Those chain binders you showed last are so frustrating, the newer style ones that you showed before it are SO much better. Strapping and chaining everything down and then having to stop several times at the start of the run to retighten everything before continuing on the journey.... great video Johnno!!!ps where are you now? Last episode you were remote WA?
Do you use any of the truck winch straps. No loose ends. All on a roll. I've driven a few trucks with that style of strap. With the standard thread through sort I'm one of those double back guys. And then I tie the excess off above the ratchet. Probably not the Aussie way. But I'm not Aussie. With the chain binders I've only used the old ratchet sort. They were most commonly used. It is like the rope truckie hitch. There must be a dozen ways of doing that. I use two or three. Especially if it is raining. Version I was shown to stop slip on wet rope. Have to secure that load. Your responsibility.

Just because you can't do it the other way doesn't mean it's wrong, they probably think your way is wrong. Truckies have different ways of doing all kinds of things and as long as what they do is safe and legal and even if it's different then what you do it doesn't mean it's wrong, it's just different.
Yes I get what you're saying. Maybe I just need to be shown this other way better.
Hi johno I take it you have made it into perth okay take care
Yes I'm in Perth. Got a few things on but I don't know what load I'll get. Mum is flying back in from overseas Thursday so I went to before then.
I had a job where I carried steel for a while, intermittently between other loads. What a nightmare! Strapping and chaining everything down and then having to stop several times at the start of the run to retighten everything before continuing on the journey.... great video Johnno!!!ps where are you now? Last episode you were remote WA?
I'm passing through Penong in South Australia.
Thanks Dave. We have the barrel straps too but I don't like them as much. I can get them as tight when though I have a big bar.
Never had them when I was driving we had the old dog type
Yes. I wouldn't have to go back to those days
You might want to invest in a headcam for some of your shots.
I've got one but i didn't think of it until it was over. Silly me.

How much have (Dog's) changed Johnno what a difference to the old skool (Dog's) wow..
A piece of pipe or a "Dogbar"..
How do they hold compared to the old one's mate..
I used to do my Straps the same as you mate..
Thanks Scott. I used to like the old centre over binder and would use it with a pipe. They were great.
@RoadTrainAdventures 💯 Johnno..
Do the new one's hold the freight as good..
Definitely. Very tight
How about the old school pull down dogs lol
They were the best with a 1 metre pipe on the end. They're not allowed anymore.
People from Perth talk very weird 🤣
Ha ha.
Different type of dog that I used use we had to get a piece of pipe and pull the dog down
Yes they are the best. I wish we still had those.
@@RoadTrainAdventures how far did you get today
I'm at Ceduna now having some food then I'll continue on. Hopefully to Nullarbor.
@@RoadTrainAdventures no worries did you have oysters I have a dozen in freezer they came from coffin bay love oysters
No I had Hungry Jacks
Those screw binders are garbage 🗑
You got that right
@RoadTrainAdventures u always run out of thread before the chain is tight or it twists the chain up. Ratchet ones are so quick and easy.
Ha ha. Yes them you have to undo it all to grab another bite.
Thanks
Awesome. Thanks Mark
Your welcome Jono, the strap I also have been doing it incorrectly ..so thx. And I am coming across to Perth in the caravan with two other vans.So look out next week, will keep a look out for you.
