This might be a lengthy post, but I feel it needs to be said: There has not been a guest and editor that I’ve appreciated more and enjoyed than Meme Repository, it was more than refreshing to have someone with such an extensive knowledge of DC through this journey. While I’m not a person who hates this series to the extent of others, I will say that I’m glad they exist now more than before so we could get Meme on EFAP. There’s a lot of ‘pain’ there, I know, but I’m really glad we have Meme in this community, and that his hosting, editing, and knowledge are getting recognized
I have yet to watch but im very excited too. He never fails. Meme is single handedly the reason i went back to enjoy the old animated DC shows from my childhood. The potential of what Snyder killed is tragic

Fun fact: Zack Snyder actually got into agriculture to grow that corn field for real. And Christopher nolan went to zack to get pointers on growing a cornfield field for Interstellar. And another weird thing, is they sold it after and made a pretty penny. Funny how Zack went all that way to make a real cornfield, and then it still ended up looking like shit cuz of color grading.
I refuse to believe this is a real fact. I just, I can't. This has to be a joke. Between this and Shyamalan building a freaking hotel for a Lady in the Water, who wasted the most effort on a shit movie about magical creatures? Wtf is Hollywood.

@@greatclubsandwich5612 when saying that in reference to DC stuff, it reminds me of the movie Superman: Red Son, where superman crashed into cold war Russia, and had a friend as a child, who, when they became adults, was thrown in a gulag by Stalin. Superman frees her and several other prisoners and she dies as she sees the sun for the first time in years. Genuinely a really compelling movie would recommend
I mean, I really like this design of Steppenwolf more than Whedon's. But the fact that they had all the time to do that upgrade but couldn't add SOME colour like blue and gold or something is painful. And they do NOTHING with the design. He STILL needs his axe, or he's useless. Mate, STEPPENWOLF, YOU ARE MADE OF SPIKES. Do SOMETHING with that! It couldn't be SOME cool alien organism biological or technological thing?! Also, also, having him strip was so pointless. You did not have to do that. You KNOW that that is a bare bones, base model. Why would you one, increase the load on the SFX department and two, expose your SFX like that?
@@valentinegonsalves7322 I think the altered voice is one of the worst changes Snyder made to the character. Probably the only thing Steppenwolf had going for him in Josstice League was a decent voice actor playing him. But with all the audio effects Snyder added in post, now he just has an incredibly generic cartoon villain voice. What's the point of hiring a good voice actor when you can't even tell they're good in the final cut?
@@valentinegonsalves7322 This is Zack Snyder. Everything has to be grim dark, meaning either no color, or ugly looking colors. My description of Snyder is that he's like Tim Burton if Burton was trying to prove he's not gay. He's got the overly muted color palette and gothic designs, but he replaces the campy humor with explosions, edginess, and taking everything way too seriously.
Wonder Woman and John Walker both killed a terrorist in public in a very bloody way. It’s weird that one of them is regarded as an inspirational hero while another is condemned as a racist genocidal war criminal psychopath.
Wonder Woman used a god killing attack on an unarmed ORDINARY human. Yeah he was HOLDING a gun, but he'd already fired all the bullets, so he was at the time unarmed. Wonder Woman even has a SPECIFIC tool to restrain her enemies AND it compels anyone she ties up to answer her questions honestly, and she chooses to explode half the building and vaporize him instead of just lassoing him. Meanwhile, John Walker is chasing someone who JUST murdered his best friend, is a SUPER SOLDIER, and can escape any restraints Walker attempts to use on him and murder everyone around him in seconds before running away TO DO MORE TERRORISMS. John Walker made the ONLY move he could have. Wonder Woman just murdered everyone in that room for the lulz. But, let's be fair here. ONE of these two people is confirmed on screen to be a rapist.........

@@SumDumGy there are rings for the whole rainbow, literally. And.. "Just powered differently".. That's a shit argument. Superman is powered differently, not like he's a mega-space-alien or anything. And his powers a not exclusive, others could get it. Just like rings.
2:49:36 “It’s slightly concerning that Superman is one bad day away from killing everyone.” That’s because Zack Snyder based Superman’s entire characterization from Injustice. And for those who said that Injustice is a famous comic, Superman’s story shouldn’t be based on that. Injustice is simply “How *NOT* to be Superman 101.” A good Superman story is All Star Superman but Zack might think it’s too hopeful for his “vision”.
I like injustice based on that idea plus it's definitely better then Snyder failing to do them successfully. And yes All Star Superman is a essential Superman story, it's how you do a classic yet modern Superman.
@@YourHuckleberry99 Zack couldn’t even do evil Superman right. In Injustice, Clark didn’t lose just Lois, but also the entire population of Metropolis (10+million people) and to top that he started to use the lethal way by *killing the Joker* . In Snyderverse, Clark only lost Lois and then killed everyone. I know that he’s brainwashed by Darkseid but this trope has been done to the death.
@@YourHuckleberry99 Nah, I think Lex Luthor got assassinated the most. Lex is supposed to be a Tywin Lannister type of villain: smart, cold, calculating, manipulative and a brilliant tactician. Instead what we got from Snyder’s vision is Lex Luthor being a Joffrey Baratheon type of villain: stupid, unstable and irrational. To make it worse, Joffrey sometimes had a smart opinion while Lex never had.
As awful as Injustice is, at LEAST they made a point of stating that Superman was never treated for that dose of Scarecrow's fear toxin. The fear toxin has long been established as something which, if left untreated, can permanently alter the psyche with rising paranoia and resentment, long after the initial hallucinogenic effects have subsided. So not only does it go beyond anything Snyder planned for turning Superman evil, it accounts for the idea that an uninhibited Superman would still be able to recover, at least to some degree, from the grief and trauma of losing his city, his wife, and unborn child. It's not great, but it's better than anything that Zack "Batman c's Superman" Snyder ever wrote.
Holy hell. That joker scene was the most edgy, angsty thing I've seen since I read some fanfiction for a laugh. The fact that that made it into a multi hundred million dollar movie is some next level cringe.
Not even that. Its like Hitler forgetting that Stalingrad is even a place that exists and somehow removing it from every map in Nazi Germany on accident
He didn`t they try to make out after he left Earth he had to deal with a civil war on Apokolips where the location was lost but also resulted in his uncle Stepphenwolf being exiled. "The humans are so primitives. Am I right?" Meanwhile his leader goes to war naked wielding a spear. Darkseid gets defeated by an axe slash. If only he was wearing ARMOR.
A message to the Biggles person here (or really any Snyder fanboy watching this): We have nothing against Zack Snyder. We don't judge his films out of spite, and we certainly don't actually enjoy him failing to make a good movie. In fact, we're frustrated that he failed this hard in such a fashion because we wanted him to succeed in making a good film. This is true for any director or writer, be it D&D, Rian Johnson, JJ Abrams, Favreu and Filoni, and Zack. We want good movies out of them. We want good movies period. Justice League is not a good movie, as EFAP has proven. We don't want you to stop enjoying Zack Snyder's movies, because we want to enjoy them too, like any other movie. But they're so low quality it's practically insulting to anyone who's actually paying attention to it. Don't shield Zack from the truth that his films need work, because you're only gonna see Snyder fumble even harder than before, and us sounding our grievances even louder than before. I personally want the narrative surrounding Zack Snyder to change. I want him to be a good director that makes quality films for the DCEU, but the reality is that he's far from that. The only way for Snyder to upend this reputation is through what we're doing right now: critiquing his work. That way we can learn from those mistakes and try to improve on them. Hope you see this Mr Biggles. Get out of that Snyder circle jerk and demand something more from the man.
You read like an obnoxious MSNBC host patronising someone about their white privilege and they're white supremacist, they're just too dumb to know it. I completely reject your premise and I recommend you get help with your severe case of Snyder Derangement Syndrome. I agree with Ben Shapiro, The Snyder Cut was great.
The black suit is supposed to be a healing suit. When Superman is resurrected he comes back no where near full power and since his powers come from the sun the Black suit, which absorbs more sunlight, is there to help restore him. But in this movie he's just resurrected at full power, so yeah I don't know... Just there because it's cool I guess.
It's another case of Snyder "Reading the comics." He remembered the black suit and thought oh that looks cool. Kind of like repeating shit from Dark Knight Returns without actually understanding it in the slightest.
The black suit only exists because when the original Justice League came out, comic book nerds kept asking "WHERE IS BLACK SUIT!!!1". It was never part of Snyder's "original vision" and only exists here due to cynical pandering.
The question isn't "why doesn't Wonder Woman know Steppenwolf didn't killer her mom," the question is "how does Steppenwolf know about that relationship to begin with?"
So Snyder's Superman is a time bomb ready to go off any time Lois dies. I guess that's consistent with the fact that Snyder's Jon Kent is a psychopath who taught him to not save people, that his Superman doesn't care about collateral damage, his first instinct when overstimulated is attempted murder and he's an arbitrary civilisation-killer.
I feel if given enough time Snyder's Superman would become a worse villain than Homelander. Weird considering comic Superman could never become like that (not including evil superman from alternate realities)
Turning evil just because some thing with a warm, wet hole dies is grotesquely antithetical to a character like Superman, whose moral foundation of "truth, justice, and the American way" is unshakable... but it is _exactly_ what someone who's as blue-to-the-balls-pilled and obsequiously gynocentric as Hack Snyder would do. Unless that thing with the warm wet hole is his daughter, and he can use her death as leverage to emotionally manipulate stupid and weak people into letting him finish his auto-fellatio levels of self-indulgent movie of taking characters other people created and smashing them together like toys in a sandbox for four hours. God, I detest Hack Snyder...
To be fair, Superman was brainwashed baby the Anti-Life Equation in that potential future, but still, he literally freaks out for no real reason when he’s resurrected.
@@kenthefele113 If Superman is being controlled by Anti-Life then EVERYONE should be. That's the whole point of it, it makes everyone a slave to Darkseid. In Injustice Superman became evil because the Joker used a special drug to make Superman think he was fighting Doomsday. Superman flies Doomsday into space because he knows just punching him won't do shit, and then he realizes it wasn't Doomsday, it was Lois. So he shakes off the hallucination to see Lois' corpse floating with him in space, and to make matters worse Joker attached a dead man's switch to Lois, so when her heart stopped beating, a NUKE was detonated in Metropolis. Also he realizes Lois was pregnant. So Superman then goes to Joker, shoves his fist through his chest, and begins a plan to become the ruler of Earth and take absolute control to just eliminate all crime along with the freedom to commit crime under threat of vaporization. THAT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE SUPERMAN THE BAD GUY! Just Lois getting killed is NOT. During Final Crisis, another Darkseid storyline actually, the Daily Planet gets BOMBED and Lois is injured really badly. Clark has to stay by her side at all times so he can keep her heart beating. Clark is NOT sitting there going "Man I just wanna MURDER EVERYONE now! But I can't leave, how inconvenient." No he's SUPER depressed and trying to help Lois and is afraid to leave her to die. Lois dying would hurt Clark a lot, but it doesn't immediately turn him evil if he loses her. That's INCREDIBLY damaging to Superman's character, that he's only not murdering thousands of people and dominating the planet because Lois would get angry.
I still can't get over the hilariously embarrassing major plot point of...Darkseid kind of forgot about Earth. Even though Earth is his first and only defeat, and it is where the object of his long searching, the Anti-Life Equation, resides. But everyone forgot. No one bothered to write down which planet this was or where in the universe it was, so they just rediscover it by happenstance thousands of years later. They usually say that that wasn't Darkseid, it was Uxas AKA Darkseid before he gained the Omega Effect and became Darkseid. The problem with this? Well number 1; Wonder Woman called him Darkseid. How would the Amazons know that his name is Darkseid if the one time that they came into contact with him, his name wasn't Darkseid yet? And number 2; past Darkseid and present Darkseid look identical. The only difference is that present Darkseid wears a shirt. In the comics Uxas resembled a human, it was the Omega effect that turned his skin to stone.
Green lantern written by EVS is awesome, he paid enormous attention to how different constructs matched the personalities of the lanterns, I know that John Stewards's constructs were like an architects (because that's what he was) and they were more mechanically strong, like he'd make a bridge and create all the girders and rivets perfectly, Hal Jordan had a lot of heart and his constructs were a lot more emotional, and a little bit more juvenile but strengthened by his heart, just like John's constructs were strengthened by his precision. Kyle was an artist and that's where he drew his power and constructs from. Lazer beams pew pew is so lazy Edit: I wrote this before Meme said this exact same thing

My idea at improving it is you can have Eisenberg be a Lex Luthor, but its Lex jr., Lex Luthor's son. And a film or two of a more contemporary portrayal of Lex Luthor against Superman, than having Jr. being an inversion of his father but having a resentment towards Superman after taking his father away. (Character motivation? What is this?)
He'd probably start by writing a coherent script and create some believable characters. Then he's add in a splash of actual color and maybe at least one action scene that isn't complete dogshit you know, make a good movie.... that's usually what happens when you support talented directors instead of... I just realized that in Lord of the Rings they give clear reasons as to why Rohan was weary on helping Gondor because Gondor didn’t help them. But they showed in the movies that Gondor was dealing with Osgiliath and Denethor was weak and becoming crazy. Give credit to Michael Bay that he shows the military helping the Transformers fighting the Decepticons. But in this movie they give very weak excuses as to why the other races won’t help stop Darkseid. Also, way to make Darkseid look very weak compared to the animated Darkseid from Superman Animated series and Justice League. He was calm, collected, confident, and powerful. He only had to fight Superman hand-to-hand. They need the writers of the old animated series making the movies.
Also Snyder did a bad job displaying why Cyborg hates himself more than “I’m a machine.” If you watched Teen Titans, there are two episodes that highlight Cyborg’s limitations and how he isn’t human. One is that he has a limited power supply and a machine tries to change him to a full machine. The other is when he can’t lift a certain amount and he explains that his machine parts have certain limits. However it’s his human side that can help him move past his machine limits. Although Cyborg has gotten used to his condition, you can see his frustrations with his machine limits. This could be explored if they gave Cyborg a stand-alone film. Snyder’s approach is simplified and makes Cyborg overpowered from the beginning. He really needs to stop writing the films, but can do more of the visualizations with more color.
Perry White: ...Jimmy, do you hear that? Jimmy: I *feel* that! Aquaman: Ah, time for a cold brew...what the hell is that? Darkseid: What the *devil* is that noise? *20 years in the future...* Flash: Ok, it's time to use the Speed Force to warn Bruce, and save the wor--...Clark...?
I have one criticism about this movie I have yet to hear anyone else talk about… how the fuck does the kryptonian ship show the future to cyborg? It’s a machine. How the fuck does it do some mystical crystal ball bullshit and show cyborg how bad shit hits the fan? And also if the ship does have the ability to do these things, how haven’t the kryptonians, who made this shit, utilized this mystical crap and foresaw their planets demise and tried to prevent it?
Bro it's a trend I these movies. Bruce just randomly has a premonition about the Knightmare world and his death. Which this movie confirms because of the shot of Superman holding his cowl. Meaning Batman can see the future as well. Pretty useful.
So, funny story, I was debating with a Snyder fan on FB the other day. And I thought it was being reasonable debate where we'd agree to disagree. But no. Instead he wanted to do a "gotcha" thing and only showed how despicable they were. They decided to simply post the "for autumn" image and begin to rebuttal with his daughters death as a reason to not criticize the movie, and say I was a horrible person for doing so. I simply said what they were doing was despicable and had nothing to do with the movie. They said, "its in the movie so it's a part of it. You want to tell Zack not to dedicate it to his daughter?" And I just stating what's he was implying was horrible and bringing a family tragedy into this was horrible. And I left. Some people are just terrible.
Best piece of editing is when Russel Crow says you gave hope to their world, then cuts to the ship, probably killing hundreds in the process. Had me rolling

I feel like he would appreciate that more.
What really gets me about Josstice League vs Snyder Cut, the reason I keep coming back to this video in particular, is just how similar the two are, yet how different the perceptions are. People, even to this day, defend the Snyder Cut as some heroic tale of a creator coming back to heal the damage done to his magnum opus... yet, when you really break it down, outside of the obvious cut content, Whedon didn't actually change too much of the fundamental aspects of the film. Most of Whedon's changes were based around character, whether it be expanding the roles of all non-Cyborg characters or giving context to emotional beats to payoff later. People saw Josstice League and were quick to pin blame on Whedon for every little thing wrong with the movie, citing the re-shoots and Snyder's comments, yet we find out that most of those faults are present (even expanded) in the Snyder Cut. Do people give Snyder grief over it? Some, sure, but most are quick to forget they ever found fault with moments in the first place. It's a fascinating portrayal of people that were so desperate for the DCEU to be 'good' that they had to justify it any way they could. The arguments for or against the other DCEU films couldn't really be refuted, because it came down to the emotional resonance people had. Yet, here, we see the same movie portrayed by two different creators (one working with SIGNIFICANTLY more restraints) with the same major story beats... and we come to find that, yes, the people defending the DCEU were just doing it for tribalism the whole time. It proved that so many were just doing it for the sake of wanting DC to rival, or surpass, Marvel, rather than wanting something actually good.
I thought people were too hard on Josstice League at the time. I thought it was a medium quality film for what it was. It reminded of a 4 part cartoon special; silly but ultimately fun to watch
Spot on. Although I think the on set reports of Whedon being an absolute cunt didn’t help the perception of him or the film. So fans were latching onto Snyder due to the casts love for him along with what you said about fans just needing SOMETHING from the DCEU universe to be good.

Question: If the motherbox gave Steppenwolf a vision of the anti life equation, why doesn't he just spam visions and try to draw it from memory to Darkseid?
Hey wait a second. Superman died and did his super-scream in a port in Gotham. The Motherbox that awoke from the scream was on Themiscyra. The second Motherbox was stored in an Atlantean stronghold, in the Atlantic Ocean. The third Motherbox, used to create Cyborg, was stored in Gotham. So the super-death-scream activated a box on a different continent, but the one literally sitting around in the same city just hit the snooze button?
Apparently Silas had already activated the third Motherbox when he started his experiments with it. The super death scream didn't activate that one. ... But that just raises further questions and opens even more plot holes, so screw it.
In order for his scream to travel around the globe it has to be so loud that it would creat a super sonic explosion resulting in a shockwave destroying everything within miles Why not just say the boxes awoke cause they sensed superman dying and you wouldn't have to deal with that stupidity

The biggest issue with the movie over its theatrical counterpart is it's a 4 hour movie with only 2 hours of content. Way too much of it is filler. It's like Zach saw that he had no time limit and decided to see how far he could push it. Warner Bros were right to limit it to 2 hours
Zack Snyder wastes his runtime constantly by giving us fucking minutes of establishing shots, pointless scenes that literally add nothing to the movie, and just minutes upon minutes of the weirdest shit that I don't even know how to describe aka scenes like this one where the people start jodeling just so a woman can sniff Aquaman sweater?? Here's the thing: One of the director's primary responsibilities is to determine what goes in, what come out, and what gets shot. There are so many unnecessarily long shots and unnecessary cuts. Snyder is particularly bad *specifically* at being a director, outside of just screenwriting.
@@shnappy9702 We didn't talk about the quality, but about run time. But if you want bad film making techniques you just need to look at The Suicide Squad. I just noticed that Flshs says “I don’t know who you are” when he meets Bruce. HOW DOES HE NOT RECOGNIZE BRUCE FUCKIN WAYNE? He’s world famous. A dude Barry’s age would recognize him.
I did watch both movies back-to-back and I kept telling people how closely that bloated, visually-ugly and colorless Snyder version followed the same beats and transitions as the Whedon cut. For all the talk of how much backstory was added to Cyborg and Flash, that was the result of trying to make up for their missing solo movies.None of these "heroes" were likeable, empathetic or driven to save the world. For all the problems with the Whedon cut, at least every one of his characters had a personality, and Clark managed to shake off the life lessons of his bipolar adoptive parents long enough to finally smile and laugh the way Superman should (unlike in his other two movies).
Just curious because people always say this but what backstory was added for the Flash exactly? He's largely the same in this movie minus the cringy jokes and the subplot about him being relatively new to the Super hero gig to help explain why he doesn't just end every fight in 5 seconds.

Well John Walker has a white penis so that automatically makes as bad as HItler

2:49:36 “It’s slightly concerning that Superman is one bad day away from killing everyone.”
That’s because Zack Snyder based Superman’s entire characterization from Injustice.
@@nont18411 he successfully character assassinated tons of characters, Clark and his Dad especially.

We have nothing against Zack Snyder. We don't judge his films out of spite, and we certainly don't actually enjoy him failing to make a good movie. 'oh, what's the worst of the MCU? Was it Captain Marvel?'
Alas, our boys had no idea what was to come...
But I can't leave, how inconvenient."
No he's SUPER depressed and trying to help Lois and is afraid to leave her to die. Lois dying would hurt Clark a lot, but it doesn't immediately turn him evil if he loses her. That's INCREDIBLY damaging to Superman's character, that he's only not murdering thousands of people and dominating the planet because Lois would get angry.
Watching this again after phase 4 of marvel and hearing that Captain Marvel is the worst MCU movie. Simpler times, I want to go back
In an alternate universe, the mother boxes are activated when Superman steps on a LEGO made of kryptonite.
I still can't get over the hilariously embarrassing major plot point of...Darkseid kind of forgot about Earth.

Wrong
Spot on. Although I think the on set reports of Whedon being an absolute cunt didn’t help the perception of him or the film. So fans were latching onto Snyder due to the casts love for him along with what you said about fans just needing SOMETHING from the DCEU universe to be good.
The difference between the two is one have more plot holes and the other is tonally inconsistent.
Maybe the real Snyder Cut were the friends we made along the way. That doesn’t make sense but you get what I’m saying 🙂

The Motherbox that awoke from the scream was on Themiscyra.

The biggest issue with the movie over its theatrical counterpart is it's a 4 hour movie with only 2 hours of content. Way too much of it is filler. It's like Zach saw that he had no time limit and decided to see how far he could push it. Warner Bros were right to limit it to 2 hours
There were studies that most people can sustain focused engagement for about 120 min. That's why most movies don't exceed this limit, or not by much.
