- Many hunters call at turkeys. To be a craftsman, a turkey hunter most know effective turkey calling methods. In this turkey hunting video, you're going to look at the craft of position in relation to when to call at a tom.
Jason Cruise, host of Mossberg's Rugged American Hunter, walks you through how to call turkeys in a way that is often overlooked: the position from which you are trying to work the bird.
Turkey calling is far more than know how to use a mouth call for turkeys, or how to call turkeys with a box call.
All too often in turkey calling for beginners, people focus on how to go about creating yelps, clucks, and various sounds a hen makes; yet the concept of position is left out.
Position matters because it's very hard to call a turkey to a place he simply doesn't want to be. - Спорт
Man that bird coming in at full strut is one of the most beautiful things nature has to offer. Great video !
Ain't that the truth. Position and woodsmanship. I'm slowly learning. Thanks Jason.
Videos are a tremendous tool for programming your mind on what to do before those last few minutes come together. Love it!!!! Hard to beat Cruise!
I saw that big, downed log and immediately flashed back to a huge mistake I made setting up years ago. My blow down was about 65 yards out. The big Tom funneled right in behind it and stopped. Despite seeing a lifelike hen decoy, he wouldn't cross or skirt around it through the multiflora rose. He eventually got tired of my "hen" ignoring his strutting and wandered off. Now those obstacles are always at my back!
Great advice, 10 days for our season to start again cant wait!
Weekend Warrior Outdoors in SC it started March 20..
Really like your advice in one of your videos about silence kills more turkeys do the calls like that and will put that unit practice this season and thanks for making these videos they are awesome with great advice
Now add high mountains to the equation and it’s even harder. They almost never respond to locator calls after sunrise and do respond to yelps but they’re either very far away or very close and getting into position to where he will come to you is very hard to accomplish.
U are so blessed Jason they have to turn one loose for me to find it this yr
I like that putting a rise in the ground between you

Thanks for the kind words Matt. We will pass it on to Jason Cruise. Truly glad to know that our UA-cam channel is a tool in your spring toolbox! - Mossberg
What loads are you using
Jason do you still use and like that 930
I’m considering on buying the 930 is it still your gun of choice?
Franklin Arnett I have a 935 that I use duck hunting. Love it for that. I think a 930 would be good for turkey hunting but I don’t know about a Mossberg with a pistol grip. They have tang safeties which feel weird to me on a pistol grip shotgun. I use a Benelli for turkey hunting but they are substantially more expensive. I hear great things about the Stoeger 3500
👍
Jason called me son. Yup.
In the in the form of a 930 pistol grip son!
love my 20gauge Mossberg bantam.killed 12 gobblers in last 3 years with it

Do you still like the gun
Keep it real there neighbor..
You had me until the safety location. That's a deal breaker.
