FLAIR how about putting some LED stripe lights spaced out running down the inside the boat. Help you see if you’re out past dark or when you get to the dock before sunlight?!? Just a thought!!
Blake autwell yeah but you still need to keep them alive and what is he going to do bucket the water in and out. Not those will not work well as a live well.
It's a real nice boat. It needs 2 pedestal seats(bike seats), if you troll alot- a 24 volt trolling motor is a must, Boat cover, livewell, dual pro battery charger, rod straps for front/back deck, boat cleats, good padded seats for traveling with big motor. Have Fun.
not a hater, but did my 13'8" much much differently. nose has 4.5 foot forward casting deck with socket for a throne (about 5" below gunwales, foot control bow mount trolling motor. the deck's rear vertical wall has hatches left right, down the center is a 4 foot long 12" wide bench (riding passenger is like being in a BIG jet ski), the top lifts up, there's you're livewell too, weight centered. about 18" of just floor space, then the rear is also all casting deck with a throne socket, two large hatches, fuel tank left, anchor and more on the right. it's a really comfortable arrangement! used a 1/2" conduit bender to make the two hoops, dollar store light blue nylon cloth shower curtain for the shade canopy over the middle (yes sewing required!), which does just fine at 25-30 mph too. hoops lay flat on rear edge of forward casting deck, cloth rolls up around the hoops and the 4 small guy ropes lash the cloth to the hoops, very tidy, easy set up take down. it's a fiberglass hull, used to be a little 2+2 runabout for up to 35hp, now it's 20hp tiller, a 4 stroke Nissan. needed stringers replaced, transom replaced, gave it a nice thick wood perimeter railing too, stained deep red/brown, it also got new white gel coat. hope you can picture these "1,000+ words" , its a really excellent layout. flip a switch a small 12v pump fills the 11 gallon livewell in about 3 minutes, pop the overflow tube, gravity drain. it has a 2 D cell battery air pump for an air stone, so you flip the livewell pump on 4-5 minutes once an hour if full of fish. get them home alive too no problem. it also has 600 gph sump pump just in case. engine konks out wont start? sit on the down the center bench seat with a pair of 7ft oars after popping in the oar locks, you're at the right height+position, if you're forced to row it. nothing too special, but flip another switch 3 LED's down that center bench each side, lites up the floor (and more), plus 4 more to each casting deck, you wont miss your footing for darkness at least! 12v USB Mp3 module, little 12v PAM8610 amp board, couple small speakers.. oh heck yeah, bulkhead at rear of forward casting deck is a short wall looking right at ya, cheap as hell, sounds good, when it dies it didn't cost 10 bucks total anyway, and comes with a remote? oh hey now! simple cheap RC battery strap velcro loops to hang fishing poles down the sides out of the way... no real plan at all, just "it needs this, I want that" as I went about re-making it. fire extinguisher mounted on that short front wall too. spaces not used for storage are stuffed with capped 2 liter bottles (freeze them first cap them tight they're pressurized) for floatation. can't be having it ever fully sinking!
Doesn't look like your rear hatch doors have latches. Hinged the way they are if they aren't latched and they bounce up while in tow they'll rip right off. Just a thought from a guy that has done a jon boat conversion. I'll second that Tiny Boat Nation is a cool community and Michael is a good dude for sure! He did a video on my build. Tight lines, Casey
Looks great. Very nice work. Think about steel flex or wetlander coat on the bottom for protection and so it'll slide off stumps. Agree with paint job or wrap. Consider line-x or rhino line the trailer. Powerful LED lights for night fishing. You'll have lots of fun with that boat.
Dude, I work at a Toyota production plant... I have obviously fucked up in life. I'm building them for work, but you're getting them free for work. I need to create a channel, put together a good proposal, and get some free wheels! Seriously jealous!
Way more cup holders , easy fix. Rod holders above board maybe a removable 5 rod holder across back to accommodate if you wanted to bottom fish or trolling easy to install and remove if wanted. So maybe a live tank maybe you could use the plastic tubs already installed big battery and charging for all types of electronics.
Sick boat, I have the same one. Yours turned out very nice. I would add a ladder for safety, specifically one you can flip down from outside cus STUFF happens. Navigation lights are a must also and storage lights are nice for those early or late fishing days.
I'm relatively new to fishing and prefer yak fishing, but your videos are one of my faves, along with Jon B, Lake Fork Guy and MDLR for salt water. And I live in Austin, so love the vids shot on LadyBird and other Central Tx locations. 2 questions about your jonboat hotrod....what boat did you start with, and would center console steering be possible. Keep up with the great work!
Maybe I missed a part by watching the video but where are you going to sit? and since this boat is got so many compartments why not make a compartment for a live well because once this boat hits the water I doubt you going to turn around and come right back to shore
Try installing a bilg pump in the bottom of your boat and in one of the containers as well as an aerator so you have a live well. The pump in the bottom of your boat is so you can pump out water just in case your boat starts to flood.
Go pro mounting plate. Use a pile that you can mount the go pro to and then hardwire to a battery. Gives a cool higher perspective. Awesome video and a sick boat!
Repower it with a four stroke Yamaha tiller that has a alternator to charge your stuff, add a jack plate, underwater lights, courtesy lights, and 1 or 2 micro power poles.
If it was me, I would put a steering wheel column in and steering wheel for the motor. Idk but I know I wouldn’t want to manually steer the motor with my hands in the back like that. Just a thought. Maybe later down the road but the boat is amazing looking. Great transformation.
Doing something similar with a 16 footer. But mine is a console type. Im adding a live well and built in cooler too. It's turning out to be just as fishable as a fiberglass bass boat. Just runs a little slower.
If u bring a bucket on the boat to fill up a compartment with water and bring a bubbler you can pick one of those up from academy or somewhere and zip tie the bubbler down and use that as a live well add fresh water ever hour and a half or so
These conversion boats aren't terribly stable are they? I've a 14 foot aluminum, stock, which isn't overly stable. Raising the center of gravity that much just be killer? I live on the St Lawrence River, and it always seems to be rough and windy ☹️
I'm curious what's gonna happen to the storage boxes when it rains. Doesn't seem like there is any type of track or system to drain rainwater away from compartments. Other than that, sweet rig.
Charlie Blanchard since he can't film in the rain I didn't get to crazy on water proofing the boxes. Wouldn't be hard to put in some drain plugs if it becomes an issue
Love the vid, but why are the hinges for the storage compartments on the deck side. I’d hate to be barefoot on this boot, or it could lead to someone tripping. Just an observation
I would say it just needs an upgraded mercury 4 stroke engine. Add a live well and give it a nice paint job. And I would say put new tires and rims on the boat trailer.👍
Dude you’re an inspiration 🙌🏻🤘🏻 I’m a young angler as well. When I start my vlogs I will be sure to give you shoutouts because most of your tips and opinions has made become a better angler! Appreciate it dude!
You should put a live well in the compartment closest to the center of the boat. If you put it in the rear of the boat there will be too much weight on the back.
Mongo Fishing honestly it's really light for what I did to it. The farm pond we fish doesn't have a boat ramp so we have to push it off the trailer by hand and winch it on to get it out. I easily did both by myself. I took the seats out then framed in. There's 150 feet of 1 inch by 1/8 inch aluminum and about 1 and 1/2 sheets of 1/2 plywood. That's the only thing in the boat that really has weight. The rest is foam sheeting, like 3, 1x2x8' and 4 plastic totes. That's it
fishingthe402 Thank you. I have a bass boat buy my older brother and his son are building one like this. I wanted to pass this on to him. Again, thank you.
Needs hidden piano hinges instead of those surface mounted hinges......looks cheap and won’t feel nice stepping on with bare feet, they get super hot! I would have put locking hatches on it instead of the pull style, just for some added security.
Dirty Outdoorsman I tried piano hinges, the screws pulled out on the end grain of the plywood. I could find the piano hinges that have an L style to screw into the under face of the hatch or else I would have used them on every hatch. I'll keep an eye out for them if we decide to change them. Thanks
Dirty Outdoorsman also the boat is garaged when it's not being used so no need really for security latches. If cost wasn't an issue I'd prefer to use them bc I think they look and work better but the extra time and money didn't really fit the needs
fishingthe402 I was thinking if you can’t find the L style, you could always use a short piece of aluminum angle and attach one side to the hinge and the other underneath the hatch.
Put a 20 horse 4 stroke Yamaha tiller, add a livewell in thr back compartment, repaint the boat and put your logo on the side, add some seats and you have a bass caching machine!
All good till the wind shits the water up and its too rough for you to stand up and fish and run trolling motor at same time. Because that little narrow boat is rocking too much. Needs a seat and you wasted a ton of money on those lid struts. Totally unececarry for compartments that size
Fast talker... how much are your boat mods worth in the sale market? And, that's an old style row boat not anything like a Jonboat. It's a rocky old rowboat and dangerous to stand up on so.... What's it worth?

FLAIR when are you coming to Missouri again?
FLAIR hola mi amigo (hi my friend)
FLAIR what's up
FLAIR how about putting some LED stripe lights spaced out running down the inside the boat. Help you see if you’re out past dark or when you get to the dock before sunlight?!? Just a thought!!
Flair you need a new motor
You need to put a live well in the back instead of the bucket
i was about to say "what about a live well"
Me as well...
You could use the bucket as your live well
Blake autwell yeah but you still need to keep them alive and what is he going to do bucket the water in and out. Not those will not work well as a live well.
tim wegman I caught a nice trout. Left it in the bucket for 1 hour. Jumped out of my hands as I took it to clean it. Buckets work just fine.
You should add a live well where you currently have the back storage container.
Put a livewell in the back storage compartment
BassinMonroe that’s what I said
Was thinking the same
Was thinking the same
That's a lot easier said than done. :)
He is going to need one
not gonna lie...this turned out sweet AF
"we used legitimate things" uses plastic totes from the dollar store lol
Nice he threw in the cup holder for your Smirnoff Ice
Milliken Fishing it's actually for his cucumber infused, vodka waters
Lmao
My dad went to school with u miliken
Better yet a Budweiser
MMMMMMFFFFFFF'ER!
Have Fun.
Congrats Flair on the deal with Toyota you deserve it and I believe it is the first of many sponsors to come...
not a hater, but did my 13'8" much much differently. nose has 4.5 foot forward casting deck with socket for a throne (about 5" below gunwales, foot control bow mount trolling motor. the deck's rear vertical wall has hatches left right, down the center is a 4 foot long 12" wide bench (riding passenger is like being in a BIG jet ski), the top lifts up, there's you're livewell too, weight centered. about 18" of just floor space, then the rear is also all casting deck with a throne socket, two large hatches, fuel tank left, anchor and more on the right. it's a really comfortable arrangement!

Things it still needs:
1) Kegerator
2) Vulcan M134 Minigun
3) Hot tub
4) Blanket fort
5) Turkey Fryer
I was wondering did the boat did well overtime ?
10 minutes of talking, and one minute of boat. Gotta love this UA-cam bs.
Lol. Looks like after watch this video you gonna kick some one on the face. Lol
I set up the playback speed at 1.75 or 2.0
But he told me 100 times how to buy his crap!
Tight lines, Casey
hardwoodcd with the gas struts and the friction fit, it should be fine. Unless he drives through a hurricane while competing in a monster truck rally
Obviously it needs a hello kitty wrap
Beastydh S. That’s what I was thinking
A live well and standard electronics in that boat would top it off. Wouldn't need anything else! Congrats on the boat.
Add some seats and it will be awesome
Cranking 101 its a tiny boat and its gonna take too much space.
It aint to small to put in one or two seats.
Boats looking good man. Thats all you need out here in NE. Ive always been stuck on the bank. Youll have a lot of fun on the water for sure.
Jesus his intro was enthusiastic lmaoo 😂
Recess the trolling motor pedal. Makes a HUGE difference.
when toyota loans you a brand new Truck for free.. you best accept!!!
When Flair has no beard: 😞
Dude, I work at a Toyota production plant... I have obviously fucked up in life. I'm building them for work, but you're getting them free for work. I need to create a channel, put together a good proposal, and get some free wheels! Seriously jealous!
Need a touch up on trailer and new tires and new paint job
Way more cup holders , easy fix. Rod holders above board maybe a removable 5 rod holder across back to accommodate if you wanted to bottom fish or trolling easy to install and remove if wanted. So maybe a live tank maybe you could use the plastic tubs already installed big battery and charging for all types of electronics.
flair try to get your rods in bass pro shops
Are they in cabelas?
Sick boat, I have the same one. Yours turned out very nice. I would add a ladder for safety, specifically one you can flip down from outside cus STUFF happens. Navigation lights are a must also and storage lights are nice for those early or late fishing days.
Put a live well in it
Fish basket I’ll be fine
Skip to 8:51 for the boat. The rest is sales pitches.
How is it a "Do It Yourself" boat when you had someone else do it for you?
I'm relatively new to fishing and prefer yak fishing, but your videos are one of my faves, along with Jon B, Lake Fork Guy and MDLR for salt water. And I live in Austin, so love the vids shot on LadyBird and other Central Tx locations. 2 questions about your jonboat hotrod....what boat did you start with, and would center console steering be possible. Keep up with the great work!
Needs a new motor
Was thinking same
Wyatt Shellenberger I have a 16 foot Gregor and I put a Honda 15 on there and it real nice
300 hp mercury pro
Ryan Solveson I wish lmao
400hp Yamaha
Maybe I missed a part by watching the video but where are you going to sit? and since this boat is got so many compartments why not make a compartment for a live well because once this boat hits the water I doubt you going to turn around and come right back to shore
The whole thing seemed like just an advertisement. Annoying.
Try installing a bilg pump in the bottom of your boat and in one of the containers as well as an aerator so you have a live well. The pump in the bottom of your boat is so you can pump out water just in case your boat starts to flood.
New paint job, live well, recessed foot pedal tray
Awesome fabrication skills from that guy.
Jesus Christ... I had to hit the mute button because you talk so much.. Dude, Back off the Mountain Dew !!
Love the boat. I have a 14ft VHULL myself. How did you get the aluminum substructure to stay in place? Did you rivet it? Or mount it?
Some of the best merch I’ve seen my dude 🤙🏼
Crazy how you have 2 beautiful trucks and nice boats
I think every boat needs a Live well
Go pro mounting plate. Use a pile that you can mount the go pro to and then hardwire to a battery. Gives a cool higher perspective. Awesome video and a sick boat!
"Ive wanted to do this for so long" Didn't actually do anything
...he had his boat redone. Just because he paid someone to do it doesn't mean he didnt have it done...Nice try troll
Repower it with a four stroke Yamaha tiller that has a alternator to charge your stuff, add a jack plate, underwater lights, courtesy lights, and 1 or 2 micro power poles.
Paint it or wrap it whatever you can do to aluminum
Drake Summers ik you can't paint it. Idk about a wrap
i painted my aluminum boat
If it was me, I would put a steering wheel column in and steering wheel for the motor. Idk but I know I wouldn’t want to manually steer the motor with my hands in the back like that. Just a thought. Maybe later down the road but the boat is amazing looking. Great transformation.
It needs an inner tube for peric to ride in
Doing something similar with a 16 footer. But mine is a console type. Im adding a live well and built in cooler too. It's turning out to be just as fishable as a fiberglass bass boat. Just runs a little slower.
Missing the livewell
I freaking love jon boat conversions I've definitely seen their channel before. So much more efficient fuel and money wise.
Needs a livewell
Bilge pump, needs to dbe installed. Balance load, battery to the rear if fishing on front deck. Instal running lights and work lights while doing so.
"we used legitimate things"
while the camera is focused on plastic totes
Where do the seats go? Is it going to have a steering console installed?would be better with a 20 or 25 HP.
If u bring a bucket on the boat to fill up a compartment with water and bring a bubbler you can pick one of those up from academy or somewhere and zip tie the bubbler down and use that as a live well add fresh water ever hour and a half or so
Congrats on the partnership with Toyota!
Your videos are becoming my favorites too watch. Subscribed to all of you guys but usually watch yours first. Keep it up. Great boat.
Doing big thing flair sick truck and badass boat I am planning on doing the same to my jon boat when I get home
These conversion boats aren't terribly stable are they? I've a 14 foot aluminum, stock, which isn't overly stable. Raising the center of gravity that much just be killer? I live on the St Lawrence River, and it always seems to be rough and windy ☹️
Adrian Parker as long as you have the right sized boat and keep it light it's good.
Does it have a bilge pump? And those storage compartments don't look water resistant. What happens if it rains?
I'm curious what's gonna happen to the storage boxes when it rains. Doesn't seem like there is any type of track or system to drain rainwater away from compartments. Other than that, sweet rig.
Charlie Blanchard since he can't film in the rain I didn't get to crazy on water proofing the boxes. Wouldn't be hard to put in some drain plugs if it becomes an issue
flair im one of your biggest fans next time you come to florida you should have a meet up in jacksonville fl
Dude did a kick ass job on the boat.
Amazing work. Looks nice. Needs a sweet Flair wrap and that’s it. Good Job!!
Interior lights!!! Sick build.
2018: partners with Toyota
2019: buys a ford
No shit. Thinking the same thing
I know the locking latches are expensive but for me they seem like a must to keep your stuff safe.
The boat is cool as hell. I'm surprised you don't have a live well, though, if you just catch-and-release, it's not a big deal.
This is awesome FLAIR you inspired me I’m definitely gonna upgrade my good ole 14” aluminum
Dude you’re an inspiration 🙌🏻🤘🏻 I’m a young angler as well. When I start my vlogs I will be sure to give you shoutouts because most of your tips and opinions has made become a better angler! Appreciate it dude!
Wait, WHAT? My last video about the perfect bait...I was raving about how much I l
ove my Toyota. They should be sponsoring me!
buy a 15 hp or 20 hp outboard for it depending on the hp rating on the boat itself. you can find used ones to buy pretty cheap
How're you going to keep water from leaking into your plastic compartments, and How are you going to drain them when it does?
You should have a little compartment for like garlic other attractants and other things you put on lures for increased effectiveness
1.) seat when you drive
2.) red/green lights
3.) main white light
4.) flair/favorite boat decals
You should put a live well in the compartment closest to the center of the boat. If you put it in the rear of the boat there will be too much weight on the back.
What is the new weight? That much new stuff has to subtract from the coast guard sticker? How much did it change?
Does the amount of money include shipping? So if I get something that’s $20 plus $5 shipping does that count?
no does not include shipping
Looks nice, but I can't believe that is is very stable standing so high above the water level on such a narrow boat.
Definitely a badass transformation. Makes me want to add some more deck space to my 16 foot 85hp .
It amazes me how people who suck at fishing like Flair have as many subs as they do
😲 Wow. I remember when you dropped it off. That came out so sick! Great Job.
Been waiting on this since the day you left it with him! It looks great. You have awesome taste in trucks.
I'll keep an eye out for them if we decide to change them. fishingthe402 INice work otherwise!
fishingthe402 I was thinking if you can’t find the L style, you could always use a short piece of aluminum angle and attach one side to the hinge and the other underneath the hatch.
I was just messing with some angle and a piano hinge trying just that for future reference lol
Looks good Flair. Excited to see more videos with the boat
Wheres the live well? U know, to keep your fish or to keep live bait in?
Put a 20 horse 4 stroke Yamaha tiller, add a livewell in thr back compartment, repaint the boat and put your logo on the side, add some seats and you have a bass caching machine!
All good till the wind shits the water up and its too rough for you to stand up and fish and run trolling motor at same time. Because that little narrow boat is rocking too much. Needs a seat and you wasted a ton of money on those lid struts. Totally unececarry for compartments that size
@FLAIR I was fishing in that rain and sleet. I caught my new PB 4.13 lb on a black and blue chatter bait
This boat is sick! Great job
Best DIY bass boat design I can find
Two months to finish and 80-90 hours of work? That math doesn't add up. Nice rig.
Randy Nunez I have a full time job and a part time job so only had a few nights and weekends to do it. Thanks tho
Good stuff man, great work.
Awesome boat. Wondering what kinda boat it is and how long thanks
I’ve been waiting for this Love the transformation!
Put an Elco Electric Outboard on it, also a wrap with your logo and other companies you’d like to represent
Fast talker... how much are your boat mods worth in the sale market? And, that's an old style row boat not anything like a Jonboat. It's a rocky old rowboat and dangerous to stand up on so.... What's it worth?
Probably a couple thousand
