Those prices are only going up.. I bought my 96 sport xj for 2k . now in this area they are about double that .. And mine came with nearly 180k miles . shes now 240k and still bucking
I always preferred the ZJ Grand Cherokee's over the XJ's. Both cool, I just love the styling and ease of doing a little lift to get some decent aggressive tires on 'em..
This is the first thing I've ever seen Combs in, and I already love her. Glad she made the most of the time she was given, tragically short though it was.
July 27, 1980 - August 27, 2019 Combs died after crashing a jet-powered high-speed race car in southeastern Oregon while attempting to better her own four-wheel land speed record. She was posthumously awarded the female land-speed world record by Guinness in June 2020
Oof, they tore everything down in the front end, and didn’t bother to swap in some heavy duty ball joints and new ujoints. Or even a wheel bearing for peace of mind. That old thing must been worn
Nah man you can still get them. They run forever that 35 might be five now though inflation and shit. But if you're going to do that many mods you might as well get one a little more beat up. I paid $2,000 for a Cherokee limited though back in 2001!
I felt sad when I saw that Jessi Combs was in the video, never met her but I got really familiar with her from watching her so much. Rest In Peace Jessi
@@bmstylee Fabtech does not have any shock listed for an XJ on their site. They probably have another shock they used for this racing series but didn't cross reference it for the XJ. @@005elise Fox and King make solid shocks as well. These episodes are near 20 years old some of them. Technology for something as simple as a bypass shock has evolved substantially. However specs are not necessarily helpful given each build is different and what they have may not fit your needs.
The video has a problem. The ratio is bad and makes everything shorter and wider. I know neither Ian or Jessie are tall, but they are not that wide. I tried cinema mode, but it's it's not enough.
But, there is an even easier way to do this. Simply inherit lots of money, buy a shop with a hired mechanic. Find an old jeep, pay your mechanic. Whew, all that work.
R.I.P. Jessi Combs . Never to be forgotten. A true legend in motorsports
How did she die?
@@Live-Life-Freely
She crashed breaking a world record. I dont recall how fast. Like 700mph
522mph. Front wheel came apart. R.i.p.
My dad was there when it happened. She was truly an amazing women inside and out

this is my favorite genereation of the cherokee/grannd cherokee by far. i just am a fan of the boxy look and all
I think the Jeep XJs are the best place to start any project from mud to rocks to sand... There easy to find and not to pricey to buy and build..
Getting harder and harder to find unfortunately
Xjs are stupid priced right now. Ok with me. I got a 99 classic.

They have come back down in price now.👍🏼
Jessi combs was so awesome. A racecar driver, car fabricator, and a mythbusters host
That jeep was in immaculate condition! Y'all should have used a real shitbox
lol when this was filmed, they couldn’t find a shitbox……
Awesome thanks guys 🎉😊

Is she dead ?
@@andyclemente4205 yes. She passed away when she crashed setting a new womens top speed record last year or maybe the year before.

Listening to Ian talk I thought, "that guy's Canadian" lo and behold, he's from Perth Ontario! Good ol Canadian boy like myself!!
I miss her she and him made great team
Love them xj
Xj is the perfect starter
Realize y’all this is not as easy as your are watching. Yes I watched it
I do not miss television shows.
Many of these boys are STILL running down here. If you haven’t been to the Swamp Buggy Races, GO!!! It really is an experience.
First performance mod I did on my XJ was pull out that damn door ajar buzzer. Best mod ever.
What year xj do you have, because my 01 doesn’t have a buzzer or if it does it doesn’t work
@@kyranboldt2079 Mine is a '93. It's this round thing near some fuses and relays just above the pedals.
I think it changed from a BUZZ to a BEEP in '97.. not sure which one is more annoying 😂
Looks so much better.
Rip jessi. We love ya

Wow 1st time watching this and looked up who jessi combs was. Great episode with a great cast
Would jeep speed allow a dana 44swapped with trusses n skiplates and chromoly axles? Or any other axle swaps?
Gunpowder & Gasoline - might help if you included the original broadcast date of this video.
I love it!!!!
Where can I find the rest of the video series I am so into jeep speep....rip jessi love to see these memories of her doing what we all love
I know it's been awhile...but they bought that nice XJ for $3500. Those days are gone... 😢

Why didn't they use a sport model not a nice clean and I emphasize clean 95 or 96 classic or limited model and ruined it
