The late Sylvia Sidney had been hit by a car and had been injured. Tim Burton waited for her to heal as much as possible (Which is why she's in a wheelchair) rather than recast the role. He truly loved her.
Her scene with her laughing over Congress getting destroyed, is probably my favorite scene. I also enjoyed her as Juno the case worker in Beetlejuice
This is one of Jack Black's first movies he wasn't that expensive, he just wasn't known enough for a main role.
it was the 15th movie he'd been in and 31st acting role
@@andurilmat yeah like i said one of his first movies he's been in like what 100? 200? by now
@@andurilmat This was before Tenacious D took off, so he really wasn't known.
@@andurilmatnope, 15th role, not movie. Huge difference back when TV ruled the airwaves. Sure, he was in X-files for a bit part that totalled a few minutes, he was also in bio dome before this, but only for maybe 12 seconds mostly in the background other than a shot where he strums a guitar and shouts a line about "saving the fuckin trees" along with kyle gass. That type of stuff doesn't count, it's just his climbing the ladder.
@Chillbilly204 doesn't change the fact that Mars attacks. Was the 15th movie he'd worked on and his 31st acting role
Watching it now as an adult, you realize how many big names celebrities were in this movie
No, as a kid seeing this in the theater I grew up already familiar with all of these actors, except for Natalie.
WHAT!? 😲 You've NEVER seen this 🎦 movie before!?
Wow! Where have You been hiding at!?
I'm j/k, LOL. 😂 😎 👍
oh my gosh, i Really Hope Mr. Video watches Next either "Pixels" (another FUNNY Adam Sandler movie) and/or "Paul" (another FUNNY 👽 👽 alien movie with MORE cussing and vulgar stuff, things i know Mr. Video will ENJOY)! LOL. 😂 😎 👍
@@YodatheHobbitI echo this statement, except I did already know Natalie Portman from "The Professional", with Jean Reno. Cool movie, as well as her actual first role.
Jack black wasn't a name at that time either 😅@@YodatheHobbit
One of the most underrated movies ever made!
That scene when the aliens dressed up as that creepy woman and she was floating not walking 😂 that used too terrify me as a kid 😂
I'm 28 and it still terrifies me
@@Princess_Mononoke558 yeah bro 29 and still gives me the creeps 😆
This brings me memories 😂
Same that one used to give me nightmares
This movie is so fun. I wish they’d make more like this. So quirky. Thanks for reacting and sharing with us sir.
What was the alien movie with Jeff Goldblum? That one’s pretty fun too.
@@alfreddreamerphotocomics4880Independence day?
@@lmcgregoruk No it wasn’t Independence Day, it was Earth Girls Are Easy. It got the same kind of feel Mars Attacks does. It’s pretty funny and fun.
Sadly this didnt do very well in theaters but it became a cult hit later on.
Everytime you see or hear Tom Jones , you gotta do THE CARLTON BANKS
The thing very few seem catch onto, is this was based on a series of Topps trading cards, great 50s style alien attack series. People getting vaporized, dogs having heads transplanted with humans, the movie is almost a perfect adaptation (since there wasn't really a story in the cards other than evil aliens attacking).
I collected those trading cards when I was a kid!
Alright we watching this tonight, mars attacks is a classic ACK ACK ACK ACK
Ack ack ack! 🇧🇩
This movie is chock full of A listers. I see this as a cult classic. Not really getting the reaction it deserved when it first came out but grew in popularity over the years. I love the grandma character. She was Juno the caseworker in Beetlejuice. Awesome movie. Awesome reaction Leo.
Not sure if you know but the boxer is Jim Brown one of the greatest RB in NFL history for the Browns
I saw this pop up today and fan-girled a bit at work as I freaked out yelling, “HE DID MARS ATTACK!! OH MY GOD MARS ATTACK”. ❤❤❤
The lil nerf lazer guns kill me 😆 🤣 💀
Near the beginning but I KNOW THE MOVIE AND THIS'LL BE HILARIOUS! LOL!!!
It's a satirical take on how movies always follow same patterns, can't kill off the main characters, or the "high end" actors. So when this came out, and they just killed off one after the other ( MIchael J Fox was HUGE at that time, as was Pierce Brosnan and many more...) was just mindblowing to watch. I know me and my friends were torn between how to feel about it after walking out the cinema :)
How fun! I never see people react to Mars Attacks, and it’s one of my underrated comedy faves from when I was a kid.
Hell yea bro one of my favs!
Love this movie! My fav part is when Pam Grier pulls the bus over to get her kids!!
Hell no I wouldn't go see them lol. By the way, the Martian's told the world they were bad in the beginning if you listen to the first translation "Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest." Go back and listen to what they say there and to give you a better translation here's what they say:
"Martians, 800,000 years ago, we created the human halfbreeds. We fight for the right to control the cosmos. The power of the Martians, fighting under the dark suede flag, will mow your people down, like a harvest of wheat."
I never knew this, good bit of trivia!
That donut shop was actually made famous...
It's ironic how much the way people act then versus how people act now have changed... Seems like there was a little more unity in humanity
The reason Mars sends their whole army is because they know Earth will kick their ass
Great reaction, Leo! Tom Jones was from Wales and was white.
He’s not dead 😂
@@hejmonika1001You're correct. That makes me happy😅 Thanks!
You should check out Attack the Block, it's w/ John Boyega before he was in the new Star Wars, and it's about a bunch of British hood dudes fighting off an alien invasion.
The dove in thier culture means war 🤣 so that one guy fucked it up for us all. 🤣
Low key love this movie Lol
This movie is a partial spoof of Earth vs The Flying Saucers
Mars Attacks was a vintage trading card collection
But its basically a parody of classic sci-fi space movies
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Omg I love that you have reviewed this film. My all time fave, just because Tom's in it.
The guy you keep asking g if he's Beetlejuice is actually Jack Nicholson, who also plays the president. Ironically, the actress who plays the grandma was in Beetlejuice. She played Juno, the Maitlands case worker.
Holy crap! I've been waiting for someone to react to this movie for ages.
'Quaker in Jamaica'. Never notice that one. Peace All
Such an underrated work of art, I really don’t think Burton made a bad movie in until after 2000, I have the movie poster in my room 😂
Maaaaan, if you enjoyed this, then you gotta check out War of the Worlds! This is basically a spoof of that with other 50s sci-fi tropes thrown in. Honestly can't even count how many times I saw this growing up.
the General is none other than Rod Stieger! He played Napolean in " Waterloo" a great movie with the largest battle scene in history! Over 16,000 extras including 6,000 Calvery !!! Shot with helicopters to get the full effect. I highly recommend it as money alone would prevent that movie from being made today.
This is my favorite Tim Burton movie, aside from Beetlejuice. It's just so darn funny, and captures the feel of so many 1950's and such B-movies that had A-list actors in them.
This Movie is Insane! Just Non-stop Comedy! 👍
Me and my friend I worked with made his sister go insane at work one night because the only thing we would say to her was the martian voices from this movie. Ack Ack ACK. We decided to have a little fun with her. After about an hour, she lost it yelling at us and then went and sat in the office for the next hour. It was pretty funny. We got her again another night with the 'Dude Wheres My Car' quotes... "Dude What does mine say? Dude" "Sweet What does mine say? Sweet" After that she hated working with us for some reason.
the number of cameos though
38:18 -- I know this song isn't exactly for everyone but you don't have to lose your heads over it!
Same director as Beetlejuice (Tim Burton) and thats Jack Nicholson as the President and Cowboy. Michael Keaton is Beetlejuice and... he's Batman.
I forgot how ridiculous and over-the-top this movie was. Fun watch though.
And hell no, I'm not going to the Martian landing. Aliens never want anything good when they come to Earth. It's always "We're here to destroy all life" or "Our planet is dying and we want all your water" or something.
I find it funny you kerp sayin "is he Beetlejuice?" Cuz there's a moment in Batman when Michael Keaton (who *is* Beetlejuice) has to 'get nuts' to avoid outing himself to the Joker (who is played by Jack Nicholson). I always say, he "let out The Beetlejuice" for a second in that scene.🤷♀️🤷♀️😅
You have to watch Black Dynamite!
If you want to see a movie that doesn't have America as the backdrop for the alien invasion, I suggest Attack the Block. It's pretty good.
The song that kills the aliens is "Indian love call" by Slim Whitman. I've actually used it to clear a bar after 2am. Very effective 😂😂
This movie is too good lol also, bro, just an idea, but surely some of the reactions you lost on YT are worth a revisit, especially since you were blasted through so many of em lol. Maybe make a list of movies you'd love to revisit and let us vote on which ones you start with? I bet lots of people will return for new versions of their favorite reactions from you, just smoke BEFORE hitting record this time lol I'd personally call it the "Out of the Clouds Chronic-les" lol
this movie fked me up as a kid, legit traumatized me
Same, I thought it was gonna be a cheesy, living with aliens type of movie, until they started vaporizing everyone lol
This is my first time on your channel...dude your voice is amazing!
Just found your channel.
You're nuts! Awesome!
Subscribed.
"Is Tom Jones black or white, guys?" 🤣🤣🤣 idk why that was so funny
Probably the same frequency that causes people to have seizures lol
This movie was based off a series of collectable trading cards in a similar vain as Garbage Pale Kids.
Thank you Leo
Mars Attacks is a mind boggling fever dream and I love it.
I don’t believe people when they say they believe me. 😊
What I think is funny is that humans think they can communicate with dogs, cats & aliens...I honestly doubt any communication device could ever truly translate alien speech
not "Yo quiero taco bell" when you saw the chihuahua😂😂😂😂
This and Galaxy Quest are 2 of my favorites from this genre. It was a spoof with a serious plot and comical tone. Not quite as spoofy as a Scary Movie type of spoof because it has its' own plot. We don't get movies like this anymore.
I fuuuucking love this movie, sooo hlad it got on your radar brother
They come in peace, (dove flying into the sky) gets an add for Star Wars with the Sith killing people. 😢🤦♂️
I loved this movie as a kid. It still holds up as a seriously funny sense dark comedy.
Yes ! My favorite Jack Black movie, Tim Burton movie, and Alien movie ! 🎉 I was maybe 6 when I saw this in the early 2000s 😂
Tom Jones is a white man from Wales, UK. He's a white Welshman.
There are 2 movies that helped destroy the Martians. One #Earth vs Flying Saucers, and # invasion of the ASTRO Monster-Godzilla movie. A guy invented a ladies personal alarm, the noise disrupted their brain patters, caused them to crash all their saucers.😅😅
The Thumbnail had me thinking Metro Boomin was dropping beats. For a Jack Nicholson dissing Aliens beef.
Why would any aliens come here?
They have probably watched all our alien invasion movies and know what's coming to them is they try!
Brownsville Station "The Martian Boogie" Great song after this.
They don't make fun stuff like this anymore.
This movie scared me shitless.
Apparently Tom Jones is stacked so huge that he sent Elvira to the ER.
I remember seeing this at the cinema when it was released and it was as spectacular and amazing as Independence Day but even more fun! What a wild ride.
If there are Martians i would definitely plan on being at their arrival and i hope others would too just to be certain we need some Duke Nukem types on stand by
This is a CLASSIC Cult Film
I never would’ve thought you’d react to this! One of my favorite movies I watched as a kid😅❤️ I still jam to “Indian love call” by slim Whitman just in case they do invade🍩
Fun flick! The martians looked like they were having so much fun!!!
Greetings from Pahrump, Nevada!!! First place they landed!!!
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid it was comedy and sci fi at the same time
Fourth Kind next.. true story
Love this movie - just so much fun! Ack ack ack!
This movie scared the sh*t out of me as a kid. Good flick choice.
Sick you did one of my childhood favourites!!😊
Sylvia Sydney (Grandma) was a big star the from the golden age.
Love this one!
If you thought aliens only messed about in America, try looking at Britain’s sci-fi
That was such a funny movie. My late mother was a fan of the movie as well.
Aliens are among us lol ya know the freakishly smart people....those people lmao
Someone compared the alien to Aaron Rodgers in his GB helmet.😂😂😂😂
This is my all time favorite movie I love the camping is perfect
If you've never seen the original Matilda before you have got to react to that dude it's funny as hell and has Danny Devito narrating the movie 😂😂😂
What a great cast
Literally got to Kentucky last night for my job. ere for a week. I'll be sure to look for Lockjaw Kentucky
This movie has everything you could ever want in a movie: Great direction, incredible score, stellar cast, outrageous comedy, good special effects and a plot that makes sense and has a good conclusion, but for the life of me, I just can't watch it more than once.
⭐️ LOVE your reactions! ❤🤩
You should definitely check out Steel from 1997 if you haven't seen it yet. Would be a great first-time watch! Can't wait for more videos! 🥳
Beef, now delivered freshly cook from our farm to your home.. 😂
I don,t think they are coming in peace the Aliens Mr v...
lol i had to rewind...i thought you said alien butts...lol but its was alien bucks
I would be curious to see your two's reaction to "Warrior" with Tom Hardy and Nick Note.
Watching "Mars Attacks!:
Literally no one:
"I hope they come in peace"
-_-
Great reactions, brother. I watch a lot of urs. Keep doing ur thing! Please watch Carrie (1976) Don't bother with the remakes. Lol. Stephen King novel.
You've been awesome
37:50 Instantly Crispy in Vegas
Jack Black was in Waterworld
