Every video is literally a master class in aviation. I'm sitting on my front porch with a cup of coffee getting ready for an instrument lesson today and literally typing things into my checklist ("ALWAYS use a checklist") as I go. I can't thank you enough for sharing these videos, Guido.

      Only my pleasure.
All the best for you instrument training.
Once you have it, use it on every flight.
you will notice that the "real" IFR flying is much easier than the stuff you do during the flight training.

      Smooth lan dings are overrated.
More important is to touch down at the right speed, the right point on the runway and under full control until taxi speed.
A greaser landing is a nice add on though.

I was stationed at Keflavik in the early 70's while the US military still controlled the base there. That's where I got my private license in the Navy aero club's Cherokee 140. We would do cross country flights to the damndest places. Grass fields where we would have to make a low pass to make sure all the sheep had cleared the runway. Flew to Vestmannaeyjar several times prior to the volcano erupting there. Fun times.

@@GuidoWarnecke You are right about rough weather. At times the Navy invoked the "Two-man rule". No one was allowed outside by themselves because the wind and cold was so bad. I really liked flying best during the summer when daylight was almost 24 hours a day. I could take the aero club's Cherokk out at 0300 and get a few solo hours in before work.

@@GuidoWarnecke I started in 1982 with Psion's Flight Simulator on the ZX Spectrum. Isn't it magnificent how far flight sims have come since then. I've "re enacted" many of your flights in the past, using these videos as training and reference materials. I must say that I've never been happier with my flight simming than I have been this last 12 months with MSFS and in VR - the level of immersion is quite incredible and way beyond that which I had back in 1982 on my humble Speccy. Now all I need is some kind of 3D movement platform for me and my flight simming rig and my mission will be complete!!! 😉
