I both agree and disagree. I feel like a lot of people were interested in watching this movie BECAUSE they knew it was about a vampire ballerina child. If they kept it vague, I'm not sure the basic premise would have garnered much of an audience. Plus, knowing what she is kinda tells you that this movie is gonna be campy as hell, so you know the tone going in. Without it, people might have watched this thinking it was going to be much more serious and scary than it actually was, thus creating bad reviews from the general audience

Well, every reaction has done the same with using the vampire Abigail image in the thumbnails and even saying “vampire ballerina” in their titles lol. It’s a shame.
The problem is that if you only use before-the-twist parts of the movie for marketing, it's going to look like an action thriller kidnapping/heist movie and people looking for that are the ones who are going to be in the theater when you deliver a campy horror comedy instead. You risk bad WoM by pulling a bait & switch on your audience.
Curious, in "The Cabin in the Woods" a little ballerina girl is shown as one of the creatures from the facility. She had a big mouth full of several circular rows of teeth instead of a face.
yeah i had that thought to :) there are quite a few horror movies around dancers but i do feel abigail was kinda pulled from the cabin in the woods reference - very meta
It's not pills, it's candy lol the amount of times pills were mentioned in this reaction, she's clean. When people go to rehab they're encouraged to eat candy whenever they have an urge to use
I think Dan Stevens character was always a cold bastard. He didn’t “turn” evil; he was always a self-centered jerk who made a better villain than he did a cop. So when he got the powers of vampirism, that was him totally throwing off any reins of humanity and embracing the ultimate power of control. Another fun reaction you guys; I always click on them when I see them!
I think Abigail did not kill Joey because Joey was the only one who was kind and compassionate with Abigail. With the pinky promises also. I saw a connection there.
Despite Joey did most damage to Abigail as a vampire, Abigail almost did not attack Joey. It is how one treats her as a child that counts. This is why she focused mostly on Frank. I also think Abigail revealed her true identity initially to protect Joey because Joey kept her promise. Abigail likely also joined the last fight because of Joey, otherwise she could easily hide or escape.
The way I understood the rules was that the bite “primes” you so to speak, and now there’s two paths to become a vampire. You get autonomy if you drink the blood. I think there’s some kind of ritual that has to be completed to make someone your puppet. I think that’s the reason Sammy turned when Abigail started playing the record. Once you’re turned, I think you’re a vampire permanently, but Joey wasn’t completely turned yet. As for Frank, they sprinkle the seeds of his personality throughout the movie. Joey says he likes to be in control in her read of everyone. When Abigail is in the cage, she says that Frank got addicted to power and control when he started dipping his feet into the mob business. He lets Giancarlo bite him, but as someone who wants to be in control, why split the empire with someone when you can run it and have a puppet as your enforcer? If you look at Joey and Frank, they’re two sides of the same coin. Frank left his family to further his power and influence. Joey lost her son because of her addiction, but she is trying to get back to him. They both aren’t involved with their kids’ lives but for very different reasons. Abigail clearly wants her father to be more involved in her life. Throughout the movie, the differences between Joey and Frank are highlighted for Abigail. She would already know their stories but the way both characters interact with her is also drastically different. I believe Abigail was willing to make that deal with Joey because she actually was weakened by Frank’s surprise attack, but also because Abigail hates Frank. You can really see this when Frank knocks Peter off the banister. When it cuts back to Abigail, it’s one of the only times she looks angry/hateful instead of more playful while she chases everyone around. Much like her own father, Frank has set his family aside to further his own interests. Abigail’s options are to face Frank alone and potentially lose to the person who represents everything she hates or to team up with to Joey to kill him. She’d have to let Joey go then, however, at least she’d be a letting a mother go back to her child. As much of a monster as Abigail is, I believe this is one of the only bits of humanity that remains.
I think the vamp rules were pretty clear. If the vamp feeds you, you have control. Also turn faster. If not it takes longer and you can be a puppet. It was consistent by who got bit and how.
This little girl is a LEGEND! She has thr most adorable STRONG Irish accent , don’t understand how she can just make it go away when acting! Annnd Katherine from “Paranormal Activity 4” is HILARIOUS! Awesome awesome cast!
She’s talented but cone on.”legend” is VERY overused online alit nowadays. Unless you’re just being expressive it’s fine. This girl is young and has a long career ahead of her..
As someone who started watching “A Discovery of Witches” about a month ago who had already watched this before hand I can say that Matthew Goode makes an EXCELLENT vampire lol 😂
for me Kathryn Newton stole the show: the caracther, the head moment, the onions moment, “bodies! bodies in the pool!”, the scene dancing when she is a vampire… amazing
The girl playing Abigail, is Alisha Weir. She was the lead from the Matilda film that was on Netflix in 2022. Also, I think the original title for the film was “Dracula’s Daughter” outright naming Abigail’s dad. This version leaves it up to you to decide.
You are all most right, Alisha is a dancer but she has never done ballet before, she had a few months of rehearsals before the started doing the movie.
I didn’t realize how good of an actor Kevin Durand is. I first saw him as an evil sadistic a-hole in Netflix’s Locke and Key, which I highly recommend. Then I likable sheriff in Dark Was the Night and a big lovable buffoon in this one
One of my FAVORITES from this year for sure. Loved this one. Way too fun, watched it a handful of times already. Adding to the horror list in the yearly watches
Not only my favorite horror film of the year, but probably my favorite of the recent Universal Horror remakes. Also, wow is Matthew Goode great as Dracula for what little time he was given

The only down side to this movie, was they spoiled it with the trailer and poster. Would have been such a great reveal/twist if not for that. But other than that, great movie.
I think they wanted the audience to know she was a vampire so we could be impressed by how well the girl pretended to be human and was able to fool all of them until she revealed herself.
I think it would’ve been nice if I hadn’t know, but otherwise I don’t think I would’ve been interested since I wanted to see what they did with the ballerina vampire concept.
I think going into this movie without seeing the trailer is the smartest way to do it because then it makes the reveil that Abigail is the vampire so much more fun as well. The actress of Abigail is 13 years old and she plays Matilda in the new musical Matilda movie that came out last year also she is not a ballet dancer they tought her how to do it for this movie. I think she is such a talented actress and I look forward to seeing what else she can do in the future. I love this movie because they have gone back to their roots with this one and it is just like Ready Or Not which was my first movie I saw from these directors. It's a good mix between horror/action/comedy and yes to be clear this movie and Ready Or Not are apart of the same universe. It's cool that they talk about the Rat Pack which was Frank Sinatra's band before he went off on his own. This movie is based off the 1936 movie Dracula's daughter so yes Abigail is Dracula's daughter here and they hint on it when he says Count when asked who he is haha. Rip Angus Coloud and it's nice that they give him a tribute at the end of the movie. Love all the actors here and it was just a good fun movie in my opinion. Grate reaction guys glad you did this one.
Swan Lake was the theme for the 1930 Dracula with Bela Lugosi. Abigail says "It takes a long time to learn how to do the cool s**T!" That includes making puppets
Wait, so that's why the little girl is familiar when I watched this movie last weekend. I love the recent Matilda the musical movie. I would love to see you guys react to Matilda, it was a blast!
Just found out that one of Giancarlo Esposito first appearance was the guy that got upset when someone stepped on his sneaker in the movie Do The Right Thing. Totally unrecognizable lol
I've been waiting for this reaction for a while now. I've seen other channel's reaction to this movie. I remembered the actress who played Abigail is Matilda from Matilda the Musical, Joey is Sam from Scream, RIP Angus Cloud, I forgot about Blobman from Xmen Origins. Also, had a crush on Matthew Goode since Chasing Liberty & Leap Year.
I was cracking up with the intro- Tiny Dancer/ Tony Danza. Lol. There was another song like that by the band CCR- Bad Moon On The Rise/ where someone thought it said- There’s a bathroom on the Right. lol. So funny. I enjoyed the video. You folks have a good group in these reactions. We enjoy them.
Alisha is a 14 year old Irish actress (she actually turns 15 at the 26 of September) but she was only 13 when the where making Abigail. And 11 - 12 years old in Matilda the musical, and she turned 13 years old while the where making Wicked little letters.
man i love this movie and ready or not i hope there’s gonna at least be a crossover movie between the two main characters or at least another movie to build up this Monsterverse and have an endgame-esque ending to the universe
The opening music for ABIGAIL is Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, which was also the opening music to Universal Studio's first talking horror film, 1931's DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi. Now I have seen references to this being based on Universal Studios 1936 DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. This is true in name only. DRACULA'S DAUGHTER bears absolutely no resemblance to the plot in ABIGAIL. The only similarity is that her father is possibly/probably Dracula so she is the daughter of Dracula. After that there is absolutely zero resemblance. In DRACULA'S DAUGHTER, the titular character was trying to reverse her vampirism and felt self-loathing. Now that sounds nothing like Abigail. 😀
When I found out that Abigail was the same girl who played Matilda in that netflix remake I was gagged. Going from Matilda to this? that was a bigger turn than Jojo Siwa (lol) And she really was great in this. as the kids would say, she ate.

Oh yeah! That's one of my favs
Oiled sax man was my gay awakening.
Yes!!! Oh and I would love a reaction to Renfield!!
THOU SHAAAALL NOOOOOT KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILL
The only thing that was driving me crazy was calling the candy drugs. A lot of people who are staying off drugs use candy to satiate the cravings.
Lol it is pretty surprising. Only reactions that don't seem to realize that.
Now I wonder, from all the candy I eat, what addiction I'm trying to recover from 😅
And they spell it out for the audience in the movie by 2 characters.
@@alexp601 sugar.
It's not pills, it's candy lol the amount of times pills were mentioned in this reaction, she's clean. When people go to rehab they're encouraged to eat candy whenever they have an urge to use
The little girl playing Abigail played Matilda in the movie musical adaptation and shes super talented
She looked so familiar!!
"she keep popping pills" ...... What!? 😂
Every time i see the part when Kevin Durant tackles Abigail while she was flying, i lmfao. Also "Sammy, those are F--kin onions!" 🤣
The girl playing Abigail did a phenomenal job!!
Abigail (2024) is among my top 3 favorite movies of 2024.
The Abigail actress is Ireland's' latest high profile acting export.
Yesssss RonJoxy’s back!!! Love our Drippy-Moist duo ❤❤
OMG! You're right! I watched the show also and couldn't figure out where I knew him from...this movie here!😅
for me Kathryn Newton stole the show: the caracther, the head moment, the onions moment, “bodies! bodies in the pool!”, the scene dancing when she is a vampire… amazing
The actress who plays abigail also was matilda is the musical
The girl playing Abigail, is Alisha Weir. She was the lead from the Matilda film that was on Netflix in 2022.
Also, I think the original title for the film was “Dracula’s Daughter” outright naming Abigail’s dad. This version leaves it up to you to decide.
Oh Matilda, what happened to you!!! Alisha is just such a talented actress, I hope she has the career she deserves.
melissa barrera covered in blood is my favorite genre
Yeah pretty to look at shame the lack of talent
First made famous by the original Rec chick 😅 (I'm sure there are earlier examples)
@@joshr9812 that’s a bold lie lol
@@joshr9812 watch Vida, she’s absolutely fantastic in that
Alisha is not a real dancer btw. She trained in ballet for the role
Then I likable sheriff in Dark Was the Night and a big lovable buffoon in this one
you should watch The Strain. its a really fantastic show that he acts his pants off in.
Ron Joxy is back!!! One of my fave duos on this channel! 😂❤
Love itttt
One of my FAVORITES from this year for sure. Loved this one. Way too fun, watched it a handful of times already. Adding to the horror list in the yearly watches
Oh i fucking love this movie, it’s in my top 3 of the year Dan Stevens and Melissa Barrera are the MVP’s
Not only my favorite horror film of the year, but probably my favorite of the recent Universal Horror remakes.
Also, wow is Matthew Goode great as Dracula for what little time he was given
Abigail Will always be my little princess 💞
I love when John and Roxy collab, they seem like the cool chill stoners from my highschool. Would love to watch a movie with them!
😊
Can't figure out the appeal of watching a movie with two people who can't follow along or comprehend what they're seeing and hearing. But to each their own.
@@gardenia3044 because you probably have a social disability, to each their own though

@@roxystriarignore them. You're awesome!!
@@roxystriarlove you Rox but it does come off like you aren’t immersed in the movie sometimes. I know you love filmmaking but analyzing the movie AS it’s happening can sometimes take you out of it & make you miss things. Just my perception, whirlfriend for life 💚💙
@@patr1ckk3ll3yeveryone watches movies differently. How I watch them is how I enjoy them. It’s strange to try and make people see things the way you want them to. I appreciate your love, but I’d prefer your respect and appreciation of individualism.
@@roxystriar I completely get that, it’s not about trying to change anyone like I said it’s just how it comes off to me as a viewer at times. Perception isn’t always reality 🤷🏾♂️. Reacting is kind of like an art form in itself though & as someone who watches a lot of reactors I notice they do grow in their content and adapt to viewing movies on film, knowing what intrusive thoughts to say out loud etc lol. I’ve been watching you since 2013 & I do because I like you lol I wouldn’t want to change you as person at all I’m just talking about reactions as content.
Yesss, been waiting for more Ron Joxy 🎉🎉🎉
Sometimes after these reactions it makes you question if people even watched the movie lol Roxy’s lack of understanding of the candy and how vampires turned is kinda embarrassing
Yes, everyone should be an expert on the film they're currently watching and are not allowed to misinterpret, mishear, or misunderstand ANYTHING. It must be great that this never ever happens with you when you watch a film, and you understand everything 100% at all times. Also, I guess everyone is meant to be an expert on drug use and addiction recovery.
@@alexp601 casual fans yes but when your job is a reaction channel then you’re held to a different standard. We’re not taking about some mind blowing twist, you could of half paid attention to know those details. My kid knew both of those things without explanation
@alexp601 we are expected to have a paper and pen asap. Don't look down tho cuz you'll miss it and it you miss ONE THING you're not actually watching. But you have to know everything so make sure you write it down!! But don't look down!!

I 100% agree with you because it’s not just this movie it’s other movies as well. Especially when they question something that was literally SAID 30 secs ago. It’s usually her too that has this issue. Like as a reactor you are supposed to discuss the movie yes but it seems like they do it so much to the point they miss key details or just completely ignore the info
What an awesome movie. Got the chance to meet Melissa Barrera at Horrorhound last weekend and she’s such a sweet person.
Just in time for my work shift, let’s go Roxy and John❤ love this movie 😂🎉
❤❤
Doing "The Purge" Jumpscare on John was amazing
It's horror Thursday, baby!!! Abigail is a great vampire flick, and Melissa Barerra is my new final girl. Come back soon, Tara.
Angus was listening to Bay Area (Oakland)music. I love that he was able to play Cali music.
Whenever I think of Cali Bay I always think of E40- he’s a legend here
I work in a rehab facility they crave sugar when detoxing bc sugar triggers Dopamine release in the brain, though in much smaller quantities than addictive dr★gs..High sugar foods feel much more rewarding & pleasureable than other more nutritious foods, making them harder to say no to and more tempting to people whose dopamine reward networks have been compromised by addiction
Alisha (Abigail's actress) learned ballet for the role and performed her own stunts :D
34:50 I actually read that she didn’t know how to do ballet until she got this role and learned it
I saw an interview with her where she said that very thing. She took ballet lessons for this role. That little girl is an AMAZING actor!!! 👏👏👏👏👍
Kevin Durand was fantastic in The Strain!!! 👏👏👏👏👍
it’s actually candy lol not drugs .. like replacing nicotine with gum .. also the whole puppet thing is just a power vampires can have .. it doesn’t matter who turns who they all can compell or mind control with enough experience .. and yes if u haven’t fully turned and your sire dies the vampirism doesn’t happen !! joey was just pretending to try to kill frank :) katherine took long to turn cuz she wasn’t fed any blood right away .. frank turned as soon as he did cuz he was fed .. i love vampires, so much fun lore .. great reaction from you two !! i love this movie
Man, I really wish I hadn't seen the trailer before watching the movie. Really spoiled the twist the beginning sets up.
the little girl that played abigail played matilda in the new netflix matilda musical movie thing
Shejects should watch Scream Queens! They would love it!!! ❤❤
Green + Jean Overalls? Hell yeah Roxy!
Thanks!
@@GreatOutdoors1 more likely it was because how else do you advertise this? bunch of people kidnap a kid?
I think it would’ve been nice if I hadn’t know, but otherwise I don’t think I would’ve been interested since I wanted to see what they did with the ballerina vampire concept.
46:47 😂. Love it. Feel like he was talking to most of the audience with that one.
Wrong
I love the relationship between Joey/Abagail. Even after she funds out she’s a vampire. They still keep that pinky promise
The little girl that plays Abigail also played Matilda in Netflixs Matilda the musical which she was great in to
36:40....The girl who played Abigail had loads of fun shooting the movie! She said so in an interview.
Wait, so that's why the little girl is familiar when I watched this movie last weekend. I love the recent Matilda the musical movie. I would love to see you guys react to Matilda, it was a blast!
Roxy is 💕, she has my heart ❤️
Just found out that one of Giancarlo Esposito first appearance was the guy that got upset when someone stepped on his sneaker in the movie Do The Right Thing. Totally unrecognizable lol
I've been waiting for this reaction for a while now. I've seen other channel's reaction to this movie. I remembered the actress who played Abigail is Matilda from Matilda the Musical, Joey is Sam from Scream, RIP Angus Cloud, I forgot about Blobman from Xmen Origins. Also, had a crush on Matthew Goode since Chasing Liberty & Leap Year.
43:40 Alisha Weir is Irish. She's doing an American accent in this film and did an English accent in Matilda. Such a great actress.
Matthew Goode was only in this for a few minutes, but he OWNED that role!!! AWESOME!!! 👏👏👏👏👍
The theme from Swan Lake is played over the opening credits of the 1931 Dracula. Nice little Easter egg there. ✌️
Alisha is a 14 year old Irish actress (she actually turns 15 at the 26 of September) but she was only 13 when the where making Abigail.
And 11 - 12 years old in Matilda the musical, and she turned 13 years old while the where making Wicked little letters.
You guys cut the “Sammy those are fucking onions” line 😭 good reaction tho!!
I just know Roxy is running her mouf on this one and I haven’t even started it yet😂😂😂 i bet she likes it tho
this has to be angus cloud’s last film before he died. RIP 🙏🏻
Yes! Please watch Matilda the Musical! Alisha Weir is phenomenal in that, too.
man i love this movie and ready or not i hope there’s gonna at least be a crossover movie between the two main characters or at least another movie to build up this Monsterverse and have an endgame-esque ending to the universe
Vampire Catherine Newton looks like Miley Cyrus.
John you’re cracking me up !!!
I just watch glad you guys are watching this
The opening music for ABIGAIL is Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, which was also the opening music to Universal Studio's first talking horror film, 1931's DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi.
R.I.P. Angus Cloud. He could have been so much more. If his time was limited I am happy to have experienced him when he was with us.
We need a Purge shirt where Roxy is scaring Tara or John!!!
When I found out that Abigail was the same girl who played Matilda in that netflix remake I was gagged. Going from Matilda to this? that was a bigger turn than Jojo Siwa (lol) And she really was great in this. as the kids would say, she ate.
