Wow were do I start? This is the first time a pair of videos choked me up, seriously. I'm 40 and a single father, last year I lost my right leg and my wife of 24 years. The only thing that keeps me going is my children and my loving grandson. I am so passionate about the outdoors, I've been working on a change. My neighbor is buying my house and I'm looking for property to build my cabin all by my hands, and you inspire me. Most people envy my life and have no idea how sad I truly am, it's very difficult to put one foot in front of the other, yet after watching these 2 videos I felt a burning, as if I also see clearer, and mind is now focused. Thank you JC for what you have given to me, I hope to one day visit and shake your hand and truly thank you for the awakening you've given me and asked for nothing in return, your a man's man, a woodsman saint. Your outdoor friend Mr.Big Dwc.

Great message , I am 58 years old and have been a logging contractor here in Maine for 32 years, a lot of trees have passed my way, but I cut mainly private lots for private landowners and selective harvested most of them according to their wishes. We need the wild places to breath again, breath fresh air, fresh thoghts, and fresh prespectives. I need to make changes to now and I pray for the strength to know Gods will for me, my family and business.

this brought back a lot of memories of growing up in upstate New York and spending a lot of my childhood in the woods. At around 4:20 in the video I could hear the birds of the woods singing. Love it. Keep em coming!

With heartfelt tears in my eyes, all I can say is thank you! Thank you for brining this message to all of us. I am currently downsizing my life and trying to make it more like the life I desire. Your messages rings true to me, like many others, I am sure. Thank you for putting up these videos as they keep that carrot in front of us saying that it can be done. You have proven that it can be done.

Each of your clips and series are well thought out, entertaining and always make us yearn to be right where you are and smelling the sweet scents of nature or what ever you are cooking up for the day. All of that and we still are able to walk away learning something! Thanks and keep it going, no matter where you film from, we will be watching; all the best!

Looks like you had a great time. Its a blessing to be able to step back into a time when there is less noise and daily stress. Your vids help all of us do the same by watching and putting our self into the picture and enjoying the great out doors. I retired 5 years ago and do some of the things I wanted to do when I was working and did not take the time to do. Some of the things I waited to long and can not do them as age is catching up quicker than I thought it would. I was able to enjoy some time in the Wisconsin outdoors/woods last week with my wife and dogs and it was refreshing. I move slower but still moving and life is good and your vids make it that much better. Thanks so much for your dedication to sharing the good times.

Jim, Funny how life comes about, That being re chatting with you, This morning, I watched one of 5 bald and golden eagles fly down my upper field to the pile of deer parts I had put out from the shop, Last night as I was in shop redoing some areas I took the time to sip some bourbon and look at several of the photos of our trip to Alaska in 1988, I have returned 20 times, But, I find as I understand thru our chats that you and I find greater solice and peace with a almost daily hit of the life mainly away from People and I find much more in my local solitude on a constant level as opposed to the long travel to find short peace of mind. In the spirit of Christmas, Peace to you. I am gonna start training my lab to look for sheds, Another reason to be in the woods. Peter.

I normally watch your videos as soon as they come out, but I've been in Nashville on business. Put up in a fancy hotel, free dinners in expensive restaurants, free breakfasts, free lunches, free drinks - and how miserable I was! The corporate, concrete world is a miserable, soul sucking existence compared to the freedom and righteousness of the wild.
I am stuck with a wife, a mortgage, braces for the kid, college and all the other traps and snares that tangle us up in a web of debt slavery.
I have to take my slice of freedom in smaller slices - but take them I do.
    God Bless my friend.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! I wanted to say that I have been watching your videos for a long time now. I live in British Columbia an have lived in remote areas thru the years. I have had family that trapped so I can relate to your life style. To keep a long story short. I, like so many was caught up in the vicious cycle of work, bills and working for the man. I once had a 6 figure income and more and more stuff. Approximately 5 years ago I decided enough is enough. It was time to live life. I paid off all debt, sold every thing I owned or charged and purchased my live aboard sail boat. I am 48 and have been living aboard for a year now. Living a simple life with out no worries. I pick up the odd job to pay for supplies and boat related things. I have a vlog and a blog and people watch and follow thru out the week of my journey. Most people say" If only I could do what you are doing" What they don't seem to get is they can. I am going to share your videos on my web site to help inspire others. Thanks again to you and Frankie for sharing small part of your lives.

Sounds like you've got a great thing going for yourself. Good for you brother. Send me info for your blog and I'll check it out. I'm glad I came here to NY and conquered my dreams of having all the acreage and the big trapline and all that jazz, If I hadn't come here I'd still be wishing for them. But now here I am with the "been there done that" awakening and off to the next chapter. Life is truly what you make of it. Leave no stone left unturned. All the best to you.

What a privilege to meet you. I left New Jersey and lived in Hawaii on the Big Island with the volcano for 10 years, preceded by living on expensive Oahu which is breathtaking and exquisite when you know how to avoid the tourist traps. After an earthquake made my house tip sideways and right itself after everything flew off the walls, I moved to rural North Central FL farmland. Each day I look for something to donate or give away, I have so much stuff even though I purged most of my possessions, its hard not to accumulate stuff. I can totally relate to what you are saying, I have little need of people and little patience for the insane dramas we can all let ourselves slip into if not mindful of the tremendous cost to our wellbeing. I love your spirit, the frog, the most exquisite beautiful dog, and your precious attitude. You in your own way are contributing to the collective peace in the world and I salute, value and admire you. Many Blessings for sharing with us all, we are the better for it!

I've been watching a lot of videos on You Tube lately about Off Grid Living, and when I found your channel I think I found a little piece of heaven. I know you're no saint, but you are truly inspiring me to move forward and follow my dreams... I've learned so much from you so far that I can't even begin to thank you for all that you've taught me so far. I'm almost 55 years old and this life I'm living here in the city is just a dream, my real life starts when me and my beautiful wife go off grid and really start living! Thank you JC, I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Your words just have a certain something that makes me so hopeful about the future. Frankie is so mellow, it shows that you're good to him, I see it in every video that you put out. You're living the dream man.

Glad you are enjoying my vids Phoebe and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. The older I get the more I'm trying to streamline my life and weed out all the things that make me discontented. My homestead will be going on the market in the spring and I'll be bouncing back and forth between my 2 cabins. I'm wishing you the best of luck with the pursuit of your new life. All the best to you.

Thank you kindly. Yes I have a tremendous respect and adoration for wildlife even though I harvest some. I take and give back. A balance between the two.

Hey there Bossman from the Dacks. Glad you found what was never lost. You just had to rediscover it again is all. Inner peace, solitude, and your never ending connection with nature. You already live very simply as I do. It is what life is about and the way it should be. Simple, free, total contentment. Peace Brother, Jack

What a wonderful couple of pieces of film! I really enjoyed these...not that I can think of anything that you have ever posted that I haven't enjoyed, but this helps all of us that wants this to be our reality someday to stay focused on getting there. For what it's worth you are very inspirational to those of us that want to live how people should live. I hope whatever you decide it brings you peace.....and you take us along :) Take care Boss!

Thank you my friend. So many folks want "the simple life" but work SO HARD in the opposite direction of it. I have sooooo much to say on the topic and will elaborate more in future videos. Right now I have a frisbee to throw.
      All the best my friend.

I just realized after watching your video it's been years since I've been able to sit in the woods hunting or exploring and listen to the silence of nature. It's funny how we start working to live and end up living to work. Thanks J.C. for the wake up call. This was very uplifting and inspiring, I've got some of my own thinking to do!!

This Video answered a few of my questions. I just want you to know that my Grandfather lost a lung working in a coke oven at Stelco, he retired at sixtyfive and lived several decades after that. Don't beat yourself up to much , you look fantastic and are physically able to do more then most people can at twenty. Your going to be around along time boss. Rose
