I’m almost at 3 years now and my hair is just passing collarbone length, I had an undercut for the first year and few months into my journey tho. I got the revlon 1 step and started using it OD but I think it affected my growth for this year. I’ve been protective styling for the last 3 months to try recover so I can try retain some inches to hopefully have it looking healthy and thick for when our summer comes around in December. This video is my motivation 🌻
Beautiful Video isn’t it?.!! 👑 I’ve been natural for only one year. Show some support please, I’m on my journey as well. ua-cam.com/video/g3DYvM44cR4/v-deo.html
I'm not a 4c natural but I watch a lot of 4c channels because I personally believe that hair porosity and hair structure (level of thickness and coarseness) plays a much bigger role in how our hair responds to different products. Pattern is just the shape of your hair and just like the shape of your body, society always has something to say about a part of you that has nothing to do with anyone but yourself. My hair is naturally very defined without products, but it's also very frizzy and I live in an all year round humid climate. I can control my curls with heavy gels and defining products, and sometimes I did. But I recently big chopped after 5 years being natural, and told myself I'm not listening to anyone but me this time. My hair gets more love when it's tightly coiled and defined, and I'm told "You need to your hair" when it's been a few days since wash day and I have 3 inches of pouff. I started thinking to myself that I would wash my hair when it started getting undefined. I let people's opinions on my hair get to me. This video reminded me why I restarted my journey. I want to love my hair whether it's hanging loose straight out the shower or drinking in the humid air to try and touch the sun. I want to love my hair, no laid edges, and a wash and go that takes 5 minutes because I prioritize moisture not definition. I've always loved shrinkage because to me that's a sign of healthy hair, NOT "growth". My hair has always grown regardless of damge, relaxed, bleached or straightened to exhaustion. But it doesn't always shrink. Please, whoever reads this, love your hair. Not just when it's stretched or defined. Love it when it's clean and deep conditioned with not a drop of styling product on it.
I througly enjoyed this video. You just gained a new subbie! Im 5 months into my hair journey and I agree 100 % with you about using the Jamaican Cator Oil.
Thank you, I'm gonna be going natural pretty soon and I was really scared that having a short afro would not allow me to do any cute styles! You boosted my confidence! 😌
@blahface, when I transitioned, I never did a big chop. I did roller sets every wash day. This blended the permed and natural hair together nicely. Every 2 to 3 months I would clip my split ends. My hair has grown very nicely. I am fully natural now. I learn so much from my sisters on you tube. Stay away from blow dryers and flat irons for best success.
its been 2 years yall and I just wanna say that my hair is doing good. I had a twa now Im at armpit length. I get a lot of compliments by the thickness of it. 👌
Girl! Thank you for this! I'm 4c transitioning from texturizing and my hair shrinks alot, but wow!!! You hair helps me see where my hair can go! My hair is thick too. I'm ordering more castor oil and doing braids myself, not tight, this weekend! It's a great protective style, as you said.
This is the 1st actually natural hair video. All other females make video of them with long hair already hair naturally curly so they actually be gimmicks. Thanks for this video. Nobody makes videos like this one with actual thick normal black hair or permed against not
OMG my hair is also past APL rn and you have seriously motivated me to keep pushing. I've been wanting to find someone with my hair length or somewhat close and I'm just really glad I found you. I been protecting styling a lot, but now I've been wanting to just wear my hair out more often and this is a sign!! Thank you ❤❤
Thank you for this oh my goodness! This is really helpful to me and I will be forever grateful! I went natural back in 2018 and got really stressed out 2020 and decided to cut my hair all over again to start over and I am really happy to start over because I feel like now I can do it the right way!! Thank you for this helpful video 🤍🤍🤍
So pretty. Such a joy to see so many Black women celebrating their natural hair and really caring for it. And, also for us older gray gals: it takes some work, but so worth it not only for how we look, but more importantly: how we FEEL. Every woman deserves to be beautiful, treasured and relaxed being herself. Healthy, long natural hair is glorious on all women. Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise. What is TWA?
Girrrll when I say I love this video. It's gotten me excited to continue my natural hair. I love seeing black women embrace and loving their natural hair, regardless of the length❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍

I used to have a full head of 3b that was down to my butt, one day I was at my dads and I forgot to brush my hair out for like 1 week. I had a huge knot at the back of my head. My mom was out of the country and my dad had like 4c short curly hair so he didn’t know what to do. I tried to brush it out but 7 yr old me couldn’t. My dad took me for a sleepover to my white grams house, and she decided she was gonna cut my hair. She cut my hair super short to my neck and cut it wrong. Now my hair is down to my chest a little bit longer but I have certain parts that are 3c because of how she cut my hair. My curl pattern is ruined in a certain area but I don’t mind. I’m learning on how to take care of 2 different hair patterns 3b and 3c.
I had 3c hair when I was little kid but I was never allowed to grow it out till I was in high school all those years of having a buzz cut left me with 3b-3c hair I wish It was fully 3c
Cutting your hair doesn’t change your hair texture. The cut hair is already dead and doesn’t affect the hair being made in your body and coming out of your scalp. Some children’s hair texture changes as they get older. And then sometimes the weight of your long hair can stretch your hair so you’re not aware of the true texture until you cut it. A lot of people have different hair textures. I personally knew I had 2 textures but when I cut my hair I noticed that I actually have 3 textures
You said at the end of the video that you don’t finger detangle anymore but earlier in the video you suggested finger detangling. What made you decide to stop doing it? Great video by the way!
This is well done great video, thanks a lot. I cut my locs in Oct 2020 and working on retaining length. Thanks for the great tips. Your hair is beautiful
Girl I had the same phoneee 😭 but omg thank you I’ve been looking for videos like This ! My problem is I can’t wait for my hair to grow and I take my braids out like every two weeks just to see if it grew
I have past bra length hair, so if you don't mind, I'll give you my two cents. Product play a part in length retention but not as much as your routine and consistency. If you know you can't be consistent, adapt your routine with protective style that only requires to add moisture in your hair from time to time
I have been using natural products up until today when in used wet and wild gel cuz I wanted defenition and I regret it so much. Once u start natural regimes you can feel the difference going back to the synthetics . My scalp hurt it was screaming too my hair cudnt get rid of the gel easily . I am high porosity and I’m not lying when I say the gel turned into some sort of deep conditioner that was drying. I learned my lesson. My hair is up to urs now so I know everything you said was 100% truth because I stopped combs when it got too much . I didn’t force my hair to do what it didn’t want to do . Nice Video
My hair looks just like this! From that relaxer got it one time and it damaged my hair didn’t really look into it until this year that my hair was damaged definitely finna cut it off
this is gonna be me!! 🤞🏾. 5 months ago i started using amala oil, my hair was up to my ear and now it’s past my neck. I don’t do much to manipulate my hair. I transitioned my hair 3 years ago, but I didn’t do anything to my hair and my hair wasn’t growing in height but rather in thickness. However, now it’s growing both in height and thickness 😩
i’m doing my big chop at the end of summer, and i breezed through the transitioning period the past year. i kept my hair in protective styles. i makes it soo much easier.
I shaved my hair recently so here i am looking every video i can find to help me 😂bc i did so much damaged to my curls in the pass that can’t even remember my natural curl partner
I'm 14 and last year a parental convinced me to go bald. My hair was damaged from past relaxers and it's been over a year yet I don't have my hair even brushing my back which is probably fine since my mom isnt one to invest in things that I ask for to help me as a growing female the most she'll get is pads and occasional bras like 1-2 every year. No sports bras or anything special. When I want to grow out my hair i ask for vitamins or hair products I'm still waiting. any hygiene or self care I learned was from yt or my aunt. So yeah no fancy products just leave my hair alone and hope it grows which it has but it's at awkward length whi is what its been at whe I chopped it off. I'm kinda disappointed because my first sister only brother and baby sister he really great 4c hair my hair only has texture after it's been wet and air dry. Once I comb it itll be without too much texture so I'm branching out
I relate to this so much but if it helps you can watch natural hair videos on how to take care of your hair. I recommend "Natural Academia" and "Indigenous Strandz" there's many more but yeah. But make sure to find out what your hair density and porosity is cause that will really help you know what your hair needs and make sure to experiment with different products and hair regimens to see what works for you (stick to a product/brand or hair regimen for a couple months and see if it really helped your hair grow and be healthy. For the female needs and stuff, I'm 13 and I usually just save my allowance to buy stuff cause my mom does the same thing- sometimes she will buy it but it's not really the thing I was looking for. So yeah if you get any allowance save it to go and buy your hair stuff and female stuff (all of my hair stuff was like $54- shampoo, conditioner, oils, etc.). And if you don't, ask an aunt or older female cousin.
@@blahface240 helpful but no I don't get allowance( my mom tried 5 dollars a month and never paid me she owes me a few hundred bucks but we need the money going towards our family theres five of us and our parents.) I'm her first child her first teen so by nature she has no idea therefore I have a much harder strainuos childhood than say my baby sister her fifth child. especially in the generation far more advanced and my mom moved us out the states so I can't ask my aunts because I still need the products and they're expensive I'm just wearing a lot of protective styles no rubber bands and I sometimes mix olive oil hair grease vaseline and coconut oil and my hair grows a centimeter over night. Imported products are expensive and I live in Africa so I'm looking but this part of Africa every female is bald even newborn babies they can't really do hair either plus majority of the population dont take care of hygiene. I'll be 15 in October and no have no idea what's going to happen to us long term cuz my mom is only thinking short term and doesn't have a plan. So I most likely wont get any products while we're constantly moving which involves flying a lot idk my life is extremely stressful and chaotic and I don't even want to talk to her about anything that matters anymore I don't ask her for the basics either if I ever get back to the states that's when I'll take car of myself the way I should have been taken care of
@Brianna king. I started making my own money when I was 12 years old. I had 5 different families that I would babysit for. I crocheted blankets. Purses, hats and sold them. I saved hundreds of dollars while in middle school. I did not have to ask my parents for anything. Find something you like to do and make your coins. Dont forget to save some too. Love you.

Does wearing your hair out more help it grow in insecure abt my hair which is why I wear it in a bun
Rice water
Wild growth oil
Jamaica black castor oil
@@blahface240 helpful but no I don't get allowance( my mom tried 5 dollars a month and never paid me she owes me a few hundred bucks but we need the money going towards our family theres five of us and our parents.) I'm her first child her first teen so by nature she has no idea therefore I have a much harder strainuos childhood than say my baby sister her fifth child. especially in the generation far more advanced
and my mom moved us out the states so I can't ask my aunts because I still need the products and they're expensive I'm just wearing a lot of protective styles no rubber bands and I sometimes mix olive oil hair grease vaseline and coconut oil and my hair grows a centimeter over night.
Love you.
Hello, what products did you use exactly along the journey when your hair was very short please.
I mostly used shea moisture, specifically their jbco line ! I always tried out cantu but it flaked in my hair.
