God bless you and your family bro🙏 my son was just born 7 weeks ago today, and I pray that my girl and I never separate and break our family. All i want is to come home from work to my son everyday, and provide for them, and love them
With a daughter on the way in June When I’m gone really makes me feel so happy to father a daughter as a white boy with daddy issues from the inner city of Indy I relate so much to Em even as a new father 💙
I remember when my daughter was born, my first time being in the car alone since. I played this song and literally couldn’t help it and started crying like a child. A fathers love for his daughter is precious
I wish I had a dad that loved me growing up lol I’d stand watching out the window waiting for him to come back until one day I decided I didn’t want to wait anymore.
The other child in the video he mentions as “Laney” is actually Kim”s sisters daughter who ‘Em adopted due to her drug issues and unfortunately later subsequent death, the baby here is his biological daughter Hailee who gets mentioned a lot in his songs. Years later (not in this video) Kim had a baby with another man then Kim and Em got back together and he adopted her too. Sadly her biological father passed away. Em has been a constant in these 3 girls life and I believe he refers to all 3 as his daughters.
He became his legal guardian, not father. That's what taking custody means, to become the legal guardian of an individual, examples being how your partner can be your legal guardian after marriage. :))
The older I get the more I understand the content of this song. As a kid I just liked how it sounded but now that Im well into my 20s, I empathise with Eminem.
As a kid I felt it and understood it from the other side, being the child of two parents who were not doing well financially and were abusive and not healthy together.
Mockingbird is a hymn for real dads. I cry every time, maybe because being a dad was the most important thing for me and probably I wasn’t as good of a father than I thought 😢
If you're worried about not being a good dad, you were a good dad. It's the people who don't care that are the horrible ones. Much love from Nottingham England ❤❤❤
Mockingbird is such a classic… a song that gets even more popular as the years go on… as someone who grew up in a broken home it really hits deep for me the entire story of the song + it’s a very well done instrumental fact he turned a lullaby into that aesthetic/sound is pretty amazing + like your dad said it’s a really nice chorus with those keys in the background deff one of my fave from Eminem 💯 some don’t realize how diverse he is in terms of range of songs from emotional, sad, angry, funny, hype, motivational etc…
I also have lost my father when I was 18 in 2010 and lost my brother 3 months ago who was also a father himself and I currently right now am a father myself
You should play him “Cleaning out my Closet” the anger towards his mom & the play him “Headlights” which shows his growth and his apology to his mom. It’s been one of my favorite parts of his career
I think it is more of him, accepting her apology and coming to terms with his anger towards her. Because he knows that she had a problem and what she did wasn’t acceptable, but he had to accept it to move on.
@@JustLikeAFlower yeah it not that she like openly apologizes but her forgives her actions when he and his brother were young because he now understands how hard it is to raise kids alone and now she is dying so he wishes they could have more time because he found his bother (after css took him) and he wants hailey to meet her.
Mockingbird was the song that made me fall in love with Eminem. When I was younger I didn't listen to Eminem, I just heard some songs every now and then Like D12's My Band/How Come. But I didn't specifically listen to him. I knew some of the songs, cause they played on the radio but I didn't seek him out. Hey, thanks for reacting to Mocking Bird. That was awesome. Dad was so on point and Im growing wiser with his views and comments. Cheers to you both. 😊
I used to listen to Eminem a lot as a kid because of my parents. This song always stuck with me, especially when my dad died. I would sit on my porch and listen to Mockingbird on full volume and just *listen.* Also, it’s so funny hearing him say ‘it’s the first time I’ve had an opening to a difficult family dynamic’ (or something like that idk) because this song resonates with me. I’ve heard it and experienced it. It’s definitely my favourite Eminem song.
Man this is so precious to me My mom was a nurse and she worked at night so she almost never could put me to sleep and I was so little I didn't understood why she was not there, so my dad would put me to sleep every night singing the mockingbird part to me while rocking me
I remember I finally got a CD player as a kid and fell in love with this song. It spoke to me as a child in a broken home. I could relate to all of it. Hell, our house even got broken into and we got robbed. Now I’m a young man, wanting to start a family and I have so much motivation to provide a better life for my children as a future father.

He was bowing because it was meant to be his last album. When I'm gone was also his song with a double entendre because it was for his daughter and also his fans
Show him D12! It's a nice time to see him with his old friends. They sadly stopped the group when one of the members got killed, but the music they have is great
This song makes me cry every time I hear it because it makes me think of all the sacrifices my father makes for us. He was a bastard son with a father who never cared about him and was really abusive when it comes to punish him and his other brothers. So my dad never was too good showing affection. Now im 21 years old and we talk much more and now i get it. Every time i look at his eyes i see just a little boy who work hard and had to mature early. Nobody teach us how to be parents. I love him with all my heart and try to appreciate every moment with him.
It's funny cause dad said there's none of that anger and twist turn stuff etc, but it still did twist in the last lyrics, saying he'll breaking the birdies neck, and going back to the jeweler to make him eat every karat, don't fuck with dad. 😂
This has been my favorite song since I heard it the first time. I might be mistaken but i believe this song to be Eminem's only one without any swearing.. which is impressive
If you wanna do some new stuff, cover Gnat, it's like a modern day Slim Shady track, just references and rhyme schemes out the wazoo! Its so amazing to have seen the journey that Eminem has made, he's really on an untouchable level.
I remember crying with this song because my father was always a very violent man who physically and mentally abused my mother, my brothers and me. He was a horrible father and caused us many traumas, especially to my mother and older brother. No doubt the one who suffered most from my father was my mother, even my father’s own family (his mother, his mother’s sisters, his brothers) abused us physically and in many different ways. My older brother had to witness many abuses of my father against my mother, like the time my father beat my mother multiple times and then he drag her all over the house as he pull her hair. I think it is not necessary to say how much my brother was afraid of my father. Listening to this song by Eminem, I felt my heart ache and beat very hard at seeing how good a father Eminem is. It hurt me that many of us had or have horrible and abusive parents, while others have beautiful parents who love their children and they are their whole world. We often do not value our parents, it breaks my heart to know that sometimes we are very rude to people who love us so much and can hurt them with our actions or what we say. Sorry if you do not understand well, my native language is not English so I do not know if it is well written.
Never felt love from my father. Never felt he even cared nor was he ever there. For someone to write a song … well that speaks volumnes. She is loved. She will know she was and is always loved no matter what.
this song has been in my heart since i became a father and especially after the divorce and being a separated parent sure a beautiful song

I’m a daughter, and I made my dad watch this, and honestly, I have never EVER seen my dad cry until then. Really shows how much love a dad has.
This has been my favorite song since I heard it the first time. I might be mistaken but i believe this song to be Eminem's only one without any swearing.. which is impressive
Except for the last sentence 🤣
@@markc266 you're actually right! Didn't even think about that sneaky one
Just gonna sit here and cry on a Saturday night wonderful
If you wanna do some new stuff, cover Gnat, it's like a modern day Slim Shady track, just references and rhyme schemes out the wazoo! Its so amazing to have seen the journey that Eminem has made, he's really on an untouchable level.
This made me cry I don’t know why I think the home videos and the music put me over the edge. You guys have great vids
Eminem is the G.O.A.T. without question.
The way he raps this
So clear
So if he does die a child can understand the lyrics
When im gone is a great song. It's not new but still.
I’ll say it agin, Dad would love “Sing for the Moment” by Eminem.
This is the one I was looking for! I really think he would like it.
His iconic laugh isn’t the same in this song. It sounds like that broken laugh to cry when people break down. It always hits hard for me.
A few other Eminem songs you should react to - Cleaning out my closet, Headlights and Darkness.
Never felt love from my father. Never felt he even cared nor was he ever there. For someone to write a song … well that speaks volumnes. She is loved. She will know she was and is always loved no matter what.
5:15 he kinda predicted the ending lines😂
Idk why but watching old people react to the “new gen” music is quite intriguing
This is my all time favourite Eminem song, so deep and beautiful at the same time
