How to test the ignition coils in a motorcycle

In this video I explain how to test the most common type of ignition coils found in a motorcycle and explain how they work. The readings I get for the ignition coil in this video will be different to the readings and ranges for the coils in your motorcycle. You should consult the service manual or Haynes manual for your model of motorcycle for exact procedure as there can be differences.
Please note that I use a common ignition coil which powers just one spark plug. Some ignition coils power two spark plugs. They can be identified by two HT leads leads out from the coil. There may be extra tests for such coils which you can read about in the service manual for your motorcycle.
