I'm two years post big chop. Big chop really boosts your confidence and your hair grows back healthier. Plus you just feel so good to see the progress overtime.
I wish I would’ve found your channel when I first went natural, I would’ve retained so much more length. You taught me how to wash my hair in sections (life changer!!), properly detangle my hair after a protective style, leaving in my deep conditioner overnight (my hair is so much softer that way) and much more! So very grateful for your content!! Thank you so much Queen! (Plus you a Zoe like me ayeee 🇭🇹) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🥰
I loooove how you talk about your hair cuts 💕 most people look at that phase in such a negative/sad light … you on the other hand got me so excited girl !!!
‘My hair would not stop growing because of this special sauce’ 💀💀💀💀 The amount of times those video titles have triggered me Like duh your hair will not stop growing as long as you’re healthy and alive
It triggers me as well! like there are some UA-camrs who dedicate their channels to stuff like that. Half their videos are titled "use this once a week for MASSIVE HAIR GROWTH!" or "do this once a week and your hair will never stop growing" and then some of them will insert "I'm still shook!" in their thumbnails for extra effect. And I'm like girl if you really use all this stuff every week and it works then your hair should be at your ankles by now😂
2020 was definitely when I found you❤ thank you for teaching and showing me to love my 4c hair and how to take take of her. Much love.. as always from South Africa 🇿🇦
Jenn you have taught me so much about my hair. How to moisturize it, how to wash it and how to deep condition it and I just want to thank you for everything that you’ve done for my hair❤️❤️❤️ love from St. Martin 🇫🇷🇸🇽
My big chop anniversary (4 years) is coming on next month. Wish I'd found your channel earlier but better late than never. Now it's so much easier to manage with your help. Thank you. 🥰🎉
I transitioned, it was a journey with a lot of trials and tribulations. 1. Different textures, gets worse when you wash your hair and the natural part coils while the relaxed part remains straight 😩 2. Unequal length, the new growth is stronger where as the relaxed part is either holding on for dear life, about to give up or it already gave up on you. There were parts that were longer than others. This starts to get on your last nerve with full success as you might not be able to let your hair down and it might dictate what hairstyles you can do. Well at least it did with me. If you chose this route, it's definitely doable but it needs plenty of patience and grace. 3. I would trim my hair every month, I did this until all the relaxed portion was gone. The other trims are just for upkeep purposes to maintain healthy hair. I didn't have it in me to do a big chop, maybe one day I'll get there.
For me i left my hair in curly styles(bantu knot outs, tight rollers). That blended the 2 for me so it didn't matter. Then over time i trimmed away the perm but since it was all curled up, again it was easy for me.
@@marlak4203 my experience made me promise myself to never get close to a relaxer. I'm glad I experienced relaxing my hair twice (I didn't learn my lesson the first time clearly 😂😂😂). I'm impressed and have lots of respect for those who are able to maintain relaxed hair but that wasn't for me.
Your cuts were fire 🔥 hun, You were so excited talking about your them. I love long hair so much, I hope one day I can have the courage to cut my hair like you did and enjoy them. Love from 🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
I did not realize how badly damaged my hair was until the pandemic hit and my hairdresser closed. I was forced to relax my own hair which I did and did a poor job and that did it. I decided to transistion having no knowledge about natural hair or how to transistion. I started watching you tube videos. Fortunately my mindset made the journey easy for me. I began to hate my relaxed hair so much that at 7 months into transistioning I chopped all the relaxed ends off. Braids were my protective styles. That too was an issue as I developed hair bumps from the tight braids. At the 7 month mark when I removed all the relaxed ends I decided to wear my hair short and I began a regime of weekly washing and deep conditioning. So many people complimented me on my look that it was an even easier process. Today I am 13 months post relaxer and I am never ever going back to chemicals. I so love my natural hair and all the gray hairs that come with it. I'm a product junkie too :)
Hey girl hey! 🤗🤎 Hello all the way from Papua New Guinea in the Pacific 🇵🇬 Four years ago, I transitioned from relaxed hair to natural and then big chopped. I was happy with the length I retained since then, but I too recently experimented and encountered a hair setback. After much thought, I did my second big chop today and this video was so timely! I now feel more excited about my short hair and look forward to enjoying the journey back to length. 😊 Bless 🤎
That’s me! I transitioned over a year ago from relaxed to natural....And honey!!!!! It’s a process. I didn’t do a big chop; I just let the relaxed hair grow out. It takes lots of PATIENCE.
I remembered my hair being texturised and jerry curl and it never really occur to me to big chop. Probably because i was going school at the time and I felt i would be embarrassed to wear my hair bald so I let it do it's own thing.
I still want to continue with protective styles even though the hair challenge is ending. My hair is growing. Now at below shoulder length. It was a little past nape length, which is my problem area and it’s getting thicker. Thank you for your videos.
I transitioned for a year because I didn't have the guts to cut it off like you but it wanted that so bad but my work place is very judgemental so I didn't! Kudos to you Jen j for rocking it so well
I just realized that when I did my BIG CHOP a few years ago, your photo of the short style with the part was the one I went with to the barber shop. I said "I want this!" Only now I realize it was you ! Fantastic. I rocked a similar short style FOREVER. So freeing. Thanks for the inspiration, Jenn.
I've been transitioning for over a year. The pandemic made it easier since I work from home. I wore bantu knots for the first 7-8 months, which grew my hair quickly. Now I wear twist and curls weekly and occasional twist outs.
Happy Birthday to your hair. My three year hair anniversary is in November. Started my journey a little above chin length, to above my collarbone, and now a little past armpit length now. Shrinkage was having me thinking my hair wasn't growing, but love the journey.
I enjoyed this video from beginning to end! Your personality is contagious and your story telling skills bomb. Really felt I was chilling with a girlfriend and chit chatting. :D
I just recently cut my locs after a few years and before then, I kept my hair very short since I was a sophomore in hs. I’m 26 now and I feel like I’m learning my hair all over again and Im frightened but also excited lol thank you for the video!

My best friend shared this video with me today. Omg you were so fun to listen to! So natural and it made me eager to know what came next. I cut my hair recently but since its growing I don't know what to do with it. You just made me want to cut it again lol. I was so apprehensive about having a short cut at first and now I love it so much. I just don't think the barber did a great job on my second cut but I'll try someone else. Thanks for inspiring me!!
