Early season turkey hunting is about location and position. There are early season turkey calling tips everywhere, but nothing can replace knowing your terrain when it comes to early season turkey hunting.
This video highlights turkey calling tips on what to do when hens get close to your set up and you are trying to keep them near to pull in the tom. www.mossberg.com

Hello I am a 72 year old experienced Turkey hunter from Missouri and had to learn it all by myself. Later to learn from other and was the biggest pest at every hunting show and seminars in Missouri. Went to watch all the turkey calling contest . Loved them all and learned lots. Then videotaped by myself with home video equipment which was a learning experience. I have a couple on tape but nothing like today’s professionals or great amateurs. But since you all are talking strutting gobbler beauty I can attest that they are just a creation of Gods magical life that He give to living creatures. That first video was a truly magnificent Gobbler with his life form flowing out of every feather. A aura around it it’s life aura. But once you kill him that most magnificent aura is gone. And every animal you hunt is God’s gift to you. You take their life force away. Just they you need to understand what God has given you and you need to thank Him for your gift of that animal. That’s why having a great taxidermist mount a special animal is so very unique. But these full spread tail feathers snd chest plumes and rainbow color reflection can only come from God creating them. They are just magnificent! Wonderful! That’s about all do the next time you have one strutting in from if you enjoy it. You can always go buy turkey at the super market . Nothing against killing them but give them respect. Native Indians always did. Good luck and take a good shot.

Before I started turkey hunting I never thought much of them being pretty. But once u experience a strutting Tom out front coming in close it'll change ur mind. One of the prettiest birds ever. Nice hunt

Ive been turkey hunting 35 years. One thing ive learned over those years is scouting and patience. More hunts are ruined from bumping birds.

No joke about hitting up cow pastures. I am a ranch hand and it never fails in the spring, when it’s drizzling or raining I see turkeys in the pastures.

Can you give advise on what to do when you have been busted by a big Tom on your farm?? How long should I stay out? Can I hunt the same spot again?

We asked Jason Cruise and he said, "It all depends on if you were calling, then you got busted, or if you just encountered him without calling. If you just walked up on him quietly, give him time. Leave, go eat, come back 90 minutes later. He's still around. If you were calling, like 10 minutes ago and then you walk into him, you'd better give him at least until the next day." - Mossberg
