I'm here in 2020, more specifically July 2020. Alatreon was just added into Iceborne. This very video was the first Gaijin video I watched. Was a glaive main back in 4U and this video popped up when I tried to find guides for kinsect cuz the kinsect system was very complicated and messy in 4U. He has a certain charm to his voice to make me feel relaxed after some salt from continuous carts to Rajang. He goes thru everything step by step and very carefully. I knew I was hooked right away, been here forever and will still be here. I might be back in 2025 to check in again. Thank you so much Gaijin and thank you all wonderful subscribers. Much love.
I also went here after setting off the dust in my 3ds. I was also a regular on his vids until I took hiatus 4 years ago. Need a refresher to get into hunting apex once again.
Gaijin, I want to thank you. I followed this guide using the second method, and it worked perfectly. I used the same glaive you did and everything, and it’s really nice having a great kinsect. I appreciate this stuff.
9:20 just to skip straight to the good method. 11:25 for misc. materials. 39 Power+ to 132 Power 19 Speed+ to 96 Speed 19 Stamina+ to 96 Stamina 30 Speed+ to 150 Speed 114 Power, 96 Stamina, 150 Speed total.
Probably already mentioned. While you might mess up things. As long as you do not evolve your kinsect you can always change it. You can always feed your kinsect after the fact. So you can always work on changing it back. This works great if you are upgrading your glaive while using it. As you can go full speed from the start and you just save up all your power nectars, then dump those in at the end, reducing speed back to 60, but at the same time you can get the evolution and stronger glaive, while you had a speedy bug.
The only thing stopping me from going Glaive at any point before G was thinking I had to have the ++ nectars. Now that i know I can do it with just +, I may just make a glaive my next project. Love the tutorials, thanks for the English version!
Dude, this guide was amazing! I'm just getting into MH but I am loving it. Very enjoyable to see the different quests and items. Trying to get my block/evade timing on point ;)
So helpful, thank you so much Gaijin. I love that you decided to commentate in your videos as this makes it easier for me to internalize the material. Keep it up Broski.
Don't forget you can save your game before beginning either process (or your own) and if it does not work out how you planned just load the save and no harm done.
Man, I'm so lucky, I just bought this game on the Eshop and wasn't sure of how it worked here, it's completly different from Generations but now I don't have to ruin my IG, thanks a lot!
Dude after all these years I got this recommended again. I'm still an IG main and this video was a big part of me not giving up this weapon(s) Thank you Gaijin!
Extract extend is the best but nobody is telling you that it's your only option. Extract efficacy L is nice too if you want to be overpowered for a short time. Seriously the health boost you get makes akantor and ukanlos fights trivial. you wont even touch a potion. You might want to look into what other skills there are and what trees you need to follow though because you can easily screw yourself over. (It's why if I make a glaive in G rank i make sure i over farm so I can fully upgrade in bulk so i can restart if i slip up)
BlaizeTheDragon But from most standpoints, you really don't have those other options. Going for any other option hampers yourself, and that's not what you want to do at all. It's like saying Blue sharpness weapons are fine in late G Rank. Yeah, you can use them, but Purple ones are just flat out better every time. Those other kinsects are only useful for novelty or super specialized circumstances.
That's pretty much what a "meta game" is: The most optimal way to play a game. What grinds my gears is when people say "OH FUCK ALL THAT, I LIKE TO PLAY *MY* GAMES FOR FUN!" because it is as if they are implying that grinding for mixed and matched equipment and acquiring very potent skills in order to kill a monster quicker than the norm is boring, yet wearing matching armor sets only to look cool or thinking the game ends at low/high rank is fun. There's nothing wrong with playing a game at a "casual" level, but when you consider people like them as the reason for the dip in the quality of modern gaming then that is when people who actually know how to invest time into something they love need to speak up.
Gaijin. What do you think of people who hack in armor/weapons/talismans, should I kick them? Today I actually met a person online who told me they had a hacked talisman(ooo Auto Guard +10, Defense +14). They were G2 and also had a honed Rare 10 Daora CB and full G-Rank Dalamadur armor. It just infuriates me that people like us dedicate time and effort to make these armor sets, and then there are people who just cheat there way up. It kinda ruins some of the fun of mh imo because of the satisfaction that comes with completing a set or defeating a difficult quest.
You can easily gather ++ Nectars on any G-rank expedition or Guild Quest, no need for Treasure area. On most areas, you might see acorn-like gathering points on the ground. Those give either elemental Nectars or ++ Nectars. Some zones, such as the one with the shallow streams (Kelbi / Aptonoth feeding area), almost always have both. If they're blue, you get 2 Nectars per gather. Each node either gives only elemental Nectar or only ++ Nectars.
Thank you so much for this Gaijin hunter. I was one of people that really asked for this on your other video! Really appreciate the effort you have put into the MH community.
gaijin hunter Speaking of Kinsects. In your tutorial for insect glaives you left out 2 skill that you can use. If you press "R" in one of your combos you will strike the monster with the end of your staff allowing you to mark them that way, as well before releasing your kinsect you can actually hold the "X" button and charge your staff up before letting your Insect go causing it to move faster and hit a lot harder.
i wrote down this recipe based on the video power > LV3 power-type speed > LV6 power-type Speed > LV8 Stamina > LV10 Blue Type Speed! 150 Power++! 114 correct?
just want to say that u can get max stat (114 power, 60 stamina, 150 speed) with only simple + nectars with gaijin hunters method if u do it a little diffent. all u need is to at lvl 11 after u filled the growth bar shift ur points to power til u have 114 power. then upgrading ur kinsect and put the rest of ur points into speed. hope this helps. and thanks this video has been a great help.
It may be just me; as I just started getting used to the Insect Glaive, but they are pretty easy to make and upgrade. It's just expensive. Like I only had to had the Flaming Crimson Fatalis twice to have all the materials I need and all those little hunts, (Damn Flutterflies.) to get the materials needed to upgrade. I had like 7 or 8 digits of zenny and now after fully upgrading the Crimson Glaive, I'm a bit under 5 or 4. Don't remember the exact numbers. Then again, it's probably just me as mentioned above, I only started using Insect Glaive.
I'm glad I didn't waste too many high rank and G rank parts on upgrading insect glaives. I had been upgrading with the element+ nectars you get early in the game. Having elemental damage wasn't as impressive as I'd hoped, and this looks like the way to go in any case.
Hint: Don't use any of the elemental nectars! Not only do they only give 1 to the important stat, but you will never be attacking with the kinsect except to get juiced, making them completely useless filler that you could just sell.
I don't know about you guys, but having used melfs kinsect guide from the very beginning of the game for my IGs, i didn't have any problems using a very slow bug
The method is great but I also like to use my buggy buddy as a weapon, with this method I don't get elemental damage so I'll stick to get cutting speed and stamina since I can keep cut tails with it. :)
To all people who play this game in german: Kraft+-Nektar = Power+Nectar Ausdauer+-Nektar = Stamina+Nectar Geschwindgkt+Nkt = Speed+Nectar Why i wrote that? They actually added a " - " at Stamina and Power Nectar after the " + ". But at Speed its still just " + ".
Hi! The description says 114 power and "60" stamina and 150 speed, Is that a typo for the 60 stamina? Thanks for all of the great videos gaijin hunter! They helped me a bunch all the time! :)
Gaijin there are 2 ways of getting the effect extender so it might be good to also show the second method It starts via stamina based kinsect try it out
I never realized how much damn materials you need to upgrading this thing all at once, I had to stop midway during the upgrade phase to collect mega demondrugs and demonpills it took forever, and that was only for one glaive!! I have four I need to make lmao
Love your guides/tutorials! They're very informative. I was wondering, could you do a guide on the whole VE Ticket system?? All I've learned from research online is that the colour of your guild card corresponds to amount of unique quests you've done and has something to do with unity level which gets you different level tickets (Bronze, silver, gold, cosmic, etc) But it was all SUPER confusing to me, I can't tell what colour my guild card is supposed to be and have no Idea how to get the higher tickets D: If you did a guide that would be amazing! If not I understand, just thought it might be a good Idea for people like me who are confused about that whole system.
You know, I seem to be able to do this blind. At the end of it all, I always seem to find myself to get 96 in all stats before I get to level 10 and I can see the option of the bug I want. THAT SAID however, I'm not fully funded at the moment so when the time comes and I can amass some funds, I may follow this step in order.
For a long time I’ve been hoping Gaijin Hunter would make a tutorial on how to make the most powerful Elemental Kinsect. But I guess it’s not really gonna happen? Loved this video though, I’ve used it for all my glaives a few years ago.
Thanks Gaijin! I'm using this guide to help make a Seltas IG that'll be useful down the road. That'll be my 'test glaive', before I start to make more IG's in this style C:
What if someone was crazy enough to farm ++ Nectar and use it instead of the Wycoon purchasable + ones, would we be hitting the same result or do they really only matter at the end once you do have the bug set?
I love the IG in 4U but in my opininion they improved the kinsects in GU, since you were technically locked to use one kinsect in 4U, in GU however you had this cool skills in other kinsects like the affinity bug or the termor res bug (which was the only way I was able to solo my first G Rank Jho and Rajang)
the final dalamadur glaive would definitely make it on the list of top 5 too, 930 raw, something around 300 blast, no affinity, insane sharpness and 1 slot. just waiting for the dlc with g-rank dalamadur :)
Yo. Love your videos. Can u make a top 5 list of your favourite insect glaive plz. Not sure which glaive to use personally. I understand different glaivre elements for different hunts, but which one would u recommend for a '1 glaive for all fights'. Thx keep up good work.
Would you mind doing a tutorial of how to do all this with ++ nectars in order to get a bit more better version in the end? I'm also a bit confused of how low rarity the weapon has to be in the beginning in order to have enough upgrades available to reach EE. Do I always have to start from the bottom of weapon's tree? And what about if certain weapon has just a few version upgrades available in stead of 10?
Hey gaijin, I would like to know what are the other top insect glaves you mentioned? you said that it was one of hte top 5, what are the others? thanks and keep up the great work!
you might not see this but... Why don't you use elemental nectar? the element power and speed would work in a certain way to make it into an ultimate build
Gotta wonder if you're ever gonna (or, if I've somehow missed it, ever have) posted how damage calculation works with the Kinsect's attacks, or how much KO/Exhaust Blunt ones offer.
The one thing I don't understand is: how do we know at what point the weapon upgrade paths intersect with the kinsect levels? For example, how do I know before starting that a lv 10 kinsect will occur during Needle Vine or Paralyzing Vine? Also are there any IG upgrade families that can reach a lv10 kinsect before G2 materials are required?
I dont justify any hacking at all. Ill restart my 500 hour character if i have to when i find out the charm table setup to get on the one that i want if i dont like mine. The point of the game is to struggle and farm for days on end just to get that precious tali you needed.
Weird, at level 10 I end up looking at 105 Power, 96 Stamina, and 96 Speed, unlike GaijinHunter's 114 Power. I think I might've messed up somewhere. I'm upgrading the Blunt Dios glaive btw.
After you get effect extender you pump power ++ just to increase the kinsect damage. So would element ++ be a viable alternative? You make an ice glaive and use it against ice weak monsters so if the kinsect does ice too would it be as good or better than power?
Can you make a video for the other Super Kinsects? I made a brach glaive as a speed since I wasn't in G rank yet but I don't want to get rid if it. I would just like to make the Speed + Stamina Kinsect.
i noticed that the power ++ and stamina ++ nectars don't have negatives in the other base stats beside elements. in that case if you farmed up a shitload of them from expeditions would you be able to make a kinsect with even better stats or is that wishfull thinking? i realise it would also take a shitload of effort
The one thing I can't find mentioned anywhere is can I start this with ANY IG? The only one I have available to me is the Bone Staff and I don't want to start putting in Nectars if it's going to screw it up in the end. Someone please answer!
How to blow off your Caravan Points 101. Seriously, after I realized I would be making this Kinsect for all of my glaives I used up all of my CP buying loads of nectar.
Can someone explain to me what are the various benefits of the 5 glaives recommended, especially when compared to other glaives which give either similar effects or damage?
Mechanics question. In the older games, using a pill and then a seed would grant the potency of the pill with the duration of the seed. Pop an adamant pill and then an adamant seed and you'd get adamant pill buff for as long as the seed was active, even going so far to extend it by taking more seeds before the buff runs out. Is this mechanic still in this game? I am slightly disappointed that there's only one good Kinsect, but when I have the materials, I may experiment with making this Ultimate Kinsect with added elemental damage. It may require those ++ Nectars for it though.
That mechanic was fixed in the third generation and beyond. And there isn't only one good kinsect, that's just people being lazy. Effect Extender is only worth it/the best in two situations: 1) you are fighting a monster you hate getting a certain color for (this isn't the case for much of anything in g-rank if your bug is fast enough, in my opinion) 2) you are doing a speedrun and buffing up your attack power via heroics or adrenaline+2 and fortify and plan to pretty much finish the monster in one 2 min buff period anyway. As you can see, average play doesn't cover any of those two cases. Try the other bugs, they all have their strengths that cover more common situations in average play.
Could you go over what the gore mgala amror does/how is it special because when i fight it starts glowing red and i haven't been able to find a reason why
I honestly prefer Ladytower over Bilbobrix. Mostly due to the appearance. Then again I run the Helios X set with the Water Kecha Wacha Glaive and have for a while.. so I'm a bit bias. But my Chameleos Glaive has the Bilbobrix.
I've just made to G rank and I've made a Kushala IG. I was planning on following your guide, but I don't have the extender. Why do you have it on yours? Do you get it later on in the G-rank?(sry, MH4U is my 1st MH game) Also, I just saw your Super Kinsect vid, when and how do you get to the Wyverian Trader?
I'm here in 2020, more specifically July 2020. Alatreon was just added into Iceborne. This very video was the first Gaijin video I watched. Hey same here! Gaijin is great, I honestly think he helped me fall in love with monster hunter even more than I had before
I also went here after setting off the dust in my 3ds. I was also a regular on his vids until I took hiatus 4 years ago. Need a refresher to get into hunting apex once again.

Updated, voiced and in English? Your videos are getting better and better! :3

Thank you Gaijin!
For a weapon that looks like it's supposed to be full of customization options, it sucks that this video makes it seem like you have no options.
Sethbeastalan I've had good success and alot of fun with a kinsect focused gameplan and glavie.
***** You know you can be serious and competitive and also have fun, they don't need to be apart like most people try to split them as such.
It kinda ruins some of the fun of mh imo because of the satisfaction that comes with completing a set or defeating a difficult quest.
Boot em!
Why would you even bother hacking an Auto Guard talisman?
You should just kick them because most hackers don't know how to hunt properly.
Same thing happened to me, guy had full White Fatalis set cause of action replay, load of bull.
Who cares. It's a PvE game, it's not competitive. Let people play how they want to play.
You can easily gather ++ Nectars on any G-rank expedition or Guild Quest, no need for Treasure area.

Ugh...I got a lot of Glaives to redo now. T.T
gaijin hunter Speaking of Kinsects.

Kraft+-Nektar = Power+Nectar
Ausdauer+-Nektar = Stamina+Nectar

Gaijin there are 2 ways of getting the effect extender so it might be good to also show the second method
It starts via stamina based kinsect try it out

I never realized how much damn materials you need to upgrading this thing all at once, I had to stop midway during the upgrade phase to collect mega demondrugs and demonpills it took forever, and that was only for one glaive!! I have four I need to make lmao
focusing on the kinsects own damage, the other of the last 2 types is better, as that one ignores the targets armor

+Iron Paladin Keep with the Balanced Kinsect and you'll get it.
I got Bilbobrix without even LOOKING at this tutorial. I didn't even know he was the ultimate! Got lucky I guess...
But what if, by some unholy desire summoning magic, we have enough ++ Nectars to do this using them alone? What kinds of numbers would we be talking?
This guide really helped a lot. Thanks
This also works with Stamina types.
Gaijin's a legend.
Awesome vid, but if you don't mind me asking, what do you use for your recording? Was interested in how 3ds streamin/recording works.
Just got into playing Glaives and whoah...love it!!
@gaijin hunter . can i use method 1 for every(only going to make the top 5 glaives) kinsect??:o
you might not see this but...
Useful as always buddy :D
Now making this Kinsect-making technique with the Direspike Display. O.o
Wow, I made the Daora glaive just minutes before watching this video! Score!
So this guide helped a lot but I was wondering does this set up work for all glaves ever para ones ?
I don't know if it's just me, but I do seem to like the Shah Dalamadur insect glaive too. xD
I dont justify any hacking at all. Ill restart my 500 hour character if i have to when i find out the charm table setup to get on the one that i want if i dont like mine. The point of the game is to struggle and farm for days on end just to get that precious tali you needed.
You're voice sounds fine dude. The stammering will get better with practice.
Best guide thx :)
u said wind focus 3:15 man, also why are those 5 the best 5? the rath one is like the kushala but fire is that a huge difference?
Your Recipe List at the end is missing 5 Monster Essence.
I was nevertheless able to make a Hazy caster with EE and 150 Speed in one shot. Thanks!
What happens if you make a mistake?
Because it happened to me with the Gore glaive and I don't know what I have to do...
Got recommended this today randomly
Weird, at level 10 I end up looking at 105 Power, 96 Stamina, and 96 Speed, unlike GaijinHunter's 114 Power. I think I might've messed up somewhere. I'm upgrading the Blunt Dios glaive btw.
Liger 00 Jäger
Yep, I messed it up. Added one too many stamina.
I remember following this guide years ago! This was randomly recommended to me, probably cuz of MHWilds
After you get effect extender you pump power ++ just to increase the kinsect damage. So would element ++ be a viable alternative? You make an ice glaive and use it against ice weak monsters so if the kinsect does ice too would it be as good or better than power?
Probably depends on hitzones for element because they're variable and separate from impact and cutting damage hitzones
No one said it would be cheap.
Can someone explain to me what are the various benefits of the 5 glaives recommended, especially when compared to other glaives which give either similar effects or damage?
Totally confused, I've tried twice now to get this kinsect on the brachy IG but it doesn't work. I somehow ended up with the gleambeatle.
Effect extender is from kinsect leveling and its the final kinsect that is chosen during this video that grants effect extender
