I’m 64 years old and even though I know how to rig plastic baits I recommend your video to beginners. Great job!
Thanks for watching Steve!
I'm 56 years old and just beginning my fishing adventure in St Louis. Thank you for the great info! I feel like much less of an idiot about fishing now! I've never fished before and I'm really excited about getting started. There's a TON of bass and catfish out here and I want to start taking some home. Thanks again!
So glad you found the channel! I think I will have plenty of videos from the past few years, and coming out now, that will help you learn and grow as an angler!
Curtis, I hope that you're going to be a really bad fisherman..... so we have less competition! LOL
Seriously, welcome to the fisherman's club! :D
Catch anything yet? 😁

You’ve been missing out sir. Been doing since 10 years old.
Dude, yes! Thank you for not making us endure 10 minutes of self-talk and meandering. If only every UA-camr would follow your lead and get to the dang point, we would all catch more fish. Keep it coming!
That’s the plan around here man! Give y’all the content as fast as I can
Yes!! Covered a lot of material effectively and efficiently!!
I’m 70 years old...haven’t fished in 20 years, but just bought a kayak to rig up for fishing, now relearning how....you DEFINITELY helped me! Thanks!
Heck yeah!! So glad to have you around the channel Learning along with the rest of us!
Can you talk about the best times to throw certain plastics, weather that’s time of day or time of year.
For sure!
Do you use a weight while fishing a senko?
Hunter Adams i like to use a bullet weight when I texas rig and weightless when wacky rigging, im not Tyler but I hope I helped.
Hey bud! This is awesome, thank you!!
the main thing I do is try to figure out the color of the water it's self on a warm day I'll start out by fishing the clearest water I can find but on a cold day sutch as a cold front I fish muddy water
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
Been fishing since I was 5. I’m 40 now and have always left a little bit of the eye of the hook exposed on my texas rigs. Nice tip will definitely make that adjustment.
This is a young man who’s clearly making people proud of him 👏
Thanks Joey!
Okay the transition with the plastics falling through the intro was the smoothest thing I've ever seen...
😤🙌🏼
Yep. As someone who edits an occasional video, I can appreciate the time it took to create that less-than-a-second effect.
I'm still grateful for you telling me to run the weightless fluke style bait texas rigged last summer. I caught fish when others around me were struggling. This is awesome! Thanks!
🙌🏼
This video is still going strong after a year. Your videos are so awesome in their instruction and video quality. Thanks so much for working so hard to teach us!
Tyler does a fantastic and very thorough job of instruction!! I have been an avid fisherman for many years and learned a lot from his video presentation. His presentation, style and personality make for a great and most informative learning experience. Keep up the fantastic job you are doing. From a 63 year old dude.
Thank you so much Jim!
Well done Bro!!! Greetings from Panamá l like so much tour video Bro realy interesting to rig soft bait 👏!!!!
with this depth and thoroughness, you're filling a void that cannot be found in one video like you are doing here and in your other videos. thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Can’t thank you enough. I literally got my first bass combo yesterday and can’t wait to start throwing some soft plastics and catching some fish. I’ll no doubt be spending many hours working through your videos.
Heck yeah!! I’ve got tons of content to help you out, so I’m glad to have you around!
Tyler I came here with 0, absolutely zero, experience with bass fishing. After stumbling across some of your other videos, where you catch fish, it looked like an awesome time. I've watched this video, your beginner set up video, and the one you made after this on how to fish each lure at least a half dozen times, each. And the depth you go to in your attempt to teach the skills of your trade are truly selfless and above and beyond anyone else's I have seen. They have given me a ton of confidence to try out a new skill. Thank you, and God bless.
Thanks Tyler! Newer to bass fishing and haven’t ever (in at least a couple years) seen a better, more comprehensive video covering rigging on all the basic soft plastics. Very helpful, and to the point. Keep em coming!! 👍
Great! Glad to have ya around
Love this Tyler my soft baits always seemed to "scrunched" up and don't look natural, appreciate this post.
Thanks for great information. You put a lot of time, work, and patience into this.
I've been fishing for over 40 years. I have always shyed away from plastics, other than the small jig-style. This video has given me the confidence to dive into this style more and more. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
i've come back to this video at least a half dozen times, and i can finally say i have my texas rig right! i'm using something called a 4/0 "superlock" for my 4" caffeine shad and it looks pretty dang good, they were out of regular old 3/0 wide gap. also messed up on my first try on a weedless ned rig jig head, but got it dang near perfect on the second try. I've learned so much from this channel over the past few weeks that today my dad actually said "maybe it'll be your turn to guide me this weekend." I'm so glad i found TRF!!
Thank you for this video! This is such an underrated aspect of fishing in general, knowing how to rig your lures!
Of course! I think you’ll enjoy the rest of my channel too👍🏼
Only bass will dislike this video.
ok 15 bass have watched this video so better watch out
Haha
Dang. 33 bass have watched this
I guess they have spread the words in the bass group. 37 watched.
funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny
Thank you so much. As a new guy to the fishing world, this was always something I had a really hard time understanding and I don't have anyone to teach me. I am so happy to have found your videos. Keep them up!
Heck yeah! Glad to have you around the channel
This is super helpful as exactly how
to get the hook in a Texas rig so the bait lies flat is something I struggled with till seeing this. Thanks Tyler, super helpful!
Thank you so much for all the great info. I am just getting into using soft plastics instead of live bait. I have been trying to figure out the best rig styles for each plastics. I have felt kind of stumped with different baits due to shape size etc. This is exactly what I needed! I will be trying these out🤗
Awesome! That’s amazing
@@TylersReelFishing been trying them out since I last commented and I have been having success! Again thanks for the great info
Omg!!! (Not in a stupid way) Thank you Tyler!!!! A few rigs I set up correctly. Yet you cleared up at least 3 set ups to help me out. Thanks again!!!! Instant subscribe!!!
Thanks so much Andrew! Exited to have you around the channel 👍🏼
Thank you young man. I'm just starting out to use plastics the right way. I was only taught one way how to hook plastics. After watching your video, I realized that the way I was taught was the ned rig. However, I was taught on a Texas rig hook. Very helpful video.
This was an excellent and highly informative video explaining how to rig baits. Sounds basic but for those of us new to bass AND ultralight fishing, as you said someone has to teach me. Someone taught everyone. So, many, many thanks and please do more shows like this. Nothing is too fundamental when learning to fish.
Bro, I just started fishing. This helps a lot thanks man.
Awesome! Hope to keep ya around
Hey Tylersreelfishing you are the best UA-camr and your vidoes are on 🔥and keep up the good work
Thanks for always tuning in Elijah!
great fast to point I have putting them on wrong for years
Thanks Tyler I’m getting back into fishing at 58 years old in SoCal. Your videos have been valuable and entertaining. Thank you for all your time effort it does not go unnoticed.
Glad to hear it!
great videos on your channel. Great teaching. On a separate note, you are the first person I have watched who speaks in 1.5 speed and I appreciate that. I usually speed up the play back but not necessary with you
You will never realize how rare your viewpoint is 😂 most people hate how fast I talk, so you’re my new best friend!
Have been loving all the tip videos, without being able to fish right now these tips are great!
Hopefully once you can get back on the water, you can put them into action👍🏼
Finally a UA-cam fisherman that doesn't act like a spastic Billy Mays making exaggerated hand gestures with every word and thanks for not opening with "Whats up UA-cam" I am only 5 seconds in and you earned a sub. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I hope to continue earning your respect and your views 👍🏼 We are all about learning here on this channel
Agreed
Great video, i'm in the UK but still use a lot of the soft plastics that you have shown, every day's a school day, i'm 59 fishing since i was 7 and learnt a lot from your tutorial, great job
Recently retired from the Military and fished King Salmon in Alaska as a kid; but good lord after a week of videos on YT, I FINALLY find a thoroughly explanatory video that moves from one point to the next and gives all the answers I’ve been looking for… Damn great job my man!!
Love to hear that!
I already know how to do all of these but I just got bored thx for helping all of the beginner anglers ✌️
Of course!
Not sure if someone mentioned it. The word for "slendering" is taper lol. Great video.
I haven't fished since I was a preteen and recently wanted to get back into it again. Your videos, especially this one, has been a great guide to help me in knowing what to do.
Watching you longer videos like this reminds me of watching fishing shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings when I was younger. Your probably one of the best fishing content creators on UA-cam.
I really appreciate that! I put a ton of planning and effort into these videos, so I am glad that you enjoy them and they are helpful to you
Thank you, I learned more, than I thought I would.......
That’s always the goal!

Live bait: are you challenging me?!
am i a joke to you
Great video. I now know how to rig all of the plastics i have in my gear. Very informational. Thank you so much.
Wow man I love this video, I knew most of these rigs but you had some tips and pointers that really help man. Thanks! Subscribed!
Heck yeah! Welcome to the team!!
What I wouldn't give to spend a couple hours on the boat with him just to stargaze at his intelligence and learn more on this hobby I love. Awesome video thank you for the advice and tutorial!
Thanks for watching lee!
What boat do you have
This is excellent. Great presentation style, clear camera work, and no-nonsense information without a lot of hype and self-promotion. Liked and subscribed.
Let’s go! Welcome to the team! Glad to have you on board
As I am fairly new to bass fishing... I needed this. Thank you!
We made it through 🇺🇸
I'm the one who asked that on Q&A :D
I really appreciate your instructional videos. I learn a ton from you. As a highschool science teacher, myself, you've have good teaching skills; very listenable and informative about what not to do and what what's good to do and how to do it. Keep that going; it distinguishes you.
Thank you so much! Definitely going to keep this up
This has got to be one of the best videos I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
Thank you for watching! I think you’ll enjoy all of the videos on my channel if you like this one
Can you show us how to fish each of these lures.
Already did part 2! Linked it as the pinned comment
Now can your do a vid on how to fish these cause I’ve never seen some of theses baits you showed
I’ve been putting em out!
Your fixing to catch alot more fish adding sofr plastics to your arsenal! I fish soft plastics probably 80% of the time
This video was extremely helpful! I've been fishing for years but never learned how to rig for bass. Thankful to have ran across this video thanks man so much!
Awesome rob! So glad you found the channel!
Thanks for getting this new information out to us old-timers. Your videos have been helping me greatly !
I second that
Instructions unclear, became Captain Hook, so Peter Pan here I come!
I’m also tyler, must be the anti Tyler cuz I can’t even get a bite cept from the skitos 🤣
Not about how u rig it about how pateint u are u could wacky worm it u could throw a dam bulet sinker on it rick it texas style if ur not paitent ur not gona catch fish pateince my friend
Honestly exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for all the knowledge, you did Awesome. Not sure how you could of got us all the great info in shorter time. I was that new guy looking for all the fundamentals, so thanks.
Awesome Monte! Glad to have ya around the channel
Thanks for being so detailed and putting effort into showing how to hook these baits. I am just now getting into fishing because my 4-year-old son enjoyed watching someone fish so much that I decided to get into it for him.
So glad to have yall around the channel!
"You dont need a giant circle hook"
*laughs in channel catfish.
I know you're talking bass fishing but when you said use a circle hook for whacky rigs the half dozen giant circle hooks I keep for catfishing in my bag popped into my head for some reason.
Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior God bless all ✝️🙏❤️
Amen to that!
I look to my own house of worship 🕍 ✡️ for spiritual discussions, not 🚫 in the comments sections of fishing UA-cam videos🙄. ☮️.
@@pamelaklemp5615I feel the same way🙄
Just started Bass fishing and coming from Montana where all I did was fly fish, your videos have been extremely helpful!
Thanks for the video! I just started bass fishing last year and you showed me some of the things I was doing incorrectly. Can't wait for the thaw to try it the right way. Keep the vids coming!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you are learning so much through the channel
I've been fishing my entire life, but your video was very helpful, and now I can impress my dad with my rigging skills lol. You earned your self a sub. Cant wait to watch some more!
Awesome! So glad to have you around the channel. I think you will enjoy the rest of my content, especially what I made over the past year
Another awesome tip video! Thanks for helping our stay home time to be beneficial for our increase in fishing knowledge!
Good video! I learned some little intricacies that many take for granted or do automatically and therefore fail to mention when teaching. Soft plastics were unheard of basically when I left off fishing when I left for college. Now, just getting back into it as I plan to retire, I love fishing soft plastics and you have helped showing little intricacies of technique in rigging them. Thanks!
Heck yeah! Glad to have ya around the channel Thomas
I love reading the comments for this video. I am 57 and starting to get back into fishing. I was never taught much about fishing from my Dad. Maybe he wasn't really a fan. But I tried to get my sons into it because...well, I thought that is what Dads do. LOL!!! My oldest son is now 25 and has a best friend whose Dad took the two of them fishing when they were younger. That Dad showed my son how to fish. So, I am asking my son about how to fish. LOL!!! Thanks for UA-cam and videos like yours. That said, I am still waiting for my first smallmouth bass at the lake where our camp is.
Solid video! Thank you for filming this, it answered some of my questions and opened up some ideas.
I used a swimming shad for the first time this morning and hooked a large mouth on the first cast. There was heavy cover so I went texas rig with my baitcasters. It was so much fun. He was jumping out of the water right before I dragged him though the weeds.
Awesome!
This video was great. Thank you for being super clear and showing all of this. I’m the only one in my family that really likes fishing so this was great at teaching me all of these basics. The review at the end was very helpful too.
You are so welcome! If you liked this video, I really think you will like the last few years of content I have made👍🏼
Tyler, I am 78 years old and have been fishing all my life, yet you have just taught me several things I did not know. Thanks from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Let’s go! Glad you’re still learning at your young age!
Tyler you did an excellent job. A young couple starting to bass fish just ask me this question yesterday... Thank You For Sharing 🍺🎣🍺🎣🍺🎣
Awesome! Glad to have ya around the channel 👍🏼
You have an abundance of Knowledge for a Young Man! This 68 year Old New To Bass Fishing [Fly Fishing mostly] Fisherman has learned a lot today! I Will Subscribe!
Thanks so much! Glad to have ya around 👍🏼
This was fantastic! Growing up all my father and I ever fished was top water, Jitter bugs, hula poppers, that kind of thing. This was very informative after taking a 15 year hiatus from the sport I just picked up a sportsman 120 from Oldtown kayaks. Cannot wait to try some of these techniques!
Awesome! I’m so glad to have ya around the channel 👍🏼
Thank you for providing me the most informative video I've watched in a long time!
Thanks for the lessons, Tyler. I am spending Christmas with my Florida family and I am going to do some fishing. I have never used worms for bass and the Texas rig is foreign to me. Your tutorial is the best I have seen on UA-cam. I will hit the nearest Walmart or Bass Pro Shop to stock up when I get there.
Just started pond fishing here in New Mexico, appreciate your video 😎🎣
So cool!
Awesome content man. It was just what i was looking for.
did not expect this too be that informative great job on the video hopefully it will help me catch a few this weekend
Awesome!
Thank you for all the different rigs for the soft plastic baits and hooks. This was very educational. Well done!
Of course!
This is such an important and good video. You did an AWESOME JOB! Loved it.
Thank you!
All right dude, I really watched your entire video which is something I rarely do :-). Thanks for teaching me a lot.
Awesome! I think you’ll like it around here👍🏼
Thank you!!! When I was young, all we fished with was worms :P
Trying to learn new things isn't easy, videos like this are a big help...
Glad you enjoyed it! My channel is all about instruction so I'm happy to have you around!
This is truly amazing! I’ve just gotten comfortable using a baitcaster after using it for months just catfishing with it. Fishing from the bank I’ve been dreaming a lot recently about punching and flipping baits into thick cover and the juicy stuff but work is out so no kayak purchases soon. Starting college this fall so that’s another thing but I’m going to try and save up.
Thank you for the words of encouragement!!
Of course! Keep goin for it!
God is good!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to do this one. It helps a lot. I have destroyed so may baits trying to get it right.
Glad you liked it mike!
For a beginner in the world of soft plastics your video was just what I needed. You covered a lot of ground so don't worry about talking too much. I might have had to watch 8 other videos to get what you put out there. Thanks so much my friend!
Awesome! So glad you are enjoying the teaching style here on the channel!
After a long hiatus from fishing, I have really enjoyed your lessons on here. Buying a boat soon and fishing north Texas.
excellent video.. i have seen many on this topic and they just focus on one or two.. this covers the vast majority and gives detailed explanations.. thanks very much.
Of course mike! Glad to have ya watching
I have been looking for a great video like this that shows close up how to rig. Thanks man. Great video
Heck yeah! I just made a whole bunch of new beginner videos that I think you will probably like as well. Check them out!
Glad you made a video like this. Even for experienced fisherman need a refresher course.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the walk through, getting it above the eye of the hook really makes it look clean
Hey man, wow this is the absolute perfect video very helpful.Thank you very much for taking the time to do such an in-depth informative video you’re awesome keep it up
Awesome! Glad to have ya around the channel👍🏼
Love your channel... very helpful info for the guys like myself that love to fish but not very experienced... Thanks for the great content Keep up the great work
Appreciate it!
This is exactly what I needed to watch! Thanks for the help!
So glad!!
Really appreciate this video, answered questions I've had for years, thanks man!
Heck yeah, I love to hear that!
Wow first video I watched. Ton of info direct and to the point. Subscribed!
Love it! So happy you found the channel👍🏼
I'd been fishing with my grandpa from the time I was 4 years old, but he only ever taught me to slap a night crawler on a hook (with or without bobber) and roll in fish. He passed a few years ago and I finally decided to get back into fishing and I am SO happy I did (and thankful for the internet!). I inherited his tackle box and finally got around to going through it and sorting it out but my problem is I don't know what half the lures are for or how to use them! This is definitely helpful on the plastics part! Thank you!!! If you have another video on identifying jigs/crankbaits you could point me to, I'd appreciate it :)
Awesome! So glad you have joined the channel🙌🏼 I have videos like this coming out all the time
I know this video is 3yrs old, but for a beginner bass fisher who only ever trout fished this video definitely taught me a lot!! Thank you Tyler
Heck yeah, love to hear that!
Best vidéo I’ve seen on this subject.. great job
Your videos are life saving! My father wasn’t in my life so I’m teaching myself how to fish, so when my own son wants to go fishing, we can go fishing. Thank you
That is awesome! I’m so glad I can help
