Mannnn, to see Jean Grey, Storm, and even Thor all go through something that's gonna require them to step into the versions they're gonna need to be to face whats coming is interesting to see.
Rachel Grey/Summers is the only person [edit: relevant human character, prior to whatever mess Jason Aaron did] to wield the Phoenix Force [edit: for more than like 5 minutes] and not go insane. Granted, that's only because her timeline's version of Jean was the Phoenix when she gave birth to Rachel. But that just means that Rachel is the true heir and daughter of Phoenix (Jean Grey + Phoenix Force), and I'm always curious as to why, if they really don't want Jean to have it, why not just give it back to Rachel? Instead of frequently using "Phoenix Echoes" or fragments?

I love Rachel Summers Grey. I always thought she would end up with Kate Pryde.
Honestly, I’d give Rachel back the Pheonix… because, as we all know, Selene’s desire to dom Rachel with the Pheonix is so powerful that she would literally break them out of mother Righteous’ prison lol.
Also Rachel is the most inexperienced Phoenix ever and had only a fraction of the force.
Jean Grey is the most loved which makes sense for her to go insane but she didn't go insane all the time.
And it's mostly due to the mental blocks that not only kept the Phoenix suppressed but also kept Jean from fully tapping into her potential
The answer is clear. She has to embrace the Phoenix and can bring everyone back with the Phoenix force.
Rachel Summers Grey effectively used the Phoenix force without any corruption. I love Rachel as the Phoenix.

Considering how annoyed Saturnyne is at Betsy, I wouldn’t be surprise if she somehow managed to kidnap her.
I see a lot of people saying that Rachel is "the only person to wield the Phoenix Force and not go insane" that's because she nor anyone else ever fully held the Phoenix force. They all had fragments or a limited level of it. Jean on the other hand is the only one to have ever had FULL access to it since...say it with me...THEY ARE ONE.

EXCELLENT Review, Jean has to Learn ,just like her younger self learned she couldn't change the future, she can't change the past.
And also the fact that she’s not the sole decision maker.
She’s incredibly powerful but she’s not all knowing and that’s okay.
And maybe not to withhold things all the time. Seriously, she met Scott’s dad in space and he asked her to promise to not tell Scott that his own father was alive. And she actually kept that promise.
And the thing is she did start to patch things up with Maddy eventually in Dark Web. Mostly because enough time had passed and Maddy was in a relatively better place.
I’d love to see Maddy and Esme working together.

@@armisteadgwathney6152 I feel like, after recent developments, Maddy could be civil with her. Especially if Cable is in the room. They’re not going to be having a slumber party anytime soon. And lord knows that she’s still sore with Scott (especially with the whole refusal to invite her to Krakoa and refusal to resurrect her situation). But she’d at least appreciate that Jean is trying.

Echo lost the Phoenix in Jason Aaron’s Avengers, but I agree Echo was pretty ineffective as a host, though she did control it pretty well.

It's because Jean is the Phoenix she is a physical manifestation of it. I keep telling people this.
She said years ago and then settled again. And Phoenix endsong, they are one and the same.
Notice how when Madeline the Phoenix force, the Demon power, and the techno virus she manifested spikes all over her self similar to Rachel's Hound Suit from Days of Future Past.

While Jean Grey never TRULY possessed the Phoenix Force, it was, is, and always will be bound to her and her genetic lineage. Which includes, Madelyne Pryor, Rachel Grey-Summers and even Nathan Christopher Summers Askani' Son.

Anyone who has ever hosted the Phoenix force were basically avatars and not the true actual Phoenix of the White Hot Room which always manifests as Jean. If I'm not mistaken she picks the avatar and then they proceed to go about whatever it is that they call life. True Phoenix is Jean Grey.
I think Jean is trying to pull a "Here comes tomorrow" and do a reset...but the white hot room is like...XCUSE ME??!! You not only dumped my baby in your ohhh let me die and I don't need you, etc...

Rachel Summers Grey was never corrupted by the Phoenix Force. I believe she is the only one ever.
Baby Cable not only created psychic rapports with his loved ones, he was also able to erect protective telekinetic bubbles or force fields in order to protect himself from harm.
It’s funny how changing one small thing blows wholes in the timeline.

White Hot Room is such a strange concept because it started out being exactly that, a White Hot Room, but then it became a place that could look like anywhere so sometimes people are there and don't even know it lol. But yeah, imagine Maddie and Jean pulling on ORCHIS together? LAWD!!!!

The way I read this, I didn't think the Madelyne interaction to be a literal exchange/awareness by the real current day Maddie with what's going on with Jean. She's a story device for rewinding to where the Maddie/Jean drama really started. The actual Maddie, is fairly at peace with Jean's memory share (for now), and bears her no ill will (or not too much 😅).
Everything else is about the same though.
Jean has reached back in time before from the White Hot Room to tell Scott to "live" by moving on with Emma. Here, it's the equivalent of using the nature of the Phoenix (basically the sum total of psychic energy in creation that ever was or will be) and running simulations.
She technically has minds of everyone connected to a facsimile of the past event to do 'true to form' reactions to her minor changes in decisions, and maybe she even has forged actual alternate timelines out of these (unintentionally?) that will endure, if she hasn't been reducing them back to psychic force to run the next scenario.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT TAKE! Please start a overhaul of the Xbooks and write the main title. Marvel, hire this Samurai STAT!

2:06 I don’t think so. This Madelyne isn’t the same as the one we have currently, from what I can tell. This seems to be there Madelyne from Inferno whose mind was merged with Jean after Jean absorbed the Phoenix Fragment. This personality went away after Jean unleashed her fragment on the hand of a Celestial in the Judgment Arc of X-Factor. From what it appears, the Phoenix (or perhaps Jean’s own madness) has given sentience back to this alternate personality, a callback to that time in X-Factor in essence.
Edit: 6:26 Eh, I mean, I will say second most powerful, since the Goblin Force from Mutant X was also pretty busted and Madelyne only has a fragment of the Phoenix still in this story. If she had the entire thing, I would agree, but canonically, the Phoenix should be possessing Rachel in this moment.

rachel never had full control of the phoenix, jean was the only host capable of supporting all the fragments of the phoenix and becoming the white phoenix of the crown

Jean Grey is perhaps a desendant of the Phoenix Forse by fate, and other versions of her in the multiverse are joined by a thread of time? Like a paradox, the physical laws of time a Phoenix is, but fate of hand, a child of time? She rises only to give judgment of time as fire from the multiverse and possibly a new chapter for something new to be revealed? Starhawk says the one who knows all that's the Phoenix above all...

Hey Blerd, Rachel Summers is waving her hand, had you forgot her? She had the phoenix force during the Excalibur run and was able to use it pretty much as much as Jean and she never was corrupted.
You guys are incredibly annoying lol. Rachel was passing out at just sending Jeans energy with the Phoenix. Sorry to say, but between Jean and Rachel- Phoenix Force will always choose Jean. “Pretty much” in your own words should tell you exactly why they aren’t the same. This isn’t something that’s debatable either. She is the Phoenix, and the Phoenix is her. It’s favorite host.
Yes but you also have to remember the phoenix is her mom, it wouldnt let anything happen to her and for the most part it was just a small portion of the phoenix she wielded
Rachel only had a portion of the Force. Jean always wielded it in its entirety. Let's not forget that. Jean controls the Phoenix. Rachel doesn't. Otherwise, she wouldn't have needed to ask Jean not to take away her Phoenix essence in the End of Greys storyline.

@@hcbabyssian8936 Ignoring the retcon some writers did later on, In Excalibur Rachel had the full force. She later lost much of it but at begining of Excalibur, before the awakening of the real Jean Grey from her phoenix-created pod, Rachel had the force.
I really don't want Jean to merge with the Phoenix Force yet again. Their goodbye in Jean Grey: Resurrection was absolutely beautiful.

Marvel is getting closer to when they'll be able to have their first Marvel Studios created X-Men movie.
Kinda the time to synergize. Linking Jean back to the Force in the comics is their idea of prepping for it to be told "for the first time" in a movie.
No Echo. No Old Man Phoenix. No Echoes. No Fragments. No Phoenix 5. Not even Rachel. Just a refreshed Phoenix/Jean connection in the comics to coincide with a Phoenix/Jean development in the movies.

It feels like this series is about Jean doing shadow work. Confronting the uncomfortable moments she’s lived through, in her subconscious. Perhaps that’s what the White Hot Room is. She’s going about it the hard way, which is to try to change areas about her life. When shadow work is actually about embracing those uncomfortable places and realizing how they were never detrimental to begin with. Instead they were pivotal moments that needed to happen in order for the self to evolve.
I think Morrison would’ve been a better writer for this, if indeed that’s what this series is supposed to be- culminating with Jean accepting all that she is and becoming one with the Phoenix (or her higher self) again. Also. This book is moving so slowly. It should be an every 2-3 week release instead of once a month. The story is dragging.
