As the Music Director, I may be biased, but I think this is EPIC! Each one of these young people rock in every way. Playing with joy!
Jennifer you are awesome!!!
Jennifer, you should be proud. It makes me smile to see the music I grew up with kept alive. The guy with the blue Les Paul was dam near spot on. I was older than those kids when this came out. I bet most of their parents weren’t even born yet.😎👍
I really loved it. The keyboard player was amazing- I just wish her parts were a little more into the mix. Great job by all!
You ain't biased. This is EPIC!
Agree fully! I got tears in my eyes watching and hearing these young people performing such a great cover! Absolutely brilliant!
Taking nothing away from all of the performances here, but the lead vocalist is absolutely masterclass. This young lady has serious chops, and what's most impressive is that she doesn’t oversing. I really hope we hear a lot more from her in the near future.
ICompletely agree. It’s easy to Oversing this particular song
Lead guitarist and lead vocalist really crushed this amazing version of the cover - whole band was amazing!!
absolutely agree! They were awesome
@@raymondeichler442 God the guitar and vocals were fucking amazing.
Lead guitar has that energy that just absolutely bleeds guitar. They were my favorite to watch.
Lead vocals.... What a powerhouse. Just insane.
Gotcha shout out to the lady on the synth too. nailed the solo and the pockets
I agree, that lead guitar had flames flicking off his fingers!!
There is something really special about kids/teens pouring their energy and talent into this era of classic rock.
A great performance often depends on a great song and this song is a classic. The song brought out the best in the lead singer. She is the best I have heard in a long while. I would compare her to Adele.
up there with randy marsh/lorde's cover of it!!
This group of youngsters really clicked as a band. Probably the best cover of that song that I have ever heard. Special props to the lead guitarist and lead vocalist.
Timing was solid
I agree. The best cover version of this song I've heard to date (and I've heard some pretty good ones). The vocalist and guitars were amazing! It gets an unreserved big thumbs up from me.
The lead vocalist 😱 OMG great work
Not an easy thing to do
really good but this is the best cover ever... ua-cam.com/video/Thw9ZkQ_YNo/v-deo.htmlsi=rnW6S59xaFPT-ckE
almost two years later and i still feel so grateful at how far this production has come ❤ such a turning point in my career. and an honor to work with such talent!
You're absolutely nailing it!
You were too perfect! I fell in love with your performance!
What a voice you have! Absolutely love it! Wow!
Love your voice ! All of the band are great too ! 🌟❤️
Greta you killed this, keep rocking.
That young woman's voice is amazing. I hope to hear more from her
Greta Huges.
Reminds me of Stevie Nicks at times.
perfect song to show her range power and feeling
She was born to sing this song
Totally agree, what a sound
WOW!! OMG what an amazing performance. So much talent in that group. That lead guitarist was OFF THE CHAIN with that spectacular performance. And that lead vocalist...... O M G!!!
MAy i hear hell yeah !!!
Kid with the blue Les Paul gets all over it! There is hope for great music down the road! Well done all of you!
I believe his name is Ely
@@domenicpicard6755 Eli is not coming.....he is HERE!
That kid was just possessed. All over it!
@@oso9809 If I could play as well my life would be complete.
He did ... kind of channeling his inner Leslie West ;)
I have heard several School of Rock Allstar bands cover Carry On by Kansas. This band not only nailed it they knocked it out of the park! Excellent job by everyone. A+
As a huge fan of Kansas…these ladies and gentlemen nail this classic…well done!!
Yeah I agree 100 Percent
Absolutely knocked it out of the park! As another huge fan of Kansas - I can't imagine a better cover of this. This at least rivals the original recorded performance by Kansas.
@@michaelmilberger7066 Love Kansas. Great in concert. The kids were awesome!😎
@@adamentfan4055 😎
Listened to it again. The kid on the drum kit absolutely killed it! Seriously, he laid down every drum fill, triplet/duplet pattern, ride/crash cymbal perfectly! Knocked it out!!
And kept perfect time. Didn't rush it which is very easy with this song.
Absolutely ad the feel of Phil Ehart -- Bravo
They are tight as a band for sure!
The lead guitar and vocals were absolutely stunning! The rest of the band were phenomenal, thanks for such an amazing cover.
Great job by everyone on this. But special props go out to that lead singer. Man, she's got some pipes.
No, the guitarist stole the show.
@@wordragon the Blue Les Paul Guitar was the Bomb !!!
@@KrustyKlown The person playing it makes it great.
And she is young. Imagine as she gets older!
Never mind their age. This was purely and simply a solid performance for anyone of any age. Well done to the whole band and support group that put this together.
Totally agree..!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parabéns a todos. Jovens incriveis!
Wow!
This group was awesome. Headed for success.
The kid wearing the headphones absolutely rocked
None of you were born when that song was first performed, so I have to say... you captured the emotional angst and urgency of the times! Good on you all!
That girl is a brilliant singer, she has a fantastic voice.
Her voice sucks for the song. Better off singing blues.
Absolutely. Very bright future.
The beginning seemed a little low for her, but even that she pulled off well. I never missed Steve Walsh. In fact, at times I preferred her singing to his. Her best definitely was towards the end.
My thought exactly!
And killer eyes - a lethal combo.
Good Lord, that was incredible!! Everyone....guitars (that lead guitar!), bass, drums, piano, organ, production, all were top notch and super tight! And the vocals....the vocals were out of this world! The harmonies were spot on and the lead vocal was exquisite! She truly has a phenomenal voice. Steve Walsh's original vocals on this song, indeed on all of the Kansas repertoire, is so distinctive it truly is what most people react to first when they hear Kansas. This young lady not only recreates that special sound she added her own beautiful vocal styling that really stands out! She reminds me of Michelle Branch... Congratulations to all! I'm sure like a lot of other people I'll be back to listen again and again.
I am 58 years old, this song was one I grew up with. These young people nailed it and I look forward to SoR videos, always joyous to watch kids playing and experiencing the great music that was the soundtrack to my life.
69 here, you were 7 years old...lol
@ronnyparker i see, so it never got played after it came out when I was 7. I didn't hear it played by older siblings and find it and the entire album interesting in my teen years or eventually play it as a late night classic rock dj in my 20's. Sorry i didn't realize you could only appreciate music if it was released when you were a certain age.
The guitar work was just awesome and shot me back to 1976-ish. So much better than the AM car radios sound when it first hit the air. Rock on 1974 Chevelle.....!!
This is one of those rare cases where I think if the original artists heard this other performance, there wouldn't even be words; just a silent standing ovation of absolute approval.
This is a tight and accurate rendition of a classic, popular with the grandparents of these kids! I was their age when this song was released in 1976! Thanks for keeping classic rock alive, and playing it with the all the heart and style that Kansas put into it 46 years ago!
Fad term "literally" entirely unneeded here, but yeah, I was their age then, too.
My first album...yes, album.
special song for those of us who were in Viet Nam and lived the life personified by Henry Winkler's character in the movie "Heroes". . . 30+ years of PTSD . . . great song and great rendition of this classic in part because there really is peace now . . . 50 + years later.
Same. I was 16 in my junior year in high school in '76.
If you were only listening to this, you’d think it was a group of adults who have been playing for 20+ years. Excellent job all around 🤘🏻🤘🏻
That lead singer is amazing. She should be on tour with Kansas.
Greta Hugen. Awesome singer.
This is the best school of rock video on UA-cam. I’ve actually worked for the band Kansas, they were my first real pro work and this is totally incredible.
Mad respect for these rockers! As a high school graduate of the class of 1976, this gives me renewed hope for the youth of America! Awesome job!
Holy smokes can those young ladies sing! And the lead guitarist... Dude, you rock!
I agree! The lead guitarist is amazing!!! Wow! She's so good! Hope we will hear more from her.
Or him
The fact they even picked this song gives me hope. Not to mention that they killed it. Great job. ❤
I saw Kansas live in 1977 and Steve Walsh would get a kick out of hearing these young people do this song. Fantastic talent.
Kerry Livgren would be beaming at this.
The lead singer is incredible. She is a star in the making!
What???? This is so good! Lead guitarist shreds and the singer has great range and control. Congrats to you all...
It's refreshing to see today's youth enjoying half century old music.
Best cover of this song - by a country mile!! They killed it. the dude with the blue gibson was on fire!! And that singer -dang girl!! she can move air like nobody's business!!
Damn. I would buy an album from that lead singer right now! She’s ready.
That lead singer is something special. What a voice. Wow . . .
Hats off to the production crew.
Agree, she has a beautiful voice and could probaly do it good in American Idol!
@@Theoisx I thought the same thing!
Guitarist!
The production crew gets a shout-out! Thanks! You rock!
cant stop playing it, the lead singer is insane!!! I cant get enough of her voice. and everyone else fits so well. im just shocked
For a bunch of kids to take me back to when I was their age. All I can say is thank you.
Although I play guitar, I think what impressed me and truly chilled me to the bone in all the best ways, was watching the lead vocalist sing those awesome lyrics that have grown in their depth of meaning to me in the 45 years since it came out in November of 1976. And hearing this young girl (and her awesome backups who made incredible 4-part!) SING out these lyrics with a conviction far beyond their age and before their time. I think there’s no disputing that if Kerry Livgren were to see this, it would warm his old heart.
Yes Yes Yes and Yes.....but that Kid on the Les Paul? Just crushing it!!!! So So Good - Cheers
Greta is a pleasure to hear, has a strong, clear voice, hope to hear more from her
I just love this. Greta's voice is fantastic and the guitars brilliant.
Everyone in this band is fantastic. The lead singer, Greta, is unreal. One of the best singers I've ever heard. Mind blown 🤯. I hope she continues to pursue music as a career. Man, I wish this existed when I was a kid.
They could have called this "The Kids of Kansas". Played like the originals. GREAT JOB. Thanks for playing the classics.
Love it!
That young lady singing lead clearly has the IT factor. She stood out on the Tuti Fruti video as well. Great stuff!
lead singer here! just wanted to say this comment made my entire week :) thank you so much
Agree!
@@gretahugen You were fantastic! Thanks for commenting!
@@gretahugen You crushed it girl, as did your band mates. No matter where you go, keep singing and music as a big part of your life.
I just watched this 8 times. You don't expect the cover to be so great, but you all added your own dimension to a classic. The band created the solid foundation, and wow, Greta, wow, you took it to another level with so much depth and soul. Thank you for this gift and please keep at it! Start a channel and do covers, see where it leads...
My God. This song played every 10 minutes when I was high school. To say I’ve heard it a few times is beyond crazy. These kids absolutely slayed it. Nicely done.
Gave me the chills. Very rare that any musicians can do that, let alone younger ones. Well done.
Her voice is sublime, so bluesy! She has the perfect voice for this song. Well done young lady! 🔥❤️
OK, these kids are so good! They are just killing this song perfect harmonies, play in the instrumentals to perfection, and the most important thing they’re having a blast! This is such a cool thing to have the school to get these kids. It looks like from every demographic, just jamming, having a blast and learning to be excellent musicians and vocalist! Well done everybody involved.
Lead Vocals is amazing!
They nailed it
They honed their abilities, that's for sure, and their future is brilliant
Keep at it, keep rock alive
School of Rock is always impressive but I gotta say that this was an absolutely superlative rendition. Well done Greta and everyone involved. Les Paul Lead Guitarist has incredible tone, feel and timing - really feeling it. Great to see you are into 2112, one of the greatest prog rock albums of all time. There is obviously so much hard work necessary (student and instructors) to achieve this level of performance - those featured and those behind the scenes are an inspiration to us all!!!
2112 ? Is there a Rush reference I'm missing ?
The guitarist in this video here. My guitar strap has the 2112 logo on it. I love Rush so I figured it was a no-brainer to have them on my strap when I saw that at a shop.
Also thanks for the kind words J H!
@@grindstone25 Ah cool ! nice catch.
@@grindstone25 Your playing that lead was absolute bad ass! I grew up with this song and I'm over 60.... very well done bro!
Faultless performance by all, amazing vocals. That guitar player has the most satisfying smile when he gets going, well done to all
I've been a musician for 55 years, who plays several instruments, and has played every genre of music. These young musicians did a Terrific Job. Definitely EPIC! KUDOS to all of them.
Drummer held it down!!! Great performances from everyone !!!
I am 62 and am in awe of these young people......not only to have become such great musicians at this age but to even know, and have found this old classic! I swear this woman does better on lead vocals than the lead singer from Kansas!!!!!!
I'm 43 and I agree that this Young Lady on Vocals has a Voice like an Angel and potentially out does the original performance & its just Simply Amazing how all of the band for that matter is beyond spot on. Every single song these kids play just blows me away.
I'm assuming, though possibly wrongly but that you may not be a Tool fan or even know who they are, but just to educate you on Tool a little bit.
By most Modern Rock or just Rock Fans period who know who they are and have any clue what real music is by far they are considered light years beyond every and all bands ever. Bar None.
Their writing and performances are considered not only light years above and beyond every band who's ever existed for thousands of reasons from intricacies of song writing in ways its hard to explain because every song they write is pieced together like Scientists piecing together a science experiment much like a heavier version of Rush, mixed with the Beauty & Pop Sensiblity of the Beatles & Led Zeppelin, with the edge of Black Sabath, the Rawness of The Rolling Stones, the Creativeness of Queen and the Ability to Understand and Explain the Human Condition like Pink Floyd, with a little touch of every greatest Band from the 50s, 60s,70s,80,s & 90s. Who's only Modern Worthy Bands to be in the same sentence as them would be bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Sound Garden & Audioslave.
They're in a League all their own and I've literally never heard a worthy cover of any of their songs by anyone ever famous or not that i can think of. I honestly can't think of anyone who's actually ever even attempted it come to think of it and these kids have not only covered Tool in a way multiple times that does Tool justice by quite possibly having almost matched them in such Stellar Performances. It's something difficult to put into words how amazing they covered their songs which are some of the most Intricate and amazing songs ever written.
I hope you'll give them a listen and see in it what so many Lovers of the Greatest have found in them.
Also the lead Singer of Tool is a Renosance Man, a modern day Leonardo DaVinci of sorts involved in so many amazing projects and other bands like (A Perfect Circle) which in my opinion is a less Edgy and more Beautifully Emotional Version of a Similar Need to take what's possible in amazing music to its extremes and beyond.
This is a really difficult song to play. The guitarists, bass, and keyboards nailed it. The vocals were spot on too. Great job kids!
Were they really playing...Sounded awful dam good to be a cover of the music...
What a great, and faithful, recreation of a fantastic classic rock piece. It's heartwarming to see young people discovering and performing music from the 70's. Loved this.
Every once in a while I watch this video to remind myself that everywhere I go, the kids wanna rock.
The female Lead Singer needs a contract ASAP.... I need more NOW!
So proud to have been a part of this!!! ❤️❤️
Great job!
so proud to have played with you mal ❤️❤️❤️
Me too! You were all amazing!!
I grew up in this era and had this Kansas album…these kids absolutely ROCK! Great job!
Spectacular. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Whoever is teaching these kids is going God’s work. Rock and roll is in good hands.
Every one of this children nailed it and earned their A+ the young female singer did a awesome job with superb timing as well as the rest of the band awesome job young people keep up the great work playing classic Rock that's older then you!! Godbless them all and wishing you a prosperous future!
EXCELLENT !!These kids do not disappoint ! Love watching and hearing these classic songs redone by todays youth. THANK YOU!
It's absolutely great to see and hear young musicians still playing songs like this and performing so phenomenally. ❤
Bravo to these kids , Bravo , what a bunch of talented students . It sure is a hell of a lot better than being on the streets . You guys are tight and all your players are first class . That is an extremely difficult song to play , timing is difficult but you all pulled it off remarkably well . Love your singers . Bravo , Bravo !!! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Totally shocked at what I just saw & heard. That was awesome. Great singing by Greta. Not an easy song to sing. She’s going places!!! Fantastic rock voice. Great lead guitar & keyboards as well. Well done everyone. Brought a tear to my eye to hear this generation sing & play this classic masterpiece of the 1970’s!
I NEED more Greta. I can't stop watching this video. Which is insane, because even though I Love this song, I can't recall seeing the Originals video, don't go out of my way to hear the song, even though I have listened to it for decades.
Would like to see more of the Female Keyboard and Blue Guitar. And who is the backup singer with the long hair ?
SO FREAKING GOOD.
WOW! That blew me away. That has to be one of the best renditions of that song I’ve ever heard. Everyone was spot on.
I've watched this about, IDK, 50+ times. I like it better than the original. Lead guitar can shred and the lead vocals were amazing, really everything was fantastic.
Wouldn't have this one without the original!! Kansas broke new ground back in the 70's..I was there for it.
As a teenager in the seventies, I saw them play this live three times. Very few club bands would try to tackle this song but you kids nailed it. Saw Steve Walsh play one show with a cast on one wrist. Thanks for breathing new life into this classic.
I love seeing kids performing music that, at this point, was written by their grand-parent :) Awesome work... this is one of the greatest rock tunes ever written... they did it well.
THAT was EPIC, just EPIC, there are literally no words to describe just how good this was, everyone involved should feel an astronomical sense of achievement the lead guitarist has some serious skills and the vocal control and range of the lead singer is crazy impressive
I could literally listen to this all day.
The power, tone and clarity of the lead singer blew me away. I definitely want to follow what she does. The rest of the band was also very tight and sounded great. Fantastic talent.
Really? I thought it was Just Another Typical American Voice. Clearly limited on her range, competent enough, but doing nothing out of the ordinary stuff that *every* singer in the US does these days. Maybe I'm being unfair for expecting something beyond average?
@@iatsd Well, I went back and watched the video again. I’ve got to say I’m sticking to my guns on this one. I still maintain that her power, clarity and tone are impressive to me and I certainly know that most people (female or not; American or not) do not sound as good as she does to me. I listen to a fair amount of music and when a voice gets my attention in a positive way, then it’s usually because there’s a good level of quality behind it. I wouldn't say I'm qualified to compare her voice to someone like Laura Fabian (or any other elite level vocalist) and honestly, I'm not interested in doing so. I just really liked what I heard. Perhaps our ears and minds interpret things differently. I’m glad mine interpret things the way they do.
@@iatsd I have heard Kansas and many other covers of this song since it was first released. This was a very good cover, to give credit where due. However, I must agree that there were certain passages in the vocals where the lead did not have the range, mostly on the upper end, to give a totally accurate rendition of the Kansas sound. Again, I must give credit where due to the entire band and must say that I did enjoy this piece!
@@slithytoaves8637 Nah, she nailed it.
@@iatsd It is possible not to criticize a teenager on a public form, I’m sure. She is a lovely and talented girl with a great voice.
I saw Kansas perform this song in the '70's and this cover by these wonderful young musicians brought tears to my eyes. Amazing!
fantastic job guys the young woman singing the lead vocals has a set of pipes
This is just incredible. Everyone did an amazing job, but the lead singer and the lead guitarist kicked major ass. Well done all!!!!! Now that I've listened to a dozen or so performances of these kids, it just hit me that Greta's voice would be perfect for Maiden's Wasted Years. Add it to the list teach.
That was absolutely bloody brilliant Students. You can have the day off school tomorrow. & I'm gonna watch it again & again
I saw Kansas three times in my life and they were one of the tightest bands ever. A group of musicians that will forever be hard to be matched. So it’s nice to see this group of young musicians tackle one of their great hits. 🐢
Great Musicianship. Lead Guitar and Vocals were spot on
That girl on the keyboards absolutely was awesome on the keyboard lead.
From the singing to the instrumental these guy's knocked it out of the park, outstanding performance by all!!!
The future of Rock and Roll is in fantastic shape, these young folks are very incouraging to me. As I'm an older rocker from WAY back, music 🎶 is in good hands 👐 The young lady is simply Wailing 😮!! OMG--

Her name is Greta, very promising, only 16. She kinda reminds me of a young Lily Collins. Dazzling bright smile, confident, impressive !!
@@TW-sy6df I'm not sure who she reminds me of voice wise. Although the power rock ballad is obviously her forte. In looks she reminds me very much of Emilia Clarke. A killer combination in my eyes.
Exellent cover of a song witch never "dies" . Real rock band.
Unreal, instruments sound close to original! Nice vocals as well!
Greta has a voice beyond her years and should be able to have a career with it either in musical theater, education, or recording. I'd kill to hear her take on some Pat Benatar.
I so agree.
Or Linda Ronstadt.
I was 6 years old when this song came out, but my parents were both way into rock music, and I grew up listening to bands like Kansas, America, the Eagles, Heart and more. I think this group should try a YES song. Something tells me they would play it very well.⭐⭐⭐
Everybody is shredding with style, the band is super-tight on execution, and the vocals are amazing -- from the lead to the harmonies. Well done, from a guy who bought the vinyl when it came out 46 years ago.
Yes, the vocals set this one apart. I still have their first five "albums" in my vinyl collection, starting in 74' (RIP Robbie Steinhardt).
The lead voice is amazing!!!
