Peter I wish in videos like this you'd show us quick examples of projects you'd use this kind of thing on. I know it sounds silly, but I just bought my first tracksaw and I THINK i understand when I'd use these and how they'd help, but I bet my bottom dollar I am missing things and could use some new ideas! Thanks as always for your great content
Thanks! Two main uses for stop block are for setting start/stop points for repeat cuts, either with a tracksaw or a router. I do mention this in the previous router jig video. The other is to help prevent kickback when plunging full-depth into a workpiece - a sink cut-out in a kitchen worktop is the classic example, where the momentum of the blade can act like a wheel and push the saw backwards slightly. Hope that helps! 👍

The main purpose of this accessory is to reduce the risk of kickback when plunging. The stop function is just an add-on.
Pity you didn't mention this. But all in all a good tip 👍
With respect, it really isn’t. It may be *your* main reason for using it, but as I’ve said elsewhere, I’ve had kickback maybe once - maybe twice - in 20 years of tracksaw use so for me it’s a stop. 👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop From my side, too, with all due respect: you are free to do as you please and experience from experts like you is not unimportant. We're talking past each other a bit. I just meant that this is the purpose of the part as intended by Festool and it is therefore designed accordingly. From my point of view, this should be taken into account, especially since you are focussing on the costs here.

I got my stop “free” with my tracksaw. I use it from time to time.
Being a Bosch track user can’t necessarily make all of these but the series has inspired me to make a scribe for a very specific job where proprietary ones are not working 👍🏻
Without being your internet Mum be careful using a pencil as a push stick on the table saw. If you get kick back they are very stabby. Don’t ask me how I know….
Thanks. As for ‘the pencil as a push stick point to the palm problem’ a/ I’ll take that over the alternative any day, and b/ if you ever get kickback cutting 6mm ply then you *really* need to change that blade! 😂👍

Love your channel. One note, at 1 minute and 11 seconds where you are using a pencil to hold the off cut, if there were to be a kick back that pencil tip would jab your hand pretty good.
Out of interest when have you ever experienced kickback when cutting a piece of 6mm plywood? I know I never have. But if it were to happen then I’d take the pencil point to the palm over the alternative, any day of the week. 👍

Do you think it’s possible to make the same kind of thing for a Bosch or Mafell track?
Much harder to do because there’s no upward-facing t-slot, and nothing for the stop to grip on the left side of the rail. 🤷♂️👍
Pencil as a push stick ? I've still got the scar from making that mistake. My only visit to A&E from DIY.

How are finding that multi slot worktop (don't know the proprer name)? I know you said you didn't really feel the benefit from it over an MFT. I just noticed in this video it doesn't seem to have lasted very well compared to your usual MFT.
Not a fan of the microjig slots, and while Fibracolour worked flawlessly as a standard MFT top it’s too soft in my experience, for these kind of grooves. Ext top will be plywood with regular t-slots. 👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop yeah it seems like a lot of material taken away from a fibre board. I think I would be forever fishing out off cuts and nuts, bolts and screws from the slots.
Starts with "going to use 1 camera" - 1.5 minutes in and I count at least 3, or one being moved a lot, or something in between. On with the video :-D
There was another just after 1.5. How many total and how much did you move the second one if only 2? :-D the effort you put into the sequence of shots is substantial. Reminds me when I filmed myself walking into a room a turning on the light, then arriviat X tool and picking it up, then leaving again, then putting everything down somewhere else. I felt like a liar and fraud and fool all at the same time, ha ha.
One camera, many moves. An occasional shot lifted from the previous video and repurposed. 👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop Damn, that's painful just to think about. I can guess which ones were lifted, which reduces the count a bit, but many were definitely unique to this - you're dedicated to the art of filming at least as much as the art of MDF, if not more! :-D Good vid
Hi Peter, I hope you’re well. A while ago I asked about would it be possible to make the loose tenon jig be able to make MFT dog holes? You rightly pointed out that it was complicated and not viable for numerous reasons. However you mentioned that something might be coming on the channel that would enable or show viewers how to make an MFT dog holes without the need of either a UKJ Parf guide which is great but expensive or a CNC machined template, which can be bulky and not cost effective to send in the post, especially for someone like me who is currently living in Sweden! Is this something that you are still looking to do on the channel?

Hi Mark and thank you! I do have a CNC jig coming out - I previewed it in the recent ‘3 easy fixes’ video about the Wolfcraft bench. But it is a decent sized jig, with all the shipping headaches involved with that. 🤷♂️👍

Mafell went their own way on the guiderails, not much you can do about that other than to buy a Festool or Makita rail for when you need something like this. 🤷♂️👍
