I just got back from Bulgaria myself and can honestly say that I was rather shocked at how expensive it was.We had taken the trip to see how realistic it would be to base ourselves there and take advantage of the low property prices and cost of living. The former is true, you get a lot of property for your money in Bulgaria, the latter is not, prices in Bulgaria are every bit as expensive as those in the UK. This came as something of a shock to us as we had been led to believe that the cost of living was much lower there. I suppose if you include things like rents and wine, then fair enough. The sort of stuff that makes up the staples of live though now cost just as much there as here in the UK. Some folks go on about Brexit and how that has affected prices here but in reality the continent has also been going through rampant inflation which, if anything, is even worse.
In summary, Bulgaria is no longer a cheap country to live but still an interesting one if other aspects appeal to you (it's much quieter and cleaner than the UK for example).

Hi George, The last 3 years things have shot up here. You can live cheaply in the summer with the seasonal veg and fruit. Thanks for watching😀

@@mrmrsbinbulgaria1298 Yes. A friend bought a place in 2019 but couldn't move out until recently because of C19. He told me a lot about the cost of living when he first went and this was reinforced by many (older) UA-cam videos. As you can imagine, it came as something of a shock when we realised that today Bulgaria is not cheaper for many of the essentials (though still good in some areas like rents and house prices).

I think Mag Nificent is referring to Prices for locals not Handicap accessibility 🤣😂 Good video though !

Hi Alan, You can get cheaper in other shops. As we said this is more like a British Waitrose. Bulgaria is not cheap anymore. We just had some friends come back from Ireland and they said the Lidl in Ireland is cheaper than Bulgaria ! Thank you for watching.😀

Not as cheap as I was hoping for them living there. It’s discounted compared to U.K. but it’s not o my god that’s cheap.
Be good if you when to a cheaper store not a Waitrose of Bulgaria

They do have cheaper shops. Billa and Kaufland . There are some guys in Bulgaria that have done videos on these. Thanks for watching🙂.

It's much the same in the normal supermarkets now Chris. The prices are, if anything, higher than in the UK. I hear electricity prices have gone through the roof in Bulgaria as well. If you hope to live there, you need to investigate the viability carefully.

Odd that such a basic thing as a grocery store is not handicap accessible...

Very true , Handicap accessibility is still an issue in Bulgaria. Hopefully it will come soon.😪

It is though, just not from the main entrance. There is a second one from the below garage.

Video badly done, not all the prices are shown, there is no a broad description of what you can find in a supermarket.

I believe we watched the same video.😌 While it is true that the video is a bit jerky in some places, I believe that pausing the video allows viewers to get a good sense of the items in the shop and their prices. Additionally, the woman in the video does a good job of providing context for the prices, which gives viewers a good idea of what to expect at a high-end supermarket. I respectfully disagree with your statement that the video was badly made. The couple who created the video were not making a BBC documentary, and I believe that they did a good job of capturing the essence of the supermarket tour.

@nicholas5951 thanks for your support, we are nowhere near being pros at this ( Far from it ) but we realise that when making these you will always get some that feel they can do better 👍Which they possibly could but we do it for a bit of fun also 😅
