It's kind of true though. I get from butterfly-half to ashi all the time, but they defend or escape. Him saying that spoke to me. I cam get from half gaurd to leglock positions, bit can't finish. I guess I need to focus on those techniques.
@@ashtoncomer935 I would agree to a certain extent. In No-Gi, stalling is useless, there is not nearly as much grip fighting and many times athletes stall for points/cardio recovery. Grip fighting in the Gi cause most of the stalls. In No-Gi, stalls are more deliberate. You should always be thinking Sub or Die.
I've got Gordon's sit up guard instructional and completed running through it with a partner. Would you get this half guard instructional next or the supine guard next? I want to complete them in the best order and the half guard one seems like it builds on the information from the first two.

amazing to see how Gordon’s half guard is just adding to / filling out the foundation that John has laid in his own half guard instructionals. speaks volumes to Gordon’s commitment to learning and John’s prowess as an instructor
I love watching gordon compete now vs when he was younger. He doesn't even break a sweat anymore. It's amazing how well he moves through his series, with anyone he rolls with and they are always deferent and flawless. 🤙
You need to be able to do many things from half guard. Reguard, leg locks, ashe garami, leg locks, dog fight, leg locks, tickle, leg locks and also leg locks.

“People like to back up and stall.” But Gordon’s the one on his ass making people come to him. I’ve always wondered what would happen if Gordon’s opponent sat down with him.
5:34... you can also throw a hard half Nelson and pull his head under while shifting your hips perpetually to his body and end up with a reverse headlock.... sometimes, they'll give up a crucifix! Said this 52 year old ex wrestler.... Lol.. just saying 😌
When is Gordon collecting enough balls and doing MMA like he said he would, let's go already, I want to see if his systems work the way he says they do..
Gordon Ryan's instructional DVD's are exceptional and worth every penny. The only thing that could've made it better for me is if he branded it 'American' i.e. American open guard, American half guard, etc. (just kidding, but seriously)
''if you want to be good at halfgard you need to be good at jiujitsu'' thx Gordon...
Lol thought same thing

He’s so polarizing. He says the smartest dumbest shit
Hes is right though. Half guard isnt useful if you arent able to transition to other positions of control to attack from.

It’s honestly common in bjj to get locked up and have to try to think about what to do next

He's a pretty good instructor. Very helpful
Oh man I literally got a Andre galvao ad for his guard passing lol

What guard is the best to give the most slaps to your opponent
The Galvao Guard
@@titan1369 so much burn
Preferably a guard where your opponent has a free hand to flip the middle finger at you before you slap.

if one of the systems fails...use open palm strikes
is knee shield half guard the same as z guard?
Yes, but Z-guard emphasizes the knee low, down by the hip whereas knee shield places the knee higher, by the shoulder/chest.
Maybe Andre Galvao should have learned some of this and he could have dealt with that slap
Gordon's favourite Brazilian song is"Nao doi um tapinha nao doi so um tapinha" MC Naldinho
