The French drink red wine in moderation and have some of the lowest rates of heart disease in the world. They begin in adolescence. Red wine helps to keep their blood sugars low which, in turn, helps to stabilize insulin levels. I wear a CGM (continuous glucose monitor). When I drink a couple glasses of red wine with dinner, my glucose levels do not spike as much as they do without the wine, and.... my glucose stays low throughout the night during sleep. Not sure if this is good or bad but my glucose levels, and therefore my insulin, are a little lower with a small amount of red wine consumed. And let me qualify what I mean by a "small amount". I'm talking about 1-2 5oz glasses of red wine. One whole bottle typically has 25 oz of wine. Oh yeah, I have been Ketovore for 10 months and feel great. John, I'd love to get your insight on this.
@@Carnivoreteacher1965 John, I'd really like to know what you think about this aspect of red wine consumption. Of course the body doesn't need wine but can a little be helpful.... in any capacity?
@@BillyBoy66 You said it right there, Billy. We do not need red wine for nutrition. I personally don't want the toxin aspect of the alcohol, and I don't want the extra sugar it's giving me, as little as it is. Also, the tannins are not healthy for me. When I have had red wine int he past, I found out that the tannins caused me to feel like I had the flu. I know there are studies about the benefits of red wine on the heart. Many people will use that study as an excuse to drink a glass every day. I believe that the many other negative things about alcohol and tannins and sugars out weigh the supposed positive effects they say red wine gives to the body. If you like red wine, enjoy a glass moderately, every once and a while as long as you don't have a problem with the alcohol. Enjoy it as long as it does not cause you any negative effects. Free will and informed consent. Just have ALL of the knowledge about it, not just the study that says its good for your heart.
@@Carnivoreteacher1965 Well, you're talking to someone who has been diagnosed with heart disease and so maybe I'm a little biased. But I also could be wrong. I agree with you mostly but multiple studies have shown that light consumption of red wine is beneficial to the heart, and, for someone in my condition, the positives outweigh the negatives. But again, I could be wrong.

Wow! Interesting. I wonder if there is something to that in our family, because I am very sensitive to alcohol too. I get an instant headache, and if I drink red wine, the tannins make me feel like I have the flu. I get awful body aches for a while.
