I hate you John. Could only do 8lb rear delts, 10lb partials and 75lb smith press. Afterwards, my arms were shaking. I apparently have never hit my shoulders before in my life.... Looking forward to laughing at this comment in a year when i actually have delts 💪

I had weak rear delts and decided last year to train them first on my pressing/shoulder day. I wasn't aware that I was doing something right. It just made sense to me to hit them while I was fresh, so I could give them 100%. Sometimes it's nice hearing someone with much more experience validate your methods. Thanks for the great content!

ok, so added the partial delt raises to my workout yesterday. These worked GREAT!! nearly zero trap engagement once I got zero'd in. From my mental notes: 1. Pay special close attention to how high you raise the dumbells, this is going to be different for everyone and where traps start to engage 2. To get full benefit of the heavier weight and get max pump, fully contract the delts in the lower position before beginning the lift. When you perform the lift keep this max contraction all the way up and all the way down. Let the dumbells come to rest, relax the contraction. Rinse and repeat keeping a steady 1-2 second rhythm for 12 reps or more. I did 5 straight sets of 12 walking up the rack. What a new feeling for me. My middle delts are finally sore!! This is now a perm part of my delt workout!! I should start to see new gains in about 3-4 weeks if my shoulders react to this the way I think they will.

I really hope people understand that not too long ago people were paying money for magazines with generic instruction and dehydrated bodybuilders flexed during the movement to “inspire”. I’m so glad for channels like this that make me want to go to the gym and try it out, more than any magazine ever did.

Haven’t been training for a while. Went to get a haircut from a barber And got into training discussions. Long story short.. found out this OG had passed away. Was genuinely devastated.. I just wanna say your rear delt swings (which I do chest supported) has completely transformed my upper back. I’m completely natty but my rear Delts completely pop out of my t-shirts. Furthermore, my posture has improved drastically from all the high volume rear delt swings with the rep scheme of 30/20/15.
You’re the best! I am 42 and started lifting again. I am naturally strong but I noticed a lot of pains. You are the only one seems to know to not do this exercise first or stop here to save your shoulders. Wish I could shake your hand!
Ok I implemented the first two exercises into my shoulder routine, I have to say, it worked great and was less stress on my shoulders, the small movement worked great! The burn was awesome!!
He's completely right regarding the barbell shoulder press; once you lower the bar under eye level the injury risk rises. It's a good burner when lifting and lowering within that range.
Really like your videos especially as I'm back training after 10 years away and have a broken collar bone and dislocated shoulder 4 times so learning new angles is really helpful thank you

I’ve tried a bunch of different UA-cam shoulder routines and Johns routine in this video is very easy and produces a pump and burn almost immediately upon starting this routine.
I'm gonna do the first 2. But the 3rd one not sure I can do it because I don't have cables, think I still be good if I do the first 2 and then end it with resistance bands ohp?
Great to see someone else doing the isolation movements before finishing with the heavier compound movement. So much more effective in targeting the intended muscle. Too many egos out there wanting to lift the heavier weight (pressing) when they're fresh rather than seeking maximal growth and mind/muscle connection.

Tried the cable side lateral today. 98% improvement in trap engagement. My gym's set up isn't quite the same though. Pretty close but not identical.

I do lighter weight also with higher reps! Light weight and high reps seem better on the joints! Still get that burn!

I do the partial side lateral raise and do a drop set down to 10-15lb dumbbells and burnout with full reps... It's a killer combo!

I’ve tried a bunch of different UA-cam shoulder routines and Johns routine in this video is very easy and produces a pump and burn almost immediately upon starting this routine.
These videos make you want to hit the gym asap. Awesome stuff.

I'm gonna do the first 2. But the 3rd one not sure I can do it because I don't have cables, think I still be good if I do the first 2 and then end it with resistance bands ohp?

Great to see someone else doing the isolation movements before finishing with the heavier compound movement. So much more effective in targeting the intended muscle. Too many egos out there wanting to lift the heavier weight (pressing) when they're fresh rather than seeking maximal growth and mind/muscle connection.
