^This! Queen thanked and repaid Mike Myers the favor by giving him a sizable role in the biopic film; ironically as the record exec telling Queen NOT to release the epic song! I'm not sure how obvious that is to most folks who saw 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

Fun Fact: According to guitarist Brian May, Freddie Mercury did give permission for the song to be used and saw the clips while he was close to death because Mike Myers had sent a tape and wanted him to see it, which Mike Myers really fought to keep the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the movie and nearly the whole song too.
Also, Tia Carrere was already an accomplished singer before this movie and did all her singing scenes. She also learned how to play the bass guitar for the songs too.
Definitely can't wait for "Wayne's World 2" reaction!

The reason Stairway To Heaven was "denied' is because in real life the rights for the song were gonna be too steep. In actuality they only played two correct notes and had to edit the other notes or else they'd have to pay the very steep rights to use the real riff. It became more of a running gag because because in real life people used to play Stairway To Heaven when testing new guitars

    Fun Facts:
-The robot Garth was hitting was created to take out Benjamin and activated when Benjamin walked up to Garth.
    - The big guy doorman is Meatloaf (a rock icon)
    - Chris Farley was originally going to play Shrek without a Scottish accent, due to his passing during development, they went with Mike Myers (next on the SNL call list)

I was 18 when this movie came out, and when my son was about 13 I made him watch it(because I’m a good mother) and now he’s 29 and we both still quote it to this day. Pop culture is culture!

The joke about stairway is that it's so popular and just complicated enough for a newish guitarist to try and show off by playing it. Leading to it being butchered and badly played over & over in guitar stores. It's not that they hate on it being played badly, everyone starts somewhere. It's just that retail hell of hearing the same song on repeat forever. Hence, the "ban".
