The other child in the video he mentions as “Laney” is actually Kim”s sisters daughter who ‘Em adopted due to her drug issues and unfortunately later subsequent death, the baby here is his biological daughter Hailee who gets mentioned a lot in his songs. Years later (not in this video) Kim had a baby with another man then Kim and Em got back together and he adopted her too. Sadly her biological father passed away. Em has been a constant in these 3 girls life and I believe he refers to all 3 as his daughters.

Mockingbird was the song that made me fall in love with Eminem. When I was younger I didn't listen to Eminem, I just heard some songs every now and then Like D12's My Band/How Come. But I didn't specifically listen to him. I knew some of the songs, cause they played on the radio but I didn't seek him out. It wasn't until 19 years ago, when I was in Middle School that I heard Mockingbird for the first time and then that was it for me, I was hooked on Eminem and had a newfound appreciation for him. Love him to this day. Amazing Musician, Amazing Father.

I relate to this song so much, i have always had a tough time growning up with my parents and some of the lyrics represent almost exactly what happened to some extent.

i remember this was the one song i really, really wanted to listen to in the car with my dad off of his burned cds but he always skipped it. said i shouldn’t listen to it. i, being a kid of the 2000s and the internet, naturally found my way around that. eminem’s music was something that my dad and i connected through, and he wasn’t always around so i listened to this on repeat when he wasn’t there. weird coming back to this. i still feel like a little kid when i hear it. wild

One of my favorite tracks from him. His catalog is so massive, I can't wait to see what you all have yet to react to! Granted you're probably still aways from it, I'm excited for you all to get into Recovery and MMLP 2. Lyricism at it's finest!
Some songs worthy of honorable mentions:
    Talkin to myself
    Going through changes
    25 to life
    Groundhog day
    Legacy

When I was younger my Dad used to listen to Eminem in the car every now and then. I remember mocking bird was playing one time and I didn’t understand the song because I was like 6. I actually thought the song sounded good. But now when I listen to it, I understand and it’s so sad..

Can’t wait for you to share more of the poetic Eminem. Cleaning out my close, followed by headlights. Both Rihanna collaborations. Not afraid, for sure so one of his most motivating and touching songs for me. Toy soldiers. Eminem was at his peak during my 20 s so I really grew with him and his music. And it’s been and still is a wonderful poetic journey of youth and growing as a person and owning up to your youthful mistakes.

Eminem before getting clean is a lot angrier then Eminem after getting clean. You can see a big change is his music from one period to the next. Getting clean an more mature I think helped him emotionally. An music was always a therapy for him to let his emotions out.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it because it makes me think of all the sacrifices my father makes for us.
He was a bastard son with a father who never cared about him and was really abusive when it comes to punish him and his other brothers.
So my dad never was too good showing affection.
Now im 21 years old and we talk much more and now i get it.
Every time i look at his eyes i see just a little boy who work hard and had to mature early.
Nobody teach us how to be parents. I love him with all my heart and try to appreciate every moment with him.

It's funny cause dad said there's none of that anger and twist turn stuff etc, but it still did twist in the last lyrics, saying he'll breaking the birdies neck, and going back to the jeweler to make him eat every karat, don't fuck with dad. 😂
