Best 10-foot jon boat setup ever!

- Here is my time-tested small jon boat setup for bass fishing. It works great for fishing in creeks, bays, and on small lakes (provided there are no waves). I have been able to catch thousands of fish from it that I would not have been able to catch from the shore.

Awesome! I love little boats. Fishing was never meant to be a competition, much less done in $30,000 boats pulled by a brand new SUV painted the same as the boat and covered in stickers. Customize and maintain your own boat, add a kid now and then and the fishing will be that much better. Fish on!
30,000$! You’re getting a great deal lol, most of the bass boats are closer to 60,000$
The Lowmein try 100k
@@crankinbass5758 a bass boat for $100k the damn thing better have a basement, central heating and air and at least 1 big comfortable bathroom to kick back and read the paper between casts... The law of Diminishing returns on its finest display right there I suppose...i would honestly be embarrassed to bass fish out of a $100k bass boat. If I won something like that I'd sell it and still get a used bass tracker
Lowe1243 minn kota trolling motor. Nephew (15) & I enjoy small lakes, Beshear, Loch Mary, Lake Peewee. Making memories & being in outdoors. It doesnt have to cost a fortune to catch fish. ATB
Exactly!
Cool setup you have there. I admire your ingenuity. I have a 10 foot aluminum boat, watching videos like this inspires me.
Thanks for watching!
It may not be a $20k set up but you did it yourself something to be proud of and it catches the fish. Good work man and sweet powerpole set up. 👍
I love seeing boats like this. It may not be all shiny with new carpet but it gets the job done and you don't have to worry about every little scratch. That power pole setup in too cool!
Swiss army Jon boat
Cuts rose scents lol yeah
I like your efficiency of the space you use in your boat, your anchor pole is ingenius, great idea and design, I also have the same Briggs and Stratton Outboard motor, reliable and efficient little outboard, great job .
Thanks!
That was an awesome power pole setup
Great video , I sold my 2014 Skeeter after a couple of years I just couldn't justify spending that money bought a g3 jon boat couldn't be happier plus I love doing modification to fit my style . You don't have to spend $ 100,000 to fish it's getting crazy Keep a tight line man
Thanks for watching! Eventually I plan on getting a larger aluminum boat, but honestly, I still have not yet fished everything near me that I can get to with my little boat. I am saving up for some electronics to help me more efficiently fish many of the bays, coves, and creek mouths that the little jon boat can handle, but at this point in life I can't afford, nor justify having a monthly boat payment...and i'm still having a ton of fun fishing out of my small boat!
seriously dude you did a good job with it best 10-foot or ever
I’ve had a 1436 alumacraft for about a year now, reinforced transom with some 6061 and a lot of marine 5200 to put a 15 horse on it. Now I’ve gotta borrow some ideas from your video cause that’s a sweet little set up, bet it’s great for setting trotlines
This is actually the coolest little Jon boat ever. I love how DIY it was and how you kept it simple. Just how I like it!
Thanks!
You Sir, I would like for my neighbor!
The way you have engineered the components for your fishing craft has allowed you to get the very most out of your fishing craft, and is admirable.
Carpman
Thanks for the kind comment!
That’s pretty cool, I’ve never considered using foam for the deck support!
Great Job, I'm looking to do a similar Build but with a Fold Down Bimini Top for when you're out in the Sun 😎
does work amazing.... powerful to make wake upstream and downstream... two friends on a 14 Sundolphin Scout Elite canoe. Quick assembly, very solid construction. A great buy.
A great vid; excellent use of space and very creative in your design. I hope you get a chance to compete in a major tournament with those 75-100 thousand dollar boats and you just beat the snot out of them and bring home the gold!
Thanks for watching...I probably don't have any tournaments in my future, lol, but fun on the water....yes.
Nice! Something to get out there on the water is all you need.
I agree.
I love it! Perfect hybrid between kayak and jon boat/microskiff
I just got me a 10' jon boat and trying to fix it up just got a 33lb thrust minkotta can't wait to set it up like yours, work in progress right now, great video
You Sr.got your self a working man boat love congrats and God bless...
Really like the 1 inch foam idea under the platform
Nothing wrong with a custom fishing rig that's tailored made for exactly what YOU need on the waters you fish. Not many people can tout that. Good job man.
Thanks!
Very impressive, I love the layout and organization of everything. And that powerpole is super clever. Also a big fan of the Briggs and Stratton outboard, I had one in the past on my old setup and recently purchased a used one for my current jon boat. Definitely going to play copycat on some of the things you got going on here. Thanks for sharing this.
I love it! I myself live in an urban area in the netherlands, and I find that a small, light, easily movable boat is actually a big plus! I got this 10ft jon boat which can put it on top of my car, and I can gear it up within an hour or so. I really love it.
I use mine on a weekly basis.
This is the epitome of the saying necessity is the mother of all inventions great job brother I love your setup
Thanks!
Great set up. More pride building stuff yourself than just buying for it. Thanks for the ideas.
It is fun! Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for the comment.
Very nice setup congrats great ideas and simple nice! Thanks for posting
Thanks for watching; I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That's everything you need. Like you said, you can get that little boat in some tight places. Good Job!
Thanks for watching!
Well done! Something to be proud of. You can catch the same fish in a 5k boat that you can in a 50k boat. The boat doesn’t catch the fish or make the fisherman. The fisherman makes the boat and uses his skills to take the advantages that certain equipment can give. Also, love the power pole
Thanks for the comment!
Loved my 12 foot jon boat. Caught loads of fish with it.
Small boats can be very useful and fun!
I got to say, this isn't a bass boat, but it's sure is a hella boat, good work with it, it looks nice, and it does the work, it's somthing to be proud of
Thank you!
Thanks!
SWEET DEAL DUDE! I'VE GOT A 12' ALUMINUM JON BOAT, AND, I LOVE IT!
I like the idea of the cooler that doubles as the casting seat. That kill two birds with one stone and I don't have to install a seat now!
Very resourceful and inventive! Awesome little boat! Enjoy your fishing bro!
Thanks for the comment!
Love the DIY power pole!
excellent video bud. I love boats that people mod to LIVE IN, not to sell. Everything YOU want is there. I love it an good for you. Thumbs up all day.
Thanks!
I have a 12 ft jon boat and it looks alot like yours. Except yours has all the extras. You are very talented my friend
I wish mine was like yours. Good luck fishing to you.
Thanks!
I love it! Got a 14' myself that I seem to always be tinkering with getting ready to do some navigation lights on mine!
Nice job on that anchor poll!
Thanks! Small boats are fun to play with.
Great video. Love your frugalness. super setup.
i just found you and i think i found my clone....awesome job man!!!
Thanks!
i have a 10ft jon boat, i put a platform on the front, went out by myself and had a blast.. alot more fun then using my bigger vhull boat and way easier to transport (just thru it in the back of the truck).. nothing fancy but it is forsure my new go to on small waters
Hey, thanks for watching! I hope you catch as many fish from your small-water jon boat as I have from mine...they really are a lot of fun!
Just picked mine up. I love your bow mount setpu and plan to copy it.
Thanks
I love this guys mcguyver fishing boat props props!
Thats a nice set up bro. I tell my friends all the time you dont need to go into debt trying to "keep up with the Jone's"Your'e in the right area to catch a lot of fish too. I come up that way to fish Kentucky and Reellfoot lakes every fall. I use an older gentleman guide out of Hopkinsville and he really knows them both.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing the boat mods with us! I have the same boat, you've given me some great ideas. Thanks again.
You're welcome!
I'm impressed with the power pole. That's brilliant
Thanks...It has worked great for my small boat for several years now.
Very cool add-ons and conversions. The anti drift system, however very neat, can't be called a "Power Pole" because it's not powered, it's all manual.
Great job. Love the live-well mods.!! I may try the same on mine for a second live-well.
go go gadget boat! I love the power pole.
Thanks! It really does come in handy.
Sweet setup ... I have a 12 foot Jon. Now you got me thinkin . Thank for the video.
Those power poles are awesome! I have to copy you with my 16 ft boat!!!! Great video for an amazing fishing boat for anybody!
Thanks for watching!
I have a 10' Jon and a 15' Jon. I live in Middle TN also. Thanks for the great ideas!! Subscribed.
Thanks! I went 2 miles up a creek today and caught a bunch of bass...this small jon boat setup is really perfect for that.
Goes to show you dont need all the fancy bells and whistles to enjoy fishing. I have a simple 16 foot aluminum boat myself. Fishing was meant to be kept simple. Good job man, you deserve a sub.
Thank you for watching and the sub!
The frugal fisherman. Job well done.
I must applaud you on your set-up, that one tricked out jon boat awesome job , fish on!
Thank you. It does what I need it too.
that is great set up thanks GOD BLESS YOU
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Nice rig I have several small boats they get it done yours is reasonably fast and cheap on fuel, efficient ...
Real nice boat for a real wise fisherman
Thank you!
Well done. I like what you've done here 👍👍
Thank you!
Great advice! Awesome set up! Garage sales and thrift stores are also places I get my gear from
Thanks for watching, and yes, garage sales can indeed be a great place to look for gear!
I have that Chartruse deep diving crank bait and I slay fish with it $1.97 at Bass pro shops!! Great vid!
Thanks.
Thanks, I really like the foam isolation idea, pretty durable and it also floats!
Got a 15 ft jon boat at a farm auction(missouri) for 50 bucks and it has no leaks the thing rocks!
GREAT VIDEO YOUNG MAN. LUV YA POWER POLE
Thats a sick boat bud, good job!!
Thanks!
Great job on everything you did to the boat.
Great video. You took what you had & made all kinds of mods to fit your needs. I fish (rarely) but you are a fisherman, and the tools you have added to your little boat show that "function over form" is your style. Best to you.
Thanks!
I love little 10 ft and 12 ft jon boats there's so much fun and so easy. After you're done fishing no muss no fuss and easy cleanup that's what it's all about having fun and not having to work so hard at fishing. Great video great job bro
Love the power pole! Very cool
Brilliant idea on the foam board deck support! Love seeing ingenuity and tinkering to get these rigs afloat!
Dude. Your power pole is SICK! Love the engineering you've done!
Thanks!
The only thing missing on that boat are kitchen and bathroom lol ... J/k buddy, you've done a terrific job there brother ... Bravo!
Thanks!
Fishing256 will u sub to my channel
love the power pole . good set up.
Thanks!
Your boat is great nice setup
Thanks!
Dude... I love it! Especially the power pole. BIG props on that!
Thanks! It gets me on the water...at least some of it. Lol
EXCELLENT! You've smartly combined many features, congrats!
Thanks.
Very smart using the 1 inch foam for deck supports. I'm gonna do that too!
Thanks for watching. The deck is still holding up fine, with the original foam I used. So it works great.
@@TheLowBudgetOutdoorsmanso you didn't use framing you just used foam??
@kylemartin62 yes, just foam
You could build the power pole system and sell these for small boat anglers like me! Love it!
That was a great video thanks
Nice set up. Love the DIY power pole
The power pole has been extremely useful!
Awesome use of your budget! Great job!
Nice little set up. Enjoy watching. From Nashville Tn
Awesome set up a real working man fishing machine God bless....
Thank!
Nice little setup. I am at the point where I could afford just about any boat I wanted to buy, but enjoy just cruising around in a 12 ft 1975 SeaKing from Montgomery Wards I inherited from my father-in-law a few years ago with a 2.3 Honda on the back. It is a relaxing way to spend a Sunday fishing. I did mount a Lowrance 9 inch GPS chartplotter / fish finder, that probably cost more than the boat is worth, lol.
Thanks for the comment! This little boat setup is fun, and works really well in lots of small water scenarios...and, like you, I put a 9" (Helix si/di/gps combo) unit on it, and that helps
Sweet set up! I'm thinking of doing that to a 12ft boat. I will be the only one in it mainly. So thinking of front half casting deck.
Go for it! Mine is setup just for me (and my little girl sometimes).
giterdone, great job. LIKE IT!
Thanks!
love the name of the channel and this board build. Small boats are awesome.
DIY you remain me of my dad he would of done something like this. Thanks for sharing.
I think you got the whole fishing section of Cabela's right there lol
Lol!
I absolutely love what you've done to this boat man!! i have a similar john boat and im inspired. I have a flat bottom 1971 Seaking jon boat that i love to make the same.
It has worked great for me!
great job, really like the foam framing idea. thanks for posting
You're welcome...and thanks for watching!
Lil boat is fully equipped. Like the foam on edge for casting deck support . Great idea on power pole might need to borrow that . Set the hook brother
I set the hook from it at least 10 times yesterday. lol. Thanks for the comment.
Great video. Good use of space.
nice set up. i enjoyed the video !!!
Thank you!
Sweet little boat dude. I like the cooler/live well mod. I have a 16' Scanoe I fish out of and use a cooler as a live well and that pump set up is awesome. So copying it!
Killed it dude! Me and my brother took notes just bought a project 14'
Thanks! Hope your project will be as fun as mine has been.
absolutely genius
Nice setup. Simple and innovative. I like it!
A very nice little boat. Using the insulation board as reinforcement for your deck was a great idea. All boats are a set of compromises. Your boat has its niche in the shallows and calm waters. I'd rather be fishing there than on rough choppy waters. Your 'power pole' is very cleaver. I wish I'd thought of that before I spent $1200 on my real power pole. I do hope you have a good life vest. If that boat starts taking on water, it could go down fast. Good fishing to you.
Thanks for watching! It is very much a boat for creeks, bays, and shallow or protected areas of the lake. I do have a good life vest, and I also enjoy open water, or medium distance (up to 5k) swimming, so if the boat sinks, I can swim to shore fairly easily in any of the lakes the I fish. But I still always wear the vest if I'm running the gas motor, and bring a change of clothes in a plastic bag if the water temps are really cold, in case I end up in the water somehow.
That foam framing looks like a great idea. Thanks for posting, this is the only place I have seen that!
Thanks for watching! I use the boat frequently, and the foam framing has yet to need replacing (in 4 years of use)
very nice ...I like it
