"When in a live roll, most of the time that you spend is going to be in a neutral position"
Speak for yourself I spend 80% of my rolls under side control
I can relate...
Kkkk
Just heel hook everyone bro
facts
he may be referring to where you start instead of where you end up
John Danaher has very impressive ventriloquism skills.
James Pappas 😂😂😂
I was about to say the same thing hehe,, you can see john danaher speaking all the way,.....
Mmkkk
Lol
Even his tone and timing match Danaher's lol. Smart though to mimic such a great teacher.
I feel advantageous after watching this.
*advantage
😂
@@sly.al.6404 lolololol that drove me crazy
Here he sounds strangely like Danaher mixed with Ben Shapiro.
He pretty much is
Didn't know you did Jiu-Jitsu :O
🤣underrated comment
mkay
Shapiro lmao so true
Thank you Jon Danaher. Your hair looks lovely today.
By Ryan's teaching style, you could tell he's trained by Danaher!
Yeah, you can tell who he spends most of his time with okmm :D :D
soon as he started talking he sounded just like Danaher
100% right
OMG do not tell me
XD
Ash Moore same creepy facial expressions
One of the best counter to the closed guard is a fat belly
Banner Carlos That's quite true.
I've worked on this one for many years
and that's why there is half guard
It might sound funny but it's absolutely true by experience, u simply can't close the guard
It’s also a great counter to the mount.
the slight breathing of the cameraman adds a new level of concentration
Damn. Danaher's influence on Gordon is astonishing. I click on this to learn some techniques. Instead I was treat to the best John Danaher impression I've ever seen. Even their mannerisms are extremely similar.
I can see, of course, the good influence of JD in the way Gordon teaches. I'm sure he's already an outstanding teacher.
I was also thinking the same, the way he aproachs and the way he talks is similar
Awesome video! I really like the systematic, strategic breakdown! I'll be looking for more videos from Gordon! Thanks for this!
Wow picked up so much from this and understand tot more. Great comments about pulling the long end of the lever I wish my instructor spoke about that stuff not just the technique
Awesome technique. GR is really a gifted grappler. Sounding a lot like his teacher, Coach John Danaher, sans the accent, when he teaches. Thanks for sharing @Bernardo!
Awesome!!!!! Love you Gordon!! Can’t wait till this comes out. Like a kid @ Xmas!! Woohoo!!
This is amazing. Please do more of these
I love the summary Bernardo gives
Thanks for the Intel Gordon and Bernardo
Great video, adding some video examples from actual fights can really upgrade it. Osss
Hearing Gordon’s muffled voice “an angular advantage 🤓” while being in that goofy position at 3:37 cracked me up 😂 with all due respect of course he’s a beast and I’m a fan
Who else hears Gordon as a Danaher who just speaks slightly faster?
Thank you! Not a lot of No gi closed guard videos out there.
Check out Neil Melanson's stuff
We can all agree this was a good lesson on closed guard. Thank u
What a great video! Thank you Gordon 🙏🏻 Oss
Very good video and great tips
Very Nice! Love this guy!
Awesome lesson... I am going to try bjj
Fantastic video!
Love Gordon's game. He's probably the best ever nogi submission fighter of all time. I would love to see him do some MMA before he's done.
This is gold !
Gordon does a good job explaining things.
awesome info
Bernardo, when do you expect this series to be released? Excited to pick it up!
Amazing thank you
Love this is breakdown
Love it. Closed guard is my game and i love it ! Your giving away my secrets 😂
Gordon blinked 50 times in the first 10 seconds
He was definitely nervous in the beginning then relaxed a little bit, doing things like this especially in front of the camera is fucking hard
He'd been watching Ryan Hall just before
@@paulcole1938 I'm fuckin screaming bro
Lol look at how he blinks at the end while the other guy is talking
@@Rujewitblood it’s Morse code.
Great stuff
Really great explanation behind why he's doing these moves. Is it just my or is Ryan Gordon a blinking machine?
So effing excited
This video is incredibly helpful. Wow. Much appreciated
Gordon's jiujitsu is on another level.
Great vid you just earned a sub 👊👍
Gordon doesn't only talk like Danaher, but if you follow his insta you'll know he writes like him too. I've mistaken his jujitsu posts for Danaher's many times, lol.
I found ti's really useful thank you
Yeah he sounds funny and doesn’t use the best words but he’s a bjj genius.
EXCELLENT JOB! Thank you so much. I really love those tricks in order to get an advantage position. It is amazing, 👌👌
Masterpiece
I think Darth Vader is behind the camera...
Tyler Cook 🤣
Like that micro adjustment he performed on Luke
dude i typed the same thing, and scrolled down. great minds
He sounds like Clyde from South Park
Clyde mixed with Jesse Eisenberg 😂
I've been trying to place that voice lol. Now who's brave enough to say it to his face though
Dean Larson bang on the money duder
Sounds like Ben Shapiro
Is this what his childhood looked like? ua-cam.com/video/N3XTclvnT9I/v-deo.html . And also a little of this. The early days in Danaher's dojo. ua-cam.com/video/7Bms6Hba-3A/v-deo.html
Gordon Ryan fanboys are gonna start saying advantage positions instead of advantageous now
I'm triggered
that one got me good
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says "Angular advantage"
sounds advantageous
Yup :3
Nice Gordon talking exactly like danaher instructional!
Gordon being all sneaky with these micro-adjustments
I just want to hear Bernardo say huge honor for me
Good to see the knee is better, osssss 🥋
when the arm is across is that what dds call the side scissor?
8:06 he just took in a breath of helium
Take a shot every time he says "advantage position".
i got one better. A Shot everytime he blinks!
I just did this with only a beer or three and it is rough lol.
I’ll wait until my depression really gets a hold of me before I try it.
I promise i agree
4:38 Did he just say "the General Patton is"?
It's kinda funny how mr. Gordon Ryan elaborates on the concept of closed guard, sounding pretty much like prof. John Danaher. But maybe that's a given...
hypgnosis Yeah I was just thinking that the Death Squad always tends to explain things like Daddy Danaher
Its almost like they didnt come up with all this by themselves. Wierd.
@@CH-tv1cy it's almost as if people learn from their instructors sometimes lol
Only closed guard video I ever clicked.
Noone At all lol same
Gordon Ryan 😍❤❤
Finally
The words advantageous
This is John Danaher in Gordon Ryan’s voice.
So when is Gordon going to put out his closed guard instructional?
WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT?
no one: **nothing**
camraman: **breathes**
Yeah..bruh...im confuse with my own breath...i pause a few times just to make sure its not mine..😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
*advantageous
Scary. More than just talent. Science mastery
When is this being released?
when will the instructional come out cause i need to start saving money bjjfanatics
They have financing options now. Gonna keep me broke, dammit
Young goat
We can all agree.
He even has taken up Danaher's mannerisms. Good grasshopper
4:34 Everyone agrees we're still in closed guard?!?!
Jesus damn, I didn't realize you were on UA-cam!
Uh oh we got a real Good Ass ova hea
@@edwardtupper6374 okay neil tyson
Yes it is closed guard. Whenever someone is in between your hips and knees, he is in your closed guard. Closed guard doesn't necessarily mean that your ankles need to be closed.
@@prufkazuya5712 Where do you personally draw the line between open and closed guard then?
0:21 Gordon is like “lmao yeah right”
Watched 5 seconds and pressed like.
now i continue watching
interesting but I don't see Gordon playing much closed guard in general, not high percentage enough for him compared to attacking the legs?
The másters🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Jesus, Gordon... "an advantage position" --> advantageous
Brian C cant quite pull off the Danaher vocab. But trying!
@@alexscarla8433 He was definitely trying at the start but just gave in
Looked like he found it a bit overwhelming. He’ll be kicking himself now no doubt. Also danaher went to university before ever training. He started bjj at 28 or something. Gordon’s maxed out his head with ‘mat talk’ since 15. Hes doing well though 👍
Brian C came to find this comment
Well he is a dropout
Legenda !! Por favor
Everyone can agree that he says "everyone can agree" a bit to often.
...Mkay
This video is like they key and I'm the Allen my shit just got a whole lot tighter
Underrated comment 😂
I here John Danher's influence on Gordon Ryan. Greatness.
Who's Jeff danher
You mean Ed Rogan?
You mean Jesus.
I wonder if he'll cover the rubber guard in his video lol
Advantageous
ADVANTAGEOUS
General Patton!
advantage position
*advantage positions*
Coming out with a dvd on closed guard for no gi?
yeah I think it came out today
The word you’re searching for is advantageous
"The General Patton is..." 4:39
He sounds like the guy from between 2 ferns
James Ramos hahaha thats good he does sound like Zach.
I feel I'm in an advantageous position if I just have someone in my closed guard. Not neutral. But I'm just a blue belt so wtf do I know.
But good video.
I've heard it described as closed guard with their posture broken is slightly advantageous to you while closed guard without their posture broken is slightly advantageous to them. They are still "on top" and if there were strikes allowed it could still be super dangerous if they have posture.
@@christianfairfaxpk That makes sense. I really started feeling that my closed guard was a great position for me after I studied posture breaking and posture control a lot. So I'm good at hand fighting and posture control now in my guard now.
I know words i have the best words
The comment section is undefeated
3:03 waittt soooo i can’t just frantically move around? But that’s what I always do :( and get nowhere lol sigh 😔
