This is possibly my favorite comedy of all time.
We used to live in a golden age of cinema and culture.
Edit: This is also the first instance I recall of ever seeing a shared film universe i.e. between trading places and coming to america.

Tiny Desk just had the band on, that wrote and performed 'Soul Glo'.
Also, when their luggage got stolen I died.
They definitely injected a lot of money into that area.

white British boy here! I only say this because I watched this in the 80's and had to to ask my also white parents why that Soul Glow stain on the sofa was funny (i was 7 or 8 (thank you VHS) my parents explained it factually after much embarrassment because it was in front of company) and then they sat me down and explained that people are different but i didn't get it as they were just people with curly hair

American with Irish coloring. When my dad tried to explain being racist I was confused because EVERYONE was darker skinned then me 😅 so why would I misbehave because teacher was black? That was somewhere around 1990 lol. Turns out I'm autistic so I wasn't doing anything consciously misbehave.

Choreography by Paula Abdul who was also Arsenio’s girlfriend. Eddie and Arsenio played some of the barbershop characters and Sexual Chocolate with the preacher.
Eddie as the old Jewish man was brilliant.
    Arsenio is the preacher.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but at 4:30 Paula Abdul coordinated the dance to this. The floor was super slippery, so they had to coat it in some sort of "goo", and it ended up being too sticky, so all the dancers spinning and moving their feet really fast had one helluva time performing the moves.
