Tracks with alternate routes, destructible cars behaving differently depending on their length, engine power and so on, a dystopian sci-fi setting and a cool backstory. In a racing game. In 1997. And it ran on my junk of a computer. It was truly an amazing game.
@@richardmyers3823 That's what I remembered as a kid. Woah these graphics look so cool and futuristic! I thought the cars looked really sick too haha, good times!
This was the first game I played on my new 3dfx card. I couldn't believe the difference from the original, software render. So many amazing and cleverly designed tracks. I'd love to see a modern remake of this. Thanks for sharing this.
I used to love this game when I was a kid! It came with our first family computer back in 1996-97. I used to spend hours playing. It's been years since the last time I even saw it.
I used to have this back in the day. As a sci-fi fan I thought it was admirable that they thought up a decent backstory for the game, to give it some atmosphere and for there to be a reason why these futuristic cars are racing around this landscape. I loved the final cutscenes - if you didn't place first in the championship you got to watch the last ship leave before a tendril of 'Pod' kills you.
I see that GOG has this game listed as POD Gold, but one of the reviews there states that GOG did not actually include the extra tracks and cars that the gold version provides. That review was written in 2011 however. Does anyone know if that has been fixed since then to include the gold content? I'd gladly pay the $5.99 for the gold version, but if it is just the regular version, I'd rather wait for a sale. I do have the regular boxed version in my closet, but I've read that it is extremely difficult to get running on newer systems.
This game was great. I was born 92, my brother 89, he was steering I was gas and brakes. I was too afraid to play alone. There was only one ship out. Great game. Amazing.
I really love this game, such a work of amazing art. There were 32 different amazing race tracks, one even in the sky and another in the snow amidst ice bergs and penguins. the physics effects were very good and playing was an immersive and captivating experience. I wish for a new version for current hardware.
I remember the first time my uncle opened this game. I was so impressed that he gave me his CD and I still keep it. When I see the game and hear the sounds, I go back to 99 so fast that I can't explain it :))
This came on the Gateway 2000 my mom bought for me and my brother back in like 1995. I remember playing this and it also had one level of the first Tomb Raider game.
Now *this* is POD racing! Jokes aside, I played this game years before I watched The Phantom Menace as a kid. When they started talking about pod racing, I was disappointed it wasn't this.
This game came with a PC my parents brought, the first one we ever had! I only had a vague recollection, couldn't even remember the name, so looked up 'futuristic racing game' and instantly remembered when I saw 'POD'. To be fair I was only about 11 at the time. Thanks for the upload and reminding me of more innocent times! Edit: the pc was a 'gateway 2000', vintage apparently!
Somehow a crossword puzzle I was working on last night mentioned this game, I had almost forgotten about it. Had to come a rewatch some gameplay after that memory jog XD
This came with the PC my parents bought back in 1998. It was this and Hunter/Hunted. We also picked up 3 more games when we bought the PC: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and Men in Black. I played the absolute shit out of all 5 of those games!
Remember even now it had an podmmx.exe file in its folder. Ran fine on the Voodoo even with my Cyrix 6x86MX CPU. Is there any way to play this on a modern computer easily?

Yeah, I loved that game. No clue how many races I ran, but I know that I beat it at least once.
That game kicked ass! It looked so futuristic and advanced.

loved to play this in my childhood
Good god I haven't heard that intro in a long time. This was by far my favorite childhood game.
Me to me to great game where does the time go
I haven't heard it in over 20 years but still somehow remembered most of the lines!
I have spent all my sunday mornings to play to It. I miss that time 😢
Just thought about this game out of the blue.
Nostalgia overdrive...
The sounds. Layout. Menu. Music. Hitting me right in the memory! One of those obscure games that you really had to play to really feel.
Yeah it’s hard to describe the feel to anyone who hasn’t played it. Absolutely magical
Damn those menu sounds were so damn stylish
Those are perfect :-)

I still love this game today and the graphics are really impressive for a 20 year old game. But the best thing about it is the story and atmosphere.
I used to love this game when I was a kid! It came with our first family computer back in 1996-97. I used to spend hours playing. It's been years since the last time I even saw it.
Same here. Came with our first pc that used MMX technology back in 1997. This game was absolutely mind blowing
I remember this game being really difficult for me
I think I was 11/12 or so, and never managed to finish first. Maybe I set up the difficulty incorrect, didn't speak English at the time ;-)
The good old 90s! I played this at my grandma's house back in 1997. Great times
Haha, me too playing at the grandma's farm.
Great times indeed. Simpler times. Simpler games. More fun.
Also, I miss Grandma and Grandpa. Nothing bad ever happened at my grandparents' farm.
This place will never be forgotten!
I used to have 'pod' on pc. Its amazing to look back at it after all these years and get that nostalgia feel. Old games are the best sometimes
Согласен
I could never win a damn race in this game
Yeah this game was HARD. I think I may have won one or two races out of hundreds
It was pretty easy, hard mod, crash code, manual, 0 brakes 0 handling most of the time (anticipation is key), external view and training.
I know; The best I ever made was 6/8 😂
Ohh, the nostalgia. This was actually my first ever pc game back in 1998 - I simply loved it
I spent hours/weeks on this in my childhood. With the pronged/“bullshorns” car

Oh wow. That ending sounds cool. I loved when a game had a nice little finishing touch like that.
Shipped with my 166 MMX PC back in 1997.... Jesus that was years ago. Superb game!
Good old years...
21 years ago now I was playing this. Loved it then.
I feel you man it's been around 19 years since I've played this. Loved as a kid. I was horrible at it I'll admit but still loved it
id like a remake of this game. the setting was really unique and epic.
The menu buttons noise took me back to my childhood.
Childhood memories. I used to love this game.
Omg this took me right back, my favourite game 😍
I was like 8 years old back then when this game came out.
Too nostalgic, my old man got me my first pc 🕹️tiny computers 😄 the good ol' days - can still smell the new computer out of the box
I was starting to think I was the only person to play this. I nearly forgot about it myself! I put several hours into this game as a child.
Ya

Atmosphere is superb in this game
loved this game. never had the full version, but I played the shit out of the demo.
I had full version.
me and my sisters played the heck out of this gem in 1998... those were the days
My sister actually beat the game before I did. It was awesome watching the final scene for the first time
God, i miss my childhood.
This game was great. I was born 92, my brother 89, he was steering I was gas and brakes. I was too afraid to play alone. There was only one ship out. Great game. Amazing.
this game scared me as a kid
Wowwww. I was 12 the first time i played with It. ❤️❤️❤️
Oooooooh i played this on the win95 machine of my grandpa who died before i was born
This came with my first MMX computer. Such a great game
😁
I got this bundled with a ‘Time’ computer in the early 2000’s and it was awesome.
Oh man, I do remember playing this game, when I was just a little kid. Thank you, Uploader, for this childhood memories.
Thank you, Watcher, for following us! =D
The nostalgia is off the charts with this one. This was my child hood along with the old star wars games then doom. 🤗🤗🤗💪🏽
I remember this game, i spent so much hours on it ♥♥♥
I loved this game so much. We need a damn sequel already!
Maybe they should call it Pod 2 or something
no sequel, it wont satisfy expectations. Let us live in the past a little and give in to this melancholia

You can play GOG version: www.gog.com/index.php/game/pod_gold
damn this game was PERFECT
Yes I agree very difficult though lol but that’s what made it fun
Ohh yeahh the good old 90s. I played this game for countless hours in my childhoood :)
I remember the first time my uncle opened this game. I was so impressed that he gave me his CD and I still keep it. When I see the game and hear the sounds, I go back to 99 so fast that I can't explain it :))
This game was amazing!!!!!! Miss it so much!
Wow the memories of what was likely my first pc game. Don't think I ever won a single race
Dude the difficulty was through the fucking roof
Loved playing this with Robert Miles Children music
Once you played this game with the 3DFx card, you stepped into another level of awesome! :)
Жизненно
Oh man I remember this game like is was yesterday!
I just found a copy of this at a garage sale for a buck, going to try to get it running tonight.
Good bargain!
I can't believe I forgot about this game. I played it soooo much, and yet it was totally eclipsed by Megarace 2 in my memory.
I used to play this game when i was just a kid, and now 20 years later, more or less, i'm here asking one thing... WHERE THE HECK CAN I DOWNLOAD IT?
Ubisoft Website?
YYOOOOO I thought nobody remembered this🤩🤩🤩. Good times playing it on the PC with my brother.....back when things seemed.......more simple
This came on the Gateway 2000 my mom bought for me and my brother back in like 1995. I remember playing this and it also had one level of the first Tomb Raider game.
I could never see the complete introduction, my pc was a turtle in 1999, but what little I could enjoy playing it, it was fantastic
Same here. I saw it only recently!
Go into the Ubisoft Pod game file itself. There are videos from the game. Just have to search the game files.

i want to playtrough now :D
ty for uploading
It was my first pc game. nostalgy...
Wow this takes me back such a great game haven’t played it in years
I remember playing this as a kid. One of the first racing games that wasn’t Mario kart or cruisin USA lol
There's no need for brakes, so use that value to pump acceleration and speed up to 100. Grip can also be lowered.
Duh i was nat even born at that time this game released 12 years before my birth. But still love playing this
I remeber not knowing where this game came from but i had it and installed, never remember winning races
I think this was everyone's experience 😆 Good times
Same to me, where did it come from? Sawadee
The company brand is Ubisoft.
I loved this game as a kid! Got the CD out of some gaming magazine.
Somehow a crossword puzzle I was working on last night mentioned this game, I had almost forgotten about it. Had to come a rewatch some gameplay after that memory jog XD
Jesus, the nostalgia playing this game on windows 95 😮
My 1st PC Racing game... soundtrack is still sounds cool ;)
This takes me back!
god i loved this game i was so bad at it but didn't give a shit
Amazing game!
The very game to check if your 3dfx Voodoo settings are set correctly. This game glitches out easily on certain machines.
Man it's been soooo long. 😊
The racing game I know that had an awesome back story.
I thought that intro was the bleakest thing ever when I was a kid.
And it still is. Some real WH40K vibes from this backstory.
Loved this , my dad had it on his old Tiny pc 🤣
Still got the original disc. 😊

Pentium 150 - 16mo EDO - 3Dfx Voodoo and this game .... omg , a shock for me , forever , my favourite game ever
Those graphic cards from late 90s...
my first game ever
I played this so much when i was like 6 years old!
I found the cd in my basement last night ... Happy days..😁
Wooooow!!!! I used to LOVE this game
That goddamn flat brown car I could never beat
2:18 Cool viruses don't look at explosions
But they wait until the scene transition is over to _animate_. Lol.
Nostalgic 😬
I played this and Oddworld Abes Odyssey with my aunt back when it came out. I was little and it really scared me.
Now THIS is Pod racing!
Image ratio fail, should be 4:3.
True. We mistakenly adapted to 16:9 the first video we published many years ago. Still regretting that decision ;(
I played this a lot!
Remember even now it had an podmmx.exe file in its folder.
Ran fine on the Voodoo even with my Cyrix 6x86MX CPU.
Is there any way to play this on a modern computer easily?
Dosbox or Gog version which likely is based on Dosbox.
I FINALLY FOUND IT OMG
i know. i spent almost a month of it going in and out of head til i found it today
Game: tried to have interesting back story
Me: Okay let’s just get to the weird hot wheels already
Looks better on a 4:3 CRT Monitor ; ) I seem to remember the soundtrack was on the CD and could be played on any CD player.
I still have the CD of the game here haha
I was trying to remember what this game was!
My computer ran this at 10 frames per second. I still enjoyed it despite that.
I loved this game
I remember this agggeeesss ago
