Day out at the local pool in Popovo near our village house in Bulgaria - Living in Bulgaria
Great video!😊
Thanks very much.
do you live in opaka just wonderd what village is like ?
No we don’t live in Opaka. We just visited the pool there which is great. It’s considered a town but does have quite a village feel to it. There are more shops and restaurants there though than a typical village so it’s a pretty good place to choose to live.
And please temperature of swimming pools in the hotel and aquapark? Some people wrote, water is cold for their children. Thank you for information.
I think it depends when you go. If you go at the beginning of the season and the weather is not quite hot enough it could feel a little cold initially when you first get in the water but I wouldn’t say it’s really cold or anything like that. We didn’t have any issues and we did go quite early on at least one visit. If you want heated pools though you might be better looking at our Sol Nesebar videos as their pools seemed to be heated and a bit warmer but Aqua Paradise had the big Aqua Park so you would lose that as the slides at Sol Nesebar are good but obviously not on the same scale as Aqua Paradise.
The beginning of the season you think start of June or start of July?
@@marketasoukupova3470 I’d say the start is June and should be pretty hot come July.
Your wife is so sweet staying in the back with the baby.
Yeah she does put up with that to keep Chloe entertained.
Hi, please, Is water in swimming pools sweet or salt. Thank you for information.
From memory they weren’t salty. They seemed quite fresh and not too chlorinated. Just right I’d say.
Terberg shunters are what you saw - and yes, lorries deliver full trailers to the departure port where shunters load them on to the ship(s). At the other end more shunters unload them and once import procedures are complete then hauliers send lorries, or more accurately the tractor units, to collect them for onward delivery. Very efficient, but no good for perishable items! No matter which port you use you will see that shunter drivers all appear to be either completely mad or unusually highly skilled (or possibly both).
Yeah they also delayed us getting on the ferry really. We only started boarding once they seemed to have finished. In other ports the lorries just drove off and we boarded quickly but I guess the boat must be smaller or this is a budget option of some kind. Very interesting to watch the guys swivel round and drive either way. Very cool.
I love the video and the way Rachel is taking care of the children is so cute. Looking for to starting my own family next year
Thanks very much. Yes taking care of all three children lol. Good luck with your family.
You do know this f series x5 is a e70 which is just a heavy facelift
It’s more of a face tuck for us as it has less premium features than our e70 did. Like no moonroof. Not to mention the leak through the aerial that we had to bodge up. However it does seem to drive much better and smoother than the e70 did. It’s also much cheaper on tax and fuel than the old one or the L322 was. Maybe not on oil though lol. I think there are a few new features in this one too that we didn’t have on the e70 and the idrive is much better and even the newer aftermarket android screens seem really high quality these days although that’s not really relevant. Overall I feel it’s a big improvement over the last one.
It depends what your after. This is softer than a e70 . Its easier to drive and more forgiving over bumps and so on. The e70 especially the lci ones are proper beemers where you get what you get. This shape was designed for a bigger audiance to suit all
I don’t know I’ve been driving BMWs most of my life and it feels very much like a BMW to me.
The f15 doesnt drive nothing like previous bmw's..
Respect dude.
Are you going to Aquaparadise this year Steve?
We’re not really sure what we’re doing this year. We don’t have anything booked yet. I expect if we do go somewhere we’ll try somewhere new. We went to aqua paradise maybe three or four times in a row. It’s a really cool place and I’m not sure we’ve found anywhere that has all the same facilities but we will probably try somewhere new. Hopefully we haven’t left it too late to find somewhere.
Car looks nice! What happened to the L322?
We still have it as we were so worried this car wouldn’t work out and break down on the trip we held on to it rather than have to buy another car again. The jury is still out on the X5 but if it does survive the summer then we will sell the L322.
Interesting route you have chosen so as reach Bulgaria. Any specific reason for this one?
We just wanted to go a different route to what we've done before really. We've been the the main route more times than we can count. We also had never been to Slovenia or Croatia before so that was also a big draw.
Do you guys live in Bulgaria full-time or just a few months Per year I'm hopefully moving out soon and enjoy watching your channel thanks Amanda.
Thanks very much that’s nice to hear. We try to spend as long as we can really but it varies every year for one reason or another. Good luck with the move. I’m sure you’ll love living in BG. If you haven’t bought a place yet just make sure to research the village carefully if you are moving to a village that is. Check with other people in the same village, local Facebook groups etc what the water and electric supply is like especially. We have had issues with water in recent years unfortunately.
@emzfamily I've just bought a house in a village but I think I've been lucky I checked with others I found 1 person who lives there she loves it and says its a fantastic village and a few others who live close by have said the same so hopefully it works out OK it's about 20mins drive from VT so maybe see you guys there in the near future 😊
@@amandamegarry2061 excellent I hope all goes well. I’m sure it will all be fine. Yes we’re not too far from VT. Closer to Ruse but we do like to take trips to VT as it’s a really nice little city with great sights and restaurants.
@emzfamily Hopefully I'll get a we trip to Ruse as well looks a lovely place from watching your videos just can't wait to get over alot to get sorted here first .Well I will let u go looking forward to your next video .Amanda.
@@amandamegarry2061 we just drove over so I will start editing the videos tonight and hopefully new ones will be up soon.
Great video. Would you know anywhere in Nessebar that would be showing the FA cup final ? Or does the hotel show matches?
Thanks very much that’s nice to hear. There will definitely be bars showing big matches such as the FA cup final but probably the best bet is sunny beach rather than nessebar but there may still be places there too. Probably not in the hotel though although they may screen the euros so you never know. The other option is a fire tv stick with a VPN app such as expressvpn and just watch it via iPlayer.
Camera quality is really good in 4K ❤
Thanks very much. The Osmo Pocket 3 does a pretty good job.
What is your experience of using DFDS? It’s vastly cheaper I find than using the channel tunnel. Just booked to go this summer and the ferry is over £100 cheaper than the tunnel. My only gripe is the time the ferry crossing takes vs the tunnel.
We had a great time on the boat. It’s a relaxing experience really compared with driving down to the channel tunnel and the bigger queues there. We did end up paying quite a bit but I think this is because we booked it unwittingly during school holidays. We loved the buffet at both dinner and breakfast. Found the basic 4 berth cabin to be ideal and a decent size for us too. We’d definitely do it again.
Nice Video! Have stopped at this service station a few times and it’s a great experience. Shame you didn’t have time to cross the bridge and do a walk that leads into the mountain cliff. As a matter of interest what is your experience of Italian motorway drivers as you went into Italy? I drive to the south of Italy and they drive at 130mph (NOT kph) tailgating one another and it surprises me how they don’t pile up on each other.
Yeah we had a similar experience to yours regards to tailgating lol. Even in the north of Italy. We had a really bad time to be honest but we think there was some kind of holiday on at the time and all the roads were jammed and we got stuck many times when we weren’t being tailgated, beeped at, undertaken etc lol. We will be going back through Italy again shortly so we’re hoping it’s a better experience this time. Switzerland was great though and we really wished we could have spent a little longer there but actually what we did get was a nice surprise for us.
@@emzfamily thanks for the reply. I find that going through Switzerland in the summer as a means to enter Italy is chaotic as there are so many holiday seekers that are travelling south into Italy and there is always massive queues of traffic as the Gotthard tunnel is always busy. We have sat in traffic for 2-3 hours some years. The top tip is to try and plan your trip so you do this stretch of driving either very early morning or late at night as opposed to during the day when there are more motorists on the road.
Would be good to get a total fuel cost vs toll charges for this trip, would make an interesting watch
I think we did show all the costs as we were going along but might be better next time to show a summary at the end with the complete cost.
Hi. Thaks for all you videos, it made us book😊 how mutch was the boowling? Is it close to a beach? Are there slushie and ice cream included in the all inclusive?
Thanks very much. We didn’t pay for the bowling actually. It was free on one of the days of our stay. I expect the same is still true now. Yes there are beaches very nearby in Ravda. 5 mins walk away. Ice cream and slushies are all part of the all inclusive.
Nice footage and shots Emz.
Thanks very much
you're welcome@@emzfamily

Sehr schön das hotel
Ja, es war wirklich schön
Was kostet 14 Tage in den hotel
Ich denke, es variiert je nach Monat. Ich würde auf booking.com oder auf Websites für Pauschalreisen nachsehen.
Well, yes. Superfast XI is about 39 meters longer than princess seaways and 16 years younger. Also, it is way faster... nice video.
hi, whats the pool temp like in the hotel ?
They are not heated pools I don’t think. They may heat it earlier in season but when we went they didn’t really need to heat it.
A nice video with the family well done 👍
Thanks very much. Hope it was useful.
Great video! Well done
Thanks very much. Hopefully it was useful.
Can I ask how you paid to get thro the toll booths in France ? Do you just swipe your credit card ? Plan to do a similar route from Newcastle- Amsterdam - Germany- Switzerland. Thanks
Yeah we just used our bank cards. We have one of those accounts that automatically converts the currency using a decent rate with no extra fees. I’d recommend that over using a normal bank card or credit card. Check out Revolut or starling bank.
Are you going back this year ?
We went there for a few years in a row and last year was the first time we’d tried anywhere else. Both places were great.we probably will try somewhere new this year but it’s difficult because the resort is really nice so who knows if we will end up changing our mind and going back.
@@emzfamily I’m going here on 25th July this year
Something just not right here
In what sense?
@@emzfamily the place looked strange , can’t put my finger on it . Why don’t you guys come to Australia, you be much happier we got lots of Poms here .
That’s quite a long way to go for us but would love to at some point. I guess Varna/Bulgaria can seem like a strange place when you are not used to it but it does become more familiar the longer you spend there. We love the place and have been welcomed in by the locals.
👏❤️✊🇷🇴
You know.
Yes, eating out in Ruse is a bit hit and miss.... I'm less experimental than i used to be because more times than not, i end up disappointed. however, i can recommend. 1. HAPPY! (pl, Svoboda 4) in the centre by the fountain 2. TURKISH GRILL KEBAB (ul, Nikolaevska) opposite the train station 3. KOTKATA Pizza Bar (ul, Bunaya 16) behind the market 4. PRISTAN Restaurant (bul, General Skobelev 461) Around the corner from the immigration office.
We’ve not tried the last three so must do that. Aladdin inside Kaufland isn’t bad for a takeaway either and of course Hesburger now gives another option.
@@emzfamily Aladdin inside Kaufland is ok... however, the Doner Kibab stall across to road (Technopolis side) between Lidl and Praktis do much better chips. BG is not hot on good service, so take away is an easy option. If you want Pizza "KOTKATA Pizza Bar" is the best in Ruse. I highly recommend their "Dragon Pizza". Very hot and spicy.... unusual for BG. I find much of the local food bland. This dish is an exception. Service is excellent, eat in or take away. Their "Pocahontas Pizza" is a good choice for kids... full of fresh pineapple and sweetcorn. "PRISTAN Restaurant" has amazing service if you want to eat in. Go with what the waiter recommends. I've never been disappointed. Reasonable price, quality cuisine and super service. " TURKISH GRILL KEBAB" is great if you want fast food. Everything is super fresh. Low prices too. "HAPPY" i like too,,,, but it's pricey for what it is. Finding a good eating-out experience in Ruse is not easy. The Bulgarians don't understand quality service and although the food is often fresh and well presented, in my eyes, they don't spice things up too much in the flavour department. Anyhow, enjoy!
i wish the Beach would be better like the ones in Turkey... i mean this Hotel has also 5 Stars but isnt even as good as the 4 Star Hotels in Turkey..
I think it’s swings and roundabouts. We’ve been to Turkey and experienced the exact opposite to you. Bulgaria has great beaches too but there are of course ones that are not quite as good. This one isn’t too bad but it’s not perfect. Sunny beach is pretty good though. Same with Turkey it has great beaches but also places that aren’t as good. Bulgaria has free roaming if you still have it with a UK provider whereas Turkey is incredibly expensive for roaming. Ups and downs.
@@emzfamily Ok im gonna search the Hotels that are at the Sunny Beach
@@bd2885 yeah we’ve thought of giving them a go before because you get the bonus of being in sunny beach too so you have the whole town with all the shops and bars and the nice beaches too but still with all inclusive hotels available. The parking has always put us off but that’s not an issue if you’re flying in.
I can't believe, in research for my 2 night mini cruise on the Newcastle-Ijmuiden route on the 23rd, I've stumbled across someone living less than a mile from me doing the same crossing 😂 I used to live in the same village at the time the railway buildings came down.
A two night mini cruise sounds cool. This ferry is really cool. We can definitely recommend the buffets. They’re not cheap but the food options are really good. Hope you have a great time.
@@emzfamily I've pre-booked the evening buffet on both nights, costs more than the crossing and bus transfers into and back from Amsterdam 😅 I'm sure we'll enjoy it
That’s pretty crazy. Our crossing was quite pricey compared with the buffet. We never seem to get the good deals but I think we always choose a busy time to travel.
Bulgaria just has so much to offer! Local produce that's not GMO'd to death, low real estate prices, services less than half the cost of USA, plenty of big chains if you want, low energy prices, friendly people...the list goes on and on. Thanks for the video.
This is Jumbo Ruse
Yes that’s the place. One of our favourite places.
I've been in Romania! Love it so much! 😍
Yeah every time we visit we love it more and more.
Poor quality food. Bulgarians put spices on the old food and covered the taste with sauces and spices. Dangerous food. My family and I got food poisoning! In Bulgaria, there is also a problem with car parking, but also with car theft. And at hotels, especially where there is all inclusive, the hotel staff almost begs tourists for money. Some friends of ours had their car stolen and the Bulgarian police did nothing. The police there are very corrupt. Take care in the future!
At this hotel? If so that’s terrible. We certainly didn’t experience anything like that here. The food was all very high quality. There were tips jars for staff but no one hassled us for money or anything like that. All completely voluntary. Our car was also fine in the car park which if I had a criticism needs to be a bit bigger as it was almost full when we arrived.

Hi great videos, so can you use the all inclusive in all the hotels? Or only the one you are staying in? TIA
Sorry only just seen this question. There are shared areas like the bars which you can use if you are staying at any of the three hotels. Each hotel has its own restaurant which you need to use which is still all inclusive. The palace hotel has a specific pool that only palace guests are meant to use but everyone seems to use the bar at that pool and I’ve seen people also using the pool. Most of the all inclusive facilities are shared between all three hotels though.
I’ve been 5 times in BG and had nothing to complain about it ,sorry for your experience
Beautiful România! 👍❤
Yeah it’s definitely a beautiful place. It seems to keep getting better too. We love driving back to the UK through Romania.
I hate when people like u showed to us how they spend their time filming themselves only and insisting on this thing. I hate the music too, so annoying! You are so arrogant, of course i forgotten you must be british.
You're right!
Finding your videos very useful, just booked for 11 nights for june 2024
Thanks very much. That sounds cool. We wished we’d stayed for longer. I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
Welcome to Romania! 🧛
Thanks very much

Thanks very much
Emz. Yo-what a ebautiful content. =))
Thanks very much. Glad you liked it.
Greetings! You made a really great vlog, I really liked it and we're flying to this same hotel in a few weeks, so I'm really looking forward to it! And I want to ask you if you haven't seen a non-alcoholic mojito on the drinks menu there. Thank you in advance💖
Cool we hope you have a great time. I'm not 100% sure as I didn't try a mojito but they definitely seem to have non alcoholic versions of most of the cocktails so I think they will. I think Rachel had one that I tried which had mint in it so I would have thought there is a good chance they do.
I had a good time
Excellent, glad you had a good time. It is a nice resort. Definitely one of the better resorts.
