Feitorias are really inefficient pop-wise but you do save the 1000 food you'd otherwise spend on villagers, and they are built faster than 20 villagers too. Since Viper was always hovering around 160 pop I think he could have actually built 2 more feitorias. If he did that, and built them at a more defensible position, things could have certainly gone better. Although he'd probably still lose in the end because of his refusal to build anything other than organ guns.

How about a deathmatch with only grass/snow on the map and 5 feitoria at the start to make res? Relics are the only other res. No water, no cliff/hill or anything else.
@@T90Official IMO a mod to garrison villagers inside feitoria's to boost resources production would make the game more... interesting. (once you garrison a villager it no longer uses pop space and you can't ungarrison then, like a sacrifice for the greater production - max of 20 villagers per feitoria, 5% boost per villager)
I THINK the Feitorias could be used effectively in team games to get back into the game if you (as a portugese obviously) gets demolished, leaving the game a 2v3/3v4. By having your team mates sling you so you can build 4-5 feitorias, you could almost *instantly* get back on your feet, without needing to reboom, and either start making units again or sling the gold and stone to the remaining team mates.

It does not look like a TIE fighter, the wings are uneven. But it is similar and looks a bit like an S wing. BTW I am a Star Wars fan and TIE = Twin Ion Engine. And viper coulda mined the stone in the back of his base 2 to increase stone income.
With all of that stone I'd have loved to see a more defensive play from Viper--using all that stone to wall up, and build safe bombard towers that would take down any rams trying to get to your base. Amass resources and then wall off more and more of the map with your huge amounts of stone, until you can finally push into enemy base. Agree?
Since there is not live chat who can react, I will make it for them: T90 Noob caster, T90 doesnt know tech tree (even though most of us wouldnt know it any better) And for the extra bit livestream experience: Baby shark dodododo....
I think one should only have at most 1/3 of the max pop be feitorias, as long as resources are plentiful on the map. That way, if you lose a resouce to enemy attacks, you still get that from feitorias, and have an extra chance of comebacck and winning. 1/3 feitorias, 1/3 eco with spammed military buildings, 1/3 military which is quickly replenishhed. And plenty of towers to defend and stall. Slower, but safer. So for 200 max-pop, 3-4 feitorias, 80-60 economy, 10 builders, 50 military.
Building Feitorias forwards is actually smarter than hiding them. You would effectively be using them as map control, and could use them as walls. I mean, you have strong siege units, and place a 10k health structure in front of them.
I would have noded in agreement if it wasn't Viper trying to troll... Like do you really think that the best player currently doesn't know how to do proper compositions. He had his fun with stupid strategy that's all.
Feitoria: (historical) A Portuguese trading post, usually fortified and built in coastal areas along the West and East African coasts, Indian Ocean and Brazil, from 1445 onward. It served simultaneously as market, warehouse, navigation support and customs, and was governed by a feitor (factor) to dominate the local trade with the Portuguese kingdom (and thence to Europe). Inspired by medieval European factories, feitorias were supplanted in the 16th century by rival Dutch and British colonial factories (trading posts).
Trash units aren't as easy to field on this fragile eco as it normally would be. Just goes to show, if Viper wouldn't pull it off with Feitoria, probably nobody ever can.

Had it been a serious strategy and a serious game, i think you would have seen them protected in the back of his base with some walls for extra protection.
All Viper needed to do was mass double or tripple the amount of organ guns during the first push, he kept throwing away groups of them and didn't have a defend-able base.
What is neat about the Feitoria is that it uses the exact same noise as the Trade Workshop, which is only available in the scenario editor and seen in the campaigns. The problem is Trade Workshops do nothing except look nice and make a cool sound when you click them. It would be interesting to see if Ensemble Studios was going to do something with it or if it is more of an unused file sort of thing.
I could see a use for Feitorias vs. an opponent that invests a lot into cavalry and eco raiding. Slap up some towers or a castle beside them and you never have to worry about your villagers getting chopped up.
Feitoria is useful for the late game grind when you ran straight out of most gold and stone it allows you to not produce just trash. Very situational but not useless by any stretch of the imagination
The Feitoria take up to much pop space. Maybe if they started off small and ramped up with each new one, more people would use them, and that would change the game completely. Imagine if the first one was zero pop, then five, ten, fifteen, twenty, or maybe zero/5/10/20/40, something along those lines. Maybe even free/5/15/30/45, so that each person can realistically build 3, but after that it starts to really hurt? I'm sure it could be tweaked to make it an amazing staple to the game. Also, maybe a kill the Feitoria game. Lose your Feitoria and die.
The problem with Feitoria is that its pop cost is WAY too steep for the income it produces. I think it should have double the cost and double the resource output if its going to be 20 pop building. The resource output of a Feitoria is worth only about 6 villagers I think.
