thanks for watching!
Ooh yeahhhh!!
I'll let you catch all the rockfish and I'll supply the surfperch, haha
Hey bro, is this in southern Cal or Bay area? I know u wont say exactly but how about a city? I'm new to surf fishing.
Nor cal
Bay Area
Thanks for the reply. So can you say which beach? Stinson, Baker, Ocean?
Are you fishing the Santa Cruz surf fishing tournament this year?
I hope to!!! I didn't sign up but I think I will just fish for fun and come enjoy the lunch!!!!
Die Hard Fishing may be I’ll see you out there I really enjoy watching your channel.i live in southern calif but my son goes to school In santa Cruz . Thanks for all the good videos
Nice, hope to see you there!
thank you so much for the intro ton reading the surf
You're welcome!!!
@@DieHardFishing could you do a video on your tackle, hooks - purpose , what sinker for what rig, line test, and rod combo?
Thanks for the suggestion!
What size of a lucky craft flash minnow you were using?
And color/pattern?
The size is a 110. Color might be a ghost sardine or sardine color
I am using the 110 in metallic sardine color. It is all linked in the description!
What Beach is this ? I have been
wanting to fish in the surf. Also what is the size limit
& how many can you keep ?
It is a beach on the California Coast. No size limit on this species, just a bag limit of 10.
@@DieHardFishing dude u got to atleast say what beach it is....nothing wrong with that
@@domicamarillo1382 the reason you don't give out the spot is because of burnout the minute he mentions the spot everybody will be there in the spot gets burned out do your homework
@@DieHardFishing ok what is the name of the beach? I go over that way once in a while & would like to try my hand at surf fishing . I have all the time in the world ( retired now for health reason's so it has to be easy axis to the beach's.
Find a beach, in California, with sand, watch videos... catch fish. Quit asking which beach. It doesn't matter!
awsome fish , love your videos
Thanks for watching!
Very informative!
Hope you learned something!
Do you ever try Kastmasters?Blue/Chrome?
I have only tried a couple times. Do you have good luck with those?
Came here from Outdoor chef life. Subed.
Thanks for checking out the channel and subscribing!
What's the test line are you using?
On my personal setup I use 20 lb braid yo a 2ft 15 or 20 lb mono leader. If you use all mono your 110 LC won't cast far. Mono line is to heavy. But braid line is lighter. If you go lighter than 15 lb you will start to run risk of breaking off during cast.
I run 30 pound test braid mainline with a 20 pound mono leader.
Nice Asian creel!
lol
you really need a bucket with water or basket or line to keep them in or on please try that .
Thanks for the tip!
I just found out that you are catching surf perch never seen them before.
Super fun fish to catch in the surf!
How the surfperch taste compare to stripe bass?
I prefer the surfperch, but both are good.
Whats the weight of your lure?
around 3/4 ounce
Yeah, I'd be wearing shorts too....Awesome
Die Hard Fishermen unite!
Dude thank you
Thanks for watching!
Wow nice ones
Thanks for watching!
Good stuff! 👍
You da man nice slabs
Thanks for watching!

Some might call them GIPERCHIES!!!!!
Jun still wait to see you back at it fishing look forward to see you back
Die Hard Fishing 😂 Giperchies!!
ofa taufa not for a while man, in the meantime I’m here enjoying watching these guys catching fish without me 😭😂
You'll be back just in time for the striper!
nice job brotha
Thanks for watching!
I need the location of the spot.. anyways nice catch and great vid.. I also like the knowledge you ahve about fishing..
Happy to share my fishing knowledge! Thanks for watching!
great vid keep it up
Thanks for watching!
How do you keep people from stealing your equipment while your back is to the shore?? I've had people steal my towel while my back was turned to the shore. I'd hate to lose a GOPRO, tackle and fish to some thief.
I always try to keep an eye on it. And I'm usually fishing less crowded beaches so that helps.
Sounds good.
I clicked like before I watched the video
lol, feel free to unlike if you were disappointed!
@@DieHardFishing I wasn't disappointed, I enjoy all of your videos!
Is this in Florida
No, this is in California.
my PB is just about that size but i didn't have a tape measure with me :(
Nice!
Very nice bro keep it up
Thanks for watching!
What size is legal for perch
Here in California, there is no legal minimum for Barred Surfperch. Redtail is 10.5"
Nice vid... but..... hobie time for some crabs since rocks are closed. :-(
yeah, going to be 3 longggg months.
Where’s the GT?
You fish in SC ?
I fish all up and down the coast!
Your location ?
California Coast
3rd. Based on your title I thought you were in Hawaii? 🙂🎣🤙
Felt like Hawaii, but slightly colder, haha
Giperchy Nice
Yayyyyyy
I will make a "tri hard fishing" in the future
lol
Learning a lot from you, teacher. Thanks for the entertainment and the lessons.
Thanks for watching!
9 hooks needed to catch a 10"-12" fish? you're too good a fisherman for that...just get rid of the middle & swap out the other two for inline hooks of some sort for what you're hunting. Weigh the removed trebles then use singles of the same weight, You can get the lure to behave differently playing with different weight hooks, it's fun and actual fishing not harvesting. still love you're vids and, dude you are a great fisherman, usually, hehehe...
I thought snagging is illegal to keep? Great info on reading the surf and fishing vid! I just pulled the trigger and order my LC Minnow on Amazon! Can't wait!
Sounds like fun times ahead for you!
@@DieHardFishing either that or I get skunked and come back and take it out on you! Lol! Kidding. Thanks for the reply. 👍
Dude, your like Cody Lundin
I wish I was as yoked as him
Comparing surf perch to GT's...lol sorry but jacksmelt put up a better fight than surf perch
Second I love all ur videos
Thanks for watching!
Die Hard Fishing no problem my family and I are going to go fishing one day 🎣
Hope to see you on the water when that day comes!
Where in CA is this?
