Alyssa Sutherland's performance is one of my favorites in any horror movie. She carries the film, embodies her character so well, and is actually pretty terrifying as a deadite.
She's excellent but I liked everyone in this film. I thought the characters were well written and well cast. I usually don't care about most characters in a horror but I cared about them in this.
This was a movie that filled me with such a tangible sense of helplessness. It was so well executed in basically every way. When the recording explains that the evil cannot be defeated in any way and all you can do is run, I just felt my heart sink.
Bruce Campbell has a voice cameo on the recording disc that Danny listens to, letting the other priests know that the book must be destroyed, indicating that Ash Williams, this was confirmed by Campbell and Sam Raimi, that he went back in time to stop the Deadites from destroying thw world, and that the film takes place after the EVIL DEAD TV series.
I got to ask Bruce at an event whether or not it was a time traveling Ash who is in the recording and he said that he believes it was just a priest, but that Lee Cronin (director) "likes to say a bunch of shit", so who knows, it could be canonized at some point!
I love this approach to franchising. Rather than just trying to recreate the magic of the series most beloved entry(Evil Dead 2), this just invites young upcoming filmmakers to play in the Evil Dead toy box and make their own thing
Candy Man, Pumpkin head, hell raiser, Halloween, Hills have eyes, Wrong Turn and yet much more to go and see. Fun fact: The Hills have Eyes and The Wrong Turn Franchises are both "inspired or roughly based on" the legendary cannibal Swaney Bean.
I tried to watch Wrong Turn again after ages since I watched it (I was maybe in High School when I first saw it) I failed. I couldn’t make it halfway. I forgot how disgusting it was 😂
@Cadence__1700 i remember watching them on the old syfy channel. Along with those syfy originals or asylum parody films, what a great childhood. The early/mid 2000s were something "special"
There are 3 books (each looks different) which is why the demon in 2013 and in rise are different, and also explains why the burial and burning worked for the demon in the 2013 movie but basically couldn’t work with this demon, different rules.
This is true, but I think that all 3 books are also volumes or chapters taken from the original which is called Naturom Demonto. All are fiction of course created by Lovecraft and then extended upon by lovecraftian style authors...
Now you guys need to start watching Ash Vs Evil Dead the Series. As for movies, Creepshow, Return of the Living Dead, the first three Hellraiser movies and Rob Zombie’s Firefly Trilogy.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre has nine entries, would be good for future videos. Part 3 and 4 can be easily skipped though. But the obvious next franchise would be Halloween. But be warned it's been rebooted so many ways there are 5-10 timelines. Definitely look up a map of them all before watching to help keep them straight.
After what happened with the Chucky series I wouldn't get my hopes up. The videos weren't getting enough views and ended up having to be ended after the first season. Fans of the series had a massive backlash against it. They may not do another horror series after that.
@@SundayMorning91 Ash vs Evil Dead is cut from different cloth. I'll bet people would love it. Few YT channels which has react to the show, didn't complain about the views, and they are way behind Reel Rejects as it comes for subscriptions. Especially that Evil Dead fans love this show.
Yeah totally and while I acknowledge Fede Alvarez did a good job in 2013 and appreciate his direction and cinematography and all, I didn't like that one. This one was awesome and felt more like a movie from the Evil Dead franchise.
I've never wanted to stop watching a movie more than this one. Midway through, I felt hopeless and beaten down in a way I hadn't experienced with a film before. Yet, somehow, this one ended up being my favorite in the entire franchise! Happy Halloween Shejects!!
Love that they tied all the original movies to the 2013 version and now to this one. All one coherent franchise. Also, can we all just give a 10/10 for Roxy's supersonic chair spin?
So Roxy and Tara, desensitized yet?! You two were troopers hanging in there to react to the entire movie! Their is still "Ash vs Evil Dead(TV Series 2015-2018)" Three seasons which is a continuation off of the first 3 movies, 30 years later. And I loved the tropes from the wires of the elevator to be like the branches of the trees, the gouging at that mans eye and spitting it out as they did in the sequel/remake, Staffnie was the staff they used in the first movie that had of a skull on the end of it when a deadite got stabbed as the body fell apart. The blood in the elevator represents the blood gushing out of the wall just to name a few.
"Want Mommy to kiss it better?" should have gone a little further, if Evil Dead are focusing on adult humour ("Want Mommy to fcck it better?" for example.)
Goddammmit, i just watched the Substance i want to vomit but I caaaaant, now I have to watch another body horror film I'm sure my brain is already scrambled .
From what I’ve read, one book appeared in the original Evil Dead trilogy, 2nd in the 2013 film, and the last one in this film. This makes all the films in the same continuity I believe.
Roxy, the phobia is so real. I love the outdoors. I go fishing all of the time, I can pick up most creatures, but when I see a roach, I will literally start having panic attacks.
i think this is one of those rare occurrences where a strong female character is written perfectly and acted perfectly without it being too toxic i love her she’s definitely my favourite in between Lara croft and Selene from underworld
This is the reason I think the book from the first three is one Necronomicon, the 2013(?) is the second, and Rise has the third. They each have different transmission, different ways to kill deadites and they look completely different.
If the reactions don't make that **hole Greg who only cares about making money he'll just do what he did with the Chucky series and stop after a season or 2 so there's really no point
You REALLY need to do 'Session 9'. I'd say overall it is more scary, while having very little actual gore. The entire concept is incredible and it has possibly one of the greatest horror atmospheres ever recorded on film, (due to the real location that it was filmed at.) In fact, the location was considered so horrific that most of the complex got torn down, (and destroyed by a fire,) after the movie finished filming...
The thing that I love about the franchise is that the core 3 have always been involved. Raimi, Campbell, and Tapert. And it's why they have consistently been solid. What I hope they keep doing, and What it seems like they are doing is using the Evil Dead Frame work, to make low budget horror featuring great up and coming directors. I honestly would never care if they connected any of these story's to the OG timeline, or each other ... Just keep giving me cool new directors under the mentorship of these three within the confines of the "Evil Dead" style. I can watch these till I die.
You guys should cover the ash vs the evil dead series.... it's absolutely glorious especially since you loved army of darkness. I own the entire franchise on physical media

Poor tara, she had nightmares before the scarry season ends hahahaha apparently theres 3 different books that connects with each timeline, thats why each book looks different. Ash have one Mia had another Beth had the 3rd.

Hilarious reaction from you guys as expected because it definitely is a tough watch with all the gore 😂 I would love if the Evil Dead franchise kind of just turned into an antholgy series at this point and maybe loose connections to previous titles here and there. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the film. I expected more. It has many good approaches, but is disappointing overall. Too often the brakes are pulled when you think. . .but now.
This has become one of my all time horror favorites (and I’ve seen a LOT). I particularly love the first act when the family dynamic unfolds, and there’s almost a warm feeling of family coziness: the aunt visits her sister, the kids going for pizza to soon later going to bed. Everything is setup for a beautiful evening, watching TV or something. The perfect setup for disaster, like Alien.
Great news is there's a new one in 2026! The franchise is mainly anthology now and I love that. This will be another new set of characters and not a sequel. Just...feed me evil dead every 2-3 years forever please n
You guys need to do Ash versus the evil dead the series it's only a few seasons and it's excellent ! It has a lot of talent in it, the incomparable Lucy lawless comes to mind !

Are yall gonna do “Ash Vs The Evil Dead” series? If so then yall would truly be completists 😁
Thanks for being tortured for our amusement as always! This movie looked brutal!! Still haven’t seen it.
Don’t let Rox watch “Creepshow” by George A Ramero & Stephen King...
Creepshow 2 "The Hitchhiker" is still one of my favorite things from my childhood. "Thanks for the ride lady!".
Nice! I’m just saying, if this is too much,
There’s absolutely no way she can handle “They’re Creeping Up On You..”
HAPPY HALLOWEEN REJECTS & SHEJECTS🎃
Scream as the next horror franchise
Not the sneeky jumpscare after the intro. Almost spat out my cerial
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the film. I expected more. It has many good approaches, but is disappointing overall. Too often the brakes are pulled when you think. . .but now.
I love how roxy still asked what they cockroaches did then regretted asking🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome. Please Ash vs Evil Dead! Please! Please!
Moving this from the traditional isolated cabin to an old apartment house was great. But now the demons are loose in a city!
I vote for the George A. Romero zombie films!
It's really cool that the actor who plays Danny is trans.
What’s cool about it?
Great news is there's a new one in 2026! The franchise is mainly anthology now and I love that. This will be another new set of characters and not a sequel. Just...feed me evil dead every 2-3 years forever please n
aren’t they all technically sequels, even though they don’t follow from previous characters in the previous movies
@woozin4696 kind of, but it's not expressly stated, which I think is great
I really hope Ash and Mia team up with Beth in that movie lol
13:32 now we need them to react to Joe’s Apartment (1996) 😂
You guys need to do Ash versus the evil dead the series it's only a few seasons and it's excellent ! It has a lot of talent in it, the incomparable Lucy lawless comes to mind !
I recommend any of these for your next one:
Strange Darling
The Substance
Hell House, LLC (multiple films)
Love The She-Jects!
THIS IS HANDS DOWN MY FAVE EVIL DEAD🎸
Alyssa Sutherland OWNED This Movie. My Deadite Mommy ATE Like A Queen & Left NO CRUMBS👑 She's My Favorite Deadite Of All.
The Halloween franchise? I haven’t heard you guys talk about that one. I figured since you did Freddy’s franchise and Jason’s franchise. Now is Michael Myers’ turn.
Roxy and Tara have the best duo reactions to horror movies.
I felt this one was more tamed compared to the previous Evil Dead (2013).
There are 3 books of the dead - this is the second one technically
Ash vs Evil Dead is very much worth reacting to. Three full seasons of more Evil Dead goodness.
1000% my favorite one in the franchise!!! Every actor was amazing !!!
