David Dastmalchian is one of those character actors who instantly improves everything he's in once he shows up, so him getting a chance at a lead role is long overdue and well deserved.

The skeptic guy was supposed to be based on a real guy who was a popular skeptic in late night circles back in the 70s and 80s, The Amazing (James) Randi. I thought they leaned far too much into the curmudgeon thing, though. He was snarky and a bit condescending at times, but James was a lot of fun, too. It's all Madeline (aka Minnie). When Lily, possessed, turns to Jack and says, "Don't be a fool", you can see Madeline's face briefly flash on the back of her head. Even Jack says that towards the end of that segment, Lily started to sound like Madeline. Everything that happens is Madeline's revenge on Jack.

When Lilly is possessed there's a couple of moments, when she talks to Jack in a way as if she knew him very closely. Add to that, his wife's face appearing on Lilly during that scene and the ending scene, where the scene with his wife cuts into him stabbing the girl. So all of this got me thinking, her wife's spirit is the one who possessed Lilly, which would be quite ironic, because in a strange way, that would mean his wife is the one, who brought him his fame back

Sorry to get a little political with the answer but if Trump wins we're gonna see a lot of people besides just P Diddy getting thrown in jail for life lol, Jay Z, John Legend, Oprah, Ellen Degenneres, Tom Hanks, just to name a few people that are on some certain island flight logs😬

The actor that played the skeptic is the same actor that played Bane in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. He was the guy that was “possessed” by Agent Smith in the real world.
Also, The Grove really exists, called The Bohemian Grove. Extremely powerful people, including presidents, other countries rulers, giants of industry, etc. all congregate there. No recording is permitted in there but someone did sneak in and take video one year of a ritual that they do in front of this giant statue. When they aren’t holding whatever ritual that is, they all break off into their respective fields of expertise and it’s thought that they essentially talk about the future of the world and where they want to take it. What’s scary is that the people who attend have the actual power to enact whatever plans they come up with. Especially if they all work together.

Re: "Can we please get that woman a Neilson viewing diary?"
The Neilson Ratings, i.e. the famous "a show's ratings," were tabulated by (among other things) a viewing diary filled out by households chosen (I don't remember how) to be one of the Statistical Viewers of broadcast TV shows. The households selected would fill out their own demographic info (age, sex, race, etc), and would then write in the viewing diary each show they watched and for how long they watched it. They'd do this for the time period of the survey (I ~think~ a month...?).
When I was in my late teens, I visited some older relatives in another state, across the country from mine. By random chance, these relatives were one if the monitoring households for that time period. There was a problem, though -- this was in the earlier days of cable TV, and they were having ongoing trouble with their connection; only one channel would play. As a result, they didn't watch much TV at all during that period... maybe the news, and that was it.
Well, I was frequently bored, and the Summer Olympics were on, so I watched the Olympics, whenever I wasn't doing anything else. As a result, I was given the task of filling out the viewing diary, while I was there. And it was just the Olympics. 😁
I don't know if one household had enough statistical weight to skew the ratings for that period, but my relatives' viewing diary definitely didn't record what the accurate viewing habits would've been if the cable connection hadn't been jacked up for so long.

I love horror movies as a child. But horror movies nowadays seems to flop and lack something. Late night with the Devil gave me tingles while watching it! It was so genius and well-made.

The voice in the intro belongs to actor Michael Ironside who has has a long and very eclectic career with such roles in V and Total Recall among many others

The 2 male guests are not so vague references to the magician Uri Gellar who is kind of known as a con man and James Randi who had or has a 1 million dollar bounty for proof of real supernatural powers. Great video!!

I’m fairly certain this was inspired by an actual late night show where they went on a paranormal investigation and during the ghost hunt actual paranormal activity happened but they came out “admitting” that is was all a hoax. There were real life repercussions tho they indeed did offend many viewers in fact and the host or director suffered such a traumatic event from the production anyways short story long the whole show was cancelled not long after unable to recover.

Thank you so much for reviewing this movie I love watching you guys's reviews and it was so much fun to watch this with you. The AI pictures was a nod to how the devil is even taking over in this genre of film the fact that there were 3 of them, and that the whole movie is low-key about hypno-control the programing we watch has on us. Three is a number used in many rituals. Just my thoughts 🎉🎉🎉🎉 love hanging with you and appreciate all the effort you put in.

So I just got to it. And uh... some of the end parts is very much freaking me tf out. Like, I just went through a coma in February. I don't really remember it or immediately afterward very well. But the way the brain just flashes thing to thing when you're experiencing high fever nightmares whilst intubated and on propofol for over 2½weeks made me have mainly just horror movie nightmares. A few memories of my best memories that I didn't realize were my best memories of my life (til then). This hit a lot of those. Like I was a religious Carson watcher as a very young child. My mom would insist that I needed an exorcism when I found a lot of the coma process just... like character changing. I have felt like an alien in my Joie-suit since I regained cognition.

Thought it was a pretty good movie. The producers must've seen the infamous 1992 broadcast of Ghostwatch on the BBC before they made this.

I grew up watching Carson. He was intelligent, funny, and could play the crowd. And classy, always. Feel sorry for anyone that followed him, you would never upstage that act. Ever.

I thought it was a very interesting take on the found footage genre and I like the pacing, the slower build up with some nice moments to increase the tension. David dastmalchian is fantastic in this role.

Yes, The Grove exists (or at least existed - I think it still does). German chancellor Helmuth Schmidt was there in 1979. Although supporter of the democratic party, he was invited to the "Bohemian Grove" or "Grovetime" once. Usually only the rich republican elite, business and finance leaders (200 of the latter at the time) were allowed. Women, liberals and press had no access, whatsoever. The ritual in front of the “Altar of the Owl” - the guardian goddess of the “Bohemians” - consisted of burning the everyday worries of the wealthy bosses who were wrapped in red hooded cloaks. These worries were symbolized by a paper-mâché corpse in a coffin. Crazy stuff...

As someone who hates the real life skeptic the character in the movie was based on, James Randi, it was particularly cathartic watching a character inspired by him suffer like that.
Can we make all skeptics melt please?
