      the timing is actually pretty easy: you have to think of his body chevks in 3 parts: announcing - pause - execute... when he does a body check he announces it (i guess you know the animation) and then pauses in that position very shortly before he executes the chevk... this tiny pause is when you have to roll... i hope thisll help you :)

    This video alone shows why this series is absolutely brilliant. Sure, you get better gear like any character enhancement RPG-esque game, but its based heavily on skill.
    You get stuck, you hafta get better. You can't level up, buy better gear, etc.

      I tried to explain this to a friend of mine and he said WoW is the same way . . . . Couldn't convince him other wise obviously he's great at rolling through the hitbox of logical arguments.

    • @micman963
      @micman963 10 років тому +3

      Valosar Aria You can't dodge roll in WoW but that doesn't mean it isn't skill based. People spend years and years on that game mastering their rotations in PvE, or the strategies in PvP. That's why it's a such a big deal to get world firsts in raids, it takes months of dedication, planning, and skill.

    • @solidsnake434
      @solidsnake434 10 років тому +1

      micman963 yup pretty much gear is just a stupid requirement in wow, it has enough gameplay to be 100% skill based, just like GW2, of course, MH is pretty diffferent since the skills of the armors are aimed towards gameplay instead of a certain stat, mostly.

    A classic vid, though I'm not sure why you said 2/30ths of a second. A normal dodge in monhun games has 6 frames of invulnerability, so 6/30ths, or 0.2 seconds, since they all run at 30 frames per second. The timing with evasion +1 is 10 frames, and with +2 it's 12. This only applies for games pre-world, before the change in skills. For reference, a normal roll in Dark Souls 1 has 13 s (@30fps), which is a little less than half a second and is comparatively quite generous. Hope this helps anyone playing old monhun in 2022+

    • @mariodoccia6129
      @mariodoccia6129 Рік тому

      To be fair the s in FU FELT like 2/30th of a second, but that was due to how big the hitboxes were. Every game post FU has dodges that feel longer (with more s) but that was simply because the hitboxes got smaller. In FU is hard to evade even a simple tailspin while in 3/4/Gen I can do it quite consistently.

    Slime weapons really are very powerful. They have excellent raw and sharpness for when you can make them, plus free explosions periodically. If the Brachy weapons had -30% affinity or something they'd be OK, but now there's really little incentive to make other weapons, especially on the faster hitting classes. Try 'em out though, what's fun for me will be different for what's fun for you.

    Hey guys, I found a good way to practice evade for those who dont have jewels. I call this one " The Bomb Dodge practice" xD. This is what you shld do:
    1. Bring plenty of large barrel bombs and large barrel bombs+.
    2. Bring plenty of gunpowders and large barrels for making more LBBs.
    3. Bring all ur book of combos to ensure high success rate.
    4. Bring any melee weapon.
    5. Go do any gathering quest. I recommend all areas tht doesnt have rain.
    6. Get out of the campsite and plant ur bombs.
    7. Attack the LBB and dodge the explosion.
    8. Combine gunpowder and large barrel to make LBBs if you ran out.
    9. Once you can no longer combine, abort the quest. (really recommended so tht you dont lose anything xD).
    10. Repeat step 5 to step 10.
    Note: I recommend you to do gathering quest only in order to save money. I hope this helps xD.

    What I don't understand is the stigma against evasion +1. I can see hate for +2 and +3, but if default is 6 frames that is 2 frames less than dark souls sitting at 8. With evasion +1 you get 10 frames, which is 2 frames more than dark souls but from what I can tell Monster Hunter has more attacks with longer duration AoEs.
    So yes you can do it without any, but does evasion +1 really deserve the flack? Wouldn't Evasion +1 just make Monster hunter closer to dark souls difficulty? OR is dark souls officially noob now too?

      keep in mind this is for mhfu: in this game there are only few attacks that require evade + to be moied thru... (e.g. chaneleos poison)... however all of these can be avoided with positioning... the thing is if you want to become better xou should focus on danage oriented sets (contact me if you need some... i have the best sets in game for you ;))... tge only defensive skill you shall use is earplug because everything else is a damage loss... secondly - you create a wrong feeling for timing and a muscle memory... hard to get rid of that to be serious... so never use it and youll start learning that timings from the beginning... and thirdly: is it still cool to mount the mount everest if you have an elevator? ;)
      btw... i can give you some good quests and tips to practice moi :)

    • @lauramarx8098
      @lauramarx8098 7 років тому +1

      Dark Souls has 13 frames, fwiw, on the fast roll, and 15 with the DWGR (which also has a bit of a stigma, funnily). I think DS's dodge is kind of unique though; its very safe but costs a lot, which matters since your attacks also cost stamina, somethig that isnt true in other action games, and stamina is more important in that game. Dodging is very safe but decreases your advantage, is the idea. Monster Hunter is doing something very different with its dodges; its more of a straight timing challenge that lets you avoid damage at negligable cost, but its hard to do; a better comparison would be DS's parry, tbh - which is also 6 frames.
      I'd like to see how MHs dodges compare to other contemporary action games personally, like Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, but I cant find any numbers for them and idk how to test something like that.

    I was thinking that maybe they could reduce the raw or raise monsters initial tolerance to slime, as they all start out quite low. I don't want to use them simply because I think they are unfair and everyone uses them. I meant I'd maybe be interested in using them if they were a thought out choice instead of the go to weapon, though I guess I shouldn't hold my breath on Capcom fixing them.

    No Bowgun compendium Videos for 3U? No narrated Bowgun Videos? Well, it's up to you, but I'm sure that alot of viewers will miss your videos?

    I would actually find some bow tips interesting too, although from my use they seem to be pretty bland and underpowered. I'm wondering about what changes were made to individual shots now, because pierce and pellet seem pretty weak

    I am playing through 3U on 3Ds currently, but don't think I'll be doing more videos. It's just too easy now, people don't need guides any more and who can be at Slime for speed runs?

    Recommendations bringing this back from the crypt. This is one of the vids that helped me git gud, along with that Bowgun Compendium you did way back.
