Back in 2004 this was the most groundbreaking thing I ever heard. Dr. Dre used to be considered the best producer at the time, but Kanye West's new sound really gave him some competition
Yes... extremely groundbreaking. And, in 2004 I was with the one and only girl I've ever loved who unfortunately miscarriaged our child and this album was not only the hottest thing out at that very moment in my life we would take car rides listening to this album. The quality of the songs on this album really shows how much work was put into this album. Four years of recording, writing, and mastering by himself on his DEBUT ALBUM.
Top 10 of albums in my rotation. Absolutely amazing freshman album and for it to be among his best work just shows how hard he worked on it. He deserves 10x the respect and recognition he actually received for this album. This album was not an album, it was/is an EXPERIENCE.
Pop's killed me when he said, "Keep em high!!" 😂😂 Pop's got touched a bit to "Family Business" I saw. Definitely one of those joints that will move you given the right time. Definitely another nice and entertaining review.
Through the wire is one of my favorites. Its crazy to me that he recorded that song with his jaw wired shut. Which is why it's named that obviously. But it's inspirational that he can make that good of a track and still rap like that with his jaw wired shut. So motivational to me. Great reactions as always!
Hey guys I really really love the relationship you and your father have. Me and my dad didn’t have the greatest relationship most of my adult life we both work in a family business together which was stressful and tough. He had a heart attack and it changed his life and way of thinking overnight and our relationship now reminds me a lot of you and your dad. Your dad is amazing brother. Thanks for all the great content guys !! Have to admit I have shed a few tears watching your dad on certain songs
Loving the new trend of father and son reactions to music. For some of us who don't have the relationship with our own father where we could show them our favorite music, this content is great to see. I'll be tuning in to the rest of the Kanye discography on this channel at the very least
This album unlocks some core memories, my family was going through some rough stuff at the time and Family Business was a song I would go home and listen to to release. My favorite Kanye album hands down.
I had a similar relationship with my Dad before he sadly passed away in 2014. I miss him so much that sometimes it still hurts to this day. We didn't share our love for music but rather professional wrestling. My Dad got me into it from a very young age and I still watch it today at the age of 38. I watch certain matches and I think "Dad will like that" or "What would Dad think of this?" Watching you two brings me so much joy. Keep up the great videos and cherish these moments always. Love to you both
I love watching the discovery process. I cried with your dad. I laughed with your dad. And, I banged my head to All the beats/songs with your dad. I feel reinvigorated having rediscovered this album. Feels like the 1st time. I needed this re-up. Thanks!!!
This is in my opinion the greatest album of all time. The concept, the production, the lyrics, the features, everything is just so amazing and blends together perfectly.
Love you both, and how your relationship bleeds through your reaction. Awesome! And Yes, “Through the wire”, was his very first single off the album. His jaw was wired shut while he was recording. Chaka’s song is called through the fire. His song is called through the wire, because he’s rapping through the wires that has his jaw shut. It’s extremely poetic. It’s symbolic of how he overcomes any obstacle to do what no one thinks he’s able to do.
this album always takes me back to senior year of high school… this made me feel like I just heard it for the first time. You guys are awesome. Enjoy the videos so much. Thanks for this one! Can’t wait to one day enjoy music with my kids like this.

Late Registration was another amazing album. It’s my favorite. Both of my autistic brothers love it too and they usually cover their ears when they hear rap. The one who is nonverbal perks up and rocks to the songs. I love Kanye West, even through folks trying to make him look crazy in our eyes. ❤

3. Bridging the gap and showing what being a dad is.
Thats big time in my book, it really shows you enjoy exploring what your son is into 👊🏾🤜🏾🤛🏾
just watched this entire video. I just love how much your dad can listen to every detail of vocals, percussion, etc. & how he’s so open minded to everything you’ve shown him. This album is an all time favorite. Great video👌🏽keep em coming!
Thanks so much! Really nice to hear that you watched the whole video - that’s awesome ❤️ - Kai
Watched the whole video just so I could listen to that album in full again. It's so awesome to hear his reaction! I always end up listening to it at least once a year in full. Family business and all falls down put me in the feels every time 😭
They're both so amazing. Thanks so much for watching Andrew glad you enjoyed!
For my honestly my #1 favorite album of all time lol
I love when he gets emotional just shows we are all the same bc this is how so many of us felt the first time we heard it💯❤️
Pop's killed me when he said, "Keep em high!!" 😂😂 Pop's got touched a bit to "Family Business" I saw.
I used to clean my college apartment to this album...beginning to end, it's a classic
NAS - I Can also had kids sing the chorus
Hey guys I really really love the relationship you and your father have. Me and my dad didn’t have the greatest relationship most of my adult life we both work in a family business together which was stressful and tough. He had a heart attack and it changed his life and way of thinking overnight and our relationship now reminds me a lot of you and your dad. Your dad is amazing brother. Thanks for all the great content guys !! Have to admit I have shed a few tears watching your dad on certain songs
Thanks for your kind words. Real glad to know you and your dad’s relationship has gotten good, and best of health to him! - Kai’s dad
Loving the new trend of father and son reactions to music. For some of us who don't have the relationship with our own father where we could show them our favorite music, this content is great to see. I'll be tuning in to the rest of the Kanye discography on this channel at the very least
Thanks so much Kobi! I too love the influx of father son reactions that is what inspired us
This album unlocks some core memories, my family was going through some rough stuff at the time and Family Business was a song I would go home and listen to to release. My favorite Kanye album hands down.
Family business probs my favourite ye song so pure and beautiful the real ye
This whole album is pure memories!
Love to you both
Sending you so many hugs.
One of the greatest albums of my time, for sure.
It’s 3am in Norway, but this is just too good to put away. Props to you and your dad. One of the best channels on YT 🙌🏽
Thanks!!! - Kai
Man....I really enjoyed watching this reaction, probably my favorite from you guys.I forgot what a masterpiece this album was.
Thanks for tuning in Nate, glad you enjoyed it 😀
I love watching the discovery process.
It is
Love you both, and how your relationship bleeds through your reaction.
All falls down has some of the best production. Those guitars have so much width it's divine
this album always takes me back to senior year of high school… this made me feel like I just heard it for the first time. You guys are awesome. Enjoy the videos so much. Thanks for this one! Can’t wait to one day enjoy music with my kids like this.
Your very lucky to have such an awesome dad. You can tell how much he loves you man and from what i can see he did a great being a father to you. That's a complement for you both
One of my favorite albums of all time. Dad confirming it was a "hot number" put me over the edge! You two are great
Dat album is boring af💀 how can it be ur fav oat?🤣 I mean like 3 beats are cool but the rest? He raps with no energy and it rlly doesnt fit. Most overrated album oat imo
@@saneldacic6143 it's a great album but def not one of the best of all time lol
@@GeraldGruenigMedia1 its rlly just ok imo
@@saneldacic6143 in fact, funny enough Redman has 3 albums better than this, so does Outkast, probably 4, so does epmd, so does de la soul, so does tribe
@@GeraldGruenigMedia1 thats what im saying bro
I love how emotional your dad gets listening to the music.
When your dad does a little laugh or giggle because he picks up on a lyric or rhyme gives me LIFE 🤣🙏💙
One thing I enjoy about your channel is that your dad is open to learning from you, and he recognizes the samples used in the songs.
I finally got through the whole show, I was at work everyday finishing lol but I love the whole reaction to the album. This is the only UA-cam show I like to watch til the end.
Wow, thank you!
I don't watch reaction videos except for your channel. Your Dad's emotion is genuine and you guys look like you have a great relationship. Take care.
Thank you so much 🤗
I originally subbed for the reactions from "Dad" but have learned that what I enjoy the most is the bits of history and backstory that are shared beforehand
Thanks for the feedback on that. - Kai’s dad
The way you look at your dad is everything.
Late Registration was another amazing album. It’s my favorite. Both of my autistic brothers love it too and they usually cover their ears when they hear rap. The one who is nonverbal perks up and rocks to the songs. I love Kanye West, even through folks trying to make him look crazy in our eyes. ❤
Dad excitement is so wholesome, reminds me of my first time listening to Kanye’s albums, they are all so good
Excited to hear your father eventually listen to 808’s and heartbreak. That album is always a head-turner for sure.
This is just so wonderful to see someone hear the album for the first time. Wow. This album came out when I was in undergrad. Had campus on lock! 💕✨
I'm right there with you. I remember listening to this when I drove to Niagara falls from NJ in my senior year of college.
You gentlemen have me smiling .Playing my favorite Kayne album on one of my favorite youtube channel.Thank you for sharing these experiences with the world so authenic in a world where most are not.
Thank you, Lawanda. We truly appreciate it! - Kai’s dad.
That ad read was top notch. Ive heard seasoned and established podcasters that cpuldnt deliver with that confidence and cadence
Went through most of your videos in one night tonight. Thank you. It's been an amazing experience crying with dad. Bless y'all
Literally doing the same now
Love seeing your dads enthusiasm - knowing who Ye is, but not having heard. It's infectious hahaa
Please cherish your dad while you have him. I wish I could sit with my dad and do something like this. He was eclectic when it came to his musical taste, so I would've loved to sit with him and have him explain why he loved certain songs. In return, I'd play some of my favorite music and get his opinion on it. Keep posting great content.
Awesome episode, knew Dad would love Never Let Me Down, such a great track. And a masterpiece album. 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching!
I loved your dissection on "We Don't Care". The song is a perfect juxtaposition of joy over the details of a difficult life. This album is such a range of emotions.
Awesome always guys! Thank You. In my opinion this is the blueprint for how you make the perfect album. Kanye was on his grind and worked his ass off to make one of the greatest albums.
Agreed Patrick! - Kai
Spaceship Top 100 Song all Time. As one of the only Hip Hop entries. Unbelievable.
🚀 🚀🚀 🛸
Awesome job guys, like fucking really awesome job!! I remember hearing Through The Wire and being blown away. When the album dropped I sat in my car and heard all of it. I got home and made all of my siblings get in my car I drove around and made them listen to it. It was like I kidnapping but they had to listen to it. It changed my life for six months this CD didn't leave my truck. I would buy it for people just so they could experience it, I probably bought 7 copies. My friends and I still talk about this album till this day. You guys have a great relationship keep it up guys. Thanks for the experience.
I was fortunate for this album to be my introduction into hip hop. I receive this album in 💿 form with my first CD player for Christmas when I was 15. This album has a very special place in my heart. I know every line, word for word.
I love how excited the dad is to hear him. Kanye’s first album will always be my favorite.
Probably one of the best hip-hop albums made. That entire album had great songs, and stories, from start to end. I listened to that album so many times.
One of the best reaction videos you guys have recorded. Your dads reactions are absolutely priceless 💯✨
That’s so great to hear! Thanks for the feedback - and watching ❤️ - Kai
Love watching these videos cause the relationship i have with my dad (and my parents in general) is really awkward, and it feels like they could care less about the things I'm interested in. So seeing your dad so open minded and devoted to what you enjoy is super admirable and refreshing.
You 2 are just wonderful humans. I've been watching since day 1 and I love the concept and how you present it. There is so much respect and admiration between you guys and its just lovely. Great you have some sponsorship, it's deserved. Keep it up.
wow! thanks so much matthew!
a few tracks on this album always gets me in my emotions and Family Business always brings me to tears
Most definitely my favorite song on College Dropout is When IT All Falls Down Syleena Johnson kills the vocals she's also featured on Jay Z's song Cry unplugged version
That's not Syleena Johnson on Song Cry, it's Jaguar Wright.
You guys have done great, so cool to see you getting sponsors. I'm sure your dad has had a successful career previous to this, but he must be extremely proud of your work in building this brand. Congratulations
Also I'd love to see you guys make your way through kanyes whole discography
❤️ thanks for the support Barlos! We will do more Kanye 🤞🏼
The thumbnail looked like your dad was wearing a hat cocked to the side. I almost lost it then I looked again. Great video, your dad truly appreciates hip-hop, so beautiful.
😭😂 that would have been hilarious Mike. Thanks for tuning in every video!
your dad is absolutely precious, the way he feels the music.. i love this so much, bring kanye back 🤎
We've been waiting for this one here🔥🔥
My dad lost his sight when I was a teenager so I started driving him everywhere, his doctors appt, get his prescriptions.. anywhere and everywhere. We used that time to really bond and one of the ways we bonded was sharing music. He really enjoyed Palmdale by Afroman. It would be awesome if I could see your dad's reaction to it. Enjoy your and cherish the time with your dad. I lost my dad a few years ago and cherish those moments everyday.
Your dad's reaction to Jesus Walks was priceless. Such a classic album with so many gems. Brings me back to my younger days 🤣 At some point you absolutely HAVE to show him
*Eminem ft. Jay-z - Renegade
*Akon - Ghetto
Your dad and you are so adorable and loveable😃😂
Your pops is an pretty understanding and empathic guy. Great to see you guys reacting to rap and bond over the lyrics, sounds, interpretations and everything.
Kanye is a genius, some people just don't know yet. Just like Mozart, Bach, Mondriaan, Da Vinci etc
I remember this so well. My Dad was the one to introduce Kanye to me with Through the Wire and Jesus Walks. The album was and is everything.
W dad
Man thank you so much for this video, this brought me so much joy. You and your Pops are so awesome .
2 years late oops but you and your father are so well spoken and introspective. amazing album and i enjoyed every second of this video. kanye is phenomenal.
Everytime i hear family business makes me wanna cry just like your dad. Living in a very dysfunctional family feels like i have a clump in my throat
I’m sending you so much love ❤️
When dad recognized Jay-Z 😍... 36:17 yall doing a little duet... This whole reaction was one of the cutest things I've ever seen!! Keep it up, love yall!
15 min in and this is always my fav review from this channel. Dad was really into it! ❤️
I really enjoy your dads discovery of hip hop music. He now sees it has a value to us. Thank you guys 🙏🏿
Really loving this channel bro absolutely love the content keep it coming! Someone of a older generation giving music I grew up on a fair listen!
I hope he carries on with Kanye, the variety in his discography is sure to blow your dad away. Great video
Love the reaction to "Never Let Me Down". Probably my favorite song on the album.
I went to college with Syleena Johnson in the late 90s. She was perfect for the song “All Falls Down”! One of my favorite songs by Kanye!!
I am a fan! She’s such a great singer!
Cool!
First of all I just want to say I’m totally in love with your channel. It’s not just the music you react to but also the relationship you two have, beautiful! On to rap with children singing in it, maybe also play to your dad Nas’ I Can and JAY Z’s It’s a Hard Knock Life. And oh, please do Midnight Marauders.
Never let me down is one of my favorite tracks on here , seeing your dad react brought me back to the first time I heard it . Great job guys , keep it going ‼️‼️
