Great video! I chatted several times with you pre-dawn along McKinley Pier while I was walking out to fish, and while you were waiting to take someone out at the launch. I always learn a lot from your videos and hope to see you on the water some time!
Glad to hear the concern about fish survival and not killing everything we catch we have a rule in our house no one buys fish in a store that we could catch ourselves
Jawjacker now has a jiging base. Thats a big advantage. While I prefer to jig myself I feel that the fish I catch with the jawjacker are bonus fish. The icing on the cake.
Fishing In Idaho yes I’ve used it however if your not careful how you store them the springs will fall out easily so they are not that durable and made for a long rough ride .... but yes they do work well as an extra jigging rod
Not sure if I dare offer advice to the king... but the Automatic Fisherman “Snapper” is kind of a mix of the two, mainly a smaller profile of the original Automatic Fisherman but just as hefty built and that’s what I’ve been running lately. Try one out!
I got a boat waiting for you with rigs and ready to secure the flathead cat point. I think I can get you over the 10" bluegill hump! haha Best of luck in season 3! Aka The comeback!
Always appreciate an honest review. What do they go for money wise? For each unit. Thanks Eric, lots of great information. I shared you on my community tab. Adrian
True North Angler both work great and at times in the extreme cold I’ve had issues with jaw Jackers ..... cost for a jaw jacker is around $29.99 Cost for Autos are around $50.00 hope that helps
Fished with both, I agree the auto is a tank and i do feel like I'm going to break or lose pieces off of the jacker but it does pack down and takes up less space in the sled.
trowber24 I’m always checking my drags because the cold will have a drastic effect on the drag. Also depends on the size of the fish but the rods are designed to handle big Head shakes.
I've had a lot of luck with the jawjackers. Also smacked myself with it too a few times. The jacker is compact but I agree about durability, however so far so good and I ve had them for 3 seasons. Eric you are money! I feel for you brother on the 39 hours!!! How is late October fishing in Milwaukee area? Might be there this year and would like to book a trip.
Which one of your rods would you recommend for admittedly small trout in the jaw jackers?I’ve been scoping them for a while, but we rarely have an opportunity to catch 5lb rainbows or browns. Most of the trout we catch run under 3lbs, and I’m just concerned your bigger rods won’t play as well with small fish?
Carl Powers it will still work however you need to clean your holes more often and use ice stoppers. In extreme blizzard type conditions a round circular tip up will work best.
why cant you use the loop on the hook setter instead of the eye? no loop with the setter? zip tie? Jacker seems to be weak in design, but I guess thats job security.
I always felt like a Jaw jacker is cheating... still considering buying one though :) Great vid. I’m a big clumsy oaf so the automatic fisherman might be better for me.
Paul Morabito we are allowed to fish 3 lines and we jig with rod in hand and use these hook setting devices for the other lines. For trout these work very well.
imagine not having any idea what you're talking about. Try setting different 5 hooks spread out over 50 yards of ice, without knowing which one is the one getting bit, then come spout your shit.
Idiots Outdoors yes me too! Should have done so many things differently but had no time to pre fish due to charter trips everyday. If it ever happens again I promise things will be muck more different. My first season so now I get it with the points.... 🤷🏿♂️✌️
Matthew Horabik I did a bunch of Live stuff on the gram but did not shoot a video. We had a lot going on that day also had another guy out so it’s hard to film and stay focused guiding. If I had someone videoing and editing them yes it would always be up.... sorry
Love the way you inform and your promotion of resources protection

Been using jaw jacker since they've came out in the very beginning glad you guys finally found them
Glad to hear the concern about fish survival and not killing everything we catch we have a rule in our house no one buys fish in a store that we could catch ourselves
Jawjacker is my favorite. I use a stand to keep it off the ice so the mechanism never freezes and I attach a Bluetipz alarm so I never miss a fish.
Just bought a haat mystery tube cant wait for it to come in tomorrow, thanks again
@eren mori I can't understand your English, Nor your sense of humor
I have a JawJacker and I haven’t used it, but I will now that I kind of got a better idea of how to use it. Thanks Eric!!
Great review! Im a jawjacker owner and love them! Game changer for trout
Awesome breakdown of both units!!! Thank you for this vidddjo
Your expertise is why I subscribe, Thank you Eric!
Why are you no longer posting man? Need more vids😁 I understand if you have stuff going on. But we miss ya
Great review and congrats on 50K!
Great video man!
Great video! Happy to hear the advantages and disadvantages to both products. Thanks
I immediately recognized L'anse:) So awesome to have you up here! I was just on the bay this evening!
UP Fishing Let's Go! Great time!

Nothing but great content!!!
Know 1 thanks buddy
You need to try the auto-jaw jacker it catches me so many fish it’s amazing.
Not sure if I dare offer advice to the king... but the Automatic Fisherman “Snapper” is kind of a mix of the two, mainly a smaller profile of the original Automatic Fisherman but just as hefty built and that’s what I’ve been running lately. Try one out!
BackWaterBlazer I’ve yet to try one ..... all three will work and both have advantages and disadvantages.
Very much agreed! With the jaw jackers being on sale for $30 at sportsmans right now that’s pretty hard to beat. Great video as usual Eric 🤙
I tried the Snapper and hated it...Jaw Jacker is way better
Thank you for the tips and tricks! Tight lines man!
You da man Eric. Great Video!
The Professional Amateur 👊👊🤘
Keep the videos coming, good information.
I got a boat waiting for you with rigs and ready to secure the flathead cat point. I think I can get you over the 10" bluegill hump! haha Best of luck in season 3! Aka The comeback!
Ben Geisbauer perfect thanks redemption!

Eric Haataja
Thanks Eric, I appreciate it.
Nice video man!!!

Eric when you making a new video man! I’ve been waiting a month!
Ray Marsh sorry Cal has been producing my videos and he’s got another job. Working on it thanks
Nice upload👌👌👍 New SUB!!!
Great information, thanks for making this. How tight do you usually set your drag when using a Jawjacker?
trowber24 I’m always checking my drags because the cold will have a drastic effect on the drag. Also depends on the size of the fish but the rods are designed to handle big Head shakes.
Great video and info!
The problem with any of these is the hole icing up. Who’s going to create a heat puck to place in the whole along with these or the i fish pro?
Get an ice stopper and problem solved
Both are great units. I just hate loading my rods up like that

Z Wiggles I’d suggest the 36 medium light it’s perfect for small trout and panfish
Eric Haataja thank you for the quick reply!
I like the idea of the “jaw jacked” , but it seems temperature dependent. If the hole ices up slightly, does it still work? A tip up will work.
Carl Powers it will still work however you need to clean your holes more often and use ice stoppers. In extreme blizzard type conditions a round circular tip up will work best.
Need more videos let's go!!!
Looks like L'anse Michigan! Great video!
Tad Rowe yes we are here now shooting our next You Tube video and we caught them good today. Cohos, Splake, Browns, Lakers, and a Herring.
@@wibigfishcom that's awesome, keep the beatdown on them and come fish the Western UP by Ironwood sometime!
NZ crew checking in
Love the jaw jacker!!!
I wish either one of those devices were legal in MN
Only Jaw Jackers for me..what power is that baitcaster? Medium light?
Fishin_Wisco yes ML Haat Rod baitcaster
@@wibigfishcom what baitcaster reels do you use?
why cant you use the loop on the hook setter instead of the eye? no loop with the setter? zip tie? Jacker seems to be weak in design, but I guess thats job security.
Well I guess I need more tackle
Haven’t been out on the ice this year yet, no safe ice
Where do you live at that there isn't safe ice?
Move further north I’ve had safe ice since November
Aydan Waters about to do that
Justin Cable south of Albany NY
I always felt like a Jaw jacker is cheating... still considering buying one though :) Great vid. I’m a big clumsy oaf so the automatic fisherman might be better for me.
Eric check out the “fincky fooler auto”
I don’t mind the tip in. But that’s me 🇨🇦
Fish Ooon 🤪
You should design and market a better device!
Imagine going fishing and not setting your own hooks. May as well just fish at the grocery store
Paul Morabito we are allowed to fish 3 lines and we jig with rod in hand and use these hook setting devices for the other lines. For trout these work very well.

I’m extremely disappointed in your 39 hrs performance.

Eric Haataja next time you should have me as a partner and we’d show them Canadians how it’s really 😂.
Excuses bud. Show some respect to team Mb for the beatdown.
When is the video with Donald Trump Jr coming out?
Matthew Horabik I did a bunch of Live stuff on the gram but did not shoot a video. We had a lot going on that day also had another guy out so it’s hard to film and stay focused guiding. If I had someone videoing and editing them yes it would always be up.... sorry
