I was at a Philly club the first time I heard this. I knew nothing about Meek. I'm thinking, Why would the DJ play this slow song and then I saw the crowd of ppl chanting along with so much passion. I was like what the hell is this? And then the beat dropped and I completely understood. Downloaded it immediately. Been a Meek fan ever since.
This is one of the Philly anthems. I grew up in North Philly. He rapped the whole Philly life in this song 🎵 and Meek is short for his name Rameek. Loved this😊
I love how your dad points out the musical notes and his appreciation for the musical portion makes the song come alive more for me as a rap fan of the artist
Philly's Anthem. loved this video. being from South Jersey, i'm in Philly often, whenever a Philly team is in the playoffs. you're GUARANTEED to hear this song. Meek has been in the rap game for a long time, this being his debut album with this single, after a number of amazing mixtapes feels like a firm stomp in rap.
The adrenaline rush of excitement I got When pops said “With a name like Meek, it makes me think that it might be very mellow” 😂 i was on the edge of my seat like “Lets Fn Goooooo!!!!” Hahahahahha
This song is the hood anthem in the club. It's the way the music stars low and continues to build, matched with the content of the lyrics building along with it (starting from the bottom and reaching stardom).
"Dreams and Nightmares" is my second favorite song on this album but I don't think you can cover Meek without doing "Tony's Story Part 2". It is one the greatest pieces of storytelling ever in a rap song.
You guys have listened to Jill Scott, who's also from Philly! In fact, her music video for "A Long Walk" is shot in North Philly, one block from my great-grandmother's house. You can see Dobbins High School (which my dad attended) and the rec center next to the park! Unfortunately, the mural she stands in front of has been painted over, but everything else looks virtually the same! Philly has lots of talent! Jill, Meek, Kobe, Kevin, Will, etc!
Dad looks at the headphones as if the phonics that’s gonna come from the other end has the potential to take him to a place he has never seen before. Take him on a ride full of twists and turns similar to a roller coaster. The abrupt end to the song is like when the coaster finally hits the air brake and he comes back to reality. I love dads reactions, it’s cool that you guys go on these journeys together! 💯
songs like these truly capture rap music at its finest! that trial to triumph sound can’t be duplicated in any other genre the way it’s captured in hip hop. if I could, i’d love to recommend Blue Laces pt.2 by the late Airmiess Asghedom, aka Nipsey Hussle. Peace to you guys thanks for making this kind of content 🤲🏾
@TheFrontRoom I SWEAR I love your Father hes so AWESOME! We listens to the music with a open mind to understand our life's and hes a rare person and were THANKFUL for him! But EVERY person from this culture will tell you "Nas-The Message" is the song that is MANDATORY! Its the EXACT song that explains "HipHop, the struggle, and GREATNESS" in the hip-hop genre!
Please show your dad Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky (live at Abbey Road studios)!!! This song over here in the UK is a national treasure, it's also a song that brought Adele to tears when first hearing it. Paolo wrote it when I believe he was 17 years old, and the subject matter is just so perfect and topical at all times. PLEASE!
As far as a gangster moving in silence, no one is afraid of the loudest mouth but rather the intentionally quiet and observant ones, because EVERYONE knows... Actions speak louder than words.
From Philly, you should watch a video of this song coming on in bar or club everyone sings this song verbatim. This is kinda like the rap version of that disco song “I will survive” how it builds and switches with two fire beats Lol for the conversation of flows think of nursery rhymes those are kinda like 80% of rap flows, like movies it’s just so much easier to remake an established successful flow then originate your own ….. kinda reason why sampling is so big
@@mrbigzz3985 yeah I’d love to see 1942 Flows cause it’s like a top 5 song ever but I think his dad would really appreciate how they flip that sample on Championships intro
@@myname8635 wanna see me fold It’s crazy how people allow media and social media to shape their opinions on dude wins in losses was definitely better than views and they play with that boy numbers. They put that in niggga and shackles real quick.
You should try a few battle rap freestyle videos. You have Meek Mill when he was younger, you have Reed Dollaz from SW Philly, Hollowman from North Philly, Tech 9 (RIP), You have your New Jersey and New York infamous battles Murda Mook and Jae Millz. There's just so much more out there to tap into when it comes to the craft of rapping.
I never clicked a video so fast lol. This should be good
I swear to God😂
I swear
And was! 😂
Philly Philly
ONG
this is considered our national anthem
Our? 👀 lol
Their national anthem of trash 🗑️
In Philly yea. That song blew up right away over here
This is a black peoples anthem
I heard just want to rock is the new anthem!
I work at a bar and when a DJ drops this the crowd goes nuts every single fucking time.
This was his masterpiece.
An ABSOLUTE Masterpiece
Legend has it… The School system in Philadelphia teaches the kindergarteners this legendary song along side the national anthem 🇺🇸

"I feel like it might be very mellow" 😂
It does start off that way😂
Right….I laughed and said he has no clue
Lmfao
I laughed too 😂 Hilarious
The louder your scream, the wacker the verse 😂
I have partied all over Europe, Caribbean, Latin America and UAE, and this song goes OFFF absolutely everywhere! Love to you guys from London
I love how your dad points out the musical notes and his appreciation for the musical portion makes the song come alive more for me as a rap fan of the artist
Right! A very welcomed perspective
Thanks, Kia!
Dad always passes the vibe check 😂💯💯💪🏾💪🏾
“I like this” is suchhh a cute response I died😂😂
Nothing gets you pumped in the gym faster than Meek Mill yelling at you through your headphones
I can guarantee every single person watching this sang this song word for word😂😂
💯
I’m from Philly, and this song is everything to us, thank you for sharing this with your Dad.
Dad is so cool for having an open mind! I love it. PHILLY STAND UP!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
That whole album is incredible. This song still gives me chills.

Right!! I love how he really feels the music. He would love to see a big group of people singing this 😂
Meek is one of the best story tellers. Has a lot of really good songs

Listening to Meek was an experience back then and it still is now
I’m not a meek mill fan but I get chills everytime that beat drops
I'm from NYC and an old hip-hop head, and this song is one of my top 20 best hip-hop songs
same, I'm brooklyn born, bronx raised. i'm about to be 40 in a month and i've lived through all sub genres of hip hop, and this song is perfection.

Meek Mill is so motivational it's crazy
Yes. I'm prepared to prepare every time I hear it.
Childhood classic. I think I was a junior when this song came out, and it was on repeat all day long.
As a Philly native i appreciated this video so much lol. This definitely took me back and had me in my bag.
In my bag was a great meek song
“It’s unrelenting” truer words have not been spoken

Very cool to hear that, Lauren! - dad
I went to Dobbins and cut school to be at the video shoot at Connie Mack Park. In the background playing basketball! Good times.
Not sure if they’ve covered The Roots yet but they’re also from Philly.
Y'all should listen to Eve, who's also from Philly and a female rapper.

I know it’s not a competition but you guys are my favorite father/son duo.
You gotta show your dad some old Chief Keef!!!😂😂😂
Keef is a top 5 favourite artist of mine… it’ll happen
I can’t wait 😂😂😂
This song makes me cry I be so into it! It reminds me of my late brother. Kudos to y'all for covering this one ❤!
He always have the best intro's songs to kick it off.
Love how open your Dad is to all kinds of music. Love this song so much! The way it builds to the drop is *chefs kiss*

Meek is one of my favorite artist just because I got to see him grow from the trenches doing battle raps on UA-cam to where he is now
Yoooo! Absolute necessity! Thank you for showing your father.
I LOVE to see you guys react to things!!
Meek Mill - Traumatised would be an amazing song to show your dad, it captures Meek Mill at a really vulnerable state that is rare in his career!
Definitely need to show him First Day Out by Tee Grizzley. Struggle rap is a different beast
Shout out PA. Every morning we said the pledge of allegiance then saluted to Meek Mill
Love your dad’s vocabulary. Describes songs beautifully
The song is a staple anyone that hears it will come running out of nowhere and start vibin and rapping along with it
This is an absolute anthem, my one and only song for squats
