Alberta Walleye Wars Part 2: The River Sessions
After working hard and not being able to cross the 30" mark I knew it was time to hit the river. With work being super busy and the leaderboard being consisting of mostly the same fish I knew I could bring A river monster to the top if things lined up correctly, but will they? check it out!

Alberta Walleye Wars 2022
Переглядів 215Рік тому
After not fishing walleye since late ice season I decided to give Walleye Wars a go with hopes my previous years knowledge would come into play. It was tough slugging from the beginning but I managed to pattern some absolute hog walleyes. Will it be enough for the W?! Follow along this two part series to find out! #walleye #walleyefishing #fishing

Sometimes I get to the spot with no issues, and well sometimes....... you'll just have to watch and find out! Early Ice Trout feed like crazy that's no secret. There are plenty of plastics and spoons to work the water with, but my favorite is a rattlebait. These bites don't always present themselves however this morning was little different. Keep in mind it may be a short window to capitalize o...

Not mentioned - what kind of line do you use? I love using water bobbers - I use BPS 10lb (4lb mono equiv) XPS8 braid in hi-vis yellow. You get to make long casts but have hook setting power. I use vanish as my leader line. Who doesn't love bobber fishing....seeing your bobber go under/up/under - set the hook!

Which rod in the lineup would you recommend for big stocked trout? Looking to get some big browns and rainbows and I hooked a couple last year but they just shook the hook. Mostly fish small rattle baits and spoons

With mostly small rattlebaits and spoons I'd go with the drench. Its my go to trout rod, and I've had walleye up to 12 pounds on it so it can handle big fish for sure. If you're going to a run a dead stick the dipstick is a great option.

I tie them myself using heavy t bars and 80lb mono. Mono is important over flourocarbon to allow for stretch around the beads. Flouro will simply break every single time. There a piece of 20 pound that connects my weight to the barrel swivel just to break away should I get snagged or worse case break a fish off. 80lb braid for the mainline makes breakoffs very rare but there is always that chance.
