Anyways,
I've been talking about it for awhile...today we are FINALLY going to tackle it.
This week we are installing the OX Locker and 5.38s into the Superduty Dana 60! Welcome to the Cherokee Resurrection Series Part 13.
This video turned into a long one, took awhile to edit, but I heard y'all liked the longer, more in depth videos, so I don't think it should be a problem.
We used these products in this video! (Ordered all through OXUSA. Thank you to OXUSA for helping me out a TON on getting all the parts I needed to do this in a timely fashion!)

**WEEKLY UPDATE: I am currently on my seventh week traveling for work. Thanks y'all for hanging in there with me. I am dying to get back for good so I can really get some work done to the Cherokee and we can get back to WEEKLY uploads. Until then, you can expect a video every other week! (One man show over here). I am currently working on regearing and locking the Sterling 10.5, then I'll be throwing that back into the Jeep, along with the Dana 60 and we can start on the good stuff....sliders and boatsides!**
As always be sure to follow us on Instagram for real time updates, if you're watching the series in real time I'm about 2 weeks ahead of each video I post on here, so head over to Instagram for sneak peaks!

When you press the bearing on the pinion gear you can take an old bearing and pull the cage and rollers off, open up the inside a little like a setup bearing to use as a press spacer then flip the pinion upside down on the press and press the pinion down into the bearing.
Hey Ron a trick you can do in a pinch on short notice is that when you need a longer bolt but you don’t want to wreck the bolts that come in your puller kit, is to simply weld 2 or more nuts together and then you have a “coupling nut” I’ve done that a couple times
I’ll have to give that a shot next time!
I installed OX lockers in the front and rear of my 99 xj along with chrome Molly axles and simply love them, I’ve got 4.88 gears as well and it is amazing off-road.
Can't go wrong with 4.88s! That's what we run in our other Cherokee, as well as what we ran in the Resurrection Cherokee up until this point.
I put my bearing race in a vice and then the bearing inside the race, then i hone it out. It works at honing it out evenly
Not a bad idea. I’ll try that out next time.
I think you will enjoy the ox lockers. You should purchase the drive away lock kit its like 25 bucks or so its the thing that lets you lock and unlock the locker if your cable or shift mechanism fails it comes in a little container you can keep in the jeep somewhere
I did pick one of those up, that was a big selling point for me. I think it’s a great idea if I am to run out of co2/blow a line etc.
@@backcountrybeagles I think if I remember correctly I read that you can work the locker on CO2 like 900 times just off a paintball size CO2. I thought that was kinda crazy. My ox lockers use the manual shift cables it was difficult to get the little shifters mounted cleanly and both going the same direction I really wanted a clean setup. I was so split between whether or not to do air accuated or the cables but I did the cables.
I do have CO2 from a 15lb power tank and I also have onboard air from a viair dual system. I particularly had trouble with the front cable routing I ran it through some of the axle bracketry then I got some nice billet cable hold downs etc... oh and I found rubber grommets for the pass throughs it's pretty freaking elaborate I spent a long time making it really clean and planning. I haven't seen another cable install like mine.
One thing I would do if I had air accuated is I would replace the plastic line with a stainless braided hose and AN fittings. I think ARB sells braided hose kits but I would just make my own.
Great work!
Final assembly is always a good day! Good job man 👍🤘
I’d have to agree, thank you!
Awesome video man. Love this build so very much.
Thanks a ton man!
Thats awesome moving it around on those dollys. I know all about building things in small spaces ive done some sketchy moving things around too in the past.
One shop I worked at we had a 70’s mustang come in with a broken steering column, so we put all four wheels on Dollie’s and pushed it about 100 feet to the back of the shop. I don’t think any of us had done it before because we got going WAY, and I mean WAY too fast for 3 guys and no brakes or steering. Good times haha I think at least one of us shat ourself that day
I need whatever those dollies were….sound a lot better than mine 😂😅
There is a g in bearing.
Couldn’t find it
Very nice!! Setting up gears and lockers scares me to death. I've never touched them, but maybe one day Ill get to do it. I wonder how a cylinder hone would work on setting up setup bearings?
After a few axles it definitely gets easier. I absolutely love regearing at this point!
….i didn’t even think of a cylinder hone, I bet if it was aggressive enough it might just get the job done….ill try that in the future.
What issues have you had with USA standard gear?
I’ve set up about 9 or 10 axles. Always Yukon gears but for one I used USA standard gears. It was in a Dana 30, no locker and really not hard wheeling. It was the only set I had break teeth off the ring gear. Could have been a dozen things that caused it but I rather just stay away from USA standard gear sets.
