    Bulgaria just has so much to offer! Local produce that's not GMO'd to death, low real estate prices, services less than half the cost of USA, plenty of big chains if you want, low energy prices, friendly people...the list goes on and on. Thanks for the video.

    Lidl and Kaufland as a German that makes me super happy. Brilliant video by the way. We are considering to move to Bulgaria from the UK and were wondering how the supermarkets are over there. Reallly enjoyed watching

      Thanks very much. Glad the video was useful to you. We definitely find Lidl and Kaufland to be the best shops. There is also Billa and some other brands too such as Metro which is a cash and carry but you can still use it as a normal shop.

      @@ValchoVellikov no no yet, that is true but I am happy that there are some familiar supermarkets where I can get things from I would otherwise miss from Germany. I am aware that there wll be cheaper options to buy groceries espeacially if you know Bulgarian and can shope were locals are buying

    Yes, eating out in Ruse is a bit hit and miss.... I'm less experimental than i used to be because more times than not, i end up disappointed. however, i can recommend.
    1. HAPPY! (pl, Svoboda 4) in the centre by the fountain
    2. TURKISH GRILL KEBAB (ul, Nikolaevska) opposite the train station
    3. KOTKATA Pizza Bar (ul, Bunaya 16) behind the market
    4. PRISTAN Restaurant (bul, General Skobelev 461) Around the corner from the immigration office.

      We’ve not tried the last three so must do that. Aladdin inside Kaufland isn’t bad for a takeaway either and of course Hesburger now gives another option.

      @@emzfamily Aladdin inside Kaufland is ok... however, the Doner Kibab stall across to road (Technopolis side) between Lidl and Praktis do much better chips. BG is not hot on good service, so take away is an easy option.
      If you want Pizza "KOTKATA Pizza Bar" is the best in Ruse. I highly recommend their "Dragon Pizza". Very hot and spicy.... unusual for BG. I find much of the local food bland. This dish is an exception. Service is excellent, eat in or take away.
      Their "Pocahontas Pizza" is a good choice for kids... full of fresh pineapple and sweetcorn.
      "PRISTAN Restaurant" has amazing service if you want to eat in. Go with what the waiter recommends. I've never been disappointed. Reasonable price, quality cuisine and super service.
      " TURKISH GRILL KEBAB" is great if you want fast food. Everything is super fresh. Low prices too.
      "HAPPY" i like too,,,, but it's pricey for what it is.
      Finding a good eating-out experience in Ruse is not easy. The Bulgarians don't understand quality service and although the food is often fresh and well presented, in my eyes, they don't spice things up too much in the flavour department.
      Anyhow, enjoy!

    Great video! Bulgaria has come a long way since the end of the Communist dictatorship 30 years ago, although not many Bulgarians seem to acknowledge that. I remember with sadness the days when people had to fight in front of the empty stores for food and other essentials after Communism left the country bankrupt. That's why it is inexplicable how nowadays there are still many Bulgarians who support Putin and pine for the "good old days".

      What can I sey.just a products In global world in 2022...what I can sey that the communism was just thiny bity part of the Bulgarian history.45 years of 1300 year ....hahaha that's like drop in the ocean.I wrote about their glory empire 3 kingdoms and wisdom.I won't worry about some products which are part of daly life in the entire planet population in 21 sentries life.Most of the developed contry citizens teing to escape from that super consumption and lifestile which by the way started from England from the Indostrial revolution which is slowly ending up.I don't think Bulgarians should worrie about full stores or waiges but about the real goodies as a nature and clean air which they have and don't realize. Not about the industry which makes only ring of people rich....

      Nah...you're just clueless as evidenced by your ignorant comment - we simply want to prevent the degeneracy of the West from being transplanted and imported here. Your comment is inappropriate at best for a travel vlog, and displays a surface level understanding of the subject matter: "It's better to remain silent and appear stupid, than to speak up and remove all doubt." The town is Ruse (Pyce), right ? Why did you choose this place ? Is there an expatriate community ? Do you use Bucharest airport to fly?

    • @emzfamily
      @emzfamily  Рік тому +2

      That’s right yeah. There are plenty of other Brits and other Europeans about yes. We have used Bucharest to fly quite a bit. It’s pretty close to Ruse so it’s a good option. We’ve also used Varna, Sofia and Bourgas too. We actually prefer to drive across Europe though. Far more fun and lots to see.

      Sorry forgot to say why we chose it. We did it randomly after seeing a story about houses in Bulgaria on the BBC site. We bought the house online and had never been to Bulgaria before. A bit crazy but we haven’t regretted it.

      @@emzfamilyhow much does a couple needs monthly to live comfortably in Bulgaria 🇧🇬? I asked that question on so many other places, woth no answer unfortunately. I hope u answer. I really need a number

    • @emzfamily
      @emzfamily  Рік тому

      @@Radio280 I think it’s a difficult question to answer because it depends on a lot of variables such as whether you will buy a house or rent. Will you live in a city or in a rural house. We definitely know of UK pensioners that have moved to Bulgaria and manage to live on their UK pensions which are around £700/€800 a month I think. They likely sold their UK home and bought a cheaper Bulgarian home so perhaps they had a large savings pot from that too. It depends on a lot really. I’d say you’d want at least €1000 a month but I suspect it can be done with less depending on how you live. It’s a great question though.

      I and my husband + our 2 children live in Sofia in our own flat on 1750 pounds. And I dare say that is fine for us. We've got enough to travel around the country, once a year in Europe, and once to the Black sea coast for our summer holidays. But it depends on your lifestyle. Whether you eat out every night, etc...... @Radio280
