The true anxiety in these errors is the fact that you don't know if your console is broken or not, but let's be real, the hardest times we went through our childhood is our consoles breaking.

I literally thought my wii broke because my wii couldn’t recognize my awfully scratched mario kart wii disk, made me abandon it for 4 years only to find it again and try to play it, before realizing that this situation made my wii collect dust for so long it no longer worked. I still have fears of going in to the room where the wii used to be because of that one time. And i have broken 2 computers and 1 ipad since. Ouch.

The creepiness from these is mostly from the fact that we experienced these errors at night where, as a child, we spent most of our time playing games. It was just us, the late night crickets, and nothing else but the brightness of our CRT TVs. Those were great, and sometimes eerie, times.

Man, I was a child that would do that at night, even during the weekends. Sometimes I would just go to my computer to play roller coaster tycoon 2 at night simply because I didn't want school or the next day to come so soon, so I would play these games as much as possible before I end up going to school feeling tired or exhausted.

When I was maybe 8 years old, I remember waking up to hearing Xbox ambient noises(after leaving it on too long) and being too scared to move. I finally gathered enough baby courage to launch myself across the living room to turn it off it was almost worse because nothing is louder for a child than pitch black, open, and empty room... I ran the fastest I could, while in tears and it was from *nothing*.

As a kid who had a pirated Playstation, it was a economic relief.
But it wasn't so much for me. Game discs were labed something as close to what a creepypasta can with badly written names in English I couldn't understood.
Sometimes they could or not work and that bloody Bios screen always scared me, it looked like alien diahrrea and a secret menu that wasn't very pleasing in the eyes.
So I always stuck with good ol' Crash games. Crash Bash had a weird screen to select region: NTSC or PAL a weird music and a monochrome background.
Crash 1 and 2 were normal. But bloody Crash 3, upon starting it showed a text in Japanese, a circle in red and a black background. No music, nothing. Game never started.
After that, I was scared of even touching the console. Got rid of the old Crash 3 disc and bought the right NTSC copy that worked perfectly.

Ps1 fearful harmony explained (from my poor knowledge); the Fearful harmony (Im gonna call it FH) is caused by the system not being able to read a disk in time or properly, thus slowing down the system, as it tries and tries, it keeps on failing, and since it keeps trying, it is lagging out the system, the audio is also lagging, creating FH, it can be caused by a few things, the most notable being damaged/pirated/incorrect (improper region, format, or if it’s supposed to be used in a different system) disks, and no, it’s not an anti-piracy method, so if I got anything wrong, feel free to correct me

@@IShy2 It's mostly a misaligned laser error, the red disc warning. AFAIK it actually only does it with PS2 or PS1 discs, not anything else. If you wanna see it on hardware, your best luck is with an early PS2 slim that didn't have its reading lens or laser readjusted, and one of the large data games (not Okami, for some reason that disc is god-tier at managing to be readable even if it has deep scratches, it prefers to crash on affected area load attempts).

In my opinion, none of these were really scary, or even creepy. They'd really only be creepy if the person seeing them were young and in the dark. Leaving and coming back to a different soundtrack wouldn't really be all that creepy either, maybe a bit if you didn't know that song or those sounds were in the Xbox, but the fear would quickly leave. The RRoD wouldn't be scary or creepy at all, more angering and/or frustrating. And "Personified Fear" is just the PS1 startup sound played in reverse. The creepiest in my opinion is the Jaguar Red Screen just because it flashed red more suddenly than the other RS entries, didn't have any error text and left you on a black screen with no sound. But that'd just be a four if you ask me.
The best console error that's actually scary, as others have stated, is the Wii error. It occurs mid-game, not when you start the console and plays a long, shrill sound which will definitely startle you since you were focused on the game, not the console.

I simply got up one day to replay Minecraft Story Mode, (as I couldn't get the full second part, I was stuck with episodes 1-8, but I didn't mind, as episode 7 was my favourite) and it just didn't turn on. The scary part about the PS2 Console Error, this can actually happen to the early PS2 discs (blue discs rather than the standard DVD disc a bit later on) as well. I did happen to have this happen when I did try to load up the first release version of Crash: Wrath of Cortex and it gave me an error. 11 year old me damn near jumped out of my socks upon seeing that and had to clean the disc before trying again (which worked).

    • @crashb2007

I'll leave my personal opinions about the errors discussed in the video, as well as add in the one error a lot of y'all brought up in the comments (the Wii error SFX)
PS1 RSoD: 0/10 (Really not scary. Just an oopsie, forgot to put the PS1 disc where it goes kinda thing.)
PS2 RSoD: 6/10 (Due to only error I actually did have happen out of everything on this list, and even with the correct discs. If your ears are good, you can faintly hear a heartbeat in this error with the waves. A correction I do want to give, like others have said, here is that if you do decide to put an OG XBox disc in there, a short video will play out with it saying that the disc can only be played on XBox.)
Jaguar RSoD: 2/10 (Certainly raised an eyebrow for me, but not really that scary.)
PS1 Forbidden Image: 1/10 (Again, not that scary, though this seems to happen to modded PS1s.)
Gamecube RSoC: 4/10 (Talk about a piano coming out of nowhere. This might have gotten 11 year old me, but for current me, just an oh.)
XBox 360 RRoD: 7/10 (This actually made me stay far away from XBox for good, if the controller gripe wasn't enough, just from hearing the stories about it. Though if the ring is complete, just replug in the AV cable, should be fine. There are actually people I have seen restore these XBox 360s, to be fair and holy shit, some of the yucky shit that can get caught in the computer boards is yikes.)
The Future OG XBox: 2/10 (This honestly seems more like if you leave it idle too long, never heard of this tbh. Then again, I never messed with an OG XBox. I honestly find what happened to Maximillion Dood's XBox to be scarier, tbh. Look up the video on that one, since it essentially got bricked.)
PS1 Fearful Harmony: 8/10 (Never encountered this error, but oh god, I had to pull my headphones off temporarily. If my console did that, I would never want to be anywhere near that console again. Brrr, that was unsettling and I had damn near screamed in chat with some friends that night.)
PS1 Dreadful Harmony: 5/10 (I think the fact that the chimes are quieter and while it is almost identical to Fearful Harmony, minus the fact that it is a black screen with text now. Unsettling, but a teeny bit scary.)
SEGA CD CD Player Warning: 7/10 (The fact that the lady is speaking to you in a tone that best describes a self destruct sequence is unsettling, but I only rank this down a few more points due to the fact be glad that this is just a warning to not play this on a CD player. Castlevania Symphony of the Night (PS1) also had a similar warning (via Alucard's English VA speaking in character to please take the disc out of the player to place in the PS1) as well.)
PS1 Personified Fear: 3/10 (I don't see what the point of it being that scary, minus the hangup on the Sony Computer Entertainment screen and the SFX for the second screen being played backwards. The harmonies are far scarier compared to this, in my opinion.)
For the one error everyone talked about in comments:
Wii Disc Read Error SFX: 9/10 (I did hear this when my boyfriend and I were playing a modded Smash Bros Brawl. My eyes went wide when I heard that and I had to cover my ears (auditory overload for me). About as yikes as this can get for me.)
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention. If memory serves, the PS2 Console Error did show up on TV Tropes for Nightmare Fuel for a little while before that page got taken down. Wouldn't shock me if some of the rest of the errors did show up on there as well.

Lmao, the audio repeating at the end caught me as I was looking down at my phone and looking up to see the xenomorph made the back of my neck tingle harshly XD

The PS2 error screen is really eerie, when compared to the first system, especially with the unsettling music. I had a modded playstation up until recently, and other than the eject button being broken, there didn't seem to be any differences with the startup screen, but it was able to play all regions no problem, until recently when the whole spindle came out so it had to be replaced.

For those who don’t know. The PS1 audio logo, after the Sony Computer Entertainment part is read off the disc you have inserted into the console. Which is why these variations exist when playing with modded hardware or emulators. It’s simply an error being played out. It was designed that way by the composer who made it so that if it would not play correctly, you would know something is wrong.
This is explained somewhat in the final entry of the video.
So when you’re inserting a PS1 disc into a PS2 or PS3, it’s the disc basically telling the console chip to play these sounds of the audio logo in that order and on those levels. I believe the graphic for the logo is also technically on the disc. Which is why the PS1 logo without the Sony Computer Entertainment part plays when playing PS1 discs on later gens.

The scariest part of the Red Rings of Death (Xbox 360) is the fact that everyone knew that if they saw it, their console was likely toast. Those other screens unnerved me as a kid, or even scared me, but I would have been in DESPAIR if I saw an error that was commonly known to mean that my disk wasn't just scratched, but my console fried...

The Xbox was my console growing up (the OG) and honestly I always liked the ambience and the chattering. Honestly, going over to my cousin's house and accidentally triggering the Gameboy Player error screen was more startling than listening to the robot voice chatter.

not the creepiest, but the scariest was the wii crashing noise, most times it happens out of nowhere when you're least expecting it with a sudden loud buzzing noise that sounds as if your tv was suddenly set to max volume.

The creepiest from this video for me was the last soundtrack from the Xbox. I don't know why, but that tone just unsettles me to the core.
One that wasn't in this video though, has got to be the sound of death that the Wii makes when a game crashes. Just, you're calmly playing a game and out of nowhere: *EEEEEEEE*

The PS2 RSOD never scared me. But the Sega CD warning is the scariest!
