The "Vegetation is green and in full bloom" refers to the "what makes the grass grow? Blood, blood, blood red blood" call and response.
it goes "What makes the grass grow? Blood makes the grass grow! What makes the blood flow? Marines make the blood flow!" so "Vegetation is green and in full bloom" means that they are killing a lot of people

That’s honestly probably the full reference, the full bloom part that is. Our old MTI used to sing some of the best shit in basic, that from FMJ was one of them.. another good one was My Girlfriend Is a Vegetable... and idk if maybe that’s something to do with it?? That sound in A Hat In Time is actually used normally for the outhouse boss. It becomes less creepy in a more appropriate context.

As pointed out by others already, the "good for you, good for me" line is also part of FMJ. However, the first line in the Japanese in 4:55 is likely missing the word 花 in between the 緑 and は, as that last は doesn't make much sense there and with the 花 it would form the line 草木は緑 花は咲き誇り (plants are green, flowers are in full bloom) and is the opening line of the song 静かな日々の階段を (shizuka na hibi no kaidan wo) by Dragon Ash, which again is the song that plays to the closing credits of the movie Battle Royale. So I'm wondering if whoever put that in simply wanted to reference their favorite movies or something.

The whole easter egg in Klonoa 2 is a reference to Full Metal Jacket. "The vegetation is green in full bloom" is a reference to the line "what makes the grass grow? blood blood blood" during their training. "Good for me, good for you" is a part of one the marching songs, also during the training sequence.

I used to work for Humongous Entertainment in the late '90s doing tech support. The Pajama Sam thing is only the tip of the iceberg, and the most mild thing that I recall being added. From what I recall, the first 3 Pajama Sam games *and* the Spy Fox games had similar content that was hidden until you modified the configuration ini file. In one of the earlier PS games, if you edited the ini file properly, Pajama Sam's flap in the back of his union suit would fall down showing his butt. In one of the Spy Fox games, editing the ini file would give access to an image that showed Spy Fox in fetish gear chained to a wall with his partner Monkey Penny in dominatrix gear holding a whip (I think this was in Dry Cereal). There were more, but it's been over 20 years since I worked there and I can't remember them all.
I almost forgot... In the Blues Clues game we made, the guy that played the main human did a Christopher Walken impression that got added to the game that could be unlocked in the ini file.

I beg to differ on Klonoa 2 not having the "war is hell" theme. The third kingdom you go to is literally named Volk (echoing imperialism, alliance with Nazi Germany and WWII), is said to embody discord, and consists of two factions waging endless war. The destruction of war is very salient and includes a scene where Klonoa passes next to a building which is bombarded a moment after the occupants flee, a mother dragging her child off a playground that gets bombarded a moment later and the main missions in that kingdom include shutting down two nuclear reactors, one of which is on the brink of overloading and killing everyone in the kingdom. In light of that, the text is not out of place.
It's really interesting that the developers of the game fit that theme into it

As someone who has been interested in trying the Klonoa games for years but just haven't gotten around to it, just what the hell are these games about?
I thought they were just your run-of-the-mill cutesy platformers that were everywhere in the 90s, I had no idea there was a deeper narrative to it all.

A Hat In Time IS a kids game. It just has dark elements. Pokemon, Metroid, and Zelda are also games for children with dark elements. There's nothing wrong with liking things for children, and I don't mean this in a patronizing way.

I had to check again, and A Hat in Time is rated "T" for "Teen", due to "Fantasy Violence" and "Alcohol and Tabaco Reference". I don't remember this being the case, but it's been a few years. I can't recall exactly what makes this more intense than, say, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, which has largely the same content, but is rated "E-10+" and is a lot more serious and action-packed.

14:29 Harlan Ellison made my favourite short story named "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" back in 1967. It became a game in 1995 and it has his own voice in it. I strongly recommend everyone to check it out since it expands a lot on the short story and contains multiple endings.

I remember hearing the creepy Hat in Time audio back in like 2018, I still don’t know why it was there, like you said it reminds me of the creepy audio in Splatoon. It’s so interesting that so many games just have creepy left over stuff in their game files, or used but left unfound for years.
My guess would be that it's supposed to remind players that they have a game left on standby.
I think it was added to remind people not to keep their games on for an excessive amount of time.

@@sic6664 I mean. It IS a kid's game. To claim that childrens' games are incapable of holding complex or heavy themes is just willfully dismissive. But 100% original comment is right - Klonoa has always had heavy themes present, even in its handheld games, though most of *that* is restricted to Japan. The fact that there's an entire city in Lunatea that's constantly in a state of destruction because of a neverending war is kind of proof enough that the theme of the horrors of war was at least *somewhat* present. It kind of pissed me off that he would say "there are no themes of war in Klonoa 2" when Volk is right there.

My parents rented Klonoa 2 when I was 7 years old (2002/3). I have a few vivid but abstract memories of the game, and have been trying to figure out what game it was my entire adult life. This video gave me the answer I have been searching for, I cannot put into words how satisfying it feels to finally know.
Fun fact: Littlebigplanet was never intended for kids :) most of the characters are either insane or feel extremely insecure, also having a few instances where the player encounters murder and adult topics. There’s also some naughty stuff in the DLCs that are still out to this day.Mildly naughty, but still not kid stuff.

Just did some Googling, the vegetation might be a reference to the fact that the training sequence in FMJ is supposed to be November/December, but the trees are fully bloomed, filmed in spring or summer.
As for the other half, it's similar to one of the cadence calls during the training sequence. "PT, PT, Good for you, Good for me"

I know why they put the weird sound in Hat in Time; it was so I would remember that weird hat kid game and go buy it to show to my son. He didn't think the sound was that scary, or at least not nearly as scary as the frozen masion level. But what he DID notice was that the spooky noise happens in your bedroom, which is also the hub for the spooky planet and has ghosts on the doors and stuff

The death animations were also inspired from the death animations from a flash game named "Mouton", which basically had the same premise of Transformice but it was with sheep.

Pajama Sam 3 was my #1 game when I was little. I played it _constantly,_ even though I was a dumb kid and never could finish playing it. Now that I’m a teenager, I found the disc in an old box, and decided to replay it. Maybe I’ll try to activate the Easter egg next time XD

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hat in Time one is explained by "literally just a reference to Splatoon," especially knowing the devs like to joke around with their fanbase. The entire audio is just so similar.

When A Hat In Time came up, I immediately thought of DarkViperAU's end screen.
The text dump for the jungle book had to be because beating the ENTIRE GAME during the demo would not have been feasible and so it was literally an unreachable screen, much like the hot coffee situation.

A Hat In Time quite frequently references other games and pop culture, so it’s not out of the question that the sound was a direct reference to the splatoon fight.
I mean, it IS a game that hides cheese wheels in hard to reach areas. But it is also a game that has a movie director go crazy and try to kill you over their own sheer egotism so hey, who knows.
If that does turn out to be a plot point in a DLC/sequel later on though? MAN, would I love to see what made that noise. Even if I mightn’t sleep for weeks.
I don't complain about some of this Easter eggs, especially the inaccessible, and really, really hard ones. I mean what's the problem if the only way to see those are modifying the game files, something which only a very few kids can really do.

I was coming here to say the same thing. During the drills, the drill sargent has a long call and response chant/song. At one point, the chant goes "good for you (good for you!) good for me (good for me!)" So everything in the poem except for the first line is from Full Metal Jacket. Bizzare!

Alright, in that a hat in time easter egg, the room you're in contains a telescope to Subcon Forest, the most traumatizing level in the game, I would say that something is trying to get to Hat kid, or something has already gotten to Hat kid and is in the Ship somewhere

The "Good for me, good for you" must also come from Full Metal Jacket, when Robert Lee Ermey's drill sargeant character runs drills with the platoon in training. He talks about the vagina in a obviously derogatory way and at one point says the aforementioned line.

About the Roblox thing. The commands were not made by Roblox themselves and were community made. A developer made admin commands for developers to use in their games and decided to hide an Easter egg in it with those weird commands.

In A Hat in Time I'm pretty sure the initial sound for the weird easter egg is a boss defeat sound? You can hear it faintly in pretty much every boss.
The second half of the sound is unexplained to me though.
Also it seems to trigger all through the areas surrounding the bedroom aswell, like in the lab and basement
The second sound comes from the outhouse boss.
The scariest thing is, there is no sound in space, and that odd “roar” would have to be IN the Hat Kid’s spaceship.
