If you think about it, Paul W. S. Anderson got paid large sums of money to write Resident Evil fanfictions with his Original-character-do-not-steal waifu that he also gets to bang. The man's living the dream.
Life is crazy..
Lucky bastard.
Just like Star Wars.......
He tried to do the same with Monster Hunter and, despite the movie not being worse than the RE movies, didn't resonate with audiences.
Maybe part of the reason is that Mila is 45 already and she's getting close to hitting the wall :)
@@makaron9363 Part of the reason could also be because of the monsters themselves. Monster hunter ecology and behavioral patterns is usually consistent through the games, so I could imagine fans getting annoyed at the monsters acting inconsistent from their game counterparts.
This is only a guess, though, since there's no way I'm watching a Paul Anderson monster hunter movie.
Resident Evil: "The dead walk"
Star Wars: "The dead speak"

Lemme point out something weird: by putting effects on the dog, this film just went above and beyond than what Cruella did.
Why did you have to remind me that Cruella exists?
@@JewishFrog So I don't have to suffer alone.
Man, Cruella certainly was a movie
Resident Evil put more effort in to their film than Cruella. What a bar
@@A_Simple_SlugThe bar is in hell, and Cruella still managed to cgi a dog to drag it by it's natural black and white hair under said bar.
I never don't get amused by the "What'd you bring me?" at the end of these. Haha.
The "She did it before remembered how to do it" is actually accurate to real life Amnesia
You do not lose/forget you're skills, just how, when and that you learned them
That's true! Muscle memory is technically in a different place then "normal" memory. I think that's why I think
Yeah oddly enough I think The Maze Runner explained it pretty well. It was something along the lines of: You would remember how to ride a bike, just not who taught you, where they taught you or when
@@cube_incinerator426 General knowledge is stored in a different place then "normal" memory i.e. Knowing wat a boat is or how is works or specific famous boats like the Titanic but not if you ever even seen one yourself
And I'm sure that Anderson did copious amounts of research, in order to stay true to the experiences of real life amnesiacs - it certainly wasn't lazy writing.....
@@arsenelupin9697 it's probably realistic amnesia because of pure coincidence, but it was realistic...ish
I'm just over here hyped to see EFAP Movies: Hercules
I hope they watch that eventual Disney remake of Hercules, the original 1997 one, and then also the two live action Hercules that both came out 2014.
The Dwayne version?

Every time I see that laser scene it reminds me that I need to watch Cube (1997) again (fairly certain Pauly ripped it off from there), I remember that movie being great, but it's been too long.
A while back I rewatched all the Cube movies. I thought the first one was good, the second one had some interesting ideas but the characters are kind of goofy and the plot doesn't make much sense, and the third was kind of meh. I think part of the reason I don't like the third one that much is because it kind of ruins the mystery and intrigue of the original with a generic dystopian setting, and the end of the second one seemed to set up some intrigue of who was behind everything and what they were intending to do, but instead of following that up, the 3rd movie is a prequel, so what their greater plan was if there was one will never be answered. So I think the first Cube movie is best on its own.
The 1st Cube movie is godly. Still can't believe such a minimal budget film managed to execute the premise so well.
@@ep3989 I love that the premise is so compelling, yet it's really just a character study about how different people from different backgrounds would react to a situation and break down. Didn't care for the ending so much, but I was riveted throughout.
Only watched the first Cube, concept was amazing, but the acting was mediocre to terrible, unfortunately. Also - that film for me is forever ruined because of the deleted scene where it was revealed, you ready? - the aliens were behind the entire thing. Yes, the aliens.

No wonder it turns living things into ravinous and deformed freaks that crave meat, it was Bobs Blue Cream!!!
Those poor scientist and dogs were infected with Diabeeto!!! Umbrella has ties with Cinema Roberto!!!!
So Fringy was involved with Umbrella Corp?
That's why he's not involved in this set of movie watching, doesn't want that to be brought to light...
@@insulttothehumanrace3807 No, the Umbrella Corporation clearly stole some of his goo and tried to recreate it and screw Fringy over by getting patent before the Aussie plague doctor does.
Unfortunately they dropped Bobs Blue Cream, which turned people into gluttonous monsters that attack 75% of the people, as those 75 are clearly racist.

The Resident Evil franchise is one of the best worst series ever made.
I think its a great time capsule of all the tropes amd clichés of this style of movie.
ADHD editing, cameraman is jumping rope in action scenes. I can imagine the director in the editing bay...
Editor: But that opening scene is too impersonal to be so long. People will hey bored.
Director: Don't worry, just cut to my baby, Mila, waking up naked in the bathtub.
Editor: That's you main character's intro?
Director: Yeah... Well, she put on clothes after a shower. Don't worry.
Editor: Sir, she's just walking around now. Scene's too long.
Director: Throw some flashback montage, cut in some stock sounds and stock footage in between her walking around.
Editor: But, sir...
Director: And then, BOOM, action scene Numero Uno. And the cool mansion is actually in a train station that rides to a lab. Look at the sets, man!
Editor: Yes, I know. You've wasted all our budget on sets. We can't do any SFX and VFX now!
Director: Stick to slow-mo and gore stop complaining.
Editor: I don't think we have the budget for gore. And what about the censors? Is this and R-rated movie?
Director: Alright, drape some graphics on some of the puppets and dogs!
Editor: It still looks bad. Why do we have to show this for so long?
Director: Okay, cut it short, straight to Mila. Look at that kick. Off the wall! I want all that in slow-mo. Never mind the upskirt, she's wearing underwear, its fine. Sexy!"
Editor: This sewer level is wayy to long.
Director: Just wait! Look, they all get wet here. And...there! Some cleavage! No one's bored! Come on! People are still watching!
Editor: We have no budget. And this movie has no ending!
Director: Wait, wait, I shot another action scene like Action Scene 1. It'll be a nice book-end.
Editor: Book-end? That's anti-climactic!
Director: No, wait, cut to Mila waking up naked again! This time its a lab room. See? Trust me, people are still watching!
26:25
That’s kind of a neat line, I hope it doesn’t get exploited to HELL by the later movies or anything…
55:20 a gaffer is the person responsible for carrying and setting up the lights on set. Sometimes the "lighting coordinator" person is also referred to as gaffer
They added this context in during Apocalypse, so I can't say for certain it was in mind when they did the ending here, but she's not tied down to the table because she's being released intentionally as "Project: Alice". That was the idea they added later anyway. Doesn't account for her door being locked, or the fact that she should've been surrounded by a horde of zombies when she walked onto that street, thereby never having the chance to equip herself and perform their "Experiment" with a big fat ? at the end of it.
Also it's funny you reacted with "Ew!" to Mr. Blue's arm moving at the end. The first shot when you realize it's moving, he's doing that himself to save on the effects budget. The CG stuff doesn't start until the second shot of his arm. There's a lot of stuff like that to appreciate in this movie on a re-watch; like the fire axe zombie ACTUALLY dislocating his foot to walk with it broken, and the zombie on fire crawling up to Mr. Blue actually being a stuntman on fire, and Blue with no protection from it. Fun stuff like that doesn't come up in the sequels, so they gradually lose all charm, except FC. That one had the best fight sequences of the series, and the story went full bogus as if it KNEW how ridiculous it was, which made it comical as well as eye candy.
I love how metal is basically just a permanent host at this point
Rags’ icon sells the whole thing
My two favorite movie sound clichés : Knife/sword movement making the 'shhhhnk' sound and moving a gun making the 'click' sound.
30:23 No Rags, I promise you this is canon to the game! You just don’t understand the inner meta genius of Resident Evil!
The algorithm thinks I watched this 40x because I keep falling asleep and hitting replay lol

After the Resident Evil marathon, EFAP should do the Bloodrayne movies next. I think there's like three or four and they're also stupid. They don't ramp up in scale like these do, but they reach their own level of bad. Plus, EFAPers need more Uwe Boll in their lives.
