Kudos to the drummer and whoever mic’ed and mixed the drums. Came in like a freight train and never stopped. Sounded great.
The drummer did do a great job except the bass drum was wrong but it was close. It's not an easy beat to do throughout the song.
Hell yah !!
I was thinking the same thing. That due rocks
Not an easy song to cover with the very distinctive sound, and the drums are so essential to lay down tight and right. He did a great job.
The mix is sick. Very good recording.
Big applause to the drummer and lead guitarist.
they were spot on
Guitarist channeling Howard Leese . . .
Young folks carrying the torch. Well done.
Never forget the glue. The bassist is doing a great job. Humble, almost invisible, but this kid keeps it together.
But needs to remember he's the glue and not the main "man".
@@paullelys161Yep, guy pluckin’ four strings is the cool guy, not the guy steppin’ into the front. Really distracting.
@@JeffJensen55 Usually I play it in the background, where I can hear but not see, and yes, he did a fine job. But I have watched it and I didn't find him distracting at all. Mallory was absolutely on fire with one of the best guitar-centric songs ever written; I think the bassist could have grown a naval length beard, set it on fire, and performed Dusty Hill 360 spins every half bar and not detracted from Mallory's performance.
I play that song on bass. It's got some tricky parts.
Yeah, it's his job - I know what I'm talking about.
I've been a drummer for 55 years and this drummer was unbelievable barracuda is not an Eazy- Song to play and this drummer kicked it all the way this young man is gonna go Places big time Thank you young man for your performance
Another ex drummer here. I don't think a lot of non-drummers will fully comprehend the technical difficulty of playing that groove correctly. I think he modified the hi-hat pattern (more emphasis on the downbeat, less on the upbeat) but I don't think he made it any easier for himself. I played this song with my band in the early '80s. No comment on whether I played it correctly. 😂
I meant to add - he didn't just play it correctly, but he did it so smoothly and (seemingly) effortlessly. The mark of a true pro.
as a drum teacher ive seen kids with natural talent like that, i myself did it for my first exam back in the day but its all rythm imo the combo's and the fills arn't that hard tbh. But its so very important to time it right or you fck up the entire song because the timing is so important not just for the flow but for the sound aswell.
as drummers we were ment to be the beat maker the rythm nothing else but barracuda showed that drummers are even more important
I too am a long time drummer, & yeah I am super impressed with his playing. Great attack & precision.
@@chrismoody9855 as a *one* time drummer and LONG time ex drummer (still play for my own amusement - I have low standards, haha) these are precisely the words I was looking for. So many drummers on UA-cam flailing around with their sticks, executing fills & cool grooves etc. but unable to match this guy's precision.Believe me, I know what that's about, lol 😐. But this is for me what actual professionalism looks like behind a drum kit. And that's why Sugarfoot Moffett is one of my all-time favorites. Not even a huge MJ fan but I could watch & listen to Sugarfoot play all day. MJ and Heart were clearly worlds apart in genre and I have no idea who Jacquez's influences are but for some reason this comparison came to mind.
The vocalist in the green dress has a huge voice for such a little thing. She nailed it.
Agreed, she has just the right amount of "roughness" in her voice. The other girl, while she performs great , has to "soft" a voice for this song for my liking .
Yes! The other babe's voice is suitable for Blondie!@@matsgustavsson665
@@matsgustavsson665 I had a bit of trouble understanding the second singer. To my perception, she did not articulate very well. Too bad the first singer did not have a bigger part in the song, not to mention standing in the back whereas performing much better.
Ann (73) and Nancy (69) would be proud! Kids have passion AND skill!
I hate to praise one at the expense of another but this was an absolute showcase for the drummer and lead guitar.
I thought the vocals were awesome too. 👌
Agree. The Vocals were the weakest part.
Those girls were pretty good singers, just not the right song for them in my opinion. @@d05wtt
Agreed, let down by the vocals.
@@NB-PSH-UofA Singles!
She was shredding, and she knows it! Awesome! Great job all around!
Thank you!!!
absolutely murderous dude@@mggmusicofficial
I saw Heart play this song over 40 years ago and you did that guitar part PERFECTLY!@@mggmusicofficial
@@mggmusicofficialgreat work Mallory!
@@mggmusicofficialsimply amazing!!! “Carry On Wayward Son”’somehow came up in my feed and then of course this one next. Blown away ….subscribed.
Mallory's smile at the end says it all. Everyone is really good, but Jacquez and Mallory are absolute standouts. Also a word for the professional quality of the filming and directing of the video.
First singer too
Drummer and guitarist are killin it.
That smile at the end says it all! Fantastic performances, that lead guitar rocked!
The young lady on the Strat, wow, seen Heart live in the 70's. You sound just like them! In fact, the song is spot on. Great job.
Mallory's the Princess of Rock Guitar. Good performances all around - Heart's a very tough act to follow, one of the top ten vocalists and one of the top ten guitarists, but the kids nailed it. It's amazing that they can take a group of kids, most of whom won't have played together until a couple weeks before, and be better than 90% of professional bands.
Thank you so much!!!💜
@@mggmusicofficial Thank you for the music. It would be awesome to hear you and Eil do some of the dual lead guitar songs like Skynerd or the Stones.
Couldn't have said it better myself !
This shows you what a good vocalist Ann Wilson is. Kids did a great job!
This is one of several pieces now that I have seen Mallory playing guitar in. She is really progressing and playing more and more complicated songs. Excellent Heart cover here!
Excellent performance by all! But I was blown away by the lead guitar and the rock solid drums!
Awesome to see the guitarist get her day. She always seemed to be a great player in the other performances. Well done band. Going in the Playlist.
Thank you tons!!!❤
@@mggmusicofficialLooked like you were having a blast.
Wonderfully nimble fingers on that strat! Bravo!
Mallory ALWAYS looks like she's in the zone. lol
One of the hallmarks of a musician AND AN ENTERTAINER !! She's on 🔥@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771
This original riff is the product of much experimentation in the early '70s. Jimmy Page and a few others were the instigators.
So great that the music is still getting traction 50 years later.
What an incredible group!!! That lead guitar is on fire!!!
Need more people in this world like Sadie... just having a grand 'ol time rocking out to some music and happy to be there
I'm blown away by this performance. Every single one of you absolutely nailed your part. There is still hope for the future of rock and roll. 😁
That smile at the end could give the sun a run for its money ... Great performance by everyone on one of rock music's greatest songs ❤
Those vocals are tough for even the most seasoned professionals, and you did an AMAZING job. VERY well done! Props to the guitar and drums. Great job all around!
Imo, the vocals are the weakest part of this version. They're very good but lack the range of the original.
@@southernmankeepinghishead1009 trying to match Ann Wilson's vocals is futile, by anyone's measure. But the vocalists here did as good of a job as I've seen in recent memory. When this song was recorded, Ann was in her mid-20s and her voice was in it's prime.
@@hugeinjapan4635 This, exactly. Very few vocalists can match Ann Wilson in her prime, Pat Benetar and Beth Hart and of course Grace Slick being exceptions, as Wilson has amazing range and amazing strength. A lot of very successful female vocalists could not match Daniella's and Memphis' performances here, they just have different strengths.
@@mikewhitfield2994 These two couldn't sing this well, any more than I could as a 56 yr old male. It was detracting from the great job instrumentally by the rest.
Praise should be given for praiseworthiness, not mere effort.
It's auto tuned can't you tell
Being a massive Heart fan you certainly did this song justice! Well done to all of you! 👏👏💚
We need to bring rock back. Hip-hop needs to take a back seat for a few years.
Hip hop needs to go the way of disco - though I like disco.
amen to that!!
@MylesHamlyn, rap crap is not music.
rock never left
@@Madinay FALSE.
Outstanding by everyone, but man the drumming was exceptional. Jealous but I know he has a lot of hard work to get where he is now.
And Mallory, extremely impressed by your finger speed and clean notes. Wow, if you've never played guitar you cannot appreciate the time and effort it takes to get where you are. Wow and wow!
Thank you so much!!!💜
Mallory, you really hit this one, amazing guitar work...spectacular. Your drummer was spot on too.
Thank you so much!!!
That's one of if not the best School of Rock performances I have seen. Top notch all around, no weaknesses.
I agree. I have also thru the years have watched a lot of them, this one is unbelievable.
@@bassb450 It has to be said, that the vocalists could not hit the notes required, They were still good, but not up to the level of the guitar and drum parts.
@@Qingeaton The vocalist on the left was a little weak granted that.
Auto tuned for sure
SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE!!! Thank you tons to everyone who worked on this💜💜
Mallory if you are playing lead on this video you are to be commended on a stellar performance. Best wishes for any future endeavors you choose to perform. Your guitar talent is off the charts. Impressive in every way!
It looks like the shy girl playing rhythm in the other videos has busted out of her shell, Slaying on Lead now and is Taking No Prisoners!! (How you stayed in tune on a Strat with all that Whammy work is bewildering!)
Can't wait to see more videos with you on lead, you are very talented!
If Danielle Haim or Dani Villarreal look in their rear view mirrors, they're gonna see you catching up to them. Well done!
I always love your face enjoying the songs
Now that put a big smile on my face. One of the best covers of this song that I've ever heard! Between the drummer and the lead guitar I can't decide which player to chose. These two along with the first vocalist are the best I've heard anywhere. The other players were also terrific.
Fantastic!
-dave
Old boomer here… Seattle back then was a place where great music sprouted as if by magic. The Wilson girls and Heart were still a decade or so off in future as was Nirvana etc. I don’t know where you guys come from or where you hang your hats but you very much captured that magic in this performance. Thank you!
Just finished watching it for the third time in a row, you re all so awesome. This is my favourite female vocal song and you have done it complete justice, would love it if Ann and Nancy saw this, I'm sure they would be impressed. Think I might have a fourth listen now awesome work all of you. Yeah, special mention Mallory, didn't want to single anyone out, but just have to, you smashed it.
Glad to see kids learning the classics!
The musicians were flawless , they really need a singer !!!
This band could play anywhere!🔥🔥
That was excellent!!!! I'm a 64-year-old rocker. You young people got it going on!!!! Congratulations!✌️❤️
That drummer kicks butt. He's a natural.
THAT WAS FREAKING TIGHT!!!! Outstanding job by everyone. Ive been playing for 50 years and only dream of playing in a band this tight. Drummer kept it in the pocket!
Heart is my favorite band. These kids knocked it out of the park. Great job.
The School of Rock ROCKS❗️❗️❗️😎
Mallory gets some awesome sounds out of that guitar. Some are subtle, some are not. And she knows which sounds should be subtle and which ones should not. That howl and vibrato that she gets out of the harmonics is awesome, I love it!
This is one of the best School Of Rock videos i have watched and i had the surround sound cranked up so loud the walls were vibrating. That was an absolute showcase on the drums and lead guitar. That young lady was shredding!!!!
The drummer was on point, even down to the subtle fills, a proficient rock drummer.
Lead guitar person - YES! A++
Drummer A+
Heart was indeed the best girl rock band to ever exist. Nicely done! 🤟
One of the best rock bands ever, period.
@@wot4me2 No lies detected.
Lead guitarist is really killing it!!
Mallory has come into being since I saw her the last time. She's made a very good guitarist and I'm impressed with how much she's improved. She doesn't appear to be as shy as she was when she was first playing in these videos. With experience comes confidence. Rock on, Mallory!
Everyone did an incredible job but man that drummer knocked it down , It's so awesome to see young people doing these songs !!!!!!
Actually had this Album in 8 Track Tape. 1977. Yep. I'm that old and still love Rock n Roll. Everyone played great. Very tight. True to the original. Keep it up. Look forward to more videos
Right there with ya! 62 and happy to be here.
Nancy would love Mallory! She kicks butt, and the singers!
Great cover! Extra props to the drums and the bass holding it down!
This version was spot on! If I had my eyes closed i would have sworn it was Heart doing this.
One of the best SOR vids I've watched. Killer lead guitar and vocals....everybody - tight! Thanks!
You guys ALL rocked it! (nice job especially to Mallory and Jacquez)
Drummer and lead guitar are excellent. But Ann and Nancy Wilson still are the queens on vocals.
Back in the day, yes, now, age has that penalty, heard them a couple months ago, tired, short stroke vocals, put these kids in across the board, a good feeling to see the young ones with the energy to make it live.
Drummer is fantastic. The whole crew is actually. The mix is spot on, vocals, dynamic ! This one is likely to knock " California Dreamin' " out of the top spot. ! These yung dudes rock !
Sadie, Thanks for your super dancing and playing )
Mallory is a monster!!! Loved her on "Carry On My Wayward Son" but she nailed on this one!! Also Jacquez and the girls singing were great!!
This legendary drum lick was emulated extremely well, and the guitars were also on point.
Great job on an epic song. Special compliments to the very impressive playing of the lead guitarist.
Thank you!!!
Unleash the talent ! All the covers are great ( where is my mind / Toxicity ...) and this one kicks ass too ! Thank you From France.
Sound engineer is the real mvp. I watched a few videos from this channel and dude is solid.
You 're just GREAT, MALLORY!
Thank you so much!!!
Damnnnnnn, girl lead on guitar NAILED it, awesome !!!! Singers were great too !
These kids rock and that young lady on guitar…WOW!
Thank you so much!!!
With crazy good kids like that out there, rock is alive and well.
Great effort at matching Ann Wilson’s vocals. She set a high bar. Good job overall!
Mallory.....BEST EVER!!!!
Thank you!!!!
You looked like you were having a total blast on this one. I'm curious how long between recording and displaying these vids take?@@mggmusicofficial
I can't believe you've got less than 1 million followers! You guys ROCK! 🤟
LIKED because it's a JOY seeing young people realizing what REAL FCKING MUSIC IS!!!!!!!!!!
The guitar opening was spot-on but right before the vocals I was like "Alright, you gonna be able to do them vocals??" and then instantly like "Oh yeah!!!" I love this UA-cam channel. Y'all are amazing!!
Great music, amazing vocals and fantastic band ! ❤
My favorite cover, ever! 🎸Of anything. 🥁Props to every performer and the people behind the scenes. 🎹🎧🎤 🎊
We have a School of Rock here in Houston, TX.. But a big shout out to you West Coasters!!!! You all played one of my most favorite songs to the TEE-TOPP best ever. I can't play anything, yet The Lord has given us people like you who can bring the joy to us all... ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😁
These young performers have so much talent.
vamos, lets rock babyyy uhuulll
Mallory is on fire. Great cover
That put a smile on this old 55 year old Rock and roller here in the younger generation play the classic rock and roll and make it sound is awesome
Of course, nobody can sound like Ann Wilson, a once in a generation talent, but this whole production was a A+. Lead guitar player was world class.
The vocalists nailed it! The drummer was so tight! And the guitarist killed it! So good!
...yes,my thoughts ❤ just Great 👍 👌
Drummer was keeping time for all the bands in a four block radius.
. @martinXY Yes he was. The kinda drummer I'd work with in a heartbeat.
Ann's exact words on this were great musically but the vocalists duo needs to be slapped, straight from the lady herself.
"The vocalists nailed it! " What ???? The one closest to the camera's diction is so poor, the only word you can make out is "Barracuda"
Give the drummer anything that he wants. Amazing.
"When the drummer should be the instructor". Well done all around.
One of the best "school of Rock" performances I have seen! Red haired guitarist and drummer are amazing! Vocalist does greAT TOO!
This was incredible omg
Great vocals, great guitars, full of energy. Just awsome! ❤
what we've really needed this whole time
is a clip, at least just one, of everybody playin in the same frame.
Normally I don't like covers but after discovering these videos about 6-7 months ago the School of Rock is so amazing. They try to keep their covers as close to the originals. This song originally came out in 1977 during my youth. You all did great. I hope Ann & Nancy Wilson have seen and heard this. These kids are so amazing.
These kids are great!!!!! ❤
De Amazonas Brasil para o mundo. Congratulações.
Guitar girl and drummer guy held it together. The smile at the end told the story.
They did a great job. Hearing these girls, who did a fine job, again, really forces one to appreciate the dynamics of Ann Wilson's voice. If you've never seen heart in their prime perform this song, go check it out.
A+
Nice and tight. Very brave on Ann's vocals!
Sweet version of a true classic!
The base, the lead guitar, the drums…. That was so cool! You all rocked that one.
out of the mouths of babes! ROCK ON!!😃🎸
I wish I could have played guitar like that in that age :)
Great job to everyone! You guys killed it.
As a huge heart fan i went into this not expecting too much. But you guys rocked it! Awesome performance. Grr8 to see young rockers playing classics.
Holy fuck! I got goosebumps on those pinch harmonics, then the bass came in! Badass! Loved the guitar harmony as well as the singing!
Excellent, great musicians all round!
