💬As I mentioned previously, this song had so many amazing reactions to it… I had to do it. But this one was tricky! There were four different videos the reactors listened to. An “original” version, the official version, a “live” version (wasn’t really live), and a lyric video. If there was an entry for "power ballad" in the dictionary it would say to listen to this song. I became a huge Scorpions fan when Blackout came out and didn't think they could possibly do any better....until this album dropped. Truly one of the iconic albums of the '80s!!
There's a saying that, when an artist reaches the level of a genius with a song or a poem , it belongs to the heritage of mankind and not one country. I like that. Nevertheless, I was a kid when this song was in the charts. We were blown away: "A German band!" We all bought guitars. The first song I ever played on a guitar (an age old sunburst no name Strat) was this particular song we had taken out of a book called "Learning guitars with the Scorpions". (Sidenote: it took us days to find out, what the Whammy bar was good for. Imagine three guys picking, strumming, knocking the guitar at the same time, turning knobs and twirling the bar clockwise, counterclockwise. It was so hilarious)
I hope this had not been mentioned yet, but Yoshiki produced a movie called "Yoshiki under the Sky"and he had artists from different countries performing while he accompanied them on his crystal piano. The Scorpions were one of the selected groups. Absolutely beautiful. To be in the business for such a long time and still move people deeply in their soul is a big accomplishment. I am proud of my fellow countrymen.-- Thank you Dear for this amazing job.🤍
Absolutely love the Scorpions and they are fantastic live. I was lucky enough to see them headline the 1986 Monsters of Rock in Nuremberg, West Germany with Ozzy, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Warlock and MSG....fun times
For those of you who did not grow up in the 70s/80's: let me introduce you to the rock ballad. I think the 70s nailed the rock ballad and the regular ballad if I'm being honest. Thanks for making this compilation video. I really love it.
This song is basically a duet between the lead singer and lead guitarist. Just an amazing arrangement the way they mixed in the vocals with the guitar. This was my era growing up so whenever I hear the Scorpions it definitely brings back memories.
Klaus has an incredible voice and still can hit those notes. Rudy Schenker is an amazing guitarist as well as his brother Michael. This band has been around since the early 70s and has quite the catalog of hits and songs. As great as their ballads are their hard hitting songs are what I love the most. I've seen them live in almost every decade and every show it just as great.
I love to try and imagine what the creation process was like..They always say that they hoped for it to be a hit, but this one? Imagine being in the mixing booth whilst this vocal track was being laid down...oooohhh. I'm in a band myself, and I know when we nail it. when nobody says a word after that special take, just a look of awe...and then someone yells "did we get that recorded
They didn’t. They get to enjoy it too. Voyages of discovery each one of them can make. And they get to see what amazing music the future holds as well, popular cycles being what they are. Remember how the Stray Cats brought rockabilly back around, at least briefly? Or how the late nineties seemed to encapsulate several previous generations of music? Rock is sleeping. It’s not dead. Not even close. I envy the children. They should pity US.
The POWER of the quintessential power ballad! Great job as always! I've been a fan of Scorpions since Blackout was released and own most of their catalog I prefer their older 70s music, but enjoy all of it. Sadly, few reactors go deep, 'We'll Burn the Sky' is another one of my favorite power ballad by them. Very similar to 'Still Loving You' in song structure. Again GG WMOG!
