  • I discovered a fluid leak while carrying out winter maintenance on my 1996 VFR 750 (RC36A). I had to begin the process of tracing the source of the leak and as soon as I started digging I discovered other issues around the front sprocket area. I implemented a quick fix but I'll only know in a few days or weeks if it worked as I had hoped.
In this video you'll learn a few things about the hydraulic clutch, the speedo sensor, the water pump, the thermostat and the front sprocket on a VFR 750 (RC36A).

I'm a big fan of a taste test when trying to indentify mystery fluids, served me well in many a public toilet

Had a leakage at that spot on my 1996 VFR as well. The culprit was the oil seal of the clutch rod, it can be just pulled out and replaced by a new one. I don't like oil leakages on a motorbike engine, not even minor ones.

No. Not yet. I have a replacement seal but never had to install it yet. Just cleaning up the old one, even though its frayed, it still works a year later and no leaks at all.

I think I would have cleaned my bike before installing that shiny pipe.

😂 Yes really should have but was in the weather is so bad outside that I cant bring the bike outside the shed with no fairings on it and also in the middle of a house move so everything is upside down.
