@@merkin51 I played this and Screamer lots back in the day. If I recall it was a November issue of PC Format? Or at least that was one which reviewed the full game. I never played the full version of Fatal Racing until decades later where I played it as Whiplash.
So many great memories from this epic game... bought a Logitech Wingman joystick just to play this game, and never really used the joystick for anything else!
Fatal Racing and Screamer both came out around the same time. Screamer had better music and graphics. I liked FR more because of the stunts, jumps and flips. I only ever played the freeware / shareware versions of each that came with PC Magazine and my dx2/66 couldn't really run either game that well, but I still put in hundreds of hours with both games! Good times... I'll be 47 next month.
Here the game is running in VGA 320x200 resolution, but the game also has a 640x400 mode, and even received a 3Dfx patch later on, that made the graphics look much better, maybe you remembered it that way :) Here's how it looks with the 3Dfx patch: ua-cam.com/video/hXSWojB8Ia4/v-deo.htmlsi=oilJbj-8iSeQU9vJ
@@reloaded_ I remember pressing something like f10 or f12 in my game and the graphics becoming like in that link, if not they were like in this video, it took 1 second between one or the other just pressing a button
There is something so nostalgic about these 90's software renderers.

Back in the day I played the PC Format demo of this so much. The corkscrew track was great. If only we could get a remake.
Oh wow yes, I was trying to remember how I got a demo of this! PC Format!

I'd prefer port for modern OS with improvements like two recent ports of Wipeout.
@@drugon I'd take that too.
When i was a kid i loved this game ! hours and hours playing: it's like Ridge Racer but with Steroids ! much more adrenaline !
It's a great and rather unique game, there's nothing quite like it.
Funniest racing game ever as a kid. Cheers
You're going toooooo FAST!
Along with Top Gear, my favourite racing game of my childhood. 😊
I cant believe they never had a remake of this game.

Loved the exciting MS-Dos days of gaming.
I was playing time trials, trying to beat my records through endless nights...thx for this :)
This is one of my all time fav racing games. Id love to see these tracks in Wreckfest, that would be so good
Thanks for sharing this! I got this for Christmas back around 1997. It was a fun game for its time.
Yep, great game, too bad it never had a sequel. Thanks for watching!
Waaaaay smoother than on contemporary hardware, even with accelerated 3D.
True, we tend to forget how much PCs of the time struggled with 3D games.
I remember this game not running fast enough to play - and I really think it was a 100Mhz 486, IIRC, that I was using.

Where can we get this game.. I wanna be go back for 20 years
I remember the graphics being way better back in the day 😂

I have the disc with me right now but I don’t think I’ve ever played this. I’m thinking of just giving it away at a antique store near me
i played this on an intel 133Mhz
120 mhz here.
It ran quite well but the high resolution option was a slideshow.
YOU'RE GOING TOO-DARN SLOW!!!
mp10 to mp9 I’m heading for the pits
great game
So shit Graphics at that time, but so much more fun and hope in life.
5 fps on my PC back in the day 😢
= 386 with turbo button?
GT Racing 97
God, the music was awful, for this only game I'm glad I didn't have a soundcard back then... 🙄
The game also has CD audio music, which sounds better, but it defaults to midi and I forgot to change the setting…
Dude you were screwing up the other racers!
Go fast or get out of the way!
All strategy… it paid off in the end :D
No kills though...
