T90 forgot to mention this but teutons can garrison more units in buildings(Rubenstock could garrison 25 while Hera could garrison 15) so even if the opponents tried to fight they'd get outgunned
It's just for protection...there's a tc attack cap which doesn't extend beyond 10 or 15 vils.
@@ArnabChaks007 That's not true, for Teutons, their TC can shoot 15 arrows for with just 15 villagers garrisoned.

I'm actually a wee bit sad about when you were mentioning the civs and what the persian douche is, etc., you completely miss the SOLE reason why Rubenstock chose teutons: the +10 garrison for TC's.
Well the actual reason is the extra arrows which caps at I think 15 vils for teutons, but the normal cap is at 10 vils garrisonned.
And Rubenstocks probably like "Ok guys, I'm on the way to Castle age.... Wait, what? Why's the game already over?" lmao
Plate barding was at like 98% when Max lost his blacksmith.

(Just a side note to confirm that you were not crazy about the plate barding armor upgrade: the overlay clearly shows Max researching it as soon as he hits imp, along with cavalier. The upgrade never finishes and his blacksmith was probably destroyed. He eventually had to rebuild one - he even made 2 - to research blast furnace but only realized he was missing plate barding armor when he started researching the infantry defense upgrades for his axemen.)

Hey T90Official, I came across your channel totally randomly, you got me back into AoE2 after a decade of not playing.
My favorite thing on your channel is the Blue Coffee videos. But beyond that I am a huge fan of the community diplo regicide matches.
I thought of a tactic while watching them I would love to see, that I havent. Im curious if anyone can point me to a vid where this is done, or if not, i hope someone tries it.

I want to see where one player gets wrecked by another, and a third player tells them: "I will take you in, and allow you to reboom and I will help you get revenge and kill the person who bullied you, BUT I will hold your king hostage in a tower with walls around it, and you must work for me."
I've been waiting for this community game strategy. There was one game where someone walled in enemy kings and took them hostage but not handled through diplo.
I can't remember the game but yes this has happened! Lol. The one player took 2 or 3 hostages that game. It was so funny.

Rubenstock's methods seem to work more for team play rather than solo play since it's clear that he works well alongside TheMax. In both matches that I've seen here, Max was able to build up immensely and covered Rubenstock while he went about pulling off his tactics.

Damn... I find it so amazing how the AoE2 community is growing so much. I remember 4 years ago each AoE2 video getting an average of 2.500 views. Just look ar it now 53.000!!!

Hilarious. If it were just a T90 community game Rubie would be the MVP hands down. That fact that this is pro level just amplifies his bossitude. It also shows what a complex and amazing game this is, that it can still be evolving with completely unexpected moments so far along.

@Lyl Why can it only play one race/map?
Sundy King probably the way it was designed and trained. You could try designing a machine learning algorithm around random maps but it would be quite hard, as you’d have to hook it up to AOE2 in such a way that it can “see” trees, gold, fog of war, etc, and then you would have to train it how to react to them and clumps of them etc.
It’s fundamentally the same as teaching these things to learn how to react to player behaviours, but you’re just giving it more and more things it has to learn, and then you have to train it combine all that learnt stuff together.
Starcraft is great for this kind of thing since the maps are the same so you might get away with training the algorithm purely off of prerecorded mouse movement, hotkeys, clicks, and video frames; for that you might want to stick to one map and race for best results.
Machine learning with AOE2 is possible (if a human can do it, so too can a machine theoretically do it well enough too), just a broader challenge.
@@sundyking1172 They only trained it on one map and one race (Protoss), so it's unclear how the current architecture would behave when trained on multiple maps and civs when applied to AoE.
Teaching it to 'see' trees and gold and such isn't a significant problem, and the current generation of AI isn't trained specifically on any of those tasks, the first step of training agents is to start with a large library of real player replays which include foresting and mining so it implicitly learns how to recognize and exploit those resources.

Well he got slung by Zippy/Villese and Rubenstock later, early TC drop annoyed Liereyy that was the main player and other 2 players. It was a team strat!
Hel low just one correction there: Liereyy was the only one in [aM'] *_not_* to have a TC dropped on his base. :-B
I think the term "legend" is reserved for people who succeed with unconventional strategies. TheMax is just a really skillful player playing the game straightforwardly.
Edit: Although it is a team strategy, so he definitely deserves an honorable mention

Rubenstock, he has been around for years, I remember playing against him in Europe 1000 pop servers on game ranger back in the mid 2000’s
Only works for Chaos Pit. Limited starting area + limited gold makes TC drops + loomed vills almost unbeatable.

IDK if it is really the legend of Rubenstock, but rather the legend of Rubenstock + TheMax. Rubenstock nobly sacrifices himself to give Max a free boom and then the Max protects Rubenstock and hammers the enemy players

you are indeed correct, in AOK it was pretty common to see one to drop the original tc as Teutons to take advantage of the extra range (+5 range since dark age)
I’m very new to AOE franchise but decided to try the TC rush, this was my second attempt as on the first one I ran out of wood at a very critical moment. 11. - so u have some noob games that u cast and I would love you to give my noob attempt some critical commentary. After all we learn faster if someone can give criticism as we go. Please let me know if you would be interested, I thought it was an entertaining game.

I used to play this game all the time when it was new. Is this a newer version of it? I don’t remember some of the civilizations you mention being available as choices?
After it got an HD edition it seems like they went and released new DLC's for it at some point. store.steampowered.com/app/221380/Age_of_Empires_II_HD/ Looks like about 6 months after the first new DLC was released for it.

This is the second game I've seen with Ruben. The other was in that game vs china (I think) where he did this as well. I was a fan then and I'm a fan now. What a team player. If this were league of legends, he'd be the support and he supported beautifully.
You don't have to be strong so long as you make sure your enemy isnt strong either.
And the logic makes sense. This strategy is dumb in a 1v1 vs someone who remotely knows what they are doing because you fuck yourself and the enemy but you fuck yourself more (assuming they responded correctly). But ina team game, sure your enemy is less fucked than you...but they are now WAY weaker than your allies. And he just keeps doing it over and over and over. It can't be a one and done. He seemingly needs to do it at least 3 times to at least 2 different people. His job isn't to win, its to make as many enemies as miserable as possible. It's sucha dick move but its brilliant and so original.
I mean, its the same mindset as a drush. Sure, killing enemy villagers is cool, but even if you can just idle a few for a while, job well done because now your economy is more efficient and you eased the pressure off yourself because the enemy is worried about their base, not yours. This is simply a much higher risk much higher reward drush thats only effective in a team game lol.
Who said that Teutons are a slow civilization or that they are only really powerful in castle age or later?

Watching professional 1v1s is great, but team play is mindblowing, especially when TheMax is playing. He's such an incredible team player, it's ridiculous.

Not only that he placed the TC's but also the way he used the vills to help out max with his scouts.
Depending on the map I think its pretty solid to pick civs who mainly focus around early game damage and helping out with rest of the team with slinging and maybe even decent teambonuses.
Thinking about even two players sacrificing themselves for a support role to completely shut down the enemy team early on while the other two getting the techs to seal the deal.

I think this is the biggest difference between AM and Secret. If you surprise AM with an outside-the-box strategie, they can't handle this so well like Secret.
